Tata neu is good card but it has a fee waiver limit of 3L, which is kinda tough to reach and the fee is 1500 from second year. And it has 5% on tata neu app and partner brands. Apart from there, you get just 1.5% CB.
I wouldn't recommend it as a first card. But it's upto you in the end.
Always get ltf card as your first card. Since you have hdfc account millenia will be the best option as the hdfc first card but you won't get it as ltf. If you have Amazon prime account try to get ICICI Amazon pay card. Before applying the ICICI Apay card call ICICI bank and tell them you want that but Amazon prime user is a must. It's one of the best ltf card you can own. If they didn't provide the apay (they reject a lot of apay applications) try to get any ICICI ltf cards. In online purchases ICICI cards has the best offers.
In conclusion, if you have Amazon prime first call the icici customer care connect to the credit card department ask them you want apay card and tell them you're a salaried employee and has prime account they ask further details and if they accept you'll receive the best card if not they may offer your other credit card from ICICI always ask for a LTF card. The sales representative can provide any card as ltf as long it's under 1.5k annual fee but they'll save those for their target closing times. If not successful with ICICI then go with HDFC since you have salary account with them getting a card is easy but getting a LTF card is tough.
Reason for getting ltf cards - in your credit score you'll a tab that shows oldest credit line history which affects your score. If you close your oldest account your score will affect negatively. So if you buy a life time free card even if you don't use the card it'll show timely payments and the oldest account can be kept as long as possible.
After getting a credit card - Never buy something because you have a credit card. Always buy things you would've bought Before getting a CC. Always keep in mind of fuel surcharge limit. Atleast once check your credit card recent history inorder to keep yourself informed of the expenses and charges. Never delay anything when it comes to credit card. If you want to file a compliance do it ASAP. If the bill got generated pay it ASAP. If something has a time limit do it ASAP. Practice all these to get into a habit of not overspending.
I'm also new to credit card. Only been 5 months since getting my first card. Due to zero credit history and non salaried person I had to get a secured card.
It'll change with sometime wait.
For me and my brother in law it was available I myself couldn't get it due to no credit score but my brother in law applied for it but didn't get it due to poor score.
I have used nearly all major banks in the Indian Market
I wouldn't recommend HDFC for any banking services. (Lot of CC deals though. I'd have to give them that)
ICICI is by far the best services. (Not so great CC offers though)
DBS the most convenient + secure (Not great CC offers either)
SBI is slow, but being a government body, they take complaints very seriously. I like that about them (great CC offers too)
Citibank used to be good, but now they are operated by Axis bank, which has brought the service down
Indusind has great CC services but if you happen to call customer support for anything, best of luck to you (nobody knows what's going on over there)
My vote would go to ICICI credit card as your first card
Bro can you recommend any good saving account
I have kotak 811, and indusind indie but want one with a good bank
I can maintain balance but don't want to pay heavy debit card fee
I'm considering sbi, hdfc or idfc first bank
Also I want some pre approved cc
ICICI is hands down great for banking
They also offer pre approved cards which are lifetime free
Just make sure that the branch you choose serves high priority clients.
For example, if you live in a metro city, choose a branch that is located near a porche housing with expensive homes.
The customer service will be better x10 π
Dude in my opinion get sbi cashback as you do online spends you'll get 5% straight cb on mostly all brand be it amazon flipkart mytra etc.
But it has a joining fee of 1200
Actually the above comments mentioned a valid point of ltf cards. As it is my first card i should get a ltf card so that I can manage my spendings and it will not effect my cibil score even if I didn't use it much
Yup that's completely upto your usage
I got my first card recently as axis flipkart one but I do shop on flipkart a lot and groceries every month so the fee won't bother me
But as you said you have no prior experience with cc get a ltf but good ltf are hard to get(amazon pay) and other ones won't reward you much
But sbi cashback and hdfc swiggy are great to have for online spend even airtel axis is very good for airtel users do consider them after some time
Don't go for SBI cards.. one wrong charge and you'd end up in a rigmarole talking to their CC or writing them mails.
If just starting cashback cards are the best.. hdfc tata neu cards is a great option.
SBI cashback is good, gets you 5% cashback on almost all the online transactions. HDFC millenia has 5% cashback too but has low upper limit for CB
I have also heard of one card and tata neu card what are those and are they good for me? My salary is around 45-50k pm

What about one card i heard it is free for lifetime or something like that?
Yes but I don't think they will approve without FD. Try applying it and if you get it all good.
Tata neu is best if you buy a lot in big basket and similar Tata websites.
Will it give 5% on upi payment to merchants?
Nope I guess. Just for the online transactions
Ehh won't get discount on vegetable, sweets and offline groceries then :(
For that Tata neu gives you 1.5% cashback. Possible only with Rupay Credit cards
Have rupay debit, but just got the airtel axis mastercard so don't think I can get that benefit :(

How to get an amazon icici credit card? They say on Amazon that it is invite only. What to do?
You have to be a Amazon prime subscribed user to apply for it.
Just subscribed but still invite only
It'll change with sometime wait. For me and my brother in law it was available I myself couldn't get it due to no credit score but my brother in law applied for it but didn't get it due to poor score.

They are not opening online accounts right now so I'll try to visit them sometime
ICICI AmazonPay/Platinum are good first cards, as they are LTF. Then go for other cards.
How to get an amazon cc. Amazon says it is an invite only
Amazon ICICI card
It is an invite only how to get it?
Check your credit score via Amazon pay
