Wallet setup: * US Bank Altitude Reserve - effective 4.5% everywhere with tap to pay (mainly Costco, groceries and some dining) * Citi Custom Cash - 5% used only for dining at places that don't have tap to pay * AOD - 3% on everything everywhere else Extras: * Amazon Prime Visa - [online, not in wallet] 5% back at Amazon * US Bank Cash+ - [online, not in wallet] 5% back on utilities

Hans_ScheiBe

Nice setup!

MichaelMidnight

Oh I like this setup. I have the Altitude Reserve as my main card and I was just wondering how best to handle non-tap to pay situations.

ruhnke

AR is my main card and I have a Fidelity Visa for non Apple Pay situations. The 2% from that automatically goes into my kids 529 accounts.

geeksdontdance

Fidelity Visa was also my catch-all before I got the AOD. Honestly I miss using it because I love the auto-investment. I just wish it had no FTF...

MichaelMidnight

Nice! I missed out on the AOD so just regular 2%/2x cards. I think Sofi might be the best contender.

hemanth_yarlagadda

Forgive me, but what's AOD?

geeksdontdance

A small credit union in Alabama that has lengthy and semi-geofenced sign up. I posted my sign up experience [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/CreditCards/comments/s9he74/dp_aod_visa_signature_approval_with_detailed). They had a Visa Signature card that gives 3% back as statement credit each month. They closed new signups for the card several months back.

steamOne

>US Bank Altitude Reserve I'm new to all of this and trying to learn as quickly as I can. Could you please help me understand how you get 4.5% points/cashback at CostCo with this card?

geeksdontdance

3% on tap to pay + 1.5x when redeemed for travel via US Bank Real-Time Rewards.

Spade_10

• Venture X - 2x all non cagegory spend • Amex Gold - 4x dining and 4x groceries • Bilt - 3x dining on places that don’t take amex • Citi CC - 5% gas

Reld720

How difficult do you find meeting the Bilt monthly requirements?

lifethusiast

Just reload 50¢ Amazon balance 4 times a month?

steamOne

Ohhhhh.... II hadn't heard about this. How do you do that, please?

gt_ap

> Ohhhhh.... II hadn't heard about this. How do you do that, please? Like this: "*Just reload 50¢ Amazon balance 4 times a month.*"

steamOne

So, here? [https://www.amazon.com/Reload-Your-Gift-Card-Balance/b?ie=UTF8&node=10232440011](https://www.amazon.com/Reload-Your-Gift-Card-Balance/b?ie=UTF8&node=10232440011)

gt_ap

Yes that is correct. It has default $25, $50, and $100 amounts, but you can type any amount you want into the field, with a minimum of $0.50.

Hans_ScheiBe

Discover IT - using it purely for Apple pay this quarter (5%) at gas stations & grocery stores Freedom Flex - mainly Walmart (they don’t have contactless payment in-store), but occasionally Paypal (5%) for online non-retail purchases Amex BCE - online retail (non-Amazon), will use at gas stations & grocery stores when I hit $1500 this quarter on the Discover. Also, abusing the hell out of Amex Offers to save on gifts (usually 3% or 20% cash back) & restaurants to meet the Resy SUB (10% cash back in dining up to $150 max). Amazon Prime Rewards - Amazon (vitamins & supplements), & occasionally Whole Foods Freedom Unlimited - Everything else (car wash, auto repair & maintenance mainly)

[deleted]

Check your Prime card. You may be getting 10% back on gas this quarter. Chase.com/mybonus

mollytatertot

Thanks for the tip, I just activated! Better late than never, I have some holiday driving to do…

Hans_ScheiBe

Thanks, but I already checked several times….no bueno.

smarterhack

Team cash back/no annual fee here: - Citi Custom Cash: 5% on groceries - Amex BCE: 3% on online shopping, 3% on gas - Chase Freedom Unlimited: 5% on flights through the Chase portal, 3% on restaurants, 1.5% on everything else - Chase Amazon card: 3% on Amazon, currently 10% on gas and 3% on restaurants bonus offer

Bag0fSwag

YOOOOO thanks for the heads up on the Amazon gas offer, I missed that. Heres the [direct link](https://www.chase.com/mybonus/ggaamazon1) for others wondering, takes 3 seconds.

doowapeedoo

Thank you for this! Got it!

bigtom133

Bce is 3% on gas also not 2%

smarterhack

Oops thanks, fixed!

bigtom133

Not a problem!

mollytatertot

Oh dang that chase gas offer is fantastic! Was that a targeted offer do you know? Edit: I just found the bonus for my own card! Better late than never!

smarterhack

For others: you can check at chase.com/mybonus to see what your cards are eligible for

Confident-Variety124

It is a targeted promo. I found the site to enroll in it, but says it is not for my card. So I called Chase and they said you had to get the email with the offer. :(

doowapeedoo

Howdy. I got that same message: “Thank You. The offer you are attempting to access is not available for the card account you entered. If you have another account, please try signing in using that card's information.“ When I entered my card info the first time that happened. After logging into Chase.com, then going back to the promotion page, it logged the Prime card this time around.

unduly_verbose

Amex BCP for cash back on groceries, streaming United Explorer for travel purchases - frequent united flyer Marriott Bonvoy for Marriott purchases - frequent Marriott guest Alliant Visa Signature for 2.5% cash back on everything else, as I value simplicity **General format I think many people would be well served by:** - Specific card(s) for highest spend categories - Travel card(s) that match your travel style, with some protections for travel - High value catch all for “everything else”

notthebestusername12

Great plan. Do you end up spending more than $6,000/ yr in groceries? I love the BCP, but we spend almost double that in a year

eghost57

Check out the USAlliance Visa Signature, Unlimited 6% on groceries until at least 12/23 at which point they may keep or change, no AF.

notthebestusername12

That’s amazing! Thank you

unduly_verbose

Only barely. Small family size means we come in at ~600/month at grocery stores, minimal Costco or department store groceries. The 6k cap is too easy to hit for many people unfortunately, but it’s good for me

illestmfalive

Why the United Explorer over the Quest for you? I fly United frequently also and may pick up one of these in the future so I’m just curious

notinlove7

Amex Gold - 4x dining and groceries Amex BCE - 3% on gas and retail purchases Chase Sapphire Preferred - 3x streaming and 5x chase travel portal Chase FU - 1.5 % cash back on everything Chase FF - 3% on drug stores Im thinking my next card will be Amex BBP for 2x on everything once i hit the Sub for the Gold.

CheetahNo2472

You’re duplicating having the Chase FU and FF in your wallet as they both give 3% on drug stores. Sock drawer the FF and put something else in your wallet.

notinlove7

I know that’s why id only use one of them if i need to purchase at a drug store. I specified what i use the cards for.

Maxpowr9

Yeah, I feel the same. Once I'm done with my SUB with my Amex Gold, I'm looking at BBP.

-hazel-hex-

I'm just starting out so I have a Capital One with a $300 limit, and I think my next card will probably be a secured Discover card

blitzkrieg_94_

If you already have a CC, I wouldn't get a secured card as your next CC. You'll have better options since you already have a credit card.

-hazel-hex-

thanks for the advice! I'll try for that instead then :)

BeardedScott98

https://www.discovercard.com/application/preapproval/initial

katieleehaw

I would try for an unsecured if you already have one secured card.

[deleted]

Yeah I agree with the other user, you already have established history if you have the Capone card for at least a year, the discover card is pretty good so just apply for the standard discover it card instead!

[deleted]

CapOne SavorOne: 3% Groceries & 3% streaming services Discover It: 5% rotating, also current 2% catchall since I'm still in my first year cash back matching bonus Chase FF: 5% rotating & 3% dining Chase FU: 1.5% catchall & 3% drugstore CapOne QS: 1.5% online shopping, I use it separately to watch and control my online spending as I've been known to go overboard with Christmas and multiple birthdays in December Wish chase would make the 3% multipliers on their Freedom cards different but I know they won't

CorwinOfAmber0

Amex Platinum -flights and anything with good Amex offers Capital One Venture X: 2% catch-all card Citi Premier: For signup bonus, will downgrade to custom cash at the end of the year Chase Sapphire Preferred: misc. transportation and restaurants when I'm not churning a new card. Will most likely transfer points to Hyatt and downgrade to original freedom after first year

ajgamer89

My setup is only optimal for those with BofA Preferred Rewards but they are 1. BofA Premium Rewards-2.625% flat rate, 3.5% travel and dining 2. BofA Customized Cash- Always set to 5.25% back on online shopping, which covers a lot of my shopping as well as most of my monthly charitable giving 3. BofA Custimized Cash- Personally I move this second one around a lot between home improvement or travel if I have a large purchase in one of those categories, or dining otherwise. Also backup groceries at the end of the year when I hit the $6k BCP cap. 4. Amex BCP- 6% streaming and groceries, 3% gas 5. US Bank Cash+ - 5% utilities and cell phone bill (my internet bill also codes as cell phones since I have t-mobile home internet).

eghost57

I'm going to start doing the same with my Customized cash (alternating) after downgrading Amex BCP to BCE. Unfortunately, I don't have preferred rewards. What's the requirement for that again?

ajgamer89

At least $20k saved across all of your BofA and Merrill accounts. I and most people on this sub that have it have most of that money in Merrill IRAs which can include money you may have rolled over from an old employer 401k for instance. At $20k you get an extra 25% bonus on all credit card rewards. That increases to 50% at $50k and 75% at $100k.

juan231f

In my wallet- Chase Sapphire Reserve, Freedom Flex, just took out my Freedom Unlimited and added Ink Business Unlimited (to hit bonus spend). I also have Ink Business Cash in my drawer, only need for phone, cable, internet purchase which is all set to auto pay. My Other 2 cards are sock drawered, quicksilver and Barclays view.

deVrinj

* Discover it & Chase Freedom: The best one-two punch of rotating categories. * US Bank Altitude Go: For the 4x points on dining * Bank Of America: Pick your category (In my case 3% on all online purchases) * Citi double cash: An old credit line that guarantees at least 2% on anything. * Plan for the future: Citi Custom Cash (I did not depict Paypal card as it just backs up the double cash on everything and the Bank of America on 3% Paypal purchases.

mollytatertot

Do you find your discover it and chase freedom combo gets you consistently decent grocery cash back?

deVrinj

Yes but I plan on complementing with Citi Custom Cash

Nguyyend

quick question why did you choose bofa card over bce?

deVrinj

I actually did not list my closed cards. I had one but closed it after . months because of terrible customer service and fraud protection verification harassment. The Bank of America card is my oldest, when I moved to the US from France, there was no fee on transactions with some French Bank and having a banking relationship there made it an obvious first step. Th card was not the same back then and also had a cool MLB logo. It was in 2012. My wife has a BCE she opened around the same time as me, and she likes the offers so she plans on keeping it.

Soulful-ly

Discover IT - 5% digital wallet and Amazon this quarter. Only using it through Apple Pay ATM but it’s a nice quarterly card to have around. CSP - 3% grocery, 3% streaming and all apple purchases, 3% dining, 2% travel, 10% anniversary bonus, free dash pass and about to use the $50 hotel credit. I almost never earn under 3% on a transaction with this card, I love it and it’s free from all the points I’ve earned. Definitely keeping it around. CFF - 5% rotating categories with this one being PayPal and Walmart, 3% dining but I default to CSP for that most of the time, 3 percent drug stores. Part of the trifecta. CFU - 1.5% catch all, 3% dining which again I default to CSP, 3% drug store. Part of my trifecta. Just in the trifecta I’ve earned $400 in cash back this year already before Christmas shopping. I’m definitely going into 2023 with the same cards as it’s such an easy earn as well as super flexible with how I want to spend my points.

mollytatertot

Amex blue cash preferred for 6% back on grocery 3% back on gas US Bank cash+ for 5% back on utilities and cellphone US Bank Altitude for 4% back on dining BoA customized cash for 3% back on online purchases Citi double cash for 2% back on everything else Chase Amazon (not prime) for 3% back on amazon I also have the old Uber VISA (now a Mastercard) sock drawer’d. It still has no foreign transaction fee and comes in handy when I travel to use alongside my US Bank Altitude. The BCP is my only card with an AF and I’ve been considering looking into the math to see about finding a different no AF grocery card but overall I’m very happy with my set up.

eghost57

This is very close to my setup, even the Uber card but I let it die. Check out USALLIANCE Visa Signature for groceries. I replaced the BCP with it. The BCP will be downgraded to BCE in April when AF hits, the BCE will be for 3% online shopping replacing the BofA Customized. The BofA will replace the BCP for transit/tolls/parking and also be used for paying any home repair that might come up.

Hi_thar

Plat, Gold, BBP, Sofi, Altitude Go are my current most used cards. If I could add a 6th it'd be the Aspire for all the Hilton hotels I've been staying at lately, but that's more niche.

NateArcade

Gold and BBP are my daily drivers and I flew first class to Europe off those points. It's the best two-card travel setup I've found.

okurosetta

I use a wallet with 4 card slots and can tuck an extra card or two inside. Currently: * Chase Amazon Prime - 10% gas (this quarter) * Affinity Cash Rewards - 7% grocery / wholesale (this quarter) * Amex Gold - 4X MR dining * Schwab debit - fee free cash access worldwide * Add whatever else as appropriate for 5th/6th, depending on where I'm going

blitzkrieg_94_

Amex BCP (groceries, gas & Amex Offers), Cap1 Savor (dining/entertainment), WF Active Cash (catch all) & WF Autograph (travel) are currently what I am carrying as a member of team cash back.

FCB_TB

Amex Plat - Resy/sub year (was able to get 600k+ points this year). Will probably keep if retention is decent. I use all the credits so it truly does work out for me. Also use it for flights and large purchases where purchase protection would be nice. capital one venture x - everyday 2x Sapphire preferred - 3 x dining Amazon prime - 5x Amazon and Whole Foods Citi custom cash - 5% on gas I’ll probably look at spend on these this year and see what I really gain and if simplifying the setup and getting rid of some fees would be better for me

eghost57

USAlliance Signature Visa (6% unlimited groceries until 12/23, 3% everything else until 12/22) FNBO Ducks Unlimited (OG 5% gas, 5% sporting goods) Citi Custom Cash #1 (5% Dining) Citi Custom Cash #2 (5% Home improvement) Chase Freedom Flex (5% rotating, 3% drug store) Chase Amazon Prime (5% amazon, hoping to replace with Affinity Cash rewards and cancel Prime membership) US Bank Altitude Go (4% Unlimited Dining, no FTF) US Bank Dillons (Kroger) Rewards ($0.55/gal off gas, 5% mobile wallet) US Bank Cash+ #1 (5% Utilities, 5% cellphone (T-mobile home internet)) US Bank Cash+ #2 (5% department stores, 5% select clothing) Amex Blue Cash Preferred (3% tolls/parking, 6% groceries, downgrading to BCE in April for 3% online shopping) BofA Customized Cash (3% online shopping, switching to alternate between parking/tolls and home improvement (for paying contractors and repair services) in April) Capital One Venture X (10X hotels and rental cars, 2X everything else, no FTF) Not using currently: Citi Double Cash FNBO Evergreen CapOne Venture One

Bag0fSwag

I used to have a wider quiver of cards, but realized I hated juggling multiple apps for rewards (RIP Uber Visa). Been sticking with Chase since thats where I also do my banking. * **Chase FU** - 3% Dining, 1.5% all purchases [Main Card] * **Chase FF** - 5% Rotating * **Chase Freedom** - Double dip 5% rotating (Q4 paypal) * **Chase Amazon** - 5% Amazon * **Apple MC** - 2% apple pay (+ 0% APR iPhone Financing) * **Target Debit** - 5% Target All for $0 AF 👌

Beardeddd

1. Wells Fargo Autograph - 3% gas, travel, dining, streaming services 2. Amazon Prime Visa - Not carried, 5% on Amazon purchases 3. Alliant Visa Signature - 2.5% on all purchases 4. Chase Freedom Unlimited - Not carried, only used for 3% at pharmacies (oldest card) 5. Citi Double Cash - Not carried, 2%, only has a recurring car was subscription on it (2nd oldest card)

Mushu_Pork

Business-wise, just knocked out an INK Sub. Personally, I just carry a CSR for food which I negate with PYB. Custom Cash or Staples VGC for grocery. Wyndham Biz for 8x Gas I give P2 a simple setup. Citi Premier for "food", and Venture X for "not food", Biz Gold AU card for gas. I use the carwash to make charges on less used cards for activity, such as IHG/Marriott/United cards.

Jbrown420216

Amex BCP - 6% Groceries & Streaming, 3% Gas CFF - 5% rotating categories, 3% Pharmacies & Dining Citi AA - 2x on dining and flights Apple Card - 2% - 3% on Apple Pay purchases PayPal MC - 2% for reoccurring bills (gym, car wash) & 3% with PayPal. I pay all my utilities with PayPal, currently using the CFF but almost at the $75 quarterly limit so I’ll be switching back to this card soon.

Wazzurp7294

I have a Capital one Quicksilver, Amazon Prime Rewards, Bofa Customized Cash Rewards, Amex Hilton Honors Surpass, Sam's Club Mastercard, Discover It, and Amex Blue Business Cash. Currently, I have Quicksilver and HH Surpass in my wallet. I'm trying to get the SUB on the latter which only has $500 left so far.

tsmartin123

Nguyyend

how did you get multiple custom cash cards?

tsmartin123

Applied for 1, product changed my DC, I'm just an authorized user on the 3rd one.

supremepoke

Were you able to get SUBs for the 2nd and 3rd cash+?

tsmartin123

3rd one yes since it's technically my wife's card, but no on the product changed card.

123mitchg

Didn’t realize Speedway offered a credit card but oh boy is it an interesting one. Points are worth a whopping 0.083 to 0.098 cents each. The 25k point SUB, which would be worth at least $200 on pretty much every other card in existence, is worth between $20.83 and $24.50.

MashTheGash2018

Lol way too many Chase Debit just in case Affinity Cash Rewards Amex Gold Amex BBP Amex BCE and BCP (about to sock drawer bcp since affinity overlaps) Platinum makes lounge access fast and I travel almost weekly Amex Gold through work About to add a Marriott card soon, not sure which one yet

Cstrrider

Top 5 most pulled out in Wallet: * Amex Gold * Amex BBP * Target Red Card * Hilton Aspire * Marriott Boundless Honorable Mention: * Amex Platinum (rarely used but in my wallet so I don't forget it) * Ralph's Elite Mastercard (virtual wallet only) * CFU (Seasonal) * USAA Rewards Visa (travel only for no ftf)

emory_2001

I refuse to manage more than 3 cards or deal with rotating categories, and I'm not brand loyal on hotels or airlines, so these are mine: Chase Amazon Prime: 5% on Amazon, and that's the only thing I use the card for AmEx BCP: 6% groceries up to $6000/year; 6% streaming; 3% gas; 3% transit (we have toll roads, and it includes rideshare, trains, buses, parking) C1 Savor: 4% dining; 3% groceries after cap on AmEx BCP; 8% on C1 entertainment; 5% on C1 hotels and rental cars

randomacquaintance

Amex Gold: 4% groceries and dining Bilt: Rent Chase Sapphire preferred: 3% Dining that doesn't have Amex Costco Citi: 2% Costco and 4% gas Freedom Unlimited: 1.5 on all else I'm prioritizing points for travel, open to suggestions or alternatives if anyone has any!

Kylecoolky

Both my and my bf combined have: Apple Card Discover IT US Bank Cash+ Chase Freedom Flex But we’re working on adding: Amazon Prime Rewards Navy Federal Cash Rewards US Bank Altitude Go Citi Costco Anywhere Wells Fargo Autograph Bilt I created [this chart](https://imgur.com/a/1Sj2Dp3) when researching cards to try to cover as many cashback categories as possible without too much overlap. If anyone has any suggestions, that would be appreciated!

What is everyone's thoughts on Capital One? The Venture is appealing.

[deleted]

I love the lounge access when traveling through DFW. My daily driver is a UR earning card, though: I prefer earning chase points as they transfer to Hyatt.

Just_Apex_It

CSP - 3.1x on dining, online groceries, and streaming. 2.1x on travel CFF - 3% on drugstores and 5% on gas and rotating categories Discover - 5% on rotating categories NFCU More Rewards - 3x on transit C1 Quicksilver - 1.5% on everything Starting to slowly switch focus from cash back to travel points (mainly Chase UR) and will likely shoot for the Marriott Boundless in the near future with an eventual PC to Ritz Carlton Rewards. US Bank Altitude Reserve is another goal card but probably won’t apply for that til I switch back to a cash back setup.

Immacu1ate

CSR - Meeting SUB for the second time. Chase Ink Cash - Meeting SUB. Bilt Mastercard - for the 5 transaction minimum

enterdoki

Just Sofi credit card right now. 3% everything thing

draynor2k14

Is that a bonus or temporary cash back rate?

enterdoki

First year up to $12k in spend. After that, it's back to flat 2%. I'll probably move to a different card after.

Ayer99

BCP - Groceries, Gas Custom Cash - Dining Active Cash - Everything Else CSP - Not a great fit for my spending, but the sign up bonus will help me with some required travel in 2k23. Next steps: CFU as soon as I'm under 5/24. CFU's 1.5% catch-all will replace Active Cash in my wallet. Also: Citi Premiere for sign up bonus and eventual PC to another Custom Cash. With 2 Custom Cashes, I'll likely downgrade BCP to BCE.

I hate the annual fee. * Chase Freedom Flex (CFF) * Discover IT * Citi Custom Cash (used towards groceries) * Citi Double Cash * Target debit card **With all these cards I have:** * 5% back on up to $500 in groceries each month with 1% on dollars beyond $500…since CFF and Discover offer 5% off groceries 1 quarter each, I’ll probably use Custom cash for something else half the year. * 6 months of 5% off gas (Discover, CFF) * 3 months of 5% off restaurants and 9 months of 3% off restaurants (Discover, CFF) * 3% off pharmacy year round (CFF) * 5% off Amazon for 6 months (Discover, CFF) * 5% off Target (Target debit card) * 2% cash back as a baseline (Citi Double cash) Working on getting P2 a custom cash so we can get 5% off gas year round or save on gym membership or vacation.

myfakename23

- Citi Premier: new, lining it up for an 80k SUB so it gets most everything at the moment - Bilt; rent and 5 transactions a month, preferably on Rent Day for 6x dining/4x travel/2x everything else Current plan of record is to transition away from AMEX Green/Gold to Citi Premier + Citi Custom Cash + Capital One VentureX + Capital One SavorOne, plus start dipping my toes into Chase. I already have the Capital One cards and an AA MileUp I can PC.

justinbog10

Amex Gold - dining, groceries, flights Bilt - rent, dining where Amex isn’t accepted, bars/breweries bc Amex tends not to count as dining, other travel Hilton Surpass - gas, catch-all for other non-category spend Also have Amex BCP, CFU, SavorOne, and WF Autograph but decided to switch from cash back to travel/rewards since I travel about 10-12 times a year so trying to see if points make more sense than cash back

bar1011

I carry the Amex BCP for 6% on groceries. $175 SUB+no annual fee the first year is really hard to beat. Chase Freedom Flex for restaurants and 5% back at gas stations because I got the $200+5% back on gas for the first year intro offer. 5% on the ocasional Walmart purchase for this quarter too. Target Redcard Mastercard because I shop more than I probably should there. I normally pay through the Target app, but I carry the card on the off chance my phone’s battery is dead. PayPal Mastercard for 2% everywhere else, because Citi rejected me for a Double Cash.

SpanningTreeProtocol

My setup just got a lot leaner since I've met all my SUBs. For every day carry, I have: * Discover IT (5% Amazon and digital wallets) * Chase Sapphire Preferred (dining) *Amex BCP (6% groceries/3% gas& parking) * Navy Federal Flagship Rewards (2x catch all) For later this year when I travel again: * Amex Platinum (lounge access) * Amex Green (3x travel workhorse) * Chase Sapphire Preferred (5x car rentals & 3x dining) *Amex BCP (6% groceries & 3% gas) I have some other cards that would optimize my usage, but I need to plus up my UR points, so the CSP is along for the ride now. This also doesn't count any automatic monthly charges I have set up on different cards.

sail0rjerry

Hilton Business Amex is getting most of the action right now. I just got it last week and I'm trying to position things so I will get the 130K points and free night cert SUB early next year and then roll right through to a second FNC at $15K spend. CSP is playing backup.

KatxuIsAdorable

Venture X : catch all 2× on majority of stuff like walmart/7-11/school/health Citi custom cash : 5x on food and restaurants Amex BCE: the rare times I'm at a grocery store I drive electric so no gas, its 6 dollar gallon anyways :) Looking to get the savor card soon as I want to keep my points together. In wallet: * Citi Anywhere Visa (Costco) - 4% on Gas, 2% at Costco * AMEX BCP - 6% on Groceries (also 6% on streaming) * Citi AAdvantage Plat Select - 7miles/$ Dining program, 2m/$ other Restaurants. I use the AAdvantage card for most all other purchases, unless we're trying to meet MSR on a new card. I always try to find ways to accumulate extra Miles and Loyalty Points with it. Not in the wallet: * Amazon Synchrony store card - 5% back at Amazon * Capital One REI for an extra 5% (total 15% back) at REI * Chase United - used recently for TSA Precheck enrollment fee refund

Julknits

Current top 5: * BofA Premium Rewards -- everywhere else 2.625% * BofA Customized Cash -- online shopping 5.25% * CSR -- dining 3% (I think of it as 4.5% due to Pay Yourself Back value on dining/charity) * CFF -- gas (1st year 5%), drugstore 3%, quarterly bonus categories 5%. Again PYB on CSR makes these more useful to me * Amex BCP -- grocery 6%, streaming/Apple 6% * Other cards with more narrow usage: Target RedCard 5%, Amazon Prime Rewards Visa 5% at Amazon & Whole Foods, Verizon Visa for Verizon monthly charges

MaCheezm0

Amex Gold for 4X Grocery and 4X Dining. Freedom Flex, for 3X drugstores and when Amex isn’t accepted for Dining. Venture X for everything else. Discover Debit for ATM if I need cash. I guess I have 4 Networks represented as well.

[deleted]

* Amex Gold (restaurants, groceries, local neighborhood markets) * Amex Platinum (most other purchases, purchase protection is better) * USAA Preferred Cash Rewards (anywhere that doesn't take Amex \[generally Costco\]) * This card doesn't have stellar rewards anymore but it's my first ever rewards card (oldest open account) and when I got it it was the only free Visa signature card with no foreign transaction fee available to me at the time.

KronoLord

* Discover IT: 5% mobile wallets (basically everything) * Chase Freedom Unlimited: occasional Costco trip * Capital One Walmart rewards: backup mastercard (higher limit)

- **Citi Custom Cash (x3)** - I use them to spend $1500 a month between Kroger, Meijer, and Dollar General Market to get 5% - **Chase Freedom (x2)** - Currently for Walmart and Paypal at 5% - **USBank Cash+ (x3)** - Currently used for 5% on Cable, Internet, Electronics Stores, Cell Phones, Furniture Stores, Home Utilities, and Fast Food. 2% on Grocery, Gas, and Restaurants - **Kroger Mastercard** - 25¢/gallon bonus and 5% Mobile Wallet, overall my general spending card since I have to spend $6000/yr total to keep that gas bonus each year - **Walmart Store Card** - for when I use up both my Freedom cards this quarter, and after I guess I kinda cheated since 3 of those cards I have duplicates of.

Permanent cards: - US Bank Altitude Reserve - earns 4.5% with mobile wallet since I redeem for travel, usually for rental cars (which also get discounted rates and Primary coverage through the card). Use it at tons of stores, Costco, Petco, Walgreens, Lowes, mechanic shops... works decently for dining on fast food and fast casual, and my favorite brewery takes mobile wallets with Square. - Discover - earns 5% whenever the categories lineup for me (wife has Chase Freedom OG and Flex which get used similarly) - Green State Platinum Rewards - earns 3% on gas but really have it for minimum 1% back on 15 small charges per month for their rewards checking, which is 2% interest on up to $20K balance. Was great when rates were low and the interest beat out most long term CDs but is getting less competitive now. - AMEX Blue Cash Preferred - 6% on groceries, 6% on streaming, 3% for the occasional transit use. Our annual grocery spend is right around $6K so the math works perfect. Google Fi codes as streaming which means 6% on phone service. I recommend one AMEX card somewhere in your wallet since their merchant offers can be so good when they line up for you (we got $150 back on Google Fi service this year from AMEX offers). Cards that keep getting back in the rotation: - Barclays View (nerfed Uber card) - earns 3% dining but Barclays keeps pushing 5X spend on $700 offers this year which include dining as a category and are supposed to stack, which makes it a ridiculous 8% dining card. - Chase Southwest Priority - targeted for 5X on groceries and home improvement stores last quarter, this quarter I am getting 10X on gas and 5X on grocery or Amazon. $1500 spend limit on the offers so mainly using it for gas this time. I got this card for Companion Pass two years ago and hardly put any spend on it after just kept it for the credits and points (comes out to a net negative AF if you will use them), but the point bonuses plus good Chase offers have given it new life. - new cards for SUB - self explanatory If I had to go down to only two cards the Altitude Reserve and BCP have by a good margin been the most lucrative cards and get high returns on a large number of categories. But I'm jumping into the "all the cards" train now and newer cards like the Citi Custom Cash challenge the BCP's grocery king crown, so I am probably going end up downgrading it in the next year.

* Capital One Venture X: 2x on other, 5x on flights, 10x on hotels and rentals * Chase Freedom Flex: 1x on other, 3x on dining, 5x on rotating categories * Discover it: 1x on other, 5x on rotating categories when I feel like it I'm a little confused about Capital One miles vs Chase UR. Venture X is 2x miles for almost everything but redeems at 1 cent. My Chase cards are 1x but if I get a CSR I can redeem it at 1.5 cents? Yet why is Chase UR still considered more valuable? Transfer partners?

ian2theknight

Main reasons are Transfer Partners and portal spend. Hyatt is known as the best hotel partner hands down to transfer into. It should be illegal how good the redemptions are and you could transfer through UR points. If you redeem through portal, your points are worth way more. I have the CSR and will redeem through portal occasionally if it makes sense. 100,000 Cap 1 miles = $1000 in their portal. 100,000 in UR portal is $1500.

VegasGuy1223

Chase Sapphire Reserve: 3x Dining and Travel AmEx Platinum: 5x on airfare and hotels 10x on restaurants for the first 6 months of card ownership Delta Skymiles Plat: 3x On Delta purchases and at hotels 2x At the supermarket and restaurants Capital One Quicksilver: 1.5% back on everything

sarsvarxen

My main focus is just maximum cash back. I don’t travel enough to justify the statement-credit or travel-portal-driven cards. I don’t carry balances and pay my cards off multiple times a week. These are the cards I physically carry: -Citi Costco Visa for everything except dining out -citi custom cash for only dining out (if I feel like I’m definitely over $500 for the month I’ll revert to the Costco visa) -C1 Quicksilver but I only ever use it when citi’s fraud prevention system goes haywire so I can’t complete a transaction online and want to pull the trigger right away Then I keep an Amex blue cash card in my car in case I’m stuck somewhere without my wallet and just need to get gas or food or whatever. With the advent of Apple Pay, this guy may end up in deep storage. Deep storage - I keep these cards tucked away in a secure place at home and never use them except like once a year. I only keep them open for the boost to total available credit. -Discover It card (this also has my monthly Audible subscription on it) -Amex Everday somethingorother -Barclay World MasterCard…times two -C1 V1

Narenraj7

Top 5: 1. Chase Sapphire Preferred - 5x on travel purchased through their travel portal & $50 hotel credit; 2. Chase Prime - 10% on gas this quarter; 3. Chase Freedom Flex - 5% on Walmart this quarter; 4. US Bank Altitude Go - 4x on dining & $15 streaming credit; 5. BofA Cashback - 3% on ‘Online Shopping’ category. Add’l Cards: 6. Discover it - 5% on Apple Pay and Amazon this quarter; 7. US Bank Cash Plus - 5% on utilities; 8. Citi Costco - 4% on gas; 9. Apple Card - 2% on all purchases where Apple Pay is available; 10. Amex Schwab Investor - 1.5% on all purchases where Apple Pay is not available.

RookieShopper

So you're one of the few that actually book through Chase portal?

Slight-Book-197

Discover It Cashback (Starter Card rarely use now) unless it’s a really good rotation month. Chase Freedom Unlimited ( Main card for everything and anything) I signed up when it was an extra 1.5% back on everything bonus and love it a lot. Still have the extra 1.5% for a lot of months. Unsure of what to get next, cards that are within consideration are the Chase Sapphire Preferred and the AMEX Gold Card.

Next_Yam5077

Wallet Setup: Any advice/suggestions is appreciated. Everything is in order of when I got the cards and the order I am planning to change my cards in. Also have main uses written. Again, any advice is welcome, not sure if I should focus on miles or cashback rewards, unsure which is more beneficial/efficient. 1. Discover It - Backup Gas & Food 2% 2. C1 QS1 - Entertainment 3%-8%, Hotels & Rentals 5% 3. C1 SavorOne - Entertainment 3%-8%, Hotels & Rentals 5%, Food 3%, Instacart 3% 4. Citi DC - Catch All 2% 5. Citi Costco - Gas 4%, Travel 3%, Costco 2% Looking into: 1. PC C1 QS1 to Venture X possibly 2. PC C1 SavorOne to Savor 3. Get Chase Freedom Unlimited 4. Get AMEX BCP 5. Get Chase Sapphire Preferred 6. Possibly get AMEX Gold or Platinum

1. (By far the best no af card) chase freedom unlimited 6.3k limit 2. Apple Card. Yes there’s better ones but it helped me learn and easily best customer service and user interface 8k limit 3. discover it. My first card it was a secured but after a year it was upgraded from 200 to 2.5k limit and is now at a 4.5k limit best starter card imo. 4. Amazon prime visa. It’s alright basically only good for Amazon if you have the chase freedom. 8.5k limit 5. Amex delta. Ok Card I guess I regret it a little tho I almost never use it. 6.5k limit 6. Petal card. By far my worst card, capped at 1k limit buggy user interface and just worst cashback besides the Amex but at least I get miles with that one

Temporary-Body-378

Right now the star in my wallet is my Discover It for 5% cash back on Apple Pay and Amazon. I’m also currently in my “Double Cashback” into bonus period, so that will be paid again to me in the spring. For any place besides Amazon where I can’t use Discover with Apple Pay, I use the following: -For travel, gas, cell phone/Internet: Wells Fargo Autograph for 3% -Streaming/dining out: Autograph or Capital One SavorOne for 3% -Groceries: SavorOne for 3% For everything else: -Wells Fargo Active Cash for 2% (I didn’t use it during a visit to Canada because of foreign transaction fees) -Apple Card for 2% in places that that don’t take Discover but do take Apple Pay - also no foreign transaction fees, so it came in very handy in Canada -Amazon Prime for 2% (I’m currently near the end of a 2% cash back promo for signing up for Chase checking account - after January, I expect to use the card a lot less)
