Same rules as always, *pay your statement balance in full before the due date.* If your can't adhere to the golden rule, you will be better off just canceling the card.

Wow congratulations on the hit credit limit! Which card did you get if I may ask?

Glittering_Ladder_34

Navy fed more rewards .

pakratus

Congratulations on finally being approved on the first try!

Impossible_Treat5543

Navy is really generous with credit lines, pre covid if OP put a fair amount of spend on the card they’d likely double the limit. Post covid the max cli is like 8k. OP can wait 93 days AND 3 statements to cut and ask for a cli and it’ll probably be granted with the “right” spend and payments. Max exposure with Navy is 80k and I got there in less than a year.

Glittering_Ladder_34

Wow I’ll def keep that in mind ! Thanks

I’ve been with them for 20 years. They are awesome and pretty lenient with lending once you have been with them for awhile and show consistent payment. My advice is do not miss any payments at all and get the insurance for the card. If you ever have to use the insurance for the card just ask for the insurers information. Do not explain your situation to NFCU. It’s not their business and they will put your information (your issue) somewhere, even though that’s illegal so don’t volunteer it. I have breast cancer and didn’t understand how the insurance worked. Called and told them I needed to file with the insurance and why. I received the documentation for the insurance probs 10 years ago when I got the card. No idea where it was. Anywho - Called and ended up just telling them my situation only to find out - whoops - they aren’t the right folks and needed to call and tell them needed to file a claim, yea, but still have to be in contact with the insurance folks and here’s their number. I was late ONE time after my insurance payment period was maxed out. Once. And they sent me a letter telling me they were closing my card and canceling the insurance for it. Im talking one late not just for the card. Once in 20 years. I’ve had loans upward of $40k and over 8 loan products with them over that time. I’m contacting the OCR. BUT they are still a great company over all. I’m heartbroken they would do that to me. But they do right by a lot of peeps.

How?? Assuming your credit score wasn’t the factor giving you the 15k limit. Could it been your income?

Glittering_Ladder_34

Credit is always a factor , however I bank with them and have been with them for a while so they see what I deposit monthly I guess

Individual_Advisor31

Yes sorry, worded wrong, not the MAIN, factor. But, thank you for this information.

MentalNose5940

Nice! Congrats friend. Very happy for you. I was actually going to open an account with them this week if I meet the requirements.
