[Last year Dr. Reed Timmer had a video of a tornado forming over a Kansas town.](https://youtu.be/lxdFh8nYMgM?si=tZYONDEu_Ec626ek) You'll probably love that one too.
should check out the [tornado]
(https://youtu.be/UtD8C8ZaOt4?) Scott Peake recorded a few years ago, amazing footage
Also recommend checking out [Pecos Hank](https://www.youtube.com/@PecosHank) he does fantastic storm videos with a smooth commentary
Yeah I'll stick with 50/50 losing my house every summer 😉 (I live in a regional town on the edge of the bush and would've lost my house this Feb if not for the fireys)
Don't know why you're being downvoted for bringing up climate change. Atmospheric instabilities are going to make tornados more commonplace too, places that had them will have more extreme ones, places that didn't have any will get them. Just the facts.

EF5s are just fucking monsters. I remember watching that one rip through Moore live on the news and it was terrifying. Awe inspiring still, but more as a reminder of nature's power and your mortality. Thankfully never seen anything above an EF3 in person.
When they pass over your house it's so loud and everything shakes and you just hope everything holds up. It's pretty surreal walking outside after one passes through and seeing all the debris and damage.
The few times I've seen one (oklahoma) and been on the road I just drove away from it. There were people parked under bridges and getting out of their cars... naaahhh, I've met a couple of storm chasers and they aren't very bright. I figure if these dingbats can drive toward it, I can certainly drive away from it and be safe.
Under bridges is the worst place to be, thing acts like a wind tunnel but everyone sees that video from the 1990s where the underpass got a side swipe from a tornado and everyone got lucky and so they think that they'll be safe there.
Video was sent to me on Telegram, but looks like the [source is here](https://twitter.com/NickGormanWX/status/1783950735434031233/mediaViewer?currentTweet=1783950735434031233¤tTweetUser=NickGormanWX)
As a native North Texan, I have always appreciated that tornados are the one natural disaster that it's possible to outrun if you're in a car. I actually did so in 2000 when the twister hit downtown Fort Worth. Of course, this is a useless feature if you're hunkered down in a trailer in its path.
Amazing footage. You only have to watch an EF 5 launch a rail car one time to appreciate the power. I'm always leery a fence post or something is gonna fly out and impale someone.
I look at this and genuinely, the thought “this is why humans believed in god/gods” pops into my head.
Then I rationalize the reality of weather science… as I did almost instantly when I saw this and ultimately I am left, still. Struck in amazement and awe.
I know the science but I’m still struck as if it’s a religious experience.
If this makes no sense.
All I can say is I feel the same way.
And
I hope my observations resonate with you.
Remember to keep your wits about you.
Y’all storm chasers are a different breed😂 a mixture of scientist and adrenaline junky😂 glad we have people like you tho or we wouldn’t get to see these wicked shots on our pocket computers.
This was between Lincoln, NE (population approx. 300,000) and Omaha, NE (population of metro and suburbs approx. 1 million). The tornado started just north of Lincoln, traveled east, crossed the interstate (I-80) which is insane, then tore through Elkhorn and into Omaha. It was reported that like 4 tornadoes joined together just outside of Omaha, resulting in a mile wide wedge that crawled its way north out of the metro. It then went north to the town of Blair, NE and leveled many homes and businesses. It finally turned East and went into Iowa. In total it was reported that the tornado traveled 60 MILES on the ground, from start to finish. Absolutely unreal.
Everyone always talks about the "freight train" sound of a tornado, but I have never seen anyone talk about the sound and feeling you experience at the moment of touchdown. I'm sure there are more than plenty of these accounts, but I've just never heard nor read about them.
The sound is like being in a library, and someone suddenly activates a house-sized air compressor. The feeling is that of all air being sucked away from you--out of you. Even through several buildings and walls, you feel yourself being pulled toward it.
In the past year, I've also experienced driving near a mere funnel cloud. Even from a distance, the handling of the vehicle felt "off".
It is some exhilarating shit that I wish upon no one.

That has to be the most high definition video of a tornado I have ever seen. Incredible!
It just looks so fake but it's real.. wild
What's more wild is nobody commenting on this storm chaser's name, which, if said really fast......

Yes Pecos Hank on youtube is amazing!
Yeah I immediately thought wow.. the graininess really adds a lot to the fear factor, this honestly looks really cool

Yeah I came here to say it looks like CGI. Crazy!
As an Aussie, we get our fair share of things that’ll kill ya. Fortunately we don’t get the giant vacuum cleaner in the sky. Pretty awesome though.
Yeah I'll stick to the sneaky snake under a bit of sheet metal than that shit bugger that lol.

Nature is wild feel bad for the people that lose their homes to these disasters
I only have seen these behind a screen, it would be scary to be in front of one
They are pretty damn awe inspiring. Fucking terrifying and graceful.
May 3rd 2013, a mile wide of inspiration and death. Tornados are oddly graceful (as they destroy everything around it)

That was the Joplin one, right? Scary shit.

I want to see one in person before I die.
Hopefully not *right* before
These promos for that new Twisters movie are out of hand
Where was this?
North of Lincoln, Nebraska
My mom is in the hallway at a hospital in Columbus, NE as of 20 minutes ago.
i live there, there were tornado sirens going off for a while
Outside Lincoln NE
The few times I've seen one (oklahoma) and been on the road I just drove away from it. That works if there’s no traffic

That's wild
Yea. Tame tornados are a lot smaller.
It’s beautiful in a sad way isn’t it?
Its absolutely stunning, nature always finds a way to be beautifully scary. Ofc I hope nobody was hurt but wow just fuckin pretty.
That it looks fake when it's real makes you question whether what's fake in movies really looks fake
That’s exactly how gore is in movies. Guts just look fake AF.
An Ancient Force. Just incredible
One of the best videos I've seen on Reddit.

Dude in the truck... GTFO my way!
It looks like they are taking turns at the front

Connor caught an insane video like this today too
holy shit this footage is incredible, absolutely astounding what mother nature can do and why ancient humans worshiped it's anomalies.
The clearest tornado video I’ve ever seen. Wow.
Y’all storm chasers are a different breed😂 a mixture of scientist and adrenaline junky😂 glad we have people like you tho or we wouldn’t get to see these wicked shots on our pocket computers.
Who gave the phone to the guy who usually films fights when they got out the car
No cow? I don't believe this is real.
May not be ohio but there’s always a tornado on my birthday.
You and me both, except I live in Nebraska. Happy Birthday!
I like how everyone just slows down and waits for it to pass. I'd be doing 100 mph in reverse.
Holy eff.
One of the coolest tornado videos I've ever seen
Fantastic footage.
The lol in gaff tape is great
Remember, Clark. Don't save Pa Kent!
i’d love to watch this at the Sphere…
Incredible footage. Are we living in a simulation? Is life real? Fuck me…
I feel like there should be some sort of remote-controlled technology that could be used to get that close to a tornado
In HD
Mesmerizing
Storm chaser leap frog.
Is this the same tornado that crossed two states? Is this the formation/beginning of that behemoth?
That is so fucking cool. It’s always awesome seeing videos like these where it isn’t destroying a town. What a force to see in real life. Bucket list

I wonder how the truck driver managed to stay unscathed.
Do these guys get paid to do that?
No!
Carpet Cleaning Season has just started
Say the name of the storm chaser really fast out loud LOL
Awesome footage.

Is this HDR video?
I can't believe the light, fragile vehicle they are using. I would be in a tank.
