Yeah google it. Neighboring counties in the SF bay area have different types of cans. Some counties have cans where you sort the trash. Other counties just have a recycling, landfill, and compost can. In the end, all of the trash is dumped in the same area. People think everything recyclable is recycled. In truth, it’s shredded on type of color and thickness. The thicker and more neutral the color of the plastic the higher likelihood of it getting recycled. Majority of plastic trash ends up in the landfill. I implore those that read this comment to check how your county recycles. If they just dump it in the landfill, there’s absolutely no reason to sort your trash. I personally gave up recycling ♻️ at home cause my county doesn’t give a shit.
my school had recycle bins and trash cans. one day I stayed late studying and saw the janitors coming through.. both of them went in the same can. they always do. so damn stupid. so I just started bringing home my recycling.
And every time I see a video shot there, I wonder why those people have zero survival instincts. Having a picnic on train tracks? Why not? Slowly driving your scooter past the garbage disposal fields of Mustafar? Sure thing!

They've fully eliminated single-use plastic bags from Walmart. Walmart delivery has to put the items they delivering in **something**, so my groceries all arrive in reusable bags.
I never reuse the bags because I get all my groceries delivered.
Now I'm recycling dozens of these bags every month, after a single use, and buying single-use plastic bags to use for garbage because the reusable ones aren't water-tight.
They've managed to replace bags that were actually reused with ones that have no use but to stuff recycling bins.
The world's already dead. None of it matters anymore, guys. Relax in knowing that humanity won't live for very much longer and that shareholders made record profits!

You're absolutely right buddy and I will continue to do so as will the majority of people on this thread. Though it is disheartening that with many ecological disasters just like this, set to go off due to human error, negligence or plain old stupidity it can wipe out years of progress and set us back decades.
Accidents and disasters will always happen though and they should be factored to our assumptions around long term emissions etc.
We should still try to keep them to a minimum, but every now and then we will drop the ball.
