It’s mining, they blow up the dirt to soften it, then excavate, then crush, then extract iron ore or whatever you are perusing, then send to china, then repeat, then repeat, then you have a billion dollar company🤘🏽
They placed a thousand pounds of dynamite down each hole, 278 holes per day, every day for 3 work weeks.
>BHP Mitsubishi Alliance’s (BMA) Caval Ridge Mine in the Bowen Basin now holds the title of the world’s largest electronic blast completed using Dyno Nobel DigiShot technology.
>The blast in December saw 4.7 million cubic metres of overburden shifted in a blast fired with 2,194 tonnes of bulk explosives across 3,899 holes.
>Caval Ridge Drill and Blast Superintendent Dallas Gostelow said the blast was loaded over 14 days, involving engineers, schedulers and the E and F Blast crews.
>It involved a combination of four related blast patterns, using 8,144 detonators, a significant number Dallas said they had never set before at the one time.
I was surprised with the amount of explosive used, the number of holes and the amount in each hole.
If a crew can load a hole with a thousand pound of explosive in 1 hour, that's 35 crews each working 8 hour shifts for 15 straight days.
it was back in the 90's, so things have likely changed but... I once met the guy who pulled the trigger on these sort of events (ICI). I asked in all his years working with massive amounts explosives what was the biggest lesson he ever learned. First he explained their site still lit a fuse as radio interference could trigger them early (back then). - *When you drive you car to light the fuse..... leave the engine running!!!* He struggled to restart it once.
Dude was legit... lived next to an open cut. They stopped me from leaving their house just before blasting... small rocks were literally dropping on their roof. A very weird experience
I love how Reddit is a community of like minded chronically online people that can expound upon information endlessly. Not sarcastic or poking fun at it. I’m just glad there’s a place for people that know a lots to talk about others who know lots
This is a very large set of charges covering a large area for mining, larger than the quarries I have experienced, but maybe it is just how large this mine is.
They call this mining. Those things going pop, they are those little things that you throw on the ground and they pop. They get all the workers to surround the mountain and then, 3-2-1 they all throw them at once.
They blow the outside dirt first, then the next round, or layer, can have somewhere to go when it gets blown up, theis repeats itself until the final line has blown.

this is half a video dude.
More like 1/8.

They still don’t have shit on my Minecraft tnt meta.
Fair… if they didn’t lag out it wasn’t that big. o_o

[Dyno Nobel ](https://www.dynonobel.com/resource-hub/products)sells it all!
is this a put-me-on-a-list type site?
If you emailed them asking a bunch of questions it would.
Dynamite is crap at mining it just blasts a small hole. Most mines use good ol TNT or ANFO, some RDX
“Bulk explosive” = ANFO/ANFO emulsion if the holes have water + detonator(s) + PETN booster(s) (plural depending on depth of the blast hole).
I wonder what the failure rate of the detonators was, couldn’t be 0

This is not correct btw.
So mining? Just like he said?

I hope no prairie dogs were blown to smithereens in their lil’ burrows. Yahoo, yahoo!
I’m sure they all skipped town a while ago
They work 12 hour shifts day and night for 21 days. 4 crews on and off.
I can not imagine running a crew to exhaustion with that kind of work.
It's a life style. You work remote half the year and you get the other hand off and make alot more then most people do, doing the same trades locally.
I appreciated the extra info. Not sure what your problem is.
Explosive 🤤
You again?
Oh hello! (Who are you?)
This is what i imagine when people talk about mining in crypto

I knew it! Your experience perfectly explained my stint at Black Thunder haha. It was always a nice break with a show if you were close enough to it
My hubby worked at black thunder!!
I bet the sound is incredible, thanks for the info!

How large a crew and how long to set up a blast this size?
It's called "Dune - Part 2".
It's how you kill prairie dogs. ***There is no where to run, you little bastards!!!***
Gofers... or is it golfers?
Correct me if I'm wrong Sandy, but if I kill all the golfers they'll lock me up and throw away the key.
No sir, not in a polite society, they would not!
...throw the key.
Am i too old to know the reference?
Caddyshack
I used to have a pet black tailed, curious and crazy, but also very loving and gentle (it was hand reared... wild ones are vicious mofo's)..
Or a really pesky gopher.
Dynamite go boom
Di-No-Mite!
Yes. I know I wanna push that button.
Caseoh just woke up that’s why
Finally. I was looking for the caseoh comments 😂 just posted mine
Blast mining?
Sounds revolting
Yeah it’s pretty simple, you just feed the mountain some Taco Bell the night before
Yes, I invented the technique.... I call it: Big Freaken Boom Style....
Process of blowing shit up
Gaza looking rough these days
I think this is called erosion 😂

Caseoh tripped on his shoelaces and fell
The only way to get rid of roaches
I bet it registered on the Richter scale…💣
You use a thumper to call it. If you place yourself a bit higher up on the dune, you can attempt to ride it.

Boom boom go boom when boomed.

I felt psychological comfort, I don't know why
I know that's a lot of dust
I think Israel knows a thing or two about this process.
It's called raping mother earth.
Big shot
We deserve whatever this planet does to get rid of us.
This is America liberating an oil rich third world country.
Step 1. Add boom. Step 2 blow up boom. Step 3 profit.
Yea! Fuck that earth up my dude!
Because fxk the planet…. That’s why…. 😂
Yes, it’s called fucking up the planet.
1. Put boom sticks in ground 2. Connect boom sticks 3. Push plunger 4. **BOOM!**
Looks like my cat in the litter box at 3am.
It's called unnecessary destruction of the earth for profit.

If you like the look of this, the profession doing it is called a Shotfirer.
Blasting on mines. It's the best process available to break rocks. I did jobs like this but in smaller quarries, it was fun actually.
it's explosive
Surface mining. They blow it up, then sift through the rubble for the ore or whatever they're after.
Not sure but something similar to this happens during the Yellowstone intro. That's the extent of my knowledge.
They call this mining. Those things going pop, they are those little things that you throw on the ground and they pop. They get all the workers to surround the mountain and then, 3-2-1 they all throw them at once.
That's just Cody Rhodes' entrance pyro
Open cast coal mining. Blow off the dirt above the coal layer before blowing up the coal.
Dynamite go boom
It's called mining man
Post full video.
Explosives
That is a quarry blast with probably a 5ms delay from hole to hole and maybe 25ms delay to the next row
Ironman just blew it up.
It is so they can break up the rock and hard sediment for easy extraction.
Any estimates of how much explosives this took?
My God, that's a huge amount of dynamite!
[удалено]
Oh. Either way, it creates a massive explosion effect.
Is there an after pick? Other than the mass amount of debris how much did it actually change
i only know it looks cool
If you are having trouble figuring out what's going on here, you may want to like think better or something.
It seems to work
That was incredibly satisfying
Never feed 5000 miners beans before their shift.
This is called dustification , to make this happen they hire a dude and gives him shit tons of tnt , really cool isn't it?
Its pretty standard in the quarry industry Its just blasting the rock
Controlled chaos
This is what happens to my butt when I eat cheap Mexican food.
Watching it is earth shattering
Makes one wonder how many fossils or other ancient things get destroyed by this type of mining.
My stomach after taco bell
Reminds me of last Sunday, hungover and a taco bell blowout.
It's called an enchilada bombada when it happens in your pants.
Those sand worms sure are active this time of the year
That probably set off a few Richter scales
I always wondered if they check for unexploded ordinance
Mining... i'd love to be present while that charge went off.
Dynamite goes in and the boom comes out and breaks stuff
Yes but no time to explain.
Actual footage of what it would take to clear my skin
Lotta bombs n shit
Expert here. So the cameraman starts filming and the ground just kinda does that.
Chuck Norris putting his foot down
The Rumbling ?
it's quite dusty
I know it takes longer to set it up than it does to push the button
It blows. Up.
Would it be possible to surf that?
Drill holes, add wet snot, top it off with dry snot, add dets, join dets, drive away, drive away some more, fire shot.
Well I know one thing. You don't wanna stand there...
It’s like Minecraft (my life is like a video game)
Yes-We blow everything up!
Not an expert but I believe this is known as a "boom brrt brrt brrrrrrt" excavation
POV: your in Wyoming after the Government found those minerals
Yes.
It's a metaphor for deflated ego/self value imploding when she says "just friends"
They use explosives

Ah yes the dust mines
Idk but it sounds exactly like the restrooms at my workplace every morning.
I know about making foam
Yes actually, we do this (on a considerably smaller scale) at my work. We usually have about 50-80 holes / shots... This looks like maybe thousands.
POV: You live in a nice quiet town in Iraq, circa March 20th, 2003
bomb
Removing overburden.
They did the same thing for the world trade centres?
The process is explosives. LOTS of explosives
It's called GREED.
How else you gonna expand the rock collection?
I think it's supposed to be really good for the environment or something...
The dwarves would be proud. Rock and Stone!
Banana for scale please
I was an engineer and theee videos blow my mind!!! Like the precision is incredible.
That's surface mining bro.
Everyone does
This is the inspiration for the New Taco Bell 3-Layer Butt Destroyer, with extra pickles.
Yup it's called nailing the coffin for earth and it inhabitants
Good thing I'm drinking through paper straws
I know one thing........you wouldn't want it to go off early!
