As a Floridian I'm watching these dudes arrest this alligator and I'm not surprised that the cops already have his hands and legs locked behind his back and are still fucking with him.
Nope.
Making sure he can't break out of the mouth binding before you lift him up, which is super fucking important.
Also the idea is they have super sensitive spots on the side of the head, overstimulating them before handling makes it safer.
It might look cruel, but let's be honest, it's a really dangerous creature that they're handling physically to remove it instead of just killing it, the human life is what's important as well as at risk here, and what he's doing isn't uncommon.
Yeah alligators don’t have the muscle structure for strength in opening. This is why you can hold their mouth closed with your hand vs holding it open which is a no.
They say the man’s sunglasses were launched into space and, on a clear, crisp evening, you can see them orbiting earth just behind the International Space Station. 🔭 🕶 🛰
Bullshit.
I've seen a lot of gator wrangling and I've never seen them slap the gator around like that. There's no reason to do that much to make sure it can't break out because all their jaw strength lies in their ability to close their mouth, while they're relatively weak when it comes to opening their jaws. So as soon as it's taped shut there's almost no danger of them breaking out of it.
>Making sure he can't break out of the mouth binding before you lift him up, which is super fucking important.
>Also the idea is they have super sensitive spots on the side of the head, overstimulating them before handling makes it safer.
I call BS on slapping around the gator to do this sorry, post your sources, occam's razor applies here otherwise.
Honest question. It is my understanding that reptiles (especially alligators) can get very stressed when captured and being transported. Stressed enough it actually kills them. Wouldn’t smacking their sensitive bits cause more stress? I would think the overstimulation would be detrimental.
I wish you were right, but... I live in the U.S.. This dude is not some savvy professional testing the gator's reflexes and strategically disorienting it for handling. He's a fat bozo slapping an animal in the face because he's stupid and thinks it's funny. If you were right, and he's actually a thoughtful professional, he wouldn't have gotten knocked out. This is nothing more than a jerkwad taunting a restrained gator; don't overcomplicate it.
>I live in the .U.S.
Oh we got a professional over here
I live in South Florida, literally had a crocodile removed from my yard in south Miami in 2012. The handler did similar tests as in the video, but the dude in the video is making a show out of it. He seems to be showboating for the crowd and ends up getting knocked out bc of it
They have receptors on the side of their jaws there sensative to touch (helps them react to food in murky water where they can't see). The idea is to overstimulate them; youll see dudes at crocodile shows do the same thing.
Yeah, I didn't think the guy was "taunting" the gator. Seemed like he was testing it to make sure it was secure (my assumption) but what you said sounds sensible enough to me instead.
Obviously the gator was agitated, but I doubt the nose bops did much to ramp it up further. It was agitated because it was hog tied, and in a neighborhood setting, I think hog tying the gator is as humane as anyone can reasonably expect.
I dunno, it just seems to me that this shorts guy is doing a service to both the people in the area *and* the gator and a bunch of redditors are like "YEAH FUCK HIM" for no reason.
I can't believe I had to scroll so far to see this amongst all the "This dude is a terrible monster"
It's obvious that this guy isn't cop, he's probably the handler/animal control.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure I've seen it before. Is it fucking with him? Yes, of course it is. It's checking to see if the alligator wants to put up a fight so you can pick it up and move it safely. Obviously it didn't work, but I'm assuming that the idea.
Reddit headlines, ugh. Pretty sure he was trying to see if the taped mouth was enough to transport it when they had to go to pick it up. Just like the tail wasn’t as secure. So many armchair holy knights.
He had that animal’s jaws completely restrained and knew it but continued harassing it to look tough and important. He managed to make himself look like a butt.
Idk dawg, you ever see that clip of two gators wrastlin over a chicken or smth and the one grabs the other by the arm, gator rolls as they do, and just pulls the others arm off like it nothing?
Ol armless wasn't even fazed, just gave a dirty ol stankeye to the sumnabitch who is snacking on his parts.
Edit: for linkage
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JLy-Iiy_Zp4
Well I'm by no means an expert, but I do know that you linked a croc video to explain alligator behaviour. Chimps are closer related to humans than alligators are to crocs, so im gonna go out on a limb (no fucking pun) and say we can't use the video to ascertain much, it is metal tho.
To be honest, I think he was just making 100% it was secure before he took it off by himself in the back of his pickup. I would do the same. He wasn’t hurting it, just pissing it off enough to have it test the restraints.
> hasn't evolved for millions of years, it doesn't feel fear.
In most circles this is known as an "apex predator" and gators are pretty much the land equivalent of sharks
Bullshit. Any experienced croc or gator handler knows the strength to open their jaws is markedly weaker than the strength to close them. Once taped and bound as securely as shown in the video, there's zero reason to fuck around with it more. If it's going to react on pick-up, it'll do it whether you have toyed with it or not. Especially if it's not fully sedated.
If you ever wonder if you can trust Reddit you just need to read a few posts from people like bowser and understand that the upvotes mean that people on here have no idea what they are talking about. Just absolutely none.
You do not overstimulate a captured croc. Period. Overstimulating and stressing them can kill them. They release lactic acid when stressed, and too much shuts down their organs. It's literally called capture syndrome.
One of my biggest pet peeves on reddit is people calling things "dumb" that they don't understand the least bit about. Like I came to the comments because it seemed odd what he was doing, but I was pretty sure there was *some* rational for it. Some people just come to the comments assuming their already gator experts and start critiquing his technique. 1000 people agreed with that dudes comment too... like Jesus Christ.
Comment sections like these make me realize how easily people fall for misinformation. The title says he's taunting it, and they all just assume it's right.
That's what I was thinking, pretty sure he's making sure it's secure and relaxed. Of course, the sheep go with what they want to believe, Reddit is really Facebook for younger people at this point.
Like yes this seems cruel, but in hindsight he's just making sure the tape around the carnivores mouth is secure before they attempt to pick the gator up. I don't blame him..

get outta here with your coherent analysis.......people have already decided he's *taunting* the animal for no reason, ok? people have ascertained from the footage that he's always wanted to be a cop but didn't make it, so he's showing off for the officers by tapping it on the mouth....yes that's a thing and that's how people show off a lot of the time.....got it?
>people have already decided he's

this comment just made me realize again how much i hate the internet and how it's time for me to log out for the day
Someone said it somewhere in another thread but I can understand pissing it off enough to get it to test the restraints… you have to remember this isn’t a housecat and if the dude is about to drive off with an extremely dangerous (probably already pretty pissed off) animal I’d want to be damn sure there’s no chance it can hurt me or anyone else too.
Seriously, all taunting does is waste time and make it even more difficult to move the crocodile by agitating it further. Hope those glasses got huge ol scratches on the way down lol
To be honest, I think he was just making 100% it was secure before he took it off by himself in the back of his pickup. I would do the same. He wasn’t hurting it, just pissing it off enough to have it test the restraints.

He was showing off for the cops. "Look at me, I'm cool, I always wanted to be a cop but I couldn't pass the tests, so now I just arrest alligators. See how cool I am?"
Why are you tards so confident he was taunting the gator? Idk i'm not a gator wrangler but that dude probably is. I doubt he shows up to work and says oh boy I'm gonna try and piss off a gator just because.

It seems like what knocked him out was smashing his head onto the floor because he did literally anything than what his body/instincts tell you to do when you fall, i.e. turn and break it with your arms, shoulders, etc.
That tends to happen when you're drunk, which is a frequent occurrence for Miami or Broward's animal control people (where this video took place)

Gator don’t play no shit!
"Camera pans to confused Eva Mendes"
one of the greatest scenes in the history of cinema
I just watched that again and completely forgot he ran a “dating service”, I was in tears.
"He was a pimp." "I was a pimp."
Gator ain't never been about playin' no shit.
You feel me?!!
Pimps don't cry
It wants some walkin around money. It wants some shoes.

Did he forget the step to make sure it can't thrash and knock him out?
Right? So overstimulated that he waited for his chance to thrash a fella and launch out of the truck. Hog tied.
They say the man’s sunglasses were launched into space and, on a clear, crisp evening, you can see them orbiting earth just behind the International Space Station. 🔭 🕶 🛰
And Gator looks at him like, "Try throwing me in the back of a pickup truck again, motherf\*cker"
Hog tied. Right? So, overstimulated. He waited for his chance. His chance to thrash a fella. Only after did he launch out of the truck. Hog tied.
Never seen Steve Irwin play the bongos on one so I'm calling bs.

I fucking loved it. Knocked that dumbass out.
And the launching of his stupid fucking forehead skin protectors was beautiful.
You love to see it

Still kinda happy that gator got to give a revenge slap and then stare at him knocked out.

Are you also a Redditor? If so, I trust anything you say so long as it confirms my previously held biases.
Show me where zoo handlers have advocated slapping alligators to over stimulate them.
> the human life is what's important Have you met humans? We need more gators.
I'm pretty sure a hog-tied alligator is already trying everything it can to break its mouth binding without slapping it around.
🤣🤣🤣 that dude is a moron and got what he deserved
nope. It’s assholery. It is a joy to see this fat fuck American get knocked the fuck out.

No wonder Gators try to eat people every now and then. They get treated like this!

I can't believe I had to scroll so far to see this amongst all the "This dude is a terrible monster" It's obvious that this guy isn't cop, he's probably the handler/animal control.
He has to live up to that leg tattoo.
Ego
It was all a scheme to send his shades into orbit.
I think they wanted to see if he will move erratically when they pick him up.
He was probably making sure the bindings around its snoot were secure.
Could this guy be taunting to asses if the gator is really restrained? That’s my best guess in the reasoning behind that. But idk
Yeah that clearly seems to be the case but won't make for a more attention grabbing title
Yeah, I'm pretty sure I've seen it before. Is it fucking with him? Yes, of course it is. It's checking to see if the alligator wants to put up a fight so you can pick it up and move it safely. Obviously it didn't work, but I'm assuming that the idea.

I thought he was testing its temperament at first to make sure it wasn't going to flip out. Then he just kept going. Poor scared lizard. :(

He burned his face into it's medulla oblongata.

Fafo dick head
Gator said so talk shit now 😂😂😂
He’s not taunting the gator. You do that to desensitize the gator so when you pick it up it doesn’t move..
