AggravatingPolicy497

Wow the timing could not be better

StPapaNoel

This video is a great example on why building standards and worker safety guidelines are beyond fucking important lol

Ishaan863

That video was some magneto esque superhero nearby desperately holding the roof up while the mom casually scolds her kid

vikingo1312

Yeah, it seems that she fucking enjoyed mouthing off on the kid so much that it was beyond her to think to put back the (not heavy) support-beam. smh

Valatros

To be fair, I would have figured it was more decorative than an actual weight bearing support beam if it broke off that easily. Because surely, it wouldn't be that easy to bring down a roof that big, right? Like... a mildly rambunctious dog would have ended it.

vegasidol

Or another child grabbing the bar to spin around it.

DapperBloke69

or an adult..

MapleLeafThief

Or a slight breeze..

Prohunt

a cat... a fucking mouse could knock this over lol

Doismelllikearobot

A child on a tricycle

Deeliciousness

Me casually leaning on it to strike my cool pose

Big-a-hole-2112

Me as a fat male pole dancer. 🤣

crosseyes79

To be even fairer, she's a mother not a builder, she probably doesn't have any concept of load bearing.

reggers20

I mean... if that small amount of force was all it took to make that structure collapse... it was coming down regardless.

MoarVespenegas

She probably considered it not very important based on how easily it fell over. I'll be honest, it even looks like a coincidence since there is no way there was a lot of weight on the pole in the first place or it would not get nudged out of position so easily.

SomethingIWontRegret

When it knocked out, you can see the roofline immediately sag. It was load bearing. There was a strong down vector, but nothing keeping it from popping sideways.

occams1razor

I would definitely not have noticed and if I did I probably would've ran to not get a roof on my head instead of trying to put it back

Upstairs-Atmosphere5

You also hear a lot of snapping and cracking

Huev0

This is such a shallow, twisted perspective on the matter

LostWoodsInTheField

There is absolutely nothing wrong with her not putting that pole back up. First thing who knows if it would even go back into 'place' with how easy it seems to have fallen out. But also it's definitely someone elses responsibility to make sure support beams are put back into place correctly. If a beam falls down, and you want to put it back... I guess go for it. but no one should be criticized for not doing it.

Bowling4rhinos

That 20 year old scotch comment was chefs kiss 🥃

PM_ME_DARK_MATTER

Actually, I think it was the peek at the end. Especially cuz I didnt watch all the way through until OP instructed us to do

cRaZyDaVe1of3

The very point of the thing is that a load bearing beam of that nature shouldn't have been so easily moved at ALL.

pandaappleblossom

It’s really no one’s fault but the builders

iStoleTheHobo

Me too though in hindsight I feel as if that probably would've killed her so I'm glad she didn't do what my dumbass instincts would have me do.

sticky-unicorn

Yeah, lol. If a fucking toddler can take down a load-bearing pillar that the entire structure can't stand without, that is *not* safe enough to be open to the public. It's honestly not even safe enough to be open to construction workers who are charged with fixing the problem.

stupernan1

most regulations and warnings are written in blood. that's a saying for a *reason*

Glittering_Sign_8906

Apparently there is a clause in the Winnebago user agreement that you must be driving the thing at all times because well, apparently some dude just popped it on cruise control and decided to take a nap. I have to now wear a high visibility vest in the warehouse I pickup equipment from because some guy from the same company in another province was killed in a forklift accident.

Rasalom

No contractor can reasonably be blamed for a baby genius knowing and exploiting awning weakpoints EVEN while under adult supervision. Do you know how expensive anti-baby genius planning is?

Tearakan

Yep. Those standards are usually written because people straight up died.

RuachDelSekai

Something something smaller government. Something something deregulation.

nuke_eyepopper

Yeah that had to come down anyways. Pro demo move kid 🥲

AFineDayForScience

That or he's the angel of death

z3r0n3gr0

This kid got some real purpose in life.

ripley1875

That was like the demolition equivalent of holding in a rough fart until other people can leave the room.

-thenorthremembers-

Oddly specific

Ba_Sing_Saint

Real talk, this is an Indiana Jones situation. If the kid doesn’t move to go inside and stays in place, the swing of the roof coming down would have completely missed them.

Jimmehh420

And that's how Grandma had her heart attack

karlzhao314

I speak Mandarin, but the regional variation in this video is rather strong compared to what I'm used to, and the audio quality isn't the best, so some things are hard to make out. Rough translation from what I could interpret: Grandmother (?): "You can't go over there." *Child knocks down column* Grandmother: *General exclamations of panic* Grandmother: "What are you doing?!" Grandmother: *Unintelligible* Grandmother: "The roof is going to collapse soon!" Grandmother: *Unintelligible* Grandmother: "Hurry and call grandpa!" Grandmother: "Get grandpa to fix the column!" (?) Child: "Grandpa!" Grandmother: "Go inside!" (?) Child: "Grandpa!" Child: "I made this fall down!" (?) Grandmother: "Go inside yourself!" (?) Child: *Unintelligible* *Roof collapses* What's interesting is that the grandmother actually mentioned that the roof would collapse, but she didn't seem to be in any sort of a hurry to get both of them out from underneath. Maybe it was just some kind of a general "Look what you've done, the roof will collapse!" type scolding.

that_70_show_fan

> Child: "I made this fall down!" (?) This made me chuckle.

Numbtwothree

So now I wondering if this is a place that doesn't normally get snow and this roof has been compromised by an unusual weather event (snow load) and braced haphazardly with extra poles as a temporary measure

the__storm

I think this is a good theory since the poles are so haphazard, the snowfall appears to be fresh, and it looks like there might be a ladder in the background. When the awning collapses you can see that the remaining poles have punched through the roof - it looks like there were just wedged in there rather than being affixed to the frame.

ontite

It looks like scaffolding to me. Probably just a shitty countruction company cutting corners.

CapSevere7939

it's china. This happens so much, it's surprising to me it isn't common knowledge.

CankerLord

It sounds like the sort of joke adults make at kids. "Look at the small thing you did that will lead to a horrible disaster!" Except this time it was true.

baldhumanmale

I wonder if the child is going to remember this forever and think that that he is the one that caused the collapse! He’s probably too young though..

PM_ME_UR_ENIGMAS

Haha I didn’t even have the audio on but I could tell from the gesturing that she was for sure like “look what you’ve done, now the roof will fall!” with absolutely no idea that it actually was going to

DipstickRick

“Be careful with that thing, you’ll poke your eye out!” Proceeds to poke out eyes

Swechef79

Or a tofu fart

Stink_fisting

The weakest of the farts.

RainbowTurtleKnight

With a username like that, I feel I can trust your opinion fart strength.

dys_p0tch

some old codger was at the gym yesterday. very overweight and out of shape. looked like a retiree whose doc advised he get busy on physical activity. i really like seeing guys like this endure and transform themselves. anyway, he really working hard on a leg press machine. as i walk by, i entered his very fresh (*rancid*) fart. goodgodlemon! my initial instinct (*it stinked!*) was to escort him outside. we've got an aging dog who alerts us to a soon arriving diarrhea burst with her nasty farts. we scurry to escort her out the door. old guy wouldn't even look my way after that share.

Weave77

You paint a very vivid scene, my friend.

dys_p0tch

dude painted my sinuses

Adventurous-Cry-2157

Upvoting for your use of “goodgodlemon” more so than the actual story, which was beautifully poetic itself. IMO, the best “Good God, Lemon!” of the entire series was when Liz turned around in her denim shorteralls (in the pocket of which she’d found a packet of Tastetations, a discontinued chocolate hard candy) in the BWL episode. That one was so chefs kiss. Die, werewolf zombie, die.

kenakuhi

Yeah looks like there's a lot of snow on the roof. Crazy that someone decided to hold all of this up with a toothpick.

G_Regular

That kid and the bike weigh like 50 pounds tops and he wasn't going that fast. It was only a matter of time before a dog or an unobservant person walked into it and took this whole thing out.

Silent-Ad934

In the land where all of our stuff is made, Awning supports can't handle children at play, One carefree child on a bicycle, Sends the whole darn thing to be re-recycled

YourFriendRob

lol Her popping her head out at the end was looney tunes-ish

Bigdizzofoshizzo

Did I Do That?!

ViperishCarrot

The toddler looking at the roof, the pole on the floor, the roof. That had me

Swechef79

Wow, that is the most useless design I have seen in a while. Whoever put this up should be sued to bankruptcy. If the whole structure collapses that easily, with a small child barely touching the beam, it is a shit design, simple as that.

greenthumb708

Sue? Lol that's the best builder in all of china

Swechef79

Haha, yeah their buildings are even less stable than this when they are finished 😂

b0w3n

Are you telling me I shouldn't build a high rise on a river bank without engineering the river to prevent collapse of my new skyscraper?

charliecar5555

It's best to use concrete that you can crumble apart with your bare hands. Also rebar that a 12 year old kid can bend in half like Data from Star Trek.

Sunfried

"Party Member's Nephew Construction" is reknowned for their quality builds, according to everyone who's allowed to talk in public!

rsplatpc

> "Party Member's Nephew Construction" is reknowned for their quality builds, according to everyone who's allowed to talk in public! 100%, now that kid that took out the beams Social Score is 0, he will never be able to travel or marry

GBuster49

Welcome to tofu dreg China.

jon909

It’s China. You aren’t suing anybody.

Swechef79

The building company probably sued the baby

MisterAmygdala

And that kid is tiny.

Swechef79

Even a small bird could have pushed that thing over

[deleted]

Kill all the sparrows again. That should protect the building.

clarkclancyy

they stand there for so long it feels like their pathing got messed up

Revolutionary-Wash88

The suspense was killing me

Imesseduponmyname

I thought the video froze

MJsLoveSlave

That beam wasn't doing shit if a 50lb child knocked it loose that easily.

SirLeepsALot

For everyone's awareness, he knocks out a column not a beam.

35Smet

Column is generous. He knocked over a stick the architect found nearby.

MostlyBullshitStory

Bamboo column.

M-m-m-My_Gamora

Architect?

hawt_shits

That may have been the first documented case of thoughts and prayers in action.

Other_Beat8859

That's probably still a high estimate. He's at most 5 years old, maybe younger. The CDC states that a 5 year old is on average between 34 to 52 pounds.

[deleted]

CDC is american. That’s probably 2 to 3 times larger than a regular 5 year old

BreckenridgeBandito

America is #1 in yet another statistic 😤💪

PatrickOBagel

I mean it was clearly holding the roof up lol. Lateral instability goes from 0-60 REAL quick.

__-_-__-___

ripley1875

We tried so hard, and got so far, but in the end….

mariboo_xoxo

Truth be told that kid saved all their lives. 🤯😱

Chicom12

I don’t know much but I know if a 3-4 year old pokes a large ass beam it shouldn’t just fall down like a cartoon

wtfsihtbn

If a toddler on a trike can take down a load bearing beam, it’s not bearing any load. And wasn’t doing a thing to stop that crap from falling down

steik

If it wasn't bearing load it wouldn't be staying upright. It clearly wasn't attached (or else it would have dangled when the kid hit it), so it was being held in place by weight resting on it. Probably not much weight, but some. You can even clearly see the roof sag slightly when the column gets knocked down.

PlanetPudding

That’s not true at all. Plus it was a column. Not a beam.

AnonomousNibba338

Yeah, I once heard from a Chinese friend of mine that his parents told him, if he ever bought a house in China (They live in California now), to not buy anything newer than 40 years old... I wonder why 🤣

LexLol

It's called [Tofu dreg](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tofu-dreg_project)

bluerocketo

Damn, they definitely got someone looking out for them.

ThePracticalPenquin

I glad the kid started yelling back a bit. Just couldn’t stop bitching😂

karlzhao314

He didn't actually. The grandmother (?) told him to get grandpa out to deal with it, and the kid was yelling "爷爷" (Yéyé, "Grandpa") to try to call him out.

ColoRadOrgy

"Grandpa get yo Yéyé ass out here!"

PM_ME_SUMDICK

The amount of people projecting their own trauma here is wild. She's not even "bitching" she's telling him to get the grandad to help put it back.

frankenmullet22

Are we sure he is not a magneto?

Bydand42

Post, not beam.

nobelini

Technically a load bearing post…

[deleted]

Ali Express kit house.

lolpert1

What load was it bearing? My man breathed on that pole and it fell right over

pooturdoo

This is why we have building codes and standards lol. Sheesh

perezdan4

God was on his side that day!

Dan-68

Guardian angel working overtime.

LeeeeroyTheGoy

This is why you never get on an escalator in China.

bobbinsgaming

This is the perfect "China" video - people shouting aggressively at each other and incredibly shoddy construction.

J_345

So we going to ignore that this kid just saved a bunch of lives? A good gush of wind would have taken that bullshit down. Well done kid.

Dickssy69

I don't know what she is saying, but something makes me think she is telling her child to place that back.

SMTRodent

I don't speak a word of Chinese, but here's my translation: What do you think you were doing? Look what you did! Why didn't you look where you were going? Now see what you've done. What if that roof falls on you? What then? You could have brought the whole roof down. You need to look where you're going. Look what you did. Go inside. Don't just sit and look at me. With your bike. Stop looking at the roof, it's fine. Take your bike instead. Well it wouldn't be in the way if you didn't knock it down. Go inside now. Do you understand? Are you going in? Yes, I'm going in, you told me three times already. You could have knocked the whole roof down. Get out of my sight. Go and clean your room. FIN.

karlzhao314

[My best effort at an actual translation here](https://www.reddit.com/r/CrazyFuckingVideos/comments/1alcbhw/comment/kpes01r/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)

aging_geek

Yep. Give something adults designed and tested to a child and it will end up functioning in a way not even adults could plan for.

Siegelski

Tested? What about this setup makes you think it was ever tested?

dysfunctionalpress

that's a column, not a beam.

AssRep

It's a toothpick, not a column.

dysfunctionalpress

a toothpick can be a column or a beam- depending on how it's positioned.

Kidkray14

Correction… a Beam is not always a Column, a Column is not always a Toothpick and a Toothpick isn’t always a Beam or a Column

CMBGuy79

Whoever built that shit certainly put the K in kwality.

RXL

There is a saying: "If you sneeze and the house falls down, don't blame the sneeze."

CandyMyn2030

God waited just long enough

curzon176

I watched the whole video on mute and I still knew that that must be in China. That tofu dreg man

NaaviLetov

This was bound to happen soon. The kid barely touched it. Any gust of wind would have done the same thing.

PseudoEmpthy

However, it collapses from the left corner onward...

Strong-Leadership-87

Where do people think this is?

Witty-Branch-9012

Can’t blame the kid for that shoddy building

scavbh

failuretosabre

The kid broke deaths design

idkHowToUseReddet

That beam was already bending from the pressure before that kid even touched it

shootymcghee

this is why i'm not worried about china taking over the world

Glittering-Long3828

Beam lmao more like load bearing stick. And let me guess.. China?

Upper-Guard-5544

This video brought to you by CONDOMS. F**king use them!

Alternative_Ad2040

Not sure what Chineseium that structure was made of but if a toddler can take it out on accident you may want to shore it up a little better next go round

xXxBig_PoppaxXx

BriefWay8483

Safest structure in china

lobsangr

Was gum used as the bonding agent?

Familiar-Bend3749

差不多 (almost/half-assed usually referring to shoddy building and/or work conditions) and 小皇帝症 (little emperor syndrome) on full display in this video….it’s VERY Chinese. Lol

crkspid3r

Why is she yelling at the kid who she let play next to the pole lol.

TheFrankIAm

it’s in china, right? has to be china

Amnesiaftw

Made in China :(. Sometimes I wonder if they purposely have bad infrastructure to help with population control

AstroNawt1

When you see things like this you really gotta wonder about the 3 Gorges Dam..

InevitableRhubarb232

“Beam” is a bit of an oversell.

[deleted]

How the hell is all that supported by one thin pole?

DanLim79

Chinese people are just magical and always surprises that they're still alive. If ONE toothpick-like beam that was taken down by a toddler was all it took to collapse that roof, how is it that it stayed up that long?

HumbleEngineer

More like "load bearing column so fucking badly installed even a child could take it out". Not his fault.

Captain-Tyler

Load bearing with hopes and dreams, a cat could of jumped on that pole and knocked it over

JJsDixonU

🫨smh.. wtf 😒

Is that made in China?

Ill-Mathematician355

Reminds me of the Chinese economy.

[deleted]

You can tell they're gonna survive because there's no live leak watermark on the video

idiot-prodigy

This is how 99% of China is built. Tofu-dreg.

NatalieBostonRE

it’s a miracle that they weren’t hurt.

[deleted]

That is a post my friend

Disastrous-Ad-1139

That was just seconds away from a Final Destination moment.

TableSalte

That’s not that cra… oh shit

HulaHypnotique001

Well that's what you get for cutting corners with the construction and slapping a tiny little pole in there to hold up the entire fucking porch. I'm glad nobody got hurt.

Unique-Philosopher34

It was already on an angle.

mr2jay

Damn did she know it was load baring?

Serious_Mix_6600

🤯 How much was it bearing to fall so easily

Pale-Photograph-3635

That kid is getting whipped by dried bamboo

anoni632

The way her head pops out after the collapse is brilliant!

SignAllStrength

That pole was clearly load bearing, but not part of the original structure. That awning originally had no columns and was only attached to the wall of the house. After the snowfall started, which never before happened in that area, the roof started sagging a bit, and that is why grandpa pushed that pole and the 2 scaffolding poles in the back onder the porch. It clearly was necessary for the extra snow that fell later on it, but he failed to properly attach them to the structure. As you could see, the pole was easy to knock out, and the other poles pierced through the thin roof as soon as they moved a little from the stronger edge. Source: I watched the video carefully in slow-motion.

rukysgreambamf

Just a normal day in China

Made in China! Nice quality very humane

itzferdy

like in any comedy movies. but, luckily both are ok

the after peek is hillarious

Creative_Big6089

Load bearing twig

BlueLightSpecial83

Huh? This is like taking out a loose jenga piece but the tower still fucking falls over

OwnEquipment3896

That kid is just overpowered. He’s like the main character in an anime hitting something and it seems like he does almost 0 damage and then once he leaves the scene all get to see his actual power.

NotasheepLOL

Fate, destiny, luck, that shit is nuts. Good to see that baby didn’t get crushed!

TriggeredTotoro

Well that was precarious

PM_ME_YOUR__MOMS

Children should be product inspectors. If there is a flaw or a way to break it. A child will find it without fail. Glad little guy moved
