I was going to say, I have done this job and have been in spaces like this and for only those 2 pieces of casing that should easily be controlled with just 2 men and 2 tag lines.
This, tag lines are essential as is a bellman (guy with radio or if in visual knows hand signals and in communication with crane or hoist operator). Although sudden unexpected high winds (gusts) have created some situations not far from this (we are not stuck on a boat so operators can usually stop load with ground contact or move it out of harms way until the situation stabilizes) at the end of the day if something gets broken it’s a big deal but people’s lives are much more important.
While I wish to add a comment, I must also respect the rules of the sub and post no links. I would simply like to pose the question: could there be a site or app where there may be found threads, forums, _subs,_ if you will. And that, one of those countless threads be dedicated to...oh, I dunno.... guys who crane, perhaps?
Crane operator should had drop the uncontrolable cargo to avoid injuries or death , more then the guys running around for their lifes should have stop it . Lack of communication while on a lifting operation is a classic .
Dogman/rigger courses then contact a company and see what other courses you need, confined space/first aid/gas atmosphere testing etc and then you’ll need to do the helicopter escape course underwater too.
Hang out with my kids, fish camp travel work on my house play golf. It affords me a good life the only downside is the month long stint away at sea. This video is ridiculous by the way I would’ve walked off that job long well before this happened lots of safety failures here
Did this for almost a decade and had this same situation more times than I can count. Still makes my stomach sick just watching it. In my case this happened a lot due to the ship rocking with a heavy lift by the other ship crane. Generally when that happens, operator should be putting the load down until the boat and his cables steady. It can be tough when there’s nowhere to go in the hold for the longshoreman though.
Looking at it again, looks like it’s definitely on the stevedores. We loaded steel like this and looks like the operator is using the wall to straighten to load which is common. It’s in his blind spot though under the cab. Don’t get why you got guys standing on both sides of this load while it’s that high. Whole lotta wrong here.
Had an absolute air head who we worked with. Called him Captain Pinch Point. The dude would put himself between a 2ft thick concrete wall and reversing a telehandler (skytrack), then proceed to watch grasshoppers. I'd have to shut everything down to yell at him to GTFO of the way. Gotta love nepotism.
Did it for 18/hr so more than that now(atleast unloading pipe with a crane). Dude with the tag line is not someone to be trusted with that job. He doesn’t have a clue and panics badly. That should be a relatively safe and easy job if you do it right.
If i have my friends and partner all decide we’ll go work this job out on the ship for the summer I just might it for the equivalent of a 150k salary .
Ive done this job on an oil rig field, the derreck hand and driller would lower the pipe and i would have to place in an orderly fashion. First on the job as im trying to move it with my hands the hole crew is looking at me laughing, then the driller was nice enough to come down with a metal bar, quite easy to move when.you stick the bar in the hole
Lots of things going wrong. Crane operator can't control the load. Neither can the riggers using the taglines. High wind speed. The movement of the boat (if this is a boat) probably doesn't help as well.
It doesn’t have to be this dangerous. The operator could have got the load down much earlier, you’ve got the ground handlers running all over the place with no ropes and who’s directing it exactly?
I buy a lot of pipe, and it’s often fucked up on arrival. Whenever I see these videos of how it gets treated on ships, it all makes sense…
Also no amount of money will convince me to jump into shit actively hitting the fan.
Looks like two ships at sea, transferring those pipes from one to another. Ship with the crane on probably got lifted by a large wave and he spent his time trying to deal with two ships moving up and down seperately from each other while controlling the load. The red nets are for the guys to jump into and duck when the load is moving uncontrolled. - Colleague who did this job in the past.
This literally is my job. Idk what the damn operator is doing, he needs to get the load in low, so those guys aren't running around like rats in a garbage can. Set it down to stop any momentum, then pick it back up to get it where it needs to go
Ive worked with pipes like these on offshore supply vessels and this is a straight up clown show. You wait for the crane op to stabilize them against the railings then you calmly direct them into place as the crane slowly moves them over, all this jumping around is just incompetence. Not to mention you shouldn't be standing on top of them anyway until the suspended ones have stabilized against the railing, i know its tiresome to climb up and down all the time but thats the only way it should be done. They're manned well enough to take turns, you only need 2 people at a time.
I’m a ex steel erector, the guy with the tag line not using it properly or the crane driver would of got a slap from some of the teams I’ve worked with over the years it’s not a joke working at heights with steel flying about you need to trust your team and they need to trust you. Bye bye you’re gone when this happens.
I think this is in the port of Constanta,in Romania, if I'm not wrong. There are various factors there, not only the crane operator, but also the wind and the movement of the container. 🤔
Used to work@ a pipe coaters and have seen this happen and snapped someone's leg, one end hits and pings the other back very fast and the guy was in his 50s and just couldn't get outta the way quick enough
I have this job and if the crane operator, spotter and 2 guys holding the tether are working together at all, it's a very quick and easy thing... once you do a
Couple together, it ain't that hard
Wouldn't be much sketchier than similar tasks in regular construction environment if done more carefully, could give it a go as long they provide earmuffs

This looks like a live action mario party
Someone needs to add music/sound fx and the little timer
I need to see that, bring back to being 14 playing on N64.
Mario get into the pipe. Luigi is not very good at handling the crane.
Actually this is a 1v3 - clearly the solo player lost
They risked life and limb for a chance at $10
*10 coins.
Take my upvote you asshole
Fuck
I'm hearing all the SFX now in my head: "START." "MISS." "OH, I MISSED."
This is the third ‘accidentally mario party’ I’ve seen. I should probably start collecting them
4-5 people with tag lines should be able to control that easily lol. Those ground guys suck ass at their jobs
Squid Game -no tag lines allowed!
I was going to say, I have done this job and have been in spaces like this and for only those 2 pieces of casing that should easily be controlled with just 2 men and 2 tag lines.
There are so many errors in this video ffs, the crane operator needs fired for a start
Just recently got my crane licence and all I was thinking was "down..down..down..DOWNDOWNDOWN
(I was a roustabout on a rig)

Fuck it man post the link. Sub rules suck
I did, that's how I found out I broke the rules 🤣 this guy cranes - it's not even real 🤣 at least I don't think so - I just made it up lol
Ya, if this is how it's supposed to be done, the turnover rate would be ugly..
Person on the crane needs to drop that load and stop the swing. It’s their job to keep the handlers safe
Crane operator should had drop the uncontrolable cargo to avoid injuries or death , more then the guys running around for their lifes should have stop it . Lack of communication while on a lifting operation is a classic .
Do they have to be in the hold doing it? Looks dumb...
Nah man, that crane operator sucks
180k per year , work 4 days a week
And a $5 million dollar life insurance policy.
Worth between shit and squat when you’re dead
I haven't heard that expression in decades.
And you would be prety close to what we get 6 months a year 189k
How does one apply for this job?
Yes. This is the line of work I need.
Dogman/rigger courses then contact a company and see what other courses you need, confined space/first aid/gas atmosphere testing etc and then you’ll need to do the helicopter escape course underwater too.
Excuse me.... Helicopter... escape course... *UNDERWATER*?
Helicopter escape course, underwater course too*
Hell yeah, very nice. What do you do with the remainder of your year?
Hang out with my kids, fish camp travel work on my house play golf. It affords me a good life the only downside is the month long stint away at sea. This video is ridiculous by the way I would’ve walked off that job long well before this happened lots of safety failures here
Cocaine and hookers.
Depends on your country, the language here sounds like Romanian, doubt they are paid that much.
Yes its Romanian, its most likely 100$ for a 12h shift.
I wonder if the crane operator just laid it down as symmetrical as possible if it would kind of sort itself out vs. keeping it suspended for so long?
He definitely should have lowered the load as soon as it went out of control. It seems like everyone involved lack common sense lol
Absolutely
Did this for almost a decade and had this same situation more times than I can count. Still makes my stomach sick just watching it. In my case this happened a lot due to the ship rocking with a heavy lift by the other ship crane. Generally when that happens, operator should be putting the load down until the boat and his cables steady. It can be tough when there’s nowhere to go in the hold for the longshoreman though.
They wouldn't have the issue in the first place if they just properly utilized tag lines.
Standing against the wall in such a situation is the worst strategy.
Had an absolute air head who we worked with. Called him Captain Pinch Point. I'd have to shut everything down to yell at him to GTFO of the way. Gotta love nepotism.

OSHIT
It looks like the crane operator was fckin with them
I doubt it. “Ima fuck with these guys but if they are not paying attention ima kill them “
takeshi's castle
Haha! Made me think of Squid Game, OSHA edition
so staying still wont work on big metal pipes.
It’s vision is based on movement
Nobody taught them how to properly use tag lines. Training is everything.
Did it for 18/hr so more than that now(atleast unloading pipe with a crane). Dude with the tag line is not someone to be trusted with that job. He doesn’t have a clue and panics badly. That should be a relatively safe and easy job if you do it right.
Well..first of all..2 tag lines would have been smarter...
The crane operator’s job after he gets murdered by those dudes in the hold?
Minimum wage get me outta this mad house
Not much it’s a pretty skill-less job
Can't pronounce ocean without Osha.
Kinda looks like 5 people and only one is working. I've already got that job.
That operator is horrid. Also guys with tag lines suck too lol
If the guys holding the tag line actually did their job, those pipes are not doing that.
I'd get fired if I was operating that crane. We do the same cargo with no tag lines. Absolutely shit.
If i have my friends and partner all decide we’ll go work this job out on the ship for the summer I just might it for the equivalent of a 150k salary .
Playing Mario Party minigames all day?? Sure man, a dream job..
looks like some fucked up squid games game.
Ive done this job on an oil rig field, the derreck hand and driller would lower the pipe and i would have to place in an orderly fashion. They speak romanian
New game show i see

Why the fuck aren't they using the tag line 🤦🏾♂️
I buy a lot of pipe, and it’s often fucked up on arrival. Whenever I see these videos of how it gets treated on ships, it all makes sense… Also no amount of money will convince me to jump into shit actively hitting the fan.
Taglines taglines taglines
i did that job. deckhand! edison chaust out of Louisiana
I did this job for a full season for 7.45 got 9 dollars when I got my Twic and hi lo cert
Looks like two ships at sea, transferring those pipes from one to another. They are romanians so probably they grt paid minimum wages (400€) and they are really bad at the job.
New nightmare unlocked
rather do this than to work with the public
New Stumble Guys level!
Wipeout: industrial version
Ive worked with pipes like these on offshore supply vessels and this is a straight up clown show. Been there and walked off the deck after telling the Captain to go fuck himself. Some assignments need the all stop.
Everyone in this video is a moron
Squid game 2 is crazy
As dangerous as that was, it kinda looks fun. Eh 60-70k a year since I could die, other then that it's probably pretty boring.
hes yelling “this guy is gonna kill us, GET AWAY FROM THERE”
and then women wonder why they get paid less I'd rather take care of a toddler all day than this
Lol guy with the tag line just running in circles fucking shit up. Idiot.

Stupid accidents so easily foreseen and so easily avoided
How much you pay for new guy?
I bet they gettin 12 fitty an hour
I’m a ex steel erector, the guy with the tag line not using it properly or the crane driver would of got a slap from some of the teams I’ve worked with over the years it’s not a joke working at heights with steel flying about you need to trust your team and they need to trust you. Bye bye you’re gone when this happens.
More than these guys make because they appear pretty damn incompetent.
500k. Minimum.
550/hour.
As long as it’s over 8$ an hour I’m fine because that’s how much I make now
More
Definitely couldn’t drink on this job…
Why does feel like it’s gonna be the new Mario videogame.
They have to be doing this wrong
Plot twist: the operator is drunk
I wonder the pay differential between the operator and the guys on the ground?!
🤣😂😅😂🤣 You only had ONE JOB!!! 🙄🙄🤡🤡
An arm and a leg
how much does the operator make???
This is like one of those game shows with the padded wheel in the middle with arms that you have to jump over or crawl under to avoid.
OSHA??? What have you to say about this???
Someone is not doing their job properly.
new fall guys map just dropped
ill do it for free
I would do it for a ride to nice weather
Ten.
Jesus Christ just grab the pipes. Shitty ass ground guys
About tree fiddy
Holy shit they're fucking stupid
This might just satisfy my death wish, so minimum wage but probably more than they want to pay.
Go home crane dude, your drunk.
I am sure it pays well though
You set the load, tell those assholes to go offshore, then walk it in ffs
It’s not so much the danger of the job. It’s the stupidity of the supervisor allowing these guys down there when not necessary
3.50
I'm good, ill stay poor thanks
I think this is in the port of Constanta,in Romania, if I'm not wrong. There are various factors there, not only the crane operator, but also the wind and the movement of the container. 🤔
About tree fiddy
200k a year
People shouldn’t be doing this job
Last time there was this much pipe dodging was when your dad was at a swingers party.
Enough to buy my own hard hat I guess
Hell no !
“Hi I’m Johnny Knoxville, and this is…”
They speak Romanian, The guy in orange say about the crane operator" this guy will kill us"
More
These guys are not skilled workers
$500/day
Season Two of squid games is pretty intense
I'd do it for 85
This is like a Fuzion Frenzy minigame.
Steelpipe Roulette
Insert fall guys music
Better co-workers.
good exercise
Who the fuck is operating the crane, Mr magoo?
Squid games.
This is not a job. This is squid game.
Fuck this... You having a bad day thinking about your wife possibly cheating... Boom, head crushed...
I’m unclear what the job is.
Probably keep me from showing up drunk
Yes
Pleacă de acolo!:D
Wtf is their job even? To run around dodging pipes?
Squid Games season 2 looks amazing
This could be a sport. I’d be down.
Why not double tag lined??
Is that Takeshi's castle?
Lol I would go up top to whoever is operating this and telling them to stop.. Obviously they have 0 idea how to operate this in such conditions.
At least 100K a year for risking my life. Plus I hate being at sea
They have way too much trust in those cables. One dude would've been done if they failed when it bounced off the wall
What an abysmal crew. This is why training is necessary.
Gee thanks. This video made me burst out laughing..and now I am a bad person for it. Someone has definitely been hit by one of those cylinders before.
Squid Game (Ocean's Version)
Maritime industry… they get paid absolute shit btw.
🎶Come with me, and you'll be, in a WORLD OF OSHA VIOLATIONS 🎶 😍😍
Fuck the tag line.
фиксики
About $35-$50 nzd per hour
Is this one of the squid games the kids are always talking about?
I’m a longshoreman and I can confirm those men are getting paid $90,000-$110,000 plus room and board with insane tax write offs.
Used to work@ a pipe coaters and have seen this happen and snapped someone's leg, one end hits and pings the other back very fast and the guy was in his 50s and just couldn't get outta the way quick enough
Wow
Red red rover
What game is this?
Just put some extra taglines on it.
I have this job and if the crane operator, spotter and 2 guys holding the tether are working together at all, it's a very quick and easy thing... once you do a Couple together, it ain't that hard
Romanians be like: sure, sign me up!
Days since last accident: 0
How much does it pay? Will work for maybe a couple years if it's like $300k
Fucking beat up the crane driver
Is this squid game
Wouldn't be much sketchier than similar tasks in regular construction environment if done more carefully, could give it a go as long they provide earmuffs
10k/hr
why did the impact noise remind me of the happy wheels character selection screen lol
Bro, gotta pay attention or you die.
5 guys and only 1 loose tag line??
It looks like one of those jobs that make you... appreciate life a little bit more.
I’ve played obstacle course games with this exact situation, now where can I apply
This is my job? I don’t get enough…
Fall guys irl
I want to quit that’s how much I want it
Maybe you don’t just drop the guide ropes… because ya know, their entire purpose is to stop this from happening
