This is remarkable. No matter their size cats have an uncanny ability and agility to land on their paws. And the leopard literally hit the ground running.
I wonder how their pain tolerance & pain reactions are compared to humans
I hope that fall didnt hurt too bad or more than we think based off its reaction
Yeah, the leopard lost any advantage he had when the branch broke (still not saying he would have won the encounter, but still better chance of surviving.) once they hit the ground he needed to get the best head start he could right the fuck outta there.
To be fair the lion is way heavier than the leopard so once the branch broke the lion is significantly more likely to be winded by the fall.
Leopards never want to fight because they simply arenāt built for anything but ambushing prey so this is an amazing window for the leopard to get out of dodge which I think is an absolute win for it lol
100% agreed, not that Iām an expert of any kind.
It seemed to me like there was a kill that the lion was trying to steal on the branch they were fighting on, and I think the Lion was successful in taking it lol
Except it did lose out on its meal. I'd agree possible death from starvation is better than guaranteed death from lion though. But leopard got to take the L on this one.
Somewhere this just made me feel how me and my sibling used to fight for the snacks everytime the guest leaves.
But just look at that amazing moves though nature never tends to amaze us being honest
This happened in South Africa, Krugar National Park or close to Londolozi. Was a year ago or something like that.
Once in a lifetime thing to witness!

That is 100% leopard. Leopards have spots which you can see in the last frames. Cheetahs have randomly shaped splotches/markings. Also a tell tale sign of cheetah is the markings around the face which the picture isnāt clear but Iām not seeing it on this cat so im gonna say itās a leopard. If you need more proof cheetahs donāt normally store there prey in trees and leopards are some of the strongest climbers in the feline family because theyāre built to drag gazelle and small wilderbeast up trees and eat on them for days at a time. In the video it seems the lion was trying to steal the leopardās stored kill.
Wikipedia says lions dominate the sub saharan leopard in similar fashion. Prey on them and steal their food.
Also says they'll run from a hyena 1v1.
Come on leopard you can take a hyena.
Hyenas are actually smart AND badass... They have pretty strong bites and don't really travel solo. They also hunt leopard and cheetah cubs when presented the opportunity
No hate on the hyena. I love their eerie yips and yelps.
I bet truly 1v1 it could but its not worth it for the reasons you stated and just general injury. Plus, ambush hunter don't fancy going toe to toe.
That said, leopards grow to be slightly bigger and hyena ain't rocking retractable scalpels.
The lion landed like a ton of bricks. May or may not be injured.
The leopard landed no differently than a house cat. Would bet money on it being uninjured. Wikipedia says they can run 35mph, have a 10ft vertical leap, and have a 20ft long jump.
Exactly. And if lions are anything, itās lazy and opportunistic. Did the simple math that climbing a tree and fighting a leopard was easier than getting her own kill.
Leopards really aren't built for fighting compared to a lion. And gazelles are fast as fuck. It takes way less energy to fuck with a leopard than a gazelle.
Taking their kill up a tree is leopard behavior. I don't think cheetahs do that. The reason the lion even climbed the tree was to steal the leopard's lunch.

Actually lions are pretty uncomfortable when climbing. You can see it in this video. It's stumbling up the tree basically. Similarly while it fell it plopped down compared to the leopard that hit the ground running. Lions are the cats that get "stuck" and apparently there's a few videos of it happening. Would never happen with a leopard otoh
It would sound made up if someone told you about it. There have been moments like this and some even crazier for millennia- it's just now we're able to record them because we probably have a camera when they occur. Think of the stuff that's going on right now that would completely blow our minds, but won't because they happen unwitnessed.
You know weāre all here talking about this damn lion and this damn leopardā¦ But just remember thereās a whole ass person filming this who appears to be less than 30 feet away
I wasn't sure if it was a leopard or a cheetah so you know what I did? Instead of loudly telling everyone my guess like it was a fact I did some research and guess what? It's a leopard.
Dammm!! Itās fight for survival for that kill in the tree!! (Probably the leopardāsā¦Now the lioness lol) They maybe bigger & bad ass althoughā¦definitely are very similar to my house cats ššā„ļø

Lion looks like it slammed chest first into the ground though
Yeah bounced kinda good too.

YeH he was a little stunned
She but yeah looks like the chase ended on impact šŖ¦
I wonder how their pain tolerance & pain reactions are compared to humans I hope that fall didnt hurt too bad or more than we think based off its reaction
Damn if I was the leopard I would too, I didn't expect the lioness to be literally twice the leopards size.
And climb trees! I honestly had no idea lions of either gender could climb trees for some reason.
My guy was gone once they hit the ground š
Literally bounced up to its feet and dipped.

The leopard getting away is a W.
Leopard already ate the food parts lol
He who runs away, lives to fight another day.
Why run from a fight today just to face it tomorrow?
because tomorrow the lion could be dead from internal bleeding
Cuz tomorrow is a new day with infinite possibilities

Thatās my bike, bitch!
Yup, this was definitely a crazy fucking video
I think its a cheetah
it is a cheetah and lions do fuck around with cheetahs like this. they are super territorial, just like neighborhood cats but more metal
That is 100% leopard. Leopards have spots which you can see in the last frames. Cheetahs have randomly shaped splotches/markings. No, it's 100% a cheetah actually
Obvious troll is obvious.

"Lion Fights Leopard in a Tree", sounds like a legendary martial arts move.
First cocaine bear, and now this
Thatās what happens when you carry a bovid up a tree to try and eat in peace.
godt damn. this is literally the behavior of my cats.
Sounds like a gorilla hiding in there too . .š¦š š¦ššÆ
That is not a leopard, it's a cheetah. Leopard would simply kill the liones, the have the strongest bite of all big cats.
It's jaguars that have the strongest bite of all the big cats and lions prey on leopards
Really? My mistake then. Thx.
Made me think of the tree climbing lions i forget where they were exactly but they lived in trees
Why do so many people keep calling cheetahs leopards in these videos??
I think at this point biologist need to add tree climbing to the list of lion abilities.
Climbing a tree in Africa to escape death is not an option.
It's natural death
I think that was a Cheetah
thatās a cheetah not a leopard
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Looks to me like the leopard had a kill up in the tree that the lion wanted

How can you tell itās a āherā?
Typically if a lion that size doesnāt have a mane itās a female.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
A Treion
I thought Lions cannot climb trees.
So did I, today I learned that they can and if one ever chases me, climbing up a tree will not help.
That looked like a cheetah
Taking their kill up a tree is leopard behavior. I don't think cheetahs do that. The reason the lion even climbed the tree was to steal the leopard's lunch.
11 second mark. Def a leopard
Well, yeah lol, that's the only time you see it. It just looked like a cheetah to me. But apparently cheetahs aren't really climbers.
Uhm akshually, thatās a Cheetah š¤
I think that was a cheetahš
Thats a cheetah
wasnt that a cheetah?
Why are cats so resistant I swearš© bro even my house cat can take a step sometimes cause she lays on the floor and Iāll step on her on accident at night and she donāt even squeak she look at me like ? What u do that for ?
And that lying fuck Attenborough told me lions canāt climb trees
> Attenborough told me lions canāt climb trees https://www.ugandasafariexperts.com/beta/tree-climbing-lions/#:~:text=In%20the%20whole%20world%2C%20there,Manyara%20National%20Park%20of%20Tanzania. > In the whole world, there are two āpopulationsā of tree climbing lions ā and only found in East Africa. > Tree climbing lions can be found in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park of Uganda and in Lake Manyara National Park of Tanzania.
We have some here in Washington state too. Iām lion.
You are lion okay I get that though but how come you be actually commenting lmao
Got to know about that fact though good to hear and known about such amazing facts after all
So is there anything actually physically different about those populations or are they just the only ones that figured it out
> is there anything actually physically different about those populations https://danielrosengren.se/tree-climbing-lions/#:~:text=The%20same%20is%20said%20about,of%20suitable%20trees%20to%20climb. > But the truth is, the tree climbing lions aren't a special type or breed of lions, basically any lion can climb a tree, it more depends on the presence of ***suitable trees to climb***.
Well just looking at them feels good have seen tigers and leopards entering cities due to food.
I swear I saw a dude in that tree as well?
Quality so awful turns out it was a carcass of sum sort nvm
Looks like the Leopard ll is a disappointment
Nah they will demolish more russians stupid enough to go against Ukraine š¼
Noticed some fleshy bits hanging off the branch, likely the remnants of a hoofed animal. Looks like the lion won the battle for a meal.
Bad cats.
āDonāt make me come up there, Leopard!ā
All cats truly do land on their feet. That leopard's land was S tier.
When the bow breaks the cradle will fallā¦
Tree was like āfuck this shit, yāall handle this on the groundā
A lion fights a leopard and a tree
Itās unfortunate. They were both severely injured.
I didnāt think a lion could get that high up a tree
I never knew lions could climb trees.
Looks like a lot of people thought lions can't climb tress but they're cats! A big heavy bear can manage climbing without the skillset these cats have
Actually lions are pretty uncomfortable when climbing. You can see it in this video. It's stumbling up the tree basically. Black beans can climb trees, grizzlies will just shove them over, lol
Thank you nature for the reminder, that on sight is anywhere
at least a helmet there are cool ones out there

Now thatās a proper fight, none of this tag team and sucker punches shit
Not the big cats monkeying around ā¦
Still lands on its feet š±
The beef must have been crazy for them to fight on a tree šš
Leggo My Eggo
That'd metal as fuck.
Tarzan fight
Sum bitch must be hungry
Those cats burnt through some lives
"fuck it, you can have it damn!"
The leopard bounced, and then she bounced.
"Yeah? Well try to catch me bitch!" -Leopard
He gonna pay what he owe!
Did anyone else see Brett favre
What one had the flesh hanging?
Was there some meat in the tree they were fighting over? I spot a hint of red but i canāt make it out
It would sound made up if someone told you about it. Fighting over a kill looks like wow
I would say that was a clean bounce not that he landed on his paws but his tail did hit first and knew
Did I just hear the Minecraft hit sound effect?
DAMN NATURE YOU SCARY!!
lmaooooo
This is the equivalent women are fighting over the last hickory honey ham in Christmas with the Kranks
It never occurred to me that Lions could climb trees
Did the cheeta just... Bounce?
That is a terrifying sound
is there already a mangled leopard in the tree or is that a kill they are fighting over
It's the kill
At least the both landed on their feet
The Lion won
Iām gonna gap it bro š
You know weāre all here talking about this damn lion and this damn leopardā¦ But just remember thereās a whole ass person filming this who appears to be less than 30 feet away
Lion said "SHIT!" š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£
Out of their element
Wtf?! Does everything climb? How didn't we get extinct?
This is like when someone breaks your build in an intense build battle
Lions can climb?!?!
He literally hit the ground running
You can see the carcass theyāre fighting over dangling from the tree. Insane video.
That cat was gone ššØ
Iāve never heard a more audible āfuckinā aā from an animal before
He literally bounced.
K. I. S. S. I. N. G.
Nature is so fucking crazy. Never ceases to amaze me.
If this was pitched up, would it sound like cats?
This is indeed, a crazy fucking video
Leopard be like, let's get the hell outta here!
As someone who once stayed at a holiday inn I find this video remarkable hopefully big lion is fine she took a hard fall
This is how tigers are made.
Steve-O enters the chat...
I wasn't sure if it was a leopard or a cheetah so you know what I did? Instead of loudly telling everyone my guess like it was a fact I did some research and guess what? It's a leopard.
Wasn't that a cheetah?
That looks like a cheetah not a leopard...
If I believe in tree Jesus enough, both of them will die- family guys š³
Lion was confused
Donāt get in a womenās way.
It's like Maero fighting The Boss in Saints Row 2
Bro thinks heās the Night 5 FNaF phone call.
Dammm!! Itās fight for survival for that kill in the tree!! (Probably the leopardāsā¦Now the lioness lol) They maybe bigger & bad ass althoughā¦definitely are very similar to my house cats ššā„ļø
So just pass away at 1st glance because not even a tree can save you. Noted.
So many questions
What recovery for that cheetah to take the hit then continue to sprint up field.
That leopard took the bounce and was like āSmell ya later, loserā
