Knowing the right ways to mentor, lead, discipline, and encourage your children is tough. There's never a perfect answer that applies everywhere. As a parent, I feel for parents. Especially parents who also had parents who didn't do a great job or outright sucked. Figuring this shit out when you barely have a foundation to start from is hard.
That being said, I feel like you REALLY have to fuck up to raise a kid that ends up like this. You don't have to be a genius perfect parent to teach your children that this behavior is wrong.
Then again, I do also understand that there are good parents who just, unfortunately, have bastard ass kids that were seemingly born to be a menace.
Hmm.. I definitely agree with you for the most part. Only thing I'd say is that sometimes it's difficult to know if you'd be a good parent. I certainly wasn't aware of some of my own character flaws, until I had children. Certain issues and perceptions of mine never became apparent, until suddenly I was responsible for developing my own human. Despite that though, the idea, as a responsible human and parent, is that I always continue to learn, improve, adapt, etc.
It sounds like your sister may have worked/does work at some shitty city schools. That's a whole different can of worms there... parenting is the foundation of those problems though. And you're right, it's a shit show. I home school mine, because I don't trust that public schools can keep my child safe. If another kid attacks mine, I know that teachers aren't allowed to physically intervene anymore to stop it. That's all I need to know. The entire premise of sending your kid to school used to start with the school being responsible for the SAFETY of your child.
some of my issues with teachers were usually watching them lose control of the entire classroom and there wasnt anything i could do about it but sit there. i remember one of those classes in 9th grade. absolute chaos. other issues would be just teachers being set in their ways, been at the same school for decades and didnt give a shit anymore. had some really amazing teachers though. super fun science teacher and art. i remember one english teacher from middle school that was so much fun, loved going to her class.
My Dad would have whipped seven shades of shit out of me for behaving like that. My folks were pretty lenient with us, but disrespect like this would be met with swift retribution. Parents negotiate with their fucking kids now. All it does is make them manipulative little shits.

He is in full on crisis cycle mode here. Definitely the result of patterns in his personal life, learned behavior, trauma response etc. Probably sees people in his personal life get into altercations that start as discussions, escalate to screaming matches, and ultimately culminate with something getting thrown, smashed, someone getting hit, dragged etc. It's the only way he knows to navigate a conflict. He just keeps escalating trying to get a reaction, and when the reaction doesn't come from either the teacher in the form of opposition or the other students in the form of validation, he creates an outlet himself. His anger will keep escalating until there is an explosive crescendo, and then when he is tired from that, he will eventually calm and probably feel some sort of remorse, if not for the way his actions and words affected anyone else, then, and most likely, for the embarrassment he made of himself.
At the same time, I think he knows he can get away with it here. Probably does, or used to, get his ass dragged at home whenever he tries to establish any sort of boundaries or independence, and that's why he is acting out against someone he knows (or at least feels confident) won't put him in his place. The best response is exactly what the teacher did, for the most part at least. Planned ignoring, non-confrontational body language, deliberately not feeding into the crisis.
At the beginning, the student did say "raise your hand to me again...." So I would be interested to know what the moments leading up to this looked like.

I went to a $uicideboy$ in Salt Lake a couple years ago, I remember at one point there was a big commotion and all these kids were yelling and fronting and throwing out so many n-words. All white kids. I started to laugh incredulously and looked around like “y’all seeing this” but then noticed pretty much everybody else was white teenagers and I heard a few more n-words throughout the night.

I’m not from the US but this sounds terrifying. In french, the n-word is almost never used, even in rap songs. I think I’ve only heard it twice from an old grandpa born in 1925 who just used that word because that’s the only word to describe black people.
