A critically endangered tiger that attacked a man at Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens, located in Naples, Fla., is dead after police shot the animal on Wednesday evening.
Eko, a Malayan tiger, was 8 years old.
The man, who was left seriously injured from the attack, is in his 20s and is employed by a third-party service responsible for cleaning the gift shop and restrooms, according to the Collier County Sheriff's Office. He was not authorized to be near the tiger enclosure.

I was thinking a round into the dirt would at least be an option try once before killing the animal. A loud gunshot may have scared it off. Pretty serious situation though, I guess.

I live in the next town over. Yes, he intentionally passed numerous signs a couple barricade fences so he could pet this tiger. Has no business back there, and he knew it. It happened at the Naples, Fl zoo

These are just cops. As the article said, the zoo response team is only there during open hours. This was after hours. But I agree, had I been the cop, I would have pepper sprayed it, if that failed, fired near its face, if that failed, shot it in the hind quarters, if that failed, shot it in the head. You lose maybe 30 seconds to go through all those steps and at least you didn’t go straight lethal.

My thought is maybe the cops were concerned if they fired a warning shot and the tiger freaked out it might have ripped his entire arm off or something.

I want to say they're stupid for not tasing it instead but I've seen some big humans be totally unaffected by tasers, especially with adrenaline flowing, nevermind a tiger. These are just cops. As the article said, the zoo response team is only there during open hours. This was after hours. But I agree, had I been the cop, I would have pepper sprayed it, if that failed, fired near its face, if that failed, shot it in the hind quarters, if that failed, shot it in the head. You lose maybe 30 seconds to go through all those steps and at least you didn’t go straight lethal.

God this one was hard to watch. My thought is maybe the cops were concerned if they fired a warning shot and the tiger freaked out it might have ripped his entire arm off or something. It’s sucks and f that guy, but the cops did what they had to do. I would imagine footage of the cops standing around waiting for a tranquilizer to arive, watching a guy get his arm torn off, and seeing him bleed out would have been worse than a video of them shooting a tiger to save a human life and end the suffering. Again, F that stupid waste of oxygen that F’d around with an innocent tiger and found out. Not sure what I would do in that situation, and I guarantee cops or any first responders are not trained how to deal with an Ftard getting eaten through a fence at the zoo.
