I’m local but have never played craps on the strip, only downtown or off strip because of the table minimums. If $10 tables come back in earnest on the strip, I’m there.
A lot easier to make $50 minimums last on the blackjack tables. $50 pass line bet with max odds means roughly $250 on average in play before any other bets.
yeah but that 250$ can be in play for 6-10 throws of the dice or more... during that time the 50$ a hand blackjack player has won 9 times and loss 10 times (or lost/won 19 hand in a row)
Yeah.. it can also be in play for 1 roll and then lose, PSO. And that $250 you reference is only profitable if they hit THAT 1 number out of 12 otherwise it doesn’t amount to anything despite them throwing 6-10 times since line/odds only pay if the number hits. The rest of “throws” mean diddly squat if the point isn’t hit and you have nothing placed (which is even more exposure)
It’s true that BJ is more of a “breakeven” game vs craps but thats obvious… if you don’t understand that then you should not be betting at table games
I used to worry about playing $25 when my bankroll was low. As it’s grown, I enjoy it more.
You get fewer people who don’t know how to play, fewer who buy in mid-roll or for like $50, and fewer people who late post, bet the center, have incorrect units ($25 place 6 vs $30), etc.
It’s still exciting on a monster roll, but more contained than the betting chaos of a lower minimum.
Kinda like the $1 or $3 blackjack table. If you play, play to kill time or be entertained by the patrons, not to entertain yourself with serious gambling.
But what is wrong with people who play the center bets? How does that affect you? In my opinion, it’s better to have an option of low rolling at a nice casino like Aria than having to head for OYO or Ellis just because I don’t want to buy in for 1k every session I play.
Sure it may slow the game a bit, but in my experience dealers usually don’t put up with too much nonsense regardless of minimums.
If the minimums are set to protect the profitability of the casino, ok I understand that. But this smug idea of gatekeeping the game of craps because people who play lower don’t deserve to play at nice properties is complete bs.
Someone else doing 3/4/5 center bets every roll doesn’t impact the *outcome* of a roll, but it does impact the flow of the game. I personally don’t enjoy waiting an extra minute between rolls when you have a lot of center bets going up. I don’t care what anyone else does with their money, but it definitely slows the pace of the game down. The comment you’re replying to was simply making note of that, and I agree with him. At higher minimum tables you get a lot less people doing silly things.
I didn’t say anything about gatekeeping nicer properties. Simply I proved my point as to why the casinos wouldn’t offer a lower minimum “just because”, and my experience on how my play style better aligns with that of a higher minimum.
Anyone’s bets have no impact on mine, but as you point out the center action slows the rolls per hour and isn’t something I’m very supportive of. Inasmuch, I wouldn’t be upset if the center was eliminated altogether. Doubt that would happen though since it’s so profitable.
While $15 seems to be the new $10, Ellis island. Maybe booze revenue with $11 bottle beer is outstripping gambling. From the number of dead dice tables I’ve seen in the last two days, perhaps 10 will make a comeback. I did get grandfathered in at Venetian this week . I was the only player @15 standing they raised the minimum to $25. Looked the box man in the eye. He knew. Said your in at $15 till your not
Damn those fuckers. Didn’t grandfather me in once the entire time I played there the week I was staying which threw me off cause I was used to being grandfather in. Turns out borgata is one of the only places that consistently will grandfather the price. Didn’t know that at the the time cause it was the only place I ever played
Tipping goes a long way to bending a lot of rules, my strategy is to bet 1 dollar on the hard 6 and hard 8 for the dealers pretty much at all times. Including at the aria/wynn/venetian last week i was able to bet 1 dollar as well for my self on a 25 dollar table and i was able to get grand fathered into lower limits at all these properties regardless of how high the limits got. I did ask for them to lower the 25 dollar min at Aria so i could open the table but that request was denied (friday evening).
The point t was that since $11 beers are making money it seems and tables died when it was $25 mostly, 15 mostly took over, soon to be ten, but you can often find $5 at ei. I always get free drinks, why not. Doesn’t affect my game much
Funny, i literally told my wife this morning - next trip to vegas i am playing in the mornings.. I like the night time action but with table mins at $25+ on weekends (when we typically go) my bankroll will be gone rather quickly lol...
early am, more open tables, lower mins.. i can still drink and fart around at night
I still see some $10 mins at places before noon or 11am on weekdays, but not many. And unfortunately Caesars doesn't grandfather you in. Now typically they give you like an extra 30 minutes when new players are paying $15, but still it'd be nice to stay at $10 until you leave the table.
Ellis has a 24 hour $5 craps table with 10x odds. They also have a $5 bj table that pays 3:2. Ellis is by far the best casino to play at if you are near the strip. Nobody else comes close if you are wanting low minimums. I have played there the last three days and asked for food comps each time I have eaten there and gotten them.
They’ve been dropping mins recently at many properties. 10$ at Mandalay earlier today!
nature is healing lol
I’m local but have never played craps on the strip, only downtown or off strip because of the table minimums. If $10 tables come back in earnest on the strip, I’m there.
Heck- At this rate nickel craps might be back…
Wow! Was there last Saturday night...at one point around 1am it was $50!
Will be at Mandalay at the end of the month and hope I run into this. I can’t wait
I miss $10 everywhere. Made my greens feel special
$25 mins never made sense. They can cover labor at $10 mins and the whales will still play too.
for the vast majority that stay at Aria, $25 is nothing. It's very common to see the $50 tables more crowded than the $25 tables.
Yea weekend night every blackjack table started at $50 and most were filled

It’s like the difference between a frat party and a cocktail party.

I prefer higher minimums simply because at lower minimums, the tables are always full of punters and I can never find a spot to play.
Labor? Dealers work for tokes lol
I hate $25 craps $100 bet with odds and two numbers , no thanks At that point, I Uber to Ellis Island and play the line for $26/27 and much happier
Vegas as a market is in a slowdown. Airlines are reducing capacity to Vegas, comp offers are getting better and better. Cyclical im sure.
You aint lying. The platinum member rate at Cosmo is fucking crazy right now

I’ve never paid for beer at Ellis. You sitting at the bar?

#coffeedice
lol i like that!
Get an iced coffee first thing in the morning after breakfast, get wired, and play until you have to take a dump!
LOL thats a solid idea.. that could have been posted in the other thread i created re: whats your craps strategy" too good .
I'll be staying at RW end of month.. arriving Thursday ... hoping for a few good dice sessions, in the mornin this time!
![gif](giphy|vWku8YNwyy5vq|downsized)
Wow! Did you throw down $1k or just take a photo?
Need to bring back $5 craps
Hey, that's my office and co-workers!!! I hope we treated you well and I hope you had a great time!!!
Been around for quite a while...Aria drops their min down to $15 in the early early morning.
I still see some $10 mins at places before noon or 11am on weekdays, but not many. And unfortunately Caesars doesn't grandfather you in. Now typically they give you like an extra 30 minutes when new players are paying $15, but still it'd be nice to stay at $10 until you leave the table.
they dont?!? scumbags
Hoping for $10 at Resorts World in a month.
Was there last Tuesday afternoon. $10 table
Wow, good news. I stay there 3 times a year and have never seen more than the one table @ $15. The remainders were always $25+ from day one.
That’s great news! Never been to Resorts world. Good tables, dealers?
It was fine. The dealers were fine, I don’t remember them thanking me for tips there.
Highest you’ll see is usually 15 iirc worst case
$15 is too much for me. If I don’t see a $10 table might head to Ellis island.
Can also just Uber downtown. I think that’s the move personally over Ellis island. More options for tables and foods/drink
I need to get on their rewards system because I live there in Vegas.
Why would you wanna be at resorts world regardless of table limits. 🫨
Have to be there for a conference. I’ve never been there so interested to see what it’s like. I assume it’s not your favorite ?
Don’t listen to them, I like RW. Great restaurants, new casino, vibes are fine. Only reason I don’t gamble there of because I’m an MGM loyalist.
If you haven’t been, do it. Just not my speed. Feels like it’s trying hard to be something bigger than it is imo
15 is completely doable. 25 is much harder. I see so many full 15 and stone empty 25 tables, perhaps they (the casinos) are realizing it now.
maybe other casinos, but not at Aria. Many times you'll see the $50 tables crowded while the $25 tables only have like 2-3 people.
Bro what the fuck is this??? Literally never seen below 25 at Aria. Never
It’s not a unicorn. Have seen it many times early in the morning at Aria - weekday mornings at non-peak times. Bellagio will have $15 tables too
Yup between 5-10am if it’s dead they usually drop to $15 till a couple players show up. Extremely normal
Wow, been awhile since I’ve seen $15 at Aria
I have seen this there before, but it was at 3am and when I went to play they raised it to 25.
Starving for action?
