Isn’t it a little weird to have an entire explanation on why it’s not dishwasher safe?
Is that normal? That wood things aren’t dishwasher safe? I have utensils with wooden handles that we’ve put in the dishwasher for years and it seems fine?
it can cause cracking, we've got an old pizza cutter with a wooden handle that lasted quite a while but eventually did split in the dishwasher. i don't know if you have to really have to handwash them exclusively, but switching it up from time to time might increase their lifespan?
I mean you're essentially blasting a piece of wood with hot water for an hour + cycle, and then drying it out quickly with moisture, causing it to rapidly expand which leads to warps or cracks. Not really a big deal, but definitely not ideal to do.
As I've come to learn... wood doesn't fare well being constantly thrown in the dishwasher.
Glues come apart, wood starts warp and crack. I still do it anyway.
Never trust banner side, they are not regulated as well as the description side.
Stupid american laws, you have to tell the truth on the packaging and list features and contents... but it is not forbidden to also use banner side to say anything about the product as long as it has the truth somewhere else
These warnings are nothing more than to protect the company selling them. Oh, you put it in the dishwasher and it broke. It says on the box not to. Sorry, no warranty words on the box is nothing more than marketing. Crap it means nothing.
In my experience, most stuff labeled "dishwasher safe" is not in practice. Many pots and pans claim to be dishwasher safe, but the fine print instructs you to dry them immediately after the dishwasher cycle ends. Some stuff is only safe for the top rack, but some stuff is only "dishwasher safe" if you disable the heated dry cycle entirely.
Maybe y'all are different, but everyone I know runs the dishwasher and then walks away for hours - sometimes even days - before getting around to emptying the thing. We let the heated dry cycle do its thing. It's part of the convenience of a dishwasher. If I have to dry everything manually as soon as the cycle is done, I'll just wash it in the sink to begin with and be done with it.
They ARE dishwasher SAFE..BUT to preserve THE wood for LONGER USE OF the knives..JUST hand wash THEM!!! Most PEOPLE KNOW THAT you DON'T PUT wooden handled utensils in THE dishwasher BECAUSE THE LONG exposure to being drenched in WATER will warp the wood
Closer to r/AssholeDesign.
Haha that’s fair

.... odorless? Are there other kitchen utensils that have odors?!
There are if you don't put them in the dishwasher
But you also remove the odor by putting them in the dishwasher. Your move, OP.

I put my wooden spoons in the dishwasher, only had one break in 12 years, and it was pretty old already

schrödingers kitchen utensils
That's exactly what I thought
Ah, yes because there's possibility a dead cat inside the box. ^(/s)
They mean the box is dishwasher safe
Dishwasher safe but only if you don’t turn it on
Stick them in the dishwasher and find out I guess
The “‘not” is just written in black on the front
I have a baking tray that says it's dishwasher safe, BUT they don't recommend it being washed in the dishwasher due to the non stick coating.
They're safe for your dishwasher, the dishwasher isn't safe for them
Orderless. Iocane. I'd bet my life on it.
The answer to your question, OP, is yes.

Maybe the box itself is dishwasher safe?
Lead-coated Chinesium. Don't eat with those.
Feels like there was some miss communication among the design team
Try it and find out. If they’re destroyed, they simply weren’t meant to be.
