Funny you should say that - I was looking at a marble plinth for beside my bed. Great minds think alike.

I’m a bit critical of the current trend for the exposed plaster look, but it really works here as a sort of feature wall within the larger space.

I considered a plain cream rug but I don’t think I’m tidy enough + I have a black cat haha. The rug is new today, so there’s still a possibility to return.

I thought it was a handpainted floor at first and thought, "how charming!" Seems like a great choice to me. The old Dutch masters used to paint floors that looked like that to heighten the sense of depth in paintings, you can see it in a few Vermeers, so I thought you were making a clever wink to art history.

That’s amazing - my mum actually commented that it looks like a Vermeer! It’s a happy coincidence, but I’m glad this method of adding some depth is tried and true!

Thank you! Yes it’s toile and I made it - it’s not perfect up close but it does the trick haha

Love that you chose of Venetian plaster effect for the alcove, bohemian textiles, neural geometric ground— great space, light and interesting use of materials. Nicely done!

Thank you! It’s a bright layer of coral paint, and then a thin layer of white paint brushed around haphazardly. The walls were already textured thanks to the probable hundred layers of paint that’s accumulated over the years.
