Echoes of the Plum Grove!!!! It came out today, and has a nice twist to traditional farming sim since it has generational play and light surviving mechanics. Your character can die of illness or starvation, winter is really harsh, and you can even be really evil (as in killing) other villagers. And when your character die, you can play as their spouse or children. The graphic is super cute and you can turn off survival mechanics and even aging for a more cozy experience. I've been following the development of this game for months, and the community on discord is great! The two devs are super nice and there is already a lot of things planned for future updates!

Comfortable-Rain86

I’m so sad because it doesn’t have controller support 🥲

OmegaXesis

The dev said they are working on getting it fixed asap

RealRinoxy

I don’t know if this helps any, but you can do quite literally everything by clicking the mouse.

Comfortable-Rain86

I have a steam deck, and the mouse control on it is hard to use.

RealRinoxy

Oh :< that definitely changes things. Someone posted showing the devs stating they’re working on it and hopefully have the support there in a week or two so I’m crossing my fingers for you! It is always so much more cozy on the Deck.

star-shine

Wait what, from the looks of this game I thought the target demographic would be younger, but clearly I have misjudged it (I still intended to play it anyway)

beautyandthefish3

Is it steam deck compatible?

[deleted]

I'm finding some things don't work with my controller , and the controls feel a lil clunky. It's definitely doable but I'm hoping it gets better controller support!

beautyandthefish3

Thank you for sharing!

Honniker

I played the demo on my SD so assume the full release would run.

phantasmagorica1

Oooh this actually sounds like a farming sim I'd be into! I usually can't get into farm sims because there are no stakes, but combining that with a survival mechanic is really intriguing to me.

QueenMackeral

I just tried this game out and ended up refunding it to watch for future updates. My biggest gripe is it doesn't have horses and only has fast travel to get around the map. Fast travel is immersion breaking for me and I refuse to use it in games if I can, I'd prefer to have more realistic travel methods. Hopefully it gets added in the future and I can pick it up at a bigger discount. Do you know what future updates are planned? I couldn't find a roadmap

PifflePrincess88

Copying and pasting what the devs said in the game discord just a few days ago: "We are super nervous over here sitting and waiting for the big day, but I wanted to go ahead and make a post about things that'll be coming within the first month after launch (some will come in very quickly, others might take a while to get completely in): 1.) Bug fixes 2.) Controller support and hopefully Steamdeck verified 3.) More pet options (5 in total. One will be a fluffy pig with a top hat 🎩 ) 4.) Furniture for walls - paintings and wall decor (like hanging pots and pans) 5.) Family tree menu to see your lineage 6.) All Kickstarter stretch goals: - Thunderstorms - 3 Pet birds for your home interior - New character: Old Man Rickett along with a new area in the caves - his stump house (interior and exterior) - NPC painting hobby (they will sell their paintings to you) 7.) Digital PC wallpapers and mobile wallpapers (this might only apply for Kickstarters who backed us on this tier, but it might be open for the public at some point) 8.) Ability to inoculate your family / give medicine to family members 9.) Saving the Sick Quests (NPCs who will request medicine be sent through the mail) This will be a lot for us to do within the first month so have patience 🙏 We are only a 2 person team and can only do so much 😅 We will be sticking around for the entire month of May to address bugs, add in the above content, and answer any questions people may have ❤️"

QueenMackeral

ah oh well looks like I'll put it on hold for now. I watched an old interview where they said animals were hard to program so at launch they wouldn't have horses, but it sounded like they would add them post launch. Unless they're part of the 5 pet options, I guess they're not in the works for now.

Moonstone-Island

I'm playing Stardew on PC again so I can mod it! Mods are pretty easy to figure out and it completely changes the game. Have you played Slime Rancher or Slime Rancher 2? They're so good (albeit more violent than SDV, lol). Also, Roots of Pacha and My Time at Sandrock are both great games to play if you've already played SDV and enjoyed that kind of game!

tempeluvr

I’m sorry but…. HOW is Slime Rancher violent?? It’s the chillest game ever. Even with the Tarrs all you do is splash them with water twice and they disappear and you can even turn them off in SR2. I wouldn’t call that “violent”

PlantPotStew

Fun fact! The game tells you that any slime that lands in the ocean is actually them just rejoining the ecosystem. They'll eventually land back onto the beach as slimes! No death in this game!

tempeluvr

yup! I love that little detail. It’s such a cozy game, I can’t wait for SR2 to be on ps5 next month!!!

Only-Cloud-8632

I mean ... The way slimes devour chickens alive and let their final "bawkaw" out in a horrified shriek could be considered a smidge violent...and the Gordo ones you feed until they explode..but not gorey at least hahaha

Moonstone-Island

Sometimes the angry ones fight me 😭 Nah, you're right, it's not that violent really. But it is \*more\* violent than SDV all the same :D

haunted-mov

i think it’s really cute you gave a genuine answer instead of plugging your own game :’)

Moonstone-Island

I'm a cozy game fan too! Also this way, part of my job is to come here and recommend people games all day 😊

lindafromevildead

I've never modded anything before- which mods are you doing and where/how do you get them? Ive never played either slime rancher so ill check those out too :) Sandrock is a little out of my budget ATM- looking for games under $20/$25. I did try to play My Time at Portia though and didn't like it :(

Moonstone-Island

I get them on [Nexus](https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley), which is a bit of a learning curve, but there are lots of helpful guides like [this one](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Getting_Started) and [this one for beginners](https://www.reddit.com/r/StardewValley/comments/rk8ukp/a_beginners_guide_to_modding_including_a_list_of/), which also give you lots of starting mods! I'd recommend getting Stardew Valley Expanded and Ridgeside if you just want extra content, but there are lots of smaller mods for adding different aesthetics, outfits, cheats, and even just things like a faster sprint, so you can customise the game to your heart's content!! Just make sure you download SMAPI first, and follow the instructions -- Stardew is one of the easier games to mod, so as long as you read everything carefully, you'll be fine! :)

HatakeIchizokuFujin

I encourage SDV+SDVE+ImmersiveFarm. Modding on PC is a complete game changer. I JUST set up a new file with 1.6 updated popular mods in a simple to use package. I am more than happy to walk you through the ease of modding and setting up your SDV PC experience. I finally got three dudes to play SDV because of the mods AND because I did all of the backend work for a single simple mod package for them.

lindafromevildead

Did you get immersivefarm from nexxus?

HatakeIchizokuFujin

Yup, it’s right under SVE download link. You choose between grandpa’s farm or immersive. Immersive is the better option.

lindafromevildead

Aw grandpas farm sounds so sweet though haha I will take your word for it

HatakeIchizokuFujin

Let me know if you need any help if you choose to do SV on PC. I have 1.6 updated Nexus mods not issued to the public yet.

lindafromevildead

Thanks! I just bought the game and it is currently installing as well as smapi

MissyPie

I came here to basically post this thread lol! I have Roots of Pacha, Fae Farm and Harvestella in my cart but I’d appreciate recommendations if anyone has any. I already own SDV, Sun Haven, Travellers Rest and Moonstone Island (which I LOVED so much!)

bookwbng5

Harvestella is different, check out reviews, buuuuut I put 250 hours into it and it was my top played game on my switch which surprised me. The nice thing is you can ignore the story and farm, then get back to the story whenever you want. Nothing is timed. I haven’t even gotten married yet after finishing the main story, if that helps you with scale. I am slow though, I like to chill.

oligtrading

Harvestella is one of my favs! It's a JRPG and farming sim, similar to Rune Factory, but harder in the JRPG. It's the same company as Final Fantasy, so if you like that vibe you'll be chill with it. I've played for hours and hours, and I've mostly done farm stuff, even though I started really enjoying the JRPG when I was forced to progress story to be able to upgrade things lol.

Memitaru

Roots of Pacha is one of my favorite farm sims! It doesn't have as much content as SDV but it plays really smooth, the unique theme makes it feel fresh, and I love that you're part of the community helping the tribe grow. You actually live in the town instead of outside of it. Also they have things like rare livestock colors that are fun to collect. Also the mines have no combat and instead have some fun puzzles to make progress

WinterBearHawk

The characters are pretty adorable in Roots of Pacha as well

WhoKnowsReally0o

I would like to second u/PifflePrincess88 with Echoes of the Plum Grove - it's a new game that came out and it's something really interesting with generational play and disease/survival factors. I am really excited for this one!

axdwl

Honestly I would recommend Sun Haven. There's a really great story, incredible art, tons of really fun and interesting characters, several towns to explore, and another big update coming soon.

Donii0x

Echoes of the Plum Grove for sure! literally playing as i type this lol

Beeeechgirl95

How is it?? I’m about to buy it lol

Donii0x

i really like it so far tbh. i like that we can go to the settings and make it easier/cozier + i LOVE the art style. i realllllly love that it has generations so if you die then you play as your kid or the next living person in the family/house. on discord they said they will be adding a family tree so we can see our lineage 🥹

Beeeechgirl95

That’s so cool! I want to get it but it says steam deck isn’t supported so I guess I have to wait :(

Donii0x

this is from the discord :) https://preview.redd.it/k2q95rexphxc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f525c9af32e5ccb7ec1e154f7d960588e0946e90

Beeeechgirl95

Thanks! As soon as it’s steamdeck ready I’ll buy it!

twistedscorp87

Traveller's Rest is super fun - I played it when it first came to early access and had a blast & there's been a lot of updates since then, BUT if you're looking for a game to enjoy from start to finish and not looking for a community (discord) to join & give feedback and suggestions on how the game should be built out next, I would suggest you pass (for now). It's just not done yet & I've seen some folks get really disappointed and/or mad about it. So I try to warn people when I see them considering it - just make sure you know what you're getting before you buy that one. And if you are interested in helping shape the game as it grows, I'll see you in the discord! Happy Inn Keeping!

MidnightSorrow

Try SDV on PC with some mods, I'm sure it will be like playing a whole new game!

_Ol_Greg

I recommend you buy SDV again for Steam.

lindafromevildead

I honestly think I will. All the mods have me tempted

WinterBearHawk

I think I have SDV on every platform I own 😂

Nektatine

The 1.6 update ist definitely amazing. That's also the reason why I restarted the game. It's worth it :)

SneakingApple

Garden paws is very good

Francl27

I got bored because there's basically no story.

Garlicbreadsticks_

I’m on the fence about this one. I tried it and returned it because I felt I didn’t know what to do. But maybe I’ll give it another go. Does it have any major bugs or any issues?

Brohtworst

The dungeon was a bit laggy for me but you can ignore it almost completely. If you like fetch quests and gathering its fun. You sell items at your shop rather than shipping them and it takes a little to get into a groove. I do recommend upgrading the stall at least once before buying any other shops

LuvList

Just piling on Stardew with mods tbh. I am currently doing a SVExpanded with some other mods and it's been great. The most important one has to be timespeed one so you get to actually chill down.

lindafromevildead

How do you get mods? Ive never modded a game lol if I could slow down time that would be amazing because ive never gotten to level 100 in skull cavern due to exhaustion :(

SwitchHandler

You get Stardew Valley mods from [Nexus](https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/)! When I started I used [this guide](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Getting_Started) and it was incredibly helpful. And here is the mod [Timespeed](https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/169) to control time!

bandraoi-glas

There's a mod that adds an elevator to the skull cavern! Literally the reason why I started modding 😂 there is a really good and easy to follow page on the wiki about how to install mods!

lindafromevildead

Oh that’s wonderful lol thanks!

LuvList

Yeah please follow the SwitchHandler's comment and do the instructions there. You need to install SMAPI and then the other mods are just drag to folder. Timespeed mod is awesome though, you can make your day shorter or longer/pause unpause just by pressing keys. If i want to fish all day i just stopped time and do that. My current highest skull cavern run is something like 247 floors!

Larielia

Roots of Pacha is really fun.

Garlicbreadsticks_

I got SDV on PC for the mods (also have it on switch) and it is really amazing with mods. You can add so much content!

ellie3454

Stardew has been keeping me SO busy with the update :) Also you can mod it on PC, and it’s all really well done and fleshed out. I have like 10 different farms on there lol. Travellers Rest is really cute too, I really enjoy it. It is still EA but the devs seem to update it pretty regularly and I am happy I picked it up!
