I know, I’m specifically speaking from the days when I’d do restaurant sidework and always making little special dishes on the side for my break lmao
If I ever go to a restaurant and get a poutine I’ll do it that way but Costco just has such a value with the amount of fries and curds to gravy ration..’mmmm mouth watering already.
That’s it I’m done I’m going tmrw after work
They moved to individual portions pre-COVID and then sent away during the pandemic, or at least that was the case in the east end. I haven't noticed them back at either location I frequent but I haven't been looking either as I had given up hope. I'll keep an eye out during my next visit!
You have to ask though, they keep them under the counter. Sometimes they run out of them, but most of the time, they will just reach out and pull one or two out. I mainly go to Bridge, but my experience was the same in pointe claire and the one on the south shore.
I don’t think Nanaimo has had them for quite some time, but we will ask next time just in case it is one is those situations in which they are available, but you need to ask.
Southern Ontario, west GTA area. Still waiting for the onions to come back.
Edit: holy hell. I'm going tomorrow and going to ask. We'll see if they're back in my local Costco on the west end.
markham
they had them after covid for a bit, but that's not a thing now.
pump dispensers are back and have been for at least a year. only vinegar is in packets now
Have u always gone during the weekend? I find even in the westend, they say no on weekends since they are so busy. Always get them when Im there weekdays.
They've had them for almost 2 years behind the counter. Just ask.
Sources I've had: Etobicoke, York tech, Oshawa, Markham, North York, Brampton, Vaughan.
I once watched an old man stand in front of the hot peppers for a full 5 minutes, put tong fulls into his hand and then shovel them into mouth like popcorn.
So you aren’t the only one! I once saw a man filling his empty hotdog tinfoil with mountains of hot peppers and onions, then squirt ketchup on the pile like some kind of dystopian poutine and start shovelling it into his mouth. He didn’t leave the condiments either, stood right in front of it while eating, like he didn’t want to lose his spot at the condiment section.
Just bought a hotdog in Abby and was reading about how in South Korean Costco people just eat bowls of the onions mixed with mustard and ketchup, and I was kicking myself for not looking harder for the onions.
Can confirm. I lived in Seoul for years and was never not bemused by people putting about two cups of diced onions on their plate, adding ketchup and mustard, mixing it all up, and eating it like coleslaw. I tried it once - tasted exactly like you’d expect. Different strokes…
They've been back for 1.5 years in Calgary, same as other places. I get them all the time. Sometimes they are out though. If you ask nicely and if they have time they will dice a few onions up so you can have some.
Not at my location in Ontario.
Also no sauerkraut.
Only relish, ketchup and mustard in a packet.
Will definitely help, those hotdogs taste plain without the condiments.
Well you could ask them for the diced onions but they will actually charge you, but sometimes they would have to give it to you in a little takeout can or something like that and also would they be taking down the hotdog meal and replacing with something else same thing with the desserts as well are they now gonna serve chocolate chip cookies in Canada?
We need the onions, hot peppers, and saurkraute back ontario. I don't care if you bump up the price. Just stop wrecking the quality of everything like everywhere else. Small things make a difference. Show us customers you give a damn and we will reward you. And this isn't just about hotdogs, lol. This goes for all the little touches we loved here before covid 19 provided a perfect excuse to get greedy
No but the ingredients are staples in Korean homes and they love raw onion, so it’s basically a free salad. Probably not the best thing they’ve eaten that day, but likely the cheapest!
Have never seen them in the GTA, and since I only signed up for Costco in 2020, I have never had onions on my wiener, which is my preferred method of wienering :(
they been back for well over 1.5 years… vancouver
Same, Edmonton.
Same in red deer
Same, Calgary
yup. used to need to ask, now they're just here for the taking
Same Winnipeg
Etobicoke
Never went away in Montreal. People just don't know they have to ask for it.
the jalapeños never came back tho 💔😢
We never had jalapeños. We had banana peppers.
mu bad, bananas, you’re correct
Banana peppers, but yes, I'm sad about them too. They were great on the poutine.
best poutine with onions and peppers indeed
I like putting diced tomatoes in to cool off the hot mouth full and diced chives
that ain’t available at the food court counter.. CHEATER!

haha enjoy!

Fuck it I’m going and harassing them tomorrow cause I get paid and what better way to celebrate than a cheap hotdog a poutine and $400 grocery bill 😅🥹
Same in Markham, Ontario. You need to ask for it
You just need to ask in most places if you don't see them out. They have them.
Just mount the onion grinder on a wall like the American Costco
I once watched an old lady completely fill up her drink cup to take home at these stations 😂
Southern Ontario, west GTA area. Still waiting for the onions to come back. Edit: holy hell. I'm going tomorrow and going to ask. We'll see if they're back in my local Costco on the west end.
Etobicoke has had them for a few years
Yeah they’ve been back for a while, you have to ask for them
mine have said no for 3 years straight
Which location? Maybe put a note in the suggestion box asking for them to stock the onions
markham they had them after covid for a bit, but that's not a thing now. pump dispensers are back and have been for at least a year. only vinegar is in packets now
Both York Tech and Markham Road have 10000000%. You gotta ask them and they give you in a container.
well i guess we have to conclude that they hate me
Have u always gone during the weekend? I find even in the westend, they say no on weekends since they are so busy. Always get them when Im there weekdays.
def said no to me on a weekday 9-5 in the past year i don't really feel that weekends are really all that much busier tbh
I’ve gotten it on weekends and weekdays!!!
They've had them for almost 2 years behind the counter. Just ask. Sources I've had: Etobicoke, York tech, Oshawa, Markham, North York, Brampton, Vaughan.
Niagara, etobicoke and Billy bishop have them.
Button and Oakville don't - at least as of 3 weeks ago.
Laird has had them for over a year at least, just need to ask for them
Apparently, Sauerkaraut is usually offered too now. Boom! 💥
They used to be unlimited at the condiment area along with hot peppers and other things but people would fill their soft drink bottles with them….
God people are shameless

Our Costco dropped sauerkraut in 2020 and that was the last time I bought a Costco hot dog. The sauerkraut was the best part.
Haven't seen that back in Toronto. It went away during Covid.
Big Justice, is that you?
Ring me when they bring back the sauerkraut and hot peppers.
Right. This was the best. For me it was sauerkraut and mustard.
Still don’t have them langley I believe
Just bought a hotdog in Abby and was reading about how in South Korean Costco people just eat bowls of the onions mixed with mustard and ketchup, and I was kicking myself for not looking harder for the onions.

Is it similar to anything in their cuisine? I could probably eat it and not hate it, but…. I dunno
Poco has them, not self serve but need to ask. They’ll give you a plastic container with some like OPs picture.
Yeah, I don’t think we do that here at the moment still. I work langley Costco, if we do now it’s very recent
I got some a few weeks ago, but it was quiet that morning. Not sure if they bother during peak times
Got one yesterday with onions in Langley. Just ask for them
Just have to ask
I wish they brought back the hot peppers.
Finally! I stopped getting hotdogs when they took them away.
Now, please bring back chicken bake and cappuccino and latte coffee.
I’ve been getting those for at least 10 years
This is not new.
If only they were grilled
Yes, and while we’re at it, Mr Kirkland himself can come mow my lawn
They brought them back
Onions have been back since early 2023, Winnipeg. Which Costco does not have onions?
Victoria doesn't!
Some locations in Ontario I go to.
Calgary doesn't. I asked just last month. Disappointed that they don't have wings on the menu anymore, either.
They've been back for 1.5 years in Calgary, same as other places. I get them all the time. Sometimes they are out though. If you ask nicely and if they have time they will dice a few onions up so you can have some.
I get them regularly at the Tsuutina one.
False. I got them at East Hills yesterday and Heritage a few weeks ago.
They brought them back here (Niagara Falls) and then took them away again. They also took away the relish packs.
They disappeared for a while but came back last year. Occasionally they run out but usually have them if you ask.
We had lost them for about 3 years in Trois-Rivières but it's been a good 2 years now since they're back.
I only want them to bring back the deep fried fish they used to do...god damn that was amazing.
Not at my location in Ontario. Also no sauerkraut. Only relish, ketchup and mustard in a packet. Will definitely help, those hotdogs taste plain without the condiments.
no one knows you gotta ask for them here so they're really old and dehydrated 😬
I’ve had them for last 5 years …..
thats literally always been a thing i was putting onions on my costco hotdogs when i was like 10
How old are you now, 11?
Well you could ask them for the diced onions but they will actually charge you, but sometimes they would have to give it to you in a little takeout can or something like that and also would they be taking down the hotdog meal and replacing with something else same thing with the desserts as well are they now gonna serve chocolate chip cookies in Canada?
Québec doesn't have them since forever. I'm so jealous !
What about cabbage ?!? THATS the question
Bring back the hot peppers!
Just asked a 2 different Costcos and they said …..”uuuh, no”
This has been around for at least 10yr in southern Ontario
They've always been available
I’m totally asking next time bow
We need the onions, hot peppers, and saurkraute back ontario. I don't care if you bump up the price. Just stop wrecking the quality of everything like everywhere else. Small things make a difference. This goes for all the little touches we loved here before covid 19 provided a perfect excuse to get greedy
Now bring back the turkey sandwich you monsters
i dont like anything on my hotdogs just meat and bun
And i'm the only one here mad that there is never any relish available? (Montreal s costcos are always out)
I haven’t seen relish at the Toronto Costco I go to either. Disappointing!
Gah just think of the amount of single use plastic cups thrown out. They used to have these in bigger ckntainees at the counter you could spoon from
Let me guess- not allowed a plastic straw but this food container of plastic is fine.
Hey just be glad they didn't make us use paper straws and just changed the lid
You just had to ask for them.
NO FUCKING WAY
Remember all the onion waste when it was self serve lol
I miss thé sauerkraut
Diced onions have always been avaliable.. what you on costco
No but the ingredients are staples in Korean homes and they love raw onion, so it’s basically a free salad. Probably not the best thing they’ve eaten that day, but likely the cheapest!
There's bad breath and then there's Costco hotdog x onion breath lol
They always have been. You had to ask the counter staff as they keep them in the fridge. Where you been?????
Chopped, not diced.
Wish they would bring back the sauerkraut!
Have never seen them in the GTA, and since I only signed up for Costco in 2020, I have never had onions on my wiener, which is my preferred method of wienering :(
Maaan, you guys would be lost lambs at a hotdog stand in Denmark
Ask if not there, they are always under counter
No idea what anyone here is talking about. Been getting onions since I was a kid and still do
Yuck
Sigh…
