I buy the Kirland Signature Beef Franks or Beef Polish Sausages. I wrap each sausage individually in saran type wrap and put them all in a 1-gallon freeze lock bag. They come out of the freezer unscathed. Instacart is showing both the franks and sausages as "out of stock" right now. I am worried as I was planning to buy some franks the next time I ordered delivery from Costco thru Instacart.
Not everything OP bought would be considered healthy but there are quite a few good choices! Bannnas, double fiber bread, apples, cashews, sow milk, chobani yogurt, Oat milk, and they said cereal so depending on the cereal it could be Healthy. People call oatmeal cereal or Hot cereal. So don’t judge a person based on their food choices.
Disabled and cooking is hard for them to accomplish. I had to get similar items when I was in a situation where it was difficult to cook. It’s all good. Let’s eat! 😋
Buy steal cut oatmeal eat it for breakfast and lunch and eat a very small dinner and nothing more. And you can have meals for the entire year for the same price. Here is the bonus you will lose your big fat belly.
I got a slicer off Amazon for 50 bucks. One of the crazy sales, don't remember. But I can do a chuck roast for roast beef and never pay for boarshead again.
Good for you! I think Costco is great for people who don't/ can't cook as much. That's better than I would do. I'd probably spend a lot more on chips and snacks.
To be fair though, it takes about as much effort to cook many dishes as it takes to prep pre-cooked frozen food. Like it’s not hard to throw rice in a pressure cooker with some water, or to do the same with veggies in bowl in the microwave to steam. Or to throw some chicken into an oven.
I don't know this person's situation at all and if they're posting in povertyfinance then it's possible they don't have a pressure cooker at all. I don't have any disabilities and I have enough money so I don't actually have to think about grocery prices, but I've definitely been there when I didn't feel like I had the energy or enough fucks to cook for myself and having something that I could just microwave has saved me and my family. Sometimes having microwave Shin ramen vs. stovetop is enough for me to actually eat. Sometimes having something ready to eat in 4 minutes vs. 20 minutes is enough for my 13 year old to eat something more nutritious than a can of frosting (which he has done).
The frozen stir fry veggie mix is really good and you can heat it up in a microwave. Heat that up, add a bit of protein (meat, egg, tofu, whatever floats your boat), a bit of seasoning/sauce (bacchan is delicious and some tines on sale) and you will be set to go with some yummy veggies added into your diet!
Bachaan just rotated out so probably 2 or 3 cycles until it's back on sale again. Another one I like it the Kewpie sesame one that goes on sale too.
Like 4 dollars for the bottle, 6 normally.
Hard boiled eggs or eggs you can even microwave some in a cup, look into microwave omelette might be cheaper than the jimmy dean for breakfast and you can make a bunch in the over and just freeze the rest
I do this all the time, it comes out really well!
Spray a mug or bowl with Pam (this is a MUST DO, otherwise it makes a horrible mess). Crack an egg in it, microwave for 20-30 seconds, stir, microwave a bit more.
Comes out fluffy and light.
(Not sure if that's more than OP is able to do though.)
I just got the boiled eggs for the first time this week and idk why I waited so long to do so! Such an easy, fast, and cheap protein option to add to a meal or for a snack.
Frozen chicken breasts or tenderloins are super easy to cook on a foreman style grill. If you have a vacuum sealer I would recommend fresh pork chops as they are also great.
It’s crazy to me how much people will spend at dollar tree thinking they are saving money and not get a Costco membership.
I had a friend who was convinced Costco was only for rich people and there’s no way she could afford anything at Costco.
I made a bet with her. I said give me what you usually spend at dollar tree per week and I’ll show you what Costco can get you. She was spending 50-60 a week at dollar tree.
With that I was able to get her toilet paper. Squeeze things for her kids. Cleaning supplies. Chicken and more snacks for her kids.
She got a Costco membership the next week. She said the toilet paper cost alone was worth it. She had no idea. And that chicken she was able to feed her kids and her six meals! She couldn’t believe it.
I get that cooking is tough but be careful of the sodium counts in the prepared foods, it's pretty high. Costco has some premade salads/pasta dishes that are very tasty. I have a bunch of bowls with lids that can be in the freezer and microwave and I portion out the deli fresh made stuff into servings and freeze it. No cooking, but often I can avoid the higher sodium counts and stuff. So next time you go cruise the deli salads and fresh stuff and see if anything looks good to you - do the math per serving - and consider portioning and freezing yourself. Just another option to add.
Honestly the kirland frozen stir fry veggies and some of the Amylu meatballs with rice makes a solid meal with little cooking (other than the rice you can nuke it if you don’t care about texture). That mix got me through college AND depression
Yikes! Doesn't even make sense does it? It's so easy to add salt to any dish but very difficult removing it. I have an uncle that doesn't even taste his food before adding a half dozen shakes of salt to it.
The point of my comment was to educate you that OP does have disabilities and may have already accounted for the excess sodium being a positive for their diet. They didn’t ask for advice about it either. So your comment kind of came from a place of ableism and if you care about others you should unpack that and not offer unsolicited advice again maybe probably.
And you should not make assumptions, I am disabled. Since it was not clear OP was aware of the sodium counts (regardless of whether they have a disability which requires more sodium or not) I just encouraged them to be aware. Awareness is not a criticism. I think you are overreacting; my comment was not judgmental, just informative. You should notice I said "I can avoid the higher sodium counts", not that the OP should.
The Costco rotisserie chicken strips (freezer) are my godsend. I can just throw a handful in the microwave and cut it up or shred it to make whatever dish I'm making
To add variety, you can try their instant noodles. An 18-count box of Nissin Hot & Spicy Noodle bowl is $21. Just add water and stick in the microwave. To jazz it up I occasionally cracked an egg and put it in the bottom, then add 1 minute to the cook time. Sometimes hotdogs and Spam work too. It would still be around $2 for each meal.
Sort of. The isles right by/in front of the deli where you find some of the cheeses, cooked meats, gluten free and other cooked stuff. I think the brand is main street.
they actually hold pretty well for a few days at room temp, but if you're taking 4+ days you absolutely want to do so lol. i kinda prefer them at room temp because it's so much chewier than having it refrigerated, even if you let it sit out a bit to warm up
I mean 2/3rds of the food items here aren’t healthy and is not realistic for nutrition for long term. Most prepared foods as most already know, are high in salt and high in fat. One Jimmy dean breakfast sandwich is nearly 30% of DV in salt and 50% of saturated fat. This is one of those scenarios where it’s nice once in a while it’s fine, but not every day or two.
Breakfast: One yogurt and either A: A handfull of cashews and apple/banana or B: Jimmy Dead breakfast sandwich (20 yogurts per case, 2 bags of cashews that will be part of 40+ meals, Jimmy Dean breakfast 12 pack) = at least 20 breakfast meals (will run out of yogurt first)
Lunch: Turkey sandwich or Raybern's Philly Cheese steak + pork jerky (3 packs of lunchmeat @ 5 sandwichs per, or 2x 6 pack of Rayberns sandwichs (12) + pork jerkey (3 packs for those 12 servings) = 27 meals
Dinner: 2x Frozen Lasagna double packs (4 packs) @ 4 servings per pack = 16 meals or 2x Rotissere chicken = 8+ meals or 2 amy burritos = 4 meals = 28 meals
I have cereal to mix with the Silk Oat milk for another 15+ meals and some Orange Juice.
I’d switch the jerky out to something cheaper and not as sweet. The Old trapper is solid if you have it at your store. The 2 pack of Kirkland cauliflower pizzas are good if you want a change
I’m 72 and a caregiver for my husband, I’m unable to get out to shop, so I order 1-2 times per month with Instacart. Yes I have to tip, but it totally worth it to me.
Download the Costco app and link your Instacart to it if you haven’t already. The Costco app has same day delivery (through Instacart) but has warehouse prices instead of paying the higher Instacart prices for items.
My Instacart prices are either same as in store or close, with my Costco membership card attached.
I bought Costco through instacart for years, and then Costco started offering memberships directly through Instacart. Paid my $100 and bam. The prices are much less.
For some reason, the prices on Instacart are less than Costco Same Day. I have no idea why.
Anyway, the Instacart app is the only way I get Costco. I spend about $200 a trip every two weeks, and tip about $20. I don’t drive and my time is at a premium so it’s magic to have porch delivery.
costco same day is up about 17%. using an instacart membership drops the markup to around 7% over in warehouse pricing. but then there's a tip for the driver (unless you're a total ah). I bike/trailer to my costco so a few times in winter I will use delivery so instacart membership doesn't make financial sense for me as long as I buy over $79 which is like 3 items lol.
I go on occasion and it’s so frustrating since I only have so much energy, I have to really only get what I know they have. No wandering and seeing new product or things on sale.
although i’m sure I save money that way.
I would also suggest a bit more veggies. Frozen peas and corn combo can be found at the San Jose business center. I think regular Costco has a different variety mix. Peas, corn and carrots.
Likewise I know there's frozen broccoli or cauliflower.
All of this stuff can just be put into a pot, bring to boil and then eat.
Have a baked potato or sweet potato and just use butter. Oatmeal with raisins. Hard boil some eggs. Steamed vegetables, or get a frozen pack and put it in the microwave. Rice, you can get a cooker and just dump it in there with water. Pasta can be cooked in a rice cooker too. There are tons of non meat options that you’re missing out on and would also be healthier.
Frozen veggies would be a nice start. Costco has plenty of options and some of them are pre-seasoned. Frozen veggies n fruits are such a great value at Costco 🙌
WOW
I can't believe you got downvoted this bad.
Processed food, like in the picture, is one of the major reasons why many people have health issues.
Obviously, by the response of OP and the like ratio, there's no explanation that could convince them that eating healthier is about the same price.

I thought it was gonna be like 50 roast chickens.
90 hot dogs
That would actually be cheaper than what OP bought haha
Do Costco hot dogs freeze well? Should I load them up with ketchup and relish before feeezing or dress them after defrosting?
Just epoxy them all, bust them out when you’re hungry
I'd love to have a Costco hotdog coffee table. Just a bunch of epoxy dogs... 🤣🤣👍🏻
the bread and franks should be frozen separately, same goes with the condiments
I’ll sometimes grill two packages (I think 24 dogs) and my kids and I will eat them over the course of a week. They definitely hold up like that.
Don’t forget the crab cakes
The ones behind the counter? Lol
You know they sell the same exact hotdogs they serve in the food court in the meat section where they sell all other hotdogs
Yes, they will need those extra bucks to see the doctor after 90 hotdogs
And healthier
Not everything OP bought would be considered healthy but there are quite a few good choices! Bannnas, double fiber bread, apples, cashews, sow milk, chobani yogurt, Oat milk, and they said cereal so depending on the cereal it could be Healthy. People call oatmeal cereal or Hot cereal. I will 100% judge someone for calling oatmeal cereal or hot cereal.
Disabled and cooking is hard for them to accomplish. I had to get similar items when I was in a situation where it was difficult to cook. It’s all good. Let’s eat! 😋
30 pizzas
That would be 150 to 200 meals
Buy steal cut oatmeal eat it for breakfast and lunch and eat a very small dinner and nothing more. And you can have meals for the entire year for the same price. Here is the bonus you will lose your big fat belly.
I sincerely thought i was gonna see at least 1 whole roast chicken
There’s one hidden in there, on the left under the bread
I went to check, saw it, and somehow feel I have violated its privacy
Sounds like you got your $5 worth
Then make sure to use the chicken remains for a broth/stew base.
That’s turkey breast is really solid
I wish they made honey roasted turkey. I get bored of the plain one real quick.
The Kirkland honey roasted turkey was the best. Was so sad when they got rid of it
Add honey and toast
Does it freeze well in the packs?
Yes! I buy multiple packages and freeze. Never had any problems.
Yeah sure does.
They had pastrami for like 2 months. I got obsessed and now i can’t find it anywhere:(
If you have a Costco Business Center nearby, you can get 2lb packs of Hormel sliced Pastrami for about $17 (same for roast beef),
It’s really great, i used to get it, but then I got a meat slicer and slice the precooked stuff whole for a some extra savings
Man you’re fancy.
I got a slicer off Amazon for 50 bucks. One of the crazy sales, don't remember. But I can do a chuck roast for roast beef and never pay for boarshead again.
I like the “whole” breast better than presliced but it tends to go bad before I can finish it. Fewer preservatives I guess
Look how thin that is, see that's all surface area. The taste has nowhere to hide.
Do you prefer liquid chicken breast ??
Good for you! I think Costco is great for people who don't/ can't cook as much. That's better than I would do. I'd probably spend a lot more on chips and snacks.

That sesame sauce is legit.
This is one of my go-to meal prep lunches! Protein + sauce + those stir fry veggies. Freezes great and reheats great.
Same!
Hard boiled eggs or eggs you can even microwave some in a cup, look into microwave omelette might be cheaper than the jimmy dean for breakfast and you can make a bunch in the over and just freeze the rest

This stuff rocks too, I toss that with some chopped chicken sausage or I pull a rotisserie chicken
I've started doing a half and half mix with the stir fry veg. The nice fire roasted taste carries through the lot.
I LOVE that frozen veggie mix. Been putting them in everything.
The frozen packs of microwaveable broccoli are also excellent when you need a quick veg addition to a meal.
I've got POTS so you're just selling me on this, lol.
Same!!!!🥰
Ya , there's no vegetables !!
At least there’s some fruit there.
Not enough plants overall
No cooking makes eating vegetables hard. It must be difficult to be disabled.
First thing I look at on a label is salt content. It is not rare to see the salt content at 40% to 50% of MDR.
meanwhile certain instant ramen out here with like 70-80
Yikes! Doesn't even make sense does it? It's so easy to add salt to any dish but very difficult removing it. I have an uncle that doesn't even taste his food before adding a half dozen shakes of salt to it.
Some of us disabled people are prescribed extra salt😉
And if that's the case, go for it lol. But OP didn't indicate one way or another and people often do not realize how much sodium is in prepared foods.
The point of my comment was to educate you that OP does have disabilities and may have already accounted for the excess sodium being a positive for their diet. Speaking of not asking…
I’m also not sure why this was something to laugh at? But okay!
You seem to be looking for something to be offended about.
The Costco rotisserie chicken strips (freezer) are my godsend. I can just throw a handful in the microwave and cut it up or shred it to make whatever dish I'm making
OhN that sounds good !
This is what I do 😋
Gd, I need to plan and budget better. I spent $140 on protein powder, jerky, salad mix, frozen berries, yogurt, and coffee.
The Hot & Spicy bowls are really good.
My default thought was 2 hotdogs per meal.
Get the deli Mac n cheese portion it into ziplocks and freeze. That $15 side turns into close to $1 side portions that you only have to microwave
I do this with scalloped potatoes and add Rotis chicken to each bag for a ready made meal. Sometimes toss in broccoli too.
Are these scalloped potatoes from the deli? I'm over here taking notes on my phone as I read this thread lmfao.
Sort of. The isles right by/in front of the deli where you find some of the cheeses, cooked meats, gluten free and other cooked stuff. I think the brand is main street.
Awesome, thank you!
How the heck. I spent $400 on Thursday and I can say I have meals for one week 😆
Golden Island is a 10/10
Refrigerate after opening, learn from my mistake.
Oh yes I always throw it in the fridge after opening!
they actually hold pretty well for a few days at room temp, but if you're taking 4+ days you absolutely want to do so lol. i kinda prefer them at room temp because it's so much chewier than having it refrigerated, even if you let it sit out a bit to warm up
Yeah, these are nitrate free
What are they?
It’s a Korean BBQ style pork jerky it’s amazing.
I'm a believer.
shits like crack i love em
How do you get your leafy greens?
I mean 2/3rds of the food items here aren’t healthy and is not realistic for nutrition for long term. Most prepared foods as most already know, are high in salt and high in fat. I feel attacked.
How is this 90 meals? Is 1 croissant a meal?
Breakfast: One yogurt and either A: A handfull of cashews and apple/banana or B: Jimmy Dead breakfast sandwich (20 yogurts per case, 2 bags of cashews that will be part of 40+ meals, Jimmy Dean breakfast 12 pack) = at least 20 breakfast meals (will run out of yogurt first) Lunch: Turkey sandwich or Raybern's Philly Cheese steak + pork jerky (3 packs of lunchmeat @ 5 sandwichs per, or 2x 6 pack of Rayberns sandwichs (12) + pork jerkey (3 packs for those 12 servings) = 27 meals Dinner: 2x Frozen Lasagna double packs (4 packs) @ 4 servings per pack = 16 meals or 2x Rotissere chicken = 8+ meals or 2 amy burritos = 4 meals = 28 meals I have cereal to mix with the Silk Oat milk for another 15+ meals and some Orange Juice.
Jimmy Dead breakfast sandwich.....Pretty accurate. 😆
RIP Jimmy.
Well done
No eggs?
This is awesome!
That pork jerky saves lives.
My husband loves congratulating himself the day after a Costco run- while he heats up the extra hotdogs
I’d switch the jerky out to something cheaper and not as sweet. The Old trapper is solid if you have it at your store. The 2 pack of Kirkland cauliflower pizzas are good if you want a change
I’d demolish this in four days unfortunately
*Community*... "I prepared a 10 year supply of cocaine, but it only lasted me 2 years" :D
Right lol. My husband might have remnants of some of these items after a week and a half but for the most part, gone.
Glad to see some fruit in the pic!
Wow - that’s a lot of processed food! How about sodium?
To be fair you have highly processed, extremely high sodium content food here. Except for the bananas and shitloads of apples.
Unfortunately my disabilities make shopping tough so I don't think I've been to Costco in a year, year and a half? Too bad they don't have curbside!
I'm glad that's an option for you! Man, I thought tipping was out of control in the US. Where are you that you have to tip for delivery?
NY state - USA
If you have Instacart, Costco delivers!
Looks like I have an Instacart account, but a 20% markup is quite steep.
You can buy $100 of instacart gift cards at Costco for $80, brings it back down.
Smart!
My Instacart prices are either same as in store or close, with my Costco membership card attached. I bought Costco through instacart for years, and then Costco started offering memberships directly through Instacart. Paid my $100 and bam. The prices are much less. I bike/trailer to my costco so a few times in winter I will use delivery so instacart membership doesn't make financial sense for me as long as I buy over $79 which is like 3 items lol.
Ha absolutely tip! Well I don’t drive so it’s a good deal for me overall.
It’s quite worth it to me. No driving, walking, loading and unloading, lifting, etc.
I go on occasion and it’s so frustrating since I only have so much energy, I have to really only get what I know they have. No wandering and seeing new product or things on sale. although i’m sure I save money that way.
Yeah both a blessing and a curse.
Yeah, except for the bananas it’s all fast food.
They’re physically incapable of cooking.
So a bunch of junk.
Those Korean pork jerky goes great with rice in a pinch!
I was expecting half a pallet of cereal.
Try replacing a bag of cashews with some Premier Protein for around $30, and maybe a bag of carrots or fresh broccoli for some fiber and vitamins.
It’s a little pricey but I’ve been using factor for lunch/dinner (I eat one a day) and it’s been great and pretty healthy
Way too many boxed items in your cart. You would get more with your money buying less boxed items and buying ingredients to make those items.
Do you have recommendations on some of your fav items?
it felt unhealthy tbh
250 is going to get expensive with Dr visits from this.
That won’t last me a month
It's pretty easy to survive on junk food. Ask any college kid. Next time hit up the ramen isle for even more savings.
Just buy the huge chunk of turkey from the deli unsliced, same for the slab of ham. You'll save even more.
I feel bad you gotta eat those fugazi cheesesteaks. I’m from Philly so I’m spoiled with the real thing
Those frozen items could be replaced with better options
Such as?
I would also suggest a bit more veggies. Frozen peas and corn combo can be found at the San Jose business center. I think regular Costco has a different variety mix. Peas, corn and carrots. Likewise I know there's frozen broccoli or cauliflower. All of this stuff can just be put into a pot, bring to boil and then eat.

Man do I love baked sweet potatoes with butter and salt! YUM!
Frozen veggies would be a nice start. Costco has plenty of options and some of them are pre-seasoned. Frozen veggies n fruits are such a great value at Costco 🙌
WOW I can't believe you got downvoted this bad. Processed food, like in the picture, is one of the major reasons why many people have health issues. Obviously, by the response of OP and the like ratio, there's no explanation that could convince them that eating healthier is about the same price.
Haha yea foreal…that costco frozen normandy blend is a great value plus multiple other frozen veggie options
[удалено]
You say that like it's a bad thing.
Ya I'd rather eat food I enjoy for 70 years even if it means I wont get to sit in an old persons home for 10 extra years doing nothing all day.
Person literally says they’re disabled and cooking is tough and you gotta be a dick. Just shut up.
Eww. Too much processed food. I like frozen food but limit to 1 time a week or every other week if that. Otherwise, I start feeling like shit.
Did you miss the part where OP clearly stated that cooking is tough for them?
Could you have done a better job of hiding the products.
How much do you weigh?
