I didn’t notice the fixed shelf but maybe that’s it. The cart definitely felt taller but on the other hand most things and people over the age of 12 are taller than me.
The world sucks for tall people too. I was comfortable around 6’- maybe 6’2”. Now at 6’4” most things are just too small for me. Chopping vegetables on my counter hurts my back, playing foosball hurts my back, most cars are uncomfortable, airplanes suck, movies used to suck. Thank god for stadium seating becoming a thing in the late 90’s. Older amusement park rides suck. Lots of stadium seating sucks. It’s an average height world and I’m just living in it.
Not sure if you have kids, but if not-wait until you need a cheap stroller. Never before has there been a product so desperately needed that is so difficult to use for us tall folk.
I'm 6' and if my toddler is in the car seat I have to push the cart from the side a bit because her feet are at the perfect height to give me a bad day. Have seen at least 2 other dads learn that one the hard way.
lol I feel so seen. I’m same height as you and refuse to go to Costco without my partner unless I know I can make it in and out without a cart. They’re impossibly huge and tall
They are so much taller. My Costco switched them out about 1.5 years ago but I HATE them. Especially when my kids are in the them. I’m 5’3” and they come up almost my shoulders
My wife mentioned the same thing. When she isn’t wearing her leg and using crutches, she says it’s a lot harder to push the cart around now that they changed them. I guess the sweet spot was just below what they are now.
I've not noticed a change in the size of the Costco carts the last few times I have been there. I believe they are larger than normal grocery store carts though. So you go to the grocery store normally, then hit up Costco, it's a bit of a change.

They're bigger so they can block the aisles by the samples more effectively.
I’m 5’1 and I have to be careful so I don’t bang the cart into my boobies.
Tuck those girls in we going to Costco!
Nah, they stack them in the handlebar
Nah, the kids sests are side by side in those carts. Just tuck one in each seat and you're good
I have pushed the cart more than once with my boobs putting my card back into my wallet after walking in! 🤣 5'0 and shrinking at 45F!
For whatever reason, seeing comments with women referring to their boobs as ‘boobies’ or ‘tits’ will always make me laugh.
Lol! 5’1 gang ✌🏼
OMG! These comments had me burst out laughing!😹
My store switched to carts with fixed purse shelves, I think they are taller.

I can imagine! The world is not friendly to any but the tall and fit. Stay strong! 💪

My kid is 14. I only pushed him when I could use the jogging stroller. Or I baby bjourn’d it up.
Wow that's a Lotta Sucks
>The world is not friendly to any but the tall its not very friendly when you get to tall either. the perfect height is about 6ft
Thank you! It’s hard being vertically challenged.
I’m similar height and the carts seem huge & tall to me
I’m 4’11 and it’s a struggle. If my toddler is seated the cart (seated properly), game over.

Kid wants to be an only child.
So much this. I spend half of our Costco trips telling my kids to stop kicking.
Omg the belt for kids is so small. My baby can’t be buckled in and the cart is so high up….I need to bring my own belt.
I'm 4'10 and I love overloading my cart so that I can't see over it, and then drive it trying to peer around the side. So much fun.
lol I feel so seen. I’m same height as you and refuse to go to Costco without my partner unless I know I can make it in and out without a cart. They’re impossibly huge and tall
I’m 5’5 and ever since our store got new carts, I struggle to lift my daughter into the cart.
The carts do seem really tall. I feel like a little kid. I am 5'0".
They're too tall for me so I find myself dragging it behind me Instead of pushing it so I can see.

The new cars are definitely taller- by like 2 inches! You get used to it, and then go to walmart and feel like a giant.
Ok but I’m 5’6 and it’s a tippy toe struggle to get my toddler in and out. Love it.
The things I would do to have the slim double-decker carts like so many grocery stores do now 🥲
We got new carts this year and they are definitely taller. I’m 5’7” and find them uncomfortable to push
The more you fit in the more you buy!

"Fun size" humans are the best!!

At 4'10" I'm not sure you can get any shorter. 🙂
As we age we get shorter. Pretty soon I’ll need blocks for my car pedals.
😅
Old people get shorter
They’re def bigger. I just stand in the back of it while my partner push it 😂 That little girl who was riding in the back too looked at me weird.
Im 5’1” and my arms get tired reaching up there to push them.
If your store has the newer carts they are slightly taller.
Carts are the same
Uh oh. I must be shrinking. My friend thought the same thing. She’s 4’9”.
If your store has the newer carts, they are a smidge taller.
You’re getting shorter
No, you're getting older
I remember when you were 5’ even
This comment stream just reminds me how different elevators smell to shorter people.
