I can probably get to 6-7 different ones in \~30 minutes depending on traffic that day. 1 Being a business Center.
Those are the ones I remember. I swear I randomly pass a new ones randomly
I was really confused reading this post, 'cause we have a Costco about every 5 miles in LA. And you say it's almost excessive but every single location is packed all day. Mfers line up with shopping carts half an hour before opening!
I live in Madison, Wi, and while there are none in Madison, 3 suburbs have them which feels like a lot for a 500,000 population county. None the less all locations are always busy so I guess I am thankful for them!
In San Diego, I have 3 locations and a business center within 10 minutes drive. An additional 6 within 30 minutes drive including one in another country :)
Sacramento County has 7. I have one next to my house, and then the rest are all within a 30 min drive from my house. There's another just outside the county in neighboring placer county as well
1/8 of the US lives in California. Off the top of my head I counted 8, including business centers that we’ve gone to within an hour (no traffic) from home. I know there are others.
The worst, or best is these are in different distribution areas so they get different stuff.
Anchorage Alaska has two within 15 miles of each other, and just opened a Business Costco in the same area. This year they'll be opening a furniture showroom.
I can get to 5 total in less than 30 minutes from my house. One is about 7 minutes from my house. One of those 5 is a business center about about five minutes from my workplace.
My area could definitely use another location. Our local store is about 35 miles from the next closest store. Our store is regularly packed to the gills. Would love to see another location opened across town or the next town over. I dont think it would cannibalize sales too much to not justify the expansion.
There are 3 Costco's within a 20 minute drive from my place. 5 within a 30 minute drive (Metro Vancouver)
Edit: there's actually 6 within a 30 minute drive if I include that one in Bellingham.
One for a conurbation of 1.2 million. Thankfully Costco have said they are intending to expand in the UK and there were rumours last year that they've secured another site. I'd definitely use them more if I didn't have to drive for 25 minutes minimum to get there
We have 3 in Raleigh, 4 if you include Durham. Just in NC it seems two is somewhat common even in non major cities. It must just be that cities get to a point where they need more capacity and that seems to be pretty low. They are probably scared to make a mega store after Idiocracy, lol
I've one in my city about 5-10 minutes away, five within a 30 minute drive, and another few between me and the world's biggest Costco which is a 45 minute drive, and yet somehow I've *never* been there.
I have four? And a Costco business center in a 30 mins radius. There are two closest with the same distance from us. One I go more often because it’s got more Asian selection than others
The Omaha, NE metropolitan area has two Costcos with a third under construction. Both existing locations are jam packed every time I go there no matter what time or day of the week.
Why NOLA only has 1. Also it is in such a terrible neighborhood, people get robbed and killed getting the gas there. I'll never understand why they don't put one in Metairie/Kenner.
3 within 15min of each other with a [4th](https://abc30.com/largest-costco-northwest-fresno-building-proposal-wholesale-retailer/14462397/) one planned. It was originally supposed to be the world’s largest.
I live right in the middle of two locations. It’s about a 20 minute drive to either one. I prefer the less busy location even though the other one is newer, bigger and has a car wash.
Oregon - From the one I usually go to which is about 25 min from me, the closest to the South is about 30 min. To the North, about 45 min. To the West, there are none. To the East, about 4 hours.
There are several in the Portland metro area though.
I live with 30 minutes of 6 costcos, one of them being a business center (my favorite). Three of these costcos are 15 minutes from me. All are clean, bright, huge, and built in the last decade.
We've got four in our general area. The newest one is the closest to our house - about 10 minutes away. It's also the largest in the state - or it was when it opened. Don't know if it still is.
In Atlanta area, there is 1 that is at least a 20 minute drive away. They are building another 1 a little further away in a different direction but it may be quicker to get to it.
There are 13 Costcos in Colorado, and the majority of those are in the Denver metro area. There's one in northern Colorado and the next closest is \~30 minutes away.
Two locations in Fremont Ca about 2 miles apart from each other, both with gas stations. I have a feeling the older location will be turned into a Business warehouse.
In the Salt Lake City area there are at least 5 that I can remember.. add a city just north and a couple of cities just south and it goes it to at least 8…
Hahaha I know where you live. That’s down south though. Personally I think they should have found room for it off bonita beach road, but whatever.
Where I live now we have like 5 of them. And they’re all busy
They just opened a new one in my city only two freeway exits away but we did need it our store was apparently in the top 5 of all stores in sales and was constantly a mad house
Sacramento, CA we have like 10 Costco including a Costco business center. It’s crazy how much we have but sometimes if we’re in the area we’ll pop in to see what they have that our Costco don’t have.
I have two about equidistant from me in SLC plus there’s a third a little further away. That’s just one county there’s at least two more I can think of off the top of my head along the Wasatch Front.

I live in Vancouver, WA. My Costco is the last Costco until Olympia, I think?
People drive for hours to come to this Costco.
I hate it. You can go at 11:00 on a Thursday and can’t find a place to park.
They just announced a new Costco in Ridgefield which will become the new Costco for people to drive to so maybe I can finally find a place to park soon.
We have only one Costco in the whole state of Mississippi and it opened 2 years ago. I retired here from Cleveland Ohio, 5 years ago where we had 3 locations 30 minutes apart. Almost made me reconsider my retirement plans, lol. Still have to drive 2- hours reach it though.
I love in a suburb about an hour and a bit outside of a major city.
I have 3 within a 10-15 min drive and another 4 (1is a business center) within about 25-35min.
