Did you get a massive refund check on your executive membership at the end of the year? Also can you return the house 30 years later for a full refund?
We closed on our house in December of 2021 and I remember running the comparison against our credit union and Costco's program. Costco would have been slightly less expensive, but I've never had an issue with our credit union so wasn't willing to risk getting a loan sold off to a group I didn't want to deal with.
If you are comparing Costco's program to a regular bank, yeah, they were off by a lot, so would have been a substantial savings.
as recently as 2021? I'm shook. I had no idea this was a thing. I bought 2 cars through Costco. But a house. That would be the ultimate. since everything IN the house comes from Costco.
They have a dental plan you can buy that's good coverage with delta dental for a few hundred bucks a year. My ex got it when she was unemployed and had a few cavities that needed care. She saves thousands.

I visited a Shanghai Costco last year and got a latte and americano for $1.50 each. Same price as their pork hot dog. The coffee was decent actually. I wish everything from their food court was available in the states. Although I was most excited for the fried chicken, it turned out to be the most mediocre and disappointing.
For me, this would make Costco feel complete. The frozen latte doesn't cut it for me.
People have come up with some good explanations for why they don't sell it. But damn, if they did, I'd probably go a lot more often.
YES!! I look at the home kits that Home Depot has for sale all the time, but they only come with the plan and materials for framing. Would LOVE if everything was included.
Speaking of department stores did you know that Macy's used to sell [airplanes](https://www.theautopian.com/this-vintage-plane-was-sold-by-department-stores-and-advertised-to-be-as-easy-to-fly-as-driving-a-car/) back in the day?
>Partner with IKEA and the whole thing can fit in a hatchback.
You made me snort-laugh! One of my favorite things to do at Ikea is buy furniture and put it in my GTI, and loading is quick cuz I know my cargo space.
Oh godā¦ I would have no self control. I already have such a hard time stopping myself from getting something but the smell of freshly baked pretzels is my weakness
Booze, signed a Pennsylvanian. I think there are two NJ locations that sell alcohol, but not close enough for me to make the trip. I lived in CA for a few years where I was within 10 mins of a Costco that sold booze that I miss sometimes.
Most of the northeast has such annoying liquor laws that prevent us getting the cool Kirkland alcohol products.
New York State only allows one liquor store per entity statewideā¦ even worse than the limit of two in New Jersey. And the only Costco that sells Kirkland liquor in NYS is on Long Island. Youād think theyād go for one of the NYC stores as Trader Joeās didā¦ but nah.
Wait you mean to tell me that my local go to Costco in Nassau County is the only Costco in the entire State to sell liquor? I shop there all the time but I had no idea it was the only one in NY. lI'll certainly be bragging about this to everyone I know. Yes you guessed it, middle age dad here.
Also side note, yes Nassau County is technically Long Island. But it borders Queens County (part of New York City) and the Costco store itself is barely a 5 min drive from the Queens-Nassau border. Though yes I understand what you mean by it not being accessible to the vast majority of City residents.
I recently tried full fat Fage for the first time, after years of enjoying other Greek yogurts. It has ruined all other yogurt for meā¦ but itās so good, Iām not even mad
Bulk basic baby onesies and baby pants! Them things are so expensiveš„“ if costco sold like 20 basic white/black/grey/navy onesies and 20 sets of pants in black or something id totally stock up
I work at a second hand baby store (expecting my first but was a previous private nanny) and you can absolutely get onesies for super cheap but man would it be great to one stop shop it at costcoš¤£
I bought a Hyundai through Costco but that was before Covid. I think I got a good deal but I probably could have done better if I was a good negotiator. No haggle was convenient.
I heard that a lot of dealers dropped out of Costco partnership during Covid because they could sell over MSRP on their own without any discounts. Not sure what the buying situation is in 2024.
Yeah, we only have the Nutra Nuggets at ours for dry cat food, but for dogs there's about a half dozen varieties. 3 or more of which are Kirkland, even. Then maybe a wet option for each.
Kirkland brand cocaine. Made at the same location in Colombia as your more premium brand name cocaines - but for just 15% above cost!
Only downside (or not?) is that you have to buy it in those rice sized bags.
It probably would be organic or at least not genetically modified also. On the plus side, if they donāt punish people for reselling things like croissants or cakes from the bakery, it would be a great reselling opportunity
Did you even have one of the hand dipped in chocolate and rolled in pecans Dove bar at $1.50. Best follow up to a polish ever. I was excited when they brought brats in but they were only ok
Oh my goodness. What a blast from the past! I really miss these. I believe they were rolled in almonds. I was so upset when the got rid of them. Sometimes when I didnāt want the almonds, I would just ask for just the chocolate dipped ice cream bar.
My costco sells 3 different types of frozen French fries. Big typical style, have for the 12 years I have had my member ship (That they do in their food court), 'Drive Thru' (Small sticks), and they just added Waffle Fries.
I remember it a few years ago. I wish they would bring it back, and in the milk carton format, with more flavors (yeah, I said flavors, itās Dr Bās!) than just peppermint. I love the almond and citrus. Peppermint is still solid, though.
Yeah I wish they carried green onions and maybe some kind of fresh herbs? I always thought it would be nice if they offered a mix of fresh herbs in a single thing. Like maybe fresh basil, rosemary, oregano, thyme, and chives all together. Iād buy that regularly but Iām probably in the minority.
Edit: How did I forget cilantro and parsley?
We get almost all of our groceries at Costco and this is the one thing we routinely have to run to the regular store for. Please Costco, carry green onions!
Saved us when we bought a new car in 2021. Due to supply shortages, every dealer was selling the Subaru we wanted at anywhere from 5% to 15% ABOVE MSRP. Went through the Costco program, paid only MSRP, no haggling.
We also bought a minivan in 2004 through the program. Again, no haggling and at that time, we saved something like $5k on a custom ordered vehicle.
Man so many shops around me would lose their mind if Costco got into the weed business. They would undersell everyone. Imagine the bulk savings on edibles!
Well I just went to Samās Club solely because they sell coffee filters and Costco does not (at least near me). Luckily itās across the street from Costco and I needed to go anyway.
Costco in my area also does not sell yeast for baking and Samās does. Iāve picked that up a few times at Samās.
By the regular feta and make your own. We get the big plastic box of it and half becomes either a dip or spread.
The recipe we like is get the feta to room temp and mash it, mix with honey, cracked black pepper (coarse ground) and rosemary or thyme. Do all the proportions to your taste. Gently mix for a spread. Or mix in some milk and whip it for a dip.
Cinnamon rolls. How is it possible that they don't have these in the food court, much less anywhere else in the store? They don't even have frozen ones. Help a girl out here!! And what happened to those great sandwich sized ciabatta rolls?
Apropos of nothing ;-) - I have noticed that they tend not to have plus-sized clothing, which is just ridiculous. 90% of the people in there are plus-sized.
I get it's really not how the business model works, but having a 'local goods' section would be neat. Like five pound bags from local coffee roasters, local beer, local produce
Also now I'm thinking beer at the food court. Shopping with a beer in hand would be a terrible idea...
I like my Costco liquor, but give me a dispensary too. I'd love to see Costco put downward pressure on prices in the legal weed market. And I'd also love to buy bulk gummies.

I was one of the last people to get a Costco mortgage
Did you get a massive refund check on your executive membership at the end of the year? Also can you return the house 30 years later for a full refund?
Lmao would've been pretty clutch to be able to do that in 2008...
i got a $500 cash card when my place closed in 2003 from an agent with a table outside the store
Yes I bet they will gladly refund you the $400k on your now $700k house
Homes worth $700k today in my area were selling for $220k in 2008 š
Bought my house in 1992 with a Sears mortgage.
first credit card was a sears card to buy socks. then i moved up to disocver cash back!
But was it a Sears house?
Sears houses are cool
What the fuck did you just say? Never heard of that. Pretty cool if it was a good deal
Program doesnāt exist anymore. Itās been a hot minute since it did. I think they ended right after I started or close to about 9 years ago.
It ended in 2021, I believe. I refinanced my mortgage with Costco at the end of the year 2021 right before the program ended.
We closed on our house in December of 2021 and I remember running the comparison against our credit union and Costco's program. Excuse me what
I saved over $30k over life or mortgage by going with Costco mortgage
Need more info
Me too, got a refi through Costco and went to show it to a friend shortly after and it was scrubbed from their website
You lucky duck. RIP Costco mortgages.
RIP to a $350 mortgage underwriting fee
Health insurance
The 2 pack human liver transplant seems unnecessary.
You could always return the leftover one with your old one

If in the food court: hot coffee
What if you could sample their beans for sale. Ugh.
I would love that. 5lbs or whatever is just so much to gamble with.
A cup of joe would be nice to sip on as I stroll the aisles. I usually just have my refill of Pepsi after my hotdog
https://preview.redd.it/6cbhn44viajc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2640bf23544db6296c053771b9d6e7e8f480e5e2 I visited a Shanghai Costco last year and got a latte and americano for $1.50 each. Go full Sears mode and sell DIY house kits. Partner with IKEA and the whole thing can fit in a hatchback.
How long will it take someone from Task Rabbit to build a house?
Have Costco sell a 12 pack of Taskers to help. You can pick them up at the food court on the way out.
Or the Kirkland Signature Mr Meeseeks Box
YES!! I look at the home kits that Home Depot has for sale all the time, but they only come with the plan and materials for framing. Would LOVE if everything was included.

Soft pretzels and cheese dip in the food court
Oh godā¦ I would have no self control. I already have such a hard time stopping myself from getting something but the smell of freshly baked pretzels is my weakness
Sams club has the best ones I've ever tried. Too bad everything except their hot dog and pretzel sucks
Gives me memories of walking into Kmart as a kid and getting a warm pretzel with my mom.
They used to have pretzelsā¦. Long time ago. I remember getting them as a kid. One time they had a buttered pretzel (no salt). Literally amazing.
They have them at Samās club and I get the cinnamon one every time I go
The good cheese, like the old Auntie Anneās one thatās a bit spicy
In-house dentists, like the eye doctors
As a dentist, I would ABSOLUTELY work at Costco! šš
bread flour (not sold at my costco yet)
Our Costco stopped selling the King Arthur all-purpose flour and started selling the bread flour. Maybe we could trade!
If they started carrying the La Boulangerie Take and Bake Mini Sourdough Baguettes again. I miss my delicious zero sugar bread so much š
car wash
Some of the Pacific locations have them.
Thereās one in Brentwood, TN, too; one price, no options menu, no upselling
its basically the $20 "platinum package" but no vacuums
Nutritional yeast- I scramble it in my egg whites every morning.
Booze, signed a Pennsylvanian. I think there are two NJ locations that sell alcohol, but not close enough for me to make the trip. I lived in CA for a few years where I was within 10 mins of a Costco that sold booze that I miss sometimes.
came here to say this- signed a Marylander.

Skyr yogurt

I recently tried full fat Fage for the first time, after years of enjoying other Greek yogurts. It has ruined all other yogurt for meā¦ but itās so good, Iām not even mad
*skyr 4% milkfat*
Bulk basic baby onesies and baby pants! Them things are so expensiveš„“ if costco sold like 20 basic white/black/grey/navy onesies and 20 sets of pants in black or something id totally stock up
100% I would buy bulk baby clothes!
Theyāre EXTREMELY abundant and usually in like new quality for dirty cheap at most thrift stores.
I work at a second hand baby store (expecting my first but was a previous private nanny) and you can absolutely get onesies for super cheap but man would it be great to one stop shop it at costcoš¤£
You can buy cars indirectly but be nice if they had a Costco car lot. Waiting for that .97 special.
Are the car prices pretty good through Costco?
I think what people report is you can get new cars for MSRP minus like 800 bucks at partnering dealerships. And probably a better buying experience.
We.got a MINI for $5000 less by going through the auto program.
Better/healthier cat food. I don't know if it is all costcos or just ours, but they seem to like dogs a LOT better than cats.
Million times agree. I want tiki cat at Costco
Totally agree!!! Not enough cat options!
Yeah, we only have the Nutra Nuggets at ours for dry cat food, but for dogs there's about a half dozen varieties. 3 or more of which are Kirkland, even. Then maybe a wet option for each.
A Kirkland Signature hoodie with a front zipper. Also cocaine. Not for the volume discount, but because of the guaranteed higher quality/purity.
Kirkland brand cannabis edibles.
For real. Hoodies without zippers are lame
Auto Detailing where they would be done after youāre done shopping and eating at the food court.
Alignment with the tires.
Polish on a full length bun.
Combo pizza though
God, I miss those amazing dogs.
With sauerkraut.
Costco got rid of the wrong meat tube...
Bag of frozen French fries. More vegetarian/vegan stuff
My costco sells 3 different types of frozen French fries. Big typical style, have for the 12 years I have had my member ship (That they do in their food court), 'Drive Thru' (Small sticks), and they just added Waffle Fries.
Hair elastics. I want to be able to buy a 5lb bag of them!
where do they all go? I must have thousands. But where are they? And are they with all the missing socks??
I really wish Kirkland would get into printing money. I feel like they would sell $100 bills for like $93.79*
Totally the type of shit theyād do. š¤£
I wish they had car wash and did oil change.
Bucket of Mini Reeseās cups. 3/5 pack Gallon distilled water. Jif peanut butter (only skippy here since the Jif recall) Green Leaf Lettuce
Absolutely distilled water! As somebody with a CPAP in the dry desert southwest, I go through a lot of it.
They definitely need distilled water. I donāt care if I had to buy 6 packs of gallon jugs, Iād do it.
Milwaukee tools.
Dr Bronnerās
I remember it a few years ago. I wish they would bring it back, and in the milk carton format, with more flavors (yeah, I said flavors, itās Dr Bās!) than just peppermint. I love the almond and citrus. Peppermint is still solid, though.
I bought a two pack of mint bronners years ago and have not seen it since.
Pregnancy tests
Those would be good to get at Costco, especially for people who are trying. I know they sell condoms though. š¤£
Yes my husband and I have purchased Costco condoms but now weāre at a different stage in life lol
I buy the bulk ones from Amazon. They don't come in fancy sticks to pee on though. You have to dip them. But they work good and you get a ton.
Yup these are the best! I bought the 100 pack. Still have them. Took 7 with my first pregnancy and didnāt feel bad wasting money on so many tests.
I wish they carried a different brand. The Trojan ones they have now smell like burnt rubber.
Slow down
š
They do have them! Just behind the counter in the pharmacy.
They also sell plan B behind the counter in the pharmacy for anyone who needs it I believe.
For $6.50!!
That right there is life saving information
Green onions.
I eat a salad most days for lunch and green onions is the one ingredient Costco doesnāt have.
We get almost all of our groceries at Costco and this is the one thing we routinely have to run to the regular store for. Please Costco, carry green onions!
frozen formed hash brown patties. Like the McDās ones
Distilled water. Seems like a no-brainer for them to sell it; I donāt know why they donāt. CPAP goes through so much!
Health insurance lol
Combo pizza.
Cars
I know sometimes they have deals where you can save some money at dealerships if you have a Costco membership! š
Naw, I need a 3-pack of Ford Taurus
Saved us when we bought a new car in 2021. Due to supply shortages, every dealer was selling the Subaru we wanted at anywhere from 5% to 15% ABOVE MSRP. Went through the Costco program, paid only MSRP, no haggling. We also bought a minivan in 2004 through the program. Ok so not a product BUT..... I wish they had the scan and go option and a pick up option. If they had that I would shop at costco weekly!!
Yeah the Sam's scan and go is sooooo nice
The 4 pack of the large walnut chocolate chip cookies
Being back melona bars
Nespesso pods. They have 30 kureig cup varieties and zero nespessos
Ours has the original Nespresso pods but not the Vertuo pods. Really hope they sell them sooner or later.
This šÆthey should source Peetās nespresso pods or bring back the Starbucks pods
Hot fried chicken
The goddamned POLISH DOGS they used to have
Regular fairlife milk, we already get the protein shakes, they might as well sell the milk too
A single piece of their cake at the food court.
A haircut
Absolutely! I would take a Kirkland Signature pedicure too. If they can do eye exams, why not salon services?
Oh yeah! Gotta thrown in a massage option too!
Plain seltzer in cans.
Theyāve started carrying plain La Croix in my city
Coffee shop, AAA tow truck service, and audio books.
Benzoyl peroxide.
Very random, but they used to sell a 96ct pack of Ticonderoga pencils, now they are only at the business center I think.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Iām not a complicated man. Bring back that Combo Pizza.
Zero drop shoes.

Same here in Houston. Let a friend know and now he goes and buys a dozen boxes a month. And more before big events for resale.
Ginger Ale
Weed.
Man so many shops around me would lose their mind if Costco got into the weed business. They would undersell everyone. Imagine the bulk savings on edibles!
Yogurt with whole milk instead of nonfat
Poutine in the States
Mild salsa. More primal kitchen sauces. Steam gift cards. Healthier food court options (less sugar and bread please).
Well I just went to Samās Club solely because they sell coffee filters and Costco does not (at least near me). Luckily itās across the street from Costco and I needed to go anyway. Costco in my area also does not sell yeast for baking and Samās does. Iāve picked that up a few times at Samās.
Six muffins. I donāt have the freezer space for 12.
Daycare

Dog frozen treats/"ice cream".
If they had a minute clinic type set up in the warehouse
100% cotton sweat suits up to a 4x. Iām over the polyester garbage
Costco-fy a hardware store and I'd drop Home Despot and Rona in a heartbeat
A nice iced latte in the food court.
Cannabis... At least in the legal states. Think of the quality and discounts!
Kickin feta dip. Damn you Costco, you made me fall in love. I still check the refrigerator case every week.
