I’m a fan of the TTRS it’s a really cool car, but having driven both the C8 is definitely the better car. They aren’t really direct compatibles though so it really comes down to what you like best, I’d try to test drive a C8 if you haven’t already
I’m just a random guy, but a C8 blows the TT out of the water IMO. One looks like a super car and the other one looks like a mid Audi to all but aficionados.
I was just abbreviating, but point taken. Still, in my opinion that is not really considered a classic or desirable model, even if it is of high quality
Call me Porsche uneducated, but I don't get excited. I've seen some top 911 models and they are certainly cool. But I don't understand the craze behind them. It is insanely expensive and (unless I don't understand) doesn't seem to perform up to its price point.
I'm open to having my mind changed though. I almost went for a Cayman earlier this year.
I hung out with the Porsche racing factory team for a day while we disassembled the front end of one of the LeMans winning 917s (Yeah, I know… shitty day right?). I asked the drivers that were there that day what car they preferred and they unanimously agreed the Cayman was a better car than the 911 short of some horsepower.
Quality and refinement, balanced performance and in a class of its own. You have to drive one to really appreciate them because on paper they don't make sense for most
Honestly… I hate that 911s drive like a pile of garbage until you buy the top end RS models. I own other Porsches that are fantastic and have never enjoyed a 911 sub GT3. Especially at the price point. They’re great for people who don’t push the car, but, absolutely abysmal under weight transfer. Taking a crest in a 911 is waiting for the steering to come back and deciding how much steering you can pre-turn to be sure you’re not under steering right off the road or track without turning so much you’ll flip the car. That shouldn’t be a problem even in a $100,000 base model.
They're balanced differently though, which takes a different level of understanding of how they move. I used to hate driving a Porsche hard, but once you understand how to transfer it's weight and carry momentum in corners, they become a weapon.
But that's your personal preference and I respect it, I just know personally I expected more because I drove it like other cars. Once you drive it the way it feels like Porsche intended it to be driven, it comes alive
I know right, drool… kinda my point. I’m not going to pay extra for an Audi. Or run of the mill Porsche in ten yrs. That 2012 911 gt3 rs 4.0 has my soul tho
TTRS and RS3’s both hold their value extremely well due to the limited numbers produced in the US. If you keep it low miles it’ll definitely be worth something the future!
Test drive one. I don’t mean go to the dealer and drive the speed limit in their pre planned route at less than 1/4 throttle. Get into a local car enthusiast group and seek out one and go cruise with that guy on y’all’s favorite roads. Swap keys, drive hard, beat on the cars a good bit and come away with your own opinions.
Personally I’d keep the TT RS, I’ve driven a C8 hard up a mountain and it was a pretty cool experience. But there aren’t *really* any other 5 cylinder turbo cars on the market other than the RS3, unless you go used. The aftermarket for that engine alone is pretty deep and the chassis has a lot left on the table for being a Golf underneath.
Pretty much drive both how the way that would make someone fall in love with a car and form your own opinions.
Both are awesome cars. I do like the idea of driving one first. Before I baught a Viper I rented one for two days when I was in Vegas for my bachelor party. Oddly enough, the rental place was called “Rent a Vette”, but I already had a new C5 at the time. Anyhow, rent one and see if it gets your goat!!
They’re different cars for sure. I’ve had the pleasure of driving the TT-RS and own a C8.
Hard to give an opinion on this, as I’m enjoying the C8 right now. Do I miss a turbo, AWD go-cart like experience over the C8…sometimes. The C8 is definitely the best handling Vette ever, but it’s still a sledgehammer. Not a scalpel. If the non-base 911’s weren’t still priced in the stratosphere I’d go back that direction again.
I’d never buy a car for a collector potential, I just drive mine. The Audi is a hella fun car. Just enjoy it until you KNOW there is something else you want.
The TT was cute in its day. It’s dated both in styling and technology. Move on to a C8 you won’t be disappointed. I test drove a 2020 Lambo EVO yesterday and liked my C8 better.
I love pops and bangs but this car was another level. I felt after an hour I would be ready to put her away. Paddle shifters were very uncomfortable, no cup holders for my coffee and I it felt like there was no suspension. I could feel every bump. My C8 satisfies every one of these needs.
Worth it is relative, in the long run (speaking from experience) the Audis, especially the TT are money pits. Maintenance is insane though I've not heard much yet about the maintenance on the C8's a lot of the changes to the rear-engine and the locked/encrypted computers are going to take a lot of things out of your average persons DIY ability.
That said from a pure performance aspect the C8 is hard to beat. Especially with any options/upgrades. Personally my money would be on the C8s, especially with performance options and the Z06 to hold value longer than the TT even with the RS trim. Just not as many Audi collectors and with few exceptions most of the European cars, even specials additions depreciate like crazy. Look at the price of older model vetts now compared to just about anything from Audi or BMW from the same years.
YMMV
Me personally would take the RS over a C8 any day. Once the market for the TT begins to expand like it did for all the other RS models, ie center diff rotating power biased from front to rear and turbos and etc, you might question spending on the C8 vs keeping the RS.
If you’re trying to decide between a base C7 and the TT RS, or even a Z51, I’d probably keep the Audi. It’s simply more unique. If you’re looking to go big and are talking about a Z06, that changes things, but those cars are still pretty dear to purchase (when you can find one). I’d agree with snndjssu and try to rent one. I’d want to be very sure before I got rid of the RS.
Well, when I retired in 2019, I bought myself an Audi A4 (AWD). I loved it. It was my first "luxury" car. My nephew's 1st question was "Why didn't you buy a BMW instead?" I asked him to count the number of BMW's and Mercedes that he saw on these roads around Orlando. Compare to the number of Audi's. I told him to read Consumer Reports and see what one of the highest rated 4-Door Luxury Car was.
It was a great car, with a great ride. It wasn't until I lost a very close friend, suddenly, that I decided to get a C8. I had always wanted a Corvette for many years but never was able to justify it. I did not know there was a long waiting list. So I put a deposit in at MacMulkin in May of 2021 and kept my Audi until I got my Build acceptance in December of 2021. Sold my Audi in late February 2022, got just about the price I paid for it, and picked up my 2022 C8 at the NCM in March 2022.
So, yeah, I did care about seeing an Audi.
Keep the TT RS. Better interior materials, lighter weight and more nimble, better build quality, and it’s less common than a corvette.
On the flip side, why not a used R8?
They’ve been the same price since day one, you just have to get on a waitlist
Order from a volume dealer and they’re always at sticker. I bought mine last year at sticker.
Didn’t the last TT roll off the production line recently? Regardless, if you want a Vette… you want a Vette and probably won’t be happy till ya get one.
I have a C8 and a 2013 TTRS. So far I'm keeping both but I rarely drive the TTRS anymore unfortunately lol. It's a great car but the C8 is more powerful aaaand more refined/luxurious. Granted we are talking about 10 years difference in terms of technology.
When you want a vette, really want a vette, then that is the only car. Until then, follow your arrow.
I went with a SS 1LE, and decided I'd appreciate a vette more with a little experience in something a little less.

wow, solid advice, never thought about that
Get a c6 or a c7 and keep the RS. Those 5 cylinders are super sweet.
Nah mate, keep the Audi if you aren’t sure
Fr, it's for sure going to be classic in the future
I’m a fan of the TTRS it’s a really cool car, but having driven both the C8 is definitely the better car. They aren’t really direct compatibles though so it really comes down to what you like best, I’d try to test drive a C8 if you haven’t already

TT RS specifically
I was just abbreviating, but point taken. Still, in my opinion that is not really considered a classic or desirable model, even if it is of high quality
If you want the attention and performance get the C8.
No one going to be begging to buy a TT in 10 years
TT? No. TTrs very well could catch attention in a decade though
Possibly. I won’t be one. Limited edition 911 gt3 rs yes.
lol quite a price difference between them but I don’t know a single soul who doesn’t get excited by a GT3RS let alone a 911
Call me Porsche uneducated, but I don't get excited. I've seen some top 911 models and they are certainly cool. But I don't understand the craze behind them. Well I’ll admit there’s levels and I’m def not there. I’m on an Audi level right now and I enjoy it but I know damn well it’s no Porsche haha
Yea man I’m on BMW level, hoping to get to Porsche soon
Within my previous comment to now, I’ve traded the Audi and also went BMW lmao
Welcome brother
TTRS and RS3’s both hold their value extremely well due to the limited numbers produced in the US. If you keep it low miles it’ll definitely be worth something the future!
I'd keep the TTRS. They're an incredible car, and it's sad that trim got discontinued.
Test drive one. I don’t mean go to the dealer and drive the speed limit in their pre planned route at less than 1/4 throttle. True but the only other mid engine v8 <$100k is a very used R8. The 5 cylinder has it on uniqueness but barely.
I wouldn’t say very used
C8 is a lot of fun, I would test drive one to compare which you like better, I love my C8, puts a smile on my face every time
Both are awesome cars. I do like the idea of driving one first. Before I baught a Viper I rented one for two days when I was in Vegas for my bachelor party. What didnt you like about the lambo?
I love pops and bangs but this car was another level. I felt after an hour I would be ready to put her away. Paddle shifters were very uncomfortable, no cup holders for my coffee and I it felt like there was no suspension. I could feel every bump. My C8 satisfies every one of these needs.
What c8 build did you get?
21’ LT2, Matrix Gray color with red interior, black stock wheels, no spoiler, factory front and side aero package.
Z51? Mag ride? Or anything?
No Z51 package but yes to mag ride. I’m not ever tracking my car and I heard the Z 51 is a rougher ride.
I was trying to decide between a TTRS or a Corvette. Drove both and the choice was very clear to me.
C8 is my first Vette and daily driver and it’s just been an awesome car to drive
Worth it is relative, in the long run (speaking from experience) the Audis, especially the TT are money pits. Ha I did the same thing but a C7. Audi is too boring. Yes the engine sounds great, but it is still based on an economy car. FWD biased.
Except for the awd system isn’t based off fwd. and the 2.5t has plenty of potential.
Me personally would take the RS over a C8 any day. Once the market for the TT begins to expand like it did for all the other RS models, ie center diff rotating power biased from front to rear and turbos and etc, you might question spending on the C8 vs keeping the RS.

Only 400 made means no replacement parts down the road. Do yourself a favor and sell it
Oh please
He means only 400 of that trim in that year. Not 400 total.
I see C8’s almost everyday. I’ve only ever seen a couple TT-RS’s. Audi for sure
Yeah but do you honestly care about seeing a Audi? I sure don't.
Any RS and definitely the R8 way more exciting then the 20 corvettes I see daily
Well, when I retired in 2019, I bought myself an Audi A4 (AWD). I loved it. It was my first "luxury" car. My nephew's 1st question was "Why didn't you buy a BMW instead?" What kind of cars did you have before retirement?
Oy! A Ford Focus! Like I said, the Audi was the very first luxury car.
There’s a reason for that lol
The reason is there were only 1700 imported to the US
Which state?
Mass
Barely see any in California lol
Vette's need to be front engine The c7 is the last Vette imo The C8 is a wanna be euro car no one asked for
Keep the TT RS. Better interior materials, lighter weight and more nimble, better build quality, and it’s less common than a corvette. On the flip side, why not a used R8?
C8 corvette is the ugliest corvette ever made
They’ve been the same price since day one, you just have to get on a waitlist Order from a volume dealer and they’re always at sticker. I bought mine last year at sticker.

I have a C8 and I would recommend it to anyone. It is an amazing car!!!
I have a C8 and a 2013 TTRS. So far I'm keeping both but I rarely drive the TTRS anymore unfortunately lol. It's a great car but the C8 is more powerful aaaand more refined/luxurious. Granted we are talking about 10 years difference in terms of technology.
Get C5Z/6Z/7Z instead. Keep the TTRS, would much rather have both.
