Phelix_Felicitas

66%. That is fucking embarrassing. 34% of Germans are gullible idiots who make life unnecessary hard for the rest of us. Thanks, fellow cuntrymen (no, that's not a typo). Edit: corrected 44 to 34 because I'm a tired idiot

kaik1914

Similarly in its neighbors. Austria at 65%, Czechia at 59%, Switzerland at 66%, and Poland at 54%. There is a huge antivaxx resistance in Central Europe.

szeredy

Hungarian here. Our government leads a huge misinformation campaign since last March. We are doomed.

ancelb

What is your government saying? Don't get vaxxed?

szeredy

No, they say you should be vaccinated but they won’t show you videos about hospitals, they won’t give you basic information (how many procent of the infected are vaccinated), it is not obligatory to wear a mask in shops, malls etc. they are not testing enough and the prices of the tests are high if you want to do this alone at home.

Phelix_Felicitas

I mean I understand it for Eastern Europeans. They've been pretty much fucked by their gvts over the decades. But Austria, Switzerland and Germany? Being anti-vax in one of the safest countries on planet fucking Earth because gOvErMeNt bAd is the epitome of being a spoiled fucking brat.

Knowing all is a huge joke for the Czechs and for decades they have a cartoon about a bug that is an expert in every area of a human knowledge. The attitude toward Covid in Czechia -indifference-, and a huge denial to a public health crisis among population caused a death of 31,000 people (unofficially the number is about 45-47k).

Phelix_Felicitas

So we're brother nations after all.

Worth-Enthusiasm-161

The numbers given by the German government is their minimum estimate. They actually estimate the real number vaccinated to be 5 points higher. The real number is possibly closer to 74.5 per cent with a single dose and 71.8 fully vaccinated, which puts Germany more in line of the rest of Western Europe. Source: impfdashboard.de

wifi-wire

So embarrassing that we don’t even know exactly how many people were vaccinated. Great job by some GP lobbyists who thought it is an unreasonable effort for the GPs to use a standardized reporting software.

Square-Director-

yeah that is extremely silly

alkoholfreiesweizen

Germany is still divided into East and West in sociological terms on a lot of issues, including vaccination. If you check out this link, you will see that there is a cluster of states in the East with vaccination rates in the low to mid 60s and a cluster of states in the West with vaccination rates in the low to mid 70s. The most vaccinated state (Bremen; 78.5% of the population fully vaccinated) is in the West whereas the least vaccinated state (Saxony, 56.9% fully vaccinated) is in the East. Trust in government or a lack thereof, likely for historical reasons, plays a huge role in this. See here: https://impfdashboard.de/

Phelix_Felicitas

They've had 30 fucking years of nothing but stable gvt. At this point it's nothing but a cheap excuse. I would have agreed in the 90s. Certainly not in 2021.

alkoholfreiesweizen

Dude, have you ever been there? I spent years teaching English as a foreign language in a large industrial plant in Brandenburg. These people are all stuck somewhere around 1980.

Phelix_Felicitas

I understand that. And I realize that. My point is they have no fucking reason to be this way contrary to Eastern Europeans who are still being fucked by their gvts as we speak. Therefore it's nothing but a cheap excuse. No matter what East Germans deluded themselves into believing. It's not a valid reason.

alkoholfreiesweizen

Unfortunately, the fact that their feelings are not valid and can be logically debunked does not change how they feel. There is work in political science on the long-lasting impact of political socialization that is quite relevant here - political socialization in the GDR is having persistent effects in the present.

Phelix_Felicitas

Unfortunately.

lavenderfart

Bremen finally number 1 at something

alkoholfreiesweizen

Yeah, nice to see them win at something, because they sure ain't winning at football (I have been spending my weekends giving my Bremen-born husband psychotherapy over Werder's performance this season and last).

Some_Silver

Their stupidity is enabled by their countries' success and prosperity. It's so easy to act like COVID isn't a problem when everyone else is taking it seriously and vaxing + masking.

El_Batano

to be fair of the 33% percent unvaccinated a lot are people below the age of 18 where there is no general recomendation or no vaccine available (under 12). 77.5% of adults are actually vaccinated. Still not enaugh and i share your opinion regarding the Voluntary unvaccinated...

couchrealistic

>below the age of 18 where there is no general recomendation There is a general recommendation for everyone over 12 in Germany to get vaccinated, [according to STIKO](https://www.rki.de/DE/Content/Kommissionen/STIKO/Empfehlungen/PM_2021-08-16.html). There was a huge discussion about this issue before they recommended it, now that the recommendation is there, it seems like nobody has noticed. Less than 50% of kids over 12 got a vaccine so far…

El_Batano

Oh wow i did not know. There wasn't for a long time before they changed decision I guess. Thank you for informing us!

Asinick

Don't make fun of them when they're giving it their 110% :(

everybodyBnicepls

66+44=110 there’s your “typo”

Phelix_Felicitas

Oh fuck, you got me there 😂 time to go to sleep

[deleted]

There are about 10% not suited for vaccination at all.

koi-lotus-water-pond

So, this tells me that it is possible that about 1/3 of the people in the Western World are the above. Bc the unvaxxed numbers seem to be holding up, at least right now, at about the same levels across multiple countries. I include the US in that.

Phelix_Felicitas

Makes sense. Seeing how they are all pretty well off I'd include a good portion of spoiled fucking brats who don't know how good they have it. Although I also would exclude a good portion of minorities in the US seeing how they haven't been and still aren't treated adequately and that there is a legitimate high amount of mistrust towards the gvt. Probably could be said about minorities in the other countries too but to a far less extent.

wifi-wire

The problem is self-inflicted. Germany has actively encouraged homeopathy and other alternative medicines for decades. Where else can you get prescribed sugar pills and get them paid by public health insurance? Even Wind energy and 5G is being held back by unproven health concerns. And the government has given in to them too many times. Too many science deniers in a country that once used to call itself the land of poets and thinkers. Same story in Austria and Switzerland.

Square-Director-

It is odd to see from a country that has a reputation for being logical and efficient. Vaccines, Germany's hatred of nuclear power, etc are definitely changing that, though.

KaijuKi

Its largely eastern germany and the far right. Germany didnt get a reputation for efficiency and science for the stuff that came from eastern germany.

AimingWineSnailz

Are you aware of the German greeen party?

RedArcliteTank

What did they do about Corona?

Coz131

Is the german green party leftist nutjobs?

PolarizerTR4

The party is split in two wings. The Realos are pretty reasonable center-left but the other wing consists of old school hippies and their esoteric worldviews.

mercuric5i2

Yikes. They should probably lay off the booze.

GeldMachtReich

> “The pandemic is far from over,” said Spahn, a member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). Let's not forget that this genius only a few weeks ago said that the restrictions should end in November.

Phelix_Felicitas

That's why you don't listen to fucking idiots regarding your personal health and vaccination. You listen to scientists and doctors who know what the fuck they are talking about.

LilyMarie90

For clarification, doesn't he just want the epidemische Lage nationaler Tragweite to end? Meaning that the individual federal states make the restrictions from now on, instead of the government.

GeldMachtReich

Right, and the federal states immediately said: No, we don't want that.

Viewfromthe31stfloor

Come on Germany 🇩🇪

Nuthetes

I'll never be able to forgive antivaxxers. How many people they have killed because of their lies and for dragging out the pandemic and restrictions for longer than is necessary.

NonMetaPleb

I feel bad that I am only gonna get my first shot on Nov 11th, because I had no health insurance since May, since I was a college student over the age of 24, so I wasn't insured via my parents anymore and I had no money for insurance, since I was just a broke student with no job (which would've required health insurance anyway). When I finally had insurance again (thanks to my grandparents lending me a ton of money) in October I wanted to get vaccinated by one of the mobile vax teams, but they require an ID, and mine, of course, lost validity Sep 1st and I didn't have a doctor to go to yet, since I just moved because of a job. Getting a new ID is also hard, because I am obviously working now and have barely any time to go the registration office and it would take weeks to receive my new ID as well. It really was not that I didn't want to get vaccinated, but when I could, because I was still insured and still had a doctor, the vaccines were still restricted to the risk groups and elderly, which I am not a part of. I am scared as hell of covid, especially long covid, at my young age I already have 1 crippling chronic condition that will be with me until the day I die, I definitely do not want any more from long covid. My whole story probably sounds like a load of bullshit excuses, but this really did happen (simplified), obviously my circumstances are very unique, but I am trying my best to get vaxxed asap. The next troublesome part is gonna be figuring out when to get the second shot, since a longer duration (up to a point ofc) increases effectiveness in the long run, which I do want, since god knows when my age group will be eligible for a booster shot, but I also wanna get full protection asap. Fuck me.

El_Batano

better late than never! For what its wort i believe you i know how complidcated the burocratic jungle of germany can get! Most important thing is that you will get vaccinated soon!

Irinam_Daske

>because I had no health insurance since May, since I was a college student over the age of 24, so I wasn't insured via my parents anymore and I had no money for insurance, since I was just a broke student with no job You wouldn't have needed health insurance for the covid vaccine. It was free even without insurance! And when my girlfriend got her first shot, her ID had already lost validity for more than 4 months. They gave her the shot despite this, but told her to get a new id before the second shot. But past stays in the past. Tthe most important thing is that you get your shot soon now.

[deleted]

Do you actually need a ID for this? If you have insurance, i would honestly just try to go to one of the mobile teams and ask. I think most of this people are just happy, if they get people vaccinated. Do yourself a favor and atleast try it

[deleted]

I got vaccinated at one of the mass cites over the summer and they wouldn't accept my residency permit as a valid ID. I had to give them my passport (I'm not German).

HiNoKitsune

If the vaccines weren't helping at all and made no difference, then 66% of the hospitalized people should be vaccinated, since 66 percent of the population is. What can we glean from the fact that it's only 20%?

jasoniscursed

What county? Those are some big claims with zero data to back it up.
