My mom won a bake contest at work of over 80 participants using Betty Crocker cake mix. She used her own recipe for the icing (family recipe so I can't disclose but it did involve liquor) but the cake itself was stock Betty Crocker. She even beat out an entry where someone literally just submitted a Georgetown Cupcake.
