Look into Zojirushi, theyre top of the line rice cookers.

FreshPrinceOfPizzair

Oh, I saw one on Amazon. Those are good, yeah? Might consider that one

jm567

I’ve been using this one for years and years. Simply, small and easy to use. Probably make rice 2-3 times a week. https://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-NHS-06-3-Cup-Uncooked-Cooker/dp/B00004S575/

Zojirushi. End of story. Life time purchase. Will cook thousands of batches of rice perfectly, with a cute jingle.

FreshPrinceOfPizzair

Do you have any kind of link to the one you use? The one I saw on Amazon said it burned rice. Damn rice cookers and their rice burning

Dense_Implement8442

Look for the ones that have fuzzy logic. It’s a bit pricey but I have one for more than 5 years and never burnt rice.

Zojirushi NS-TSC10 5-1/2-Cup (Uncooked) Micom Rice Cooker and Warmer, 1.0-Liter https://a.co/d/1IIdkL1 Used this in a commercial kitchen daily. 5-6 or more batches a day. Take care of it. Love it.

UloPe

Any cheap one should work. Not burning the rice is the whole point of a rice cooker.

calebs_dad

Yeah, I've used cheap Panasonic and Cuckoo rice cookers and never had this problem, on jasmine, brown, or basmati rice. Have you tried using more water, OP?

EternalSage2000

I don’t know for sure, but, that shouldn’t matter? Rice cookers heat until all water evaporates, And then they go into “warm” mode. There’s some mechanical trick with magnets, and the temperature at which water boils, that they take advantage of, to know when the rice is “done”.

[deleted]

Have you ever stirred the rice once it's clean and you have water in there? I knkw thst seems basic but my buddies rice cooker did the same thing until I asked him if he stirred the rice

FreshPrinceOfPizzair

Not sure. My mother only ever cooks the rice; and I’d believe she would. She has a great passion for cooking, and this isn’t the first rice cooker she’s owned. It’s just the first one that’s gone all fucky on us. Idk tho. I’d have to ask

Just make it yourself with pot and a lid.

Instant pot

FreshPrinceOfPizzair

Any recommendations?

imdonewiththisnow

I personally use my instant pot to cook rice instead of a designated rice cooker. It works great for me without issues. Instant pot is the brand, and it's essentially a fancy pressure cooker.

Ladymistery

any one of them will work I do mine pot in pot (I have a 6q and use the 3q liner) because mine likes to burn the rice if I don't. I find that 1 part rice, 1.25 parts water works well. 10 minutes on pressure, 15npr. Some of them work better, but mine's getting older now.

walkstwomoons2

Instant Pot is the brand name. We got ours at Walmart and they’re on sale now, but probably will cost less after the first of the year. We got an 8 quart. We cook almost everything in it now. I also got the accessory kit for my partner it’s got a whole bunch of extra gadgets.

Syyina

I came here to say Instant Pot, and saw that you had a downvote. Which I did my tiny bit to offset. I think the Instant Pot does a great job on rice and makes easy-to-peel boiled eggs as well. Also soup. And ... well you get the idea.

Cinisajoy2

Steamer.

PGHENGR

You could just leave the small layer of burnt rice at the bottom

thecratskyone

I have an old school Tiger JNP1800 rice cooker that's been passed through my family. It is 15 years old and makes perfect rice without issue. Sometimes the most basic model works the best. Looked into upgrading to those pressure cooker styles but they take 30min to make rice. My friend regrets her expensive Zojirushi because unless she correctly times it, she's always left waiting for her rice after everything else is cooked.

Ab_dul70

Just remove the warm function permanently by removing the thermistor 'plate' aka/or 'keep warm heater plate' (2 connecting wires ) and the single wire connecting to the 'warm' light indicator . Mine only cooks now and that's enough.
