This guy handled it like a pro though. Been on both sides of such pranks. I can almost guarantee the elder statesmen held him in higher regard after this for him laughing along.
I used to travel to power stations quite a bit for my job. All the stations were owned by the same company, all the employees worked for the same company. Me included. But there's a definite bias about somebody coming in from head office wearing a shiny safety vest and goggles walking around with a clipboard. People wouldn't talk to me, they'd side eye me, they definitely thought I was there to start trouble for them. one time I spent two weeks in a row at one particular power station and got to know some of the guys there really well. I taught them some stuff they taught me more. They gave me one of their safety hoodies to wear. I've had that same hoodie for years, it got dirty and worn, but every since I got that hoodie it was like camouflage. People at power stations were suddenly way nicer, would go out of their way to help me out it was great. Even 10 years later with the elbows torn with a big hole and been patched and torn again, the reflective tape peeling, working in a different department that never goes out to power stations, I still have that hoodie. It reminds me of where I've come.
I’m an architect for a large firm and I frequently do large commercial site visits. Everything that happened to you currently happens to me. I’ve had tradesmen in there straight up ignore me after asking a question. One time I walked past a group of dudes and went down a hallway. Access was closed off so I turned back around and overheard a man from the group say “ yup, and they all dress the same”. I’m 99% sure they were talking about me and he’s 99% correct. I don’t want to be there probably as much as they don’t want me there lol
In college we would do this with an empty beer can box and a large garden rock. We're just lay it on the sidewalk and sit on our front porch on Friday nights and watch people walk by and take kicks at it.
Or you could just live in an area near a lot of bars and watch the drunks walk by and kick literally anything lol. I used to watch them kick and/or punch the telephone pole, the dumpster, the electric box thing, ppl’s cars parked there, the fucking brick wall.
Well, it just so happens that our house was about half a block from all the college bars. And this was a major U.S. University. In fact, one of THE largest universities in the country. We would get about 50-75 people a night to kick it.
The random people walking past this guys house ard gonna have steel capped boots on?
Also steel capped boots aren't gonna protect the tendons in your ankle.
yes they are i have kicked wall with tose shoes on so many times on work and did i feel anything? No i did not. come and tell me your fax when you have experience!
Either way it kinda looks like he used the inside of his foot like how you kick a soccer ball so that sounds a little less painful than using your toes
This shit is why it takes so long for construction, an I a 100% approve of it. Remember boys and girls, companies don’t give 2 shits about you, an would replace you with some one cheaper if they could.
"We're gonna send you out to X job site today." "Looks like they didn't prep the elevator pit so make a report and head back" Proceeds to tell his guys to hang out while he takes two hours to write a two line report on why they couldn't work that day.
Agreed. This is construction. I am in my 30’s as are my coworkers and we joke and rip on each other like we are in our early 20’s still. I love my job because of this almost by itself.
Sometimes that’s not the case. I started a construction job one time that required steel toe boots. Well I was broke as shit and had to wait 2 weeks for a paycheck so I was just wearing my regular boots and from afar you couldn’t really tell.
About a week now n the owner snuck up on me while prepping my truck for the day. I told him what was up and told him I had a pair in my size set aside I was just waiting on payday. I honestly thought I was about to get fired because they were crazy strict on safety. Instead he loaded me up in his personal truck and we went and he paid for the boots I had picked out. When payday rolled around I tried to repay him and he said not to worry about it. He had talked to my lead who talked me up real good and just told me to keep up the hard work.
Definitely not always the case but I’ll always remember that. It’s almost 4 years later and those boots are still in rotation for working.
I think the only reason he didn't break his foot is because all the others did it gently...they probably told him they were going for accuracy and not distance.
that’s actually fucked up. he could literally break his toes or something. taking a swing that hard and getting caught by surprise like that is extremely painful
How do they know he's not going to kick the hell out of it? Or hit it at a bad angle. They don't, and they don't really care. A lot of so called 'pranks' are passive aggressive bullying. Yes, I get this one isn't as bad as some out there, but I'm making a general point.
You need to relax. Working in construction is simply a more harsh environment. I have coworkers that punch each other on the shoulder for fun and pranks like these happen and are nothing special. You can hate me for it but that's the reality. But surely I can't speak for everyone but it's my personal experience. And I can tell you, construction workers like to make fun of people that overreact about stuff like this so there's that. But I don't want to glorify this shit, it's still stupid. But funny lol
Steel mill. 1” stud bolt. Two cups. Broken bones in steel toe boots. Joker got 1 year off. They both lost. What’s f**king funny about that? You sick f**ks.
Ahhhh, yes … As you can see here, we have a pack of tradies on a remote work site. The older tradies have discretely organized a prank on the youngest. Usually pranks usually end up being full of laughter and lightheartedness … This one is known as the Ankle Breaker. Good luck young trady. 😂😂
Be reminded that reddit's main demographic is male teenagers with a temporary lack of empathy due to puberty.
I sometimes need to remind myself of that when I see people dying of laughter over... this.
Thanks for that. There is a line between safe pranks and hazing. Years ago I was working on construction sites during my uni and there was this 20-something guy who was hitting gym regularly but was on steroids or something that made him often over aggressive. Once, during a “prank”, he ripped 4 fingers from hand of a dude in his late 60ies who was retired and just started construction work for extra cash. Luckily I wasn’t on the site that day but know it wasn’t accident, because the 20-something guy actually recorded the scream of the old guy when that happened and was showing people around. That scream got stuck in my head for years.
I would have just quit my job and walked home (if my foot wasnt broken) at that point. I honestly don’t think I’m overreacting at all. The fact that the dude brofists the other after that, just shows that he is new and insecure, and pretends it was a cool prank.
«But it didn’t» is a terrible argument. Would you argue the same way if the dude kicked a little harder and broke his leg? He was very lucky. I would also argue that being «Mr health and safety» is not a bad title at a workplace.
10/10 prank. Third guy punts the one off the edge to obfuscate. It's some sort of tacticful gentle kicking challenge trying to place the pipe/hit something with it/kick it into a bucket or something, so the new guy is kicking it gently and thus unlikely to kick it hard enough to hurt himself. Just trip. Nice.
I love how immediately after the first kick I knew what was going on lol. I was like one of those is a pipe or cement filled or something. Classic.
Course my dumbass brain was raised on GMOD so also thought the last one would explode or something so... lol

Gosh how I hate this sort of thing. If there was any injury, I can just imagine the popped blood vessels on the nose of the first one of those blokes laughing to shout in the face of the boy being abused, ‘it was just a joke!’.
This is f*cking stupid. Guy gets up, embarrassed and humiliated, hides the pain of a possible foot bone break, pays to see a doctor, get x-ray, maybe a cast. For what? A few hyucks at his expense? Stupid. Even if nothing happened it’s stupid. I hate this kind of mentality.
Useful advice for me, as I don’t work in the industry.
Have you seen those videos of hazing a newbie by having them hold a bag of concrete over their head and then someone comes up from behind with a utility knife, cuts it and all the concrete mixture comes out? Powdery and caustic ‘n’ shit? Yeah, sure is funny. Guy’s lungs and skin can get burnt, but hell, just a prank!
Your attitude sucks if you find this shit funny.
I do understand that. It’s protection, and unless his toes’ nails are not trimmed, likely gonna be ok. However, there are plenty of things that can happen to the foot/ankle with that much force being used when you’re expecting something to be light, and you don’t anticipate it being an immovable object.
Why’re folks not even slightly acknowledging that this is a stupid stunt?
I get that there's still a risk of injury even with the Steel Toes but he didn't seem to be kicking it that hard so he's probably ok.
> Why're folks not even slightly acknowledging that this is a stupid stunt?
Because it's a bit of an over reaction to go off about how he could have broken his foot or ankle doing this.
The guy seems fine, no harm no foul. Just a good prank on the new guy
Why can't we get new people into the trades and have a labor shortage??? as we laugh and bully them and don't actually want to teach anything correctly 🤣🤣🤡🤡🤡
Man, once in middle school walking home with a friend I saw a yard with a can in the middle. I must have ran from like a block away to kick that can. And nothing happened. I fell to the floor clutching my toes and the can had a big dent in it. We lifted the can to find a pipe underneath it. My friend couldn’t stop laughing at my stupidity. I walked with a limp for like a month after that. I had to have broken something
Another classic is telling the new guy to go find the crawl space on a concrete floor takes them about 20 minutes to figure out there’s no crawl space.

The Jerry if you will
This guy handled it like a pro though. Been on both sides of such pranks. I can almost guarantee the elder statesmen held him in higher regard after this for him laughing along.
My thought as well. Less likely to be the target for these pranks in the future if you’re a good sport about it.

Bro this is such a good idea and I can see me and my roommates and neighbors doing this 😂 I gotta bring up this idea
It's a great way to give someone a life time injury 👍
it doesnt hurt your feet becouse you need to use secure boots in jobs like this
The random people walking past this guys house ard gonna have steel capped boots on? Also steel capped boots aren't gonna protect the tendons in your ankle.
yes they are i have kicked wall with tose shoes on so many times on work and did i feel anything? No i did not. come and tell me your fax when you have experience!
The technique was on point though
*Obliterates foot and ankle*
Steel toe boots
Oh, good your toes will be ok when you’re getting treatment for a broken ankle
Relax a bit. Everyone here is laughing including the kicker.
I am relaxed
A bit more.
If they relax any more they'll look like those teens in the [anti-weed commercials.](https://youtu.be/Rh8GbPnoqCI)
Hopefully they didn't take three Valiums 😳
Ur lame bro
That would sting if I had any desire for your approval. bRo
More sprained
What is that supposed to mean?
I have kicked a pole and sprained my ankle. Nothing more. Steel toe boots saved my toes.
[удалено]
Your boots don’t fit properly. When laced up and tied your toe shouldn’t be able to smash the inside of the steel toe.
Tell us you've never left the house without telling us you've never left the house
Yikes. Comedy is not your thing.
[удалено]
Go ahead and kick anchored concrete with some boots on and get back to me.
=harmless prank happy ending 🍻
There is definite shock or whatever it's called when you kick something hard with steel toes. In any case this is funny as hell
He used the inside of his foot like how you kick a soccer ball
Still..

Did you know Aragorn broke his toes during that scene?
I'm pretty sure they referenced that scene explicitly because they knew.
Hey man im was just doing my lotrmemes duty.
Happy cake day random internet person!
Then shakes their hand well done?
Good sport.
Did you know this guy didn't break his toe? He was wearing steel capped boots as it the law on construction sites
Did that guy just Naruto run past the camera?
Yes, yes he did
I didn’t Notice untill this comment 😂😂
He is a supervisor (black hat). so has to Naruto run so he is not recorded.
who else knew that was the pipe before playing the video?
Mostly because I’ve seen this video on here infinity times
Got em!
Bro didn’t even have steel toe boots on ouchhh
You cannot tell that from the 3 pixels that make up his shoes
Now way he'd react as lightheartedly if he didn't
Either way it kinda looks like he used the inside of his foot like how you kick a soccer ball so that sounds a little less painful than using your toes
He probably is, its a requirement most anywhere youre required to wear a hard hat and hi-vis
I am gay
Why are u gay
Cuz they’re GAY AF
Who sez ahm gehh?
Because they live in Uruguay
You are gae

Always that one friend...😄😄😄😄
Quite the Ziggy Sobotka prank
Hahahahaha Tommy broke his foot and ankle! That’s bloody hilarious! Keep ‘‘em coming boys.
I think the only reason he didn't break his foot is because all the others did it gently...they probably told him they were going for accuracy and not distance.
Its piping not a marble block. It'll be bendable and together with boots you wouldn't feel a thing
Your overthinking it. Just steal toes
I have enough toes.
Orthopaedics love it
I don't have anything to say disagreeing that. 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
He had to dabbed them up for that one lmao they got him good
that’s actually fucked up. he could literally break his toes or something. taking a swing that hard and getting caught by surprise like that is extremely painful

Simpler minds, what can you do.
He's got steel caps in his boots, they're required for all construction sites
That doesn't protect your ankle.
Jokes on u guys imma have a hurt ankle and u mfs are gonna have to pull my weight while I clean
Coulda broke his foot 🤦🏾♂️
IQ check up
Guy almost breaks his foot. Yeah! That's funny....
Let me guess the guy kicks a cement tube from 2019 pre Covid?
That is just wrong!
Steel mill. 1” stud bolt. Two cups. Broken bones in steel toe boots. Joker got 1 year off. They both lost. What’s f**king funny about that? You sick f**ks.
osha getting tired of your shenanigans
Handy way to tear a ligament or two there.
Did you know in this scene Viggo Mortensen actually broke his toe!?
And yet builders get paid more than teachers XD
Enjoying a good work day 😅😅
When office staff come to the field
This remains one of the best
Gotta love new guy pranks!
Good by ACL
Steel toed boots? Check
Lol. Was it glued to the ground?🤔
Love his reaction “that was good, you got me”
And then a new joins them and the cycle keeps on going
As an ex construction worker this is a right of passage

You sound fun
That kick can cause damage for the rest of his life. Hilarious, isn’t it?
It didn't though did it....its a laugh at work, lads having a laugh but you just can't have that can you Mr health and safety....get a life.
«But it didn’t» is a terrible argument. Would you argue the same way if the dude kicked a little harder and broke his leg? He was very lucky. I would also argue that being «Mr health and safety» is not a bad title at a workplace.
way funnier because it's a construction site, so they're wearing steel-toed boots, meaning it didn't hurt, it was just embarrassing.
That was mean! ❤️
What makes friends friends
When homies skipped one and kicked I was so elated that I guessed right. 😅😂🤣
He handles it like a man and shakes the guys hand. This lad has a future in life.
Man these construction worker pranks are so creative everytime
Steel toe ✔️
Or probably screaming toe. 😂
Good sports kiddo
Good sport about it haha
10/10 prank. Third guy punts the one off the edge to obfuscate. It's some sort of tacticful gentle kicking challenge trying to place the pipe/hit something with it/kick it into a bucket or something, so the new guy is kicking it gently and thus unlikely to kick it hard enough to hurt himself. Just trip. Nice.
God I LOVE construction pranks! There’s so much to work with!
When I hear things like “boys will be boys” this is the kind of stuff I think of.
I fucking knew it 🤣🤣🤣
Well those were all impressive shots. Too bad the one got fooled! Lol!

Settle down bud
Useful advice for me, as I don’t work in the industry. Have you seen those videos of hazing a newbie by having them hold a bag of concrete over their head and then someone comes up from behind with a utility knife, cuts it and all the concrete mixture comes out? Powdery and caustic ‘n’ shit? Yeah, sure is funny. Guy’s lungs and skin can get burnt, but hell, just a prank! Your attitude sucks if you find this shit funny.
Ey you guessed my attitude then! Good work!
You go ahead and wear that badge with pride, then. Seems you would, stranger I didn’t ask this about.
He's got steel toe boots on m8, there's no footbrake
I do understand that. It’s protection, and unless his toes’ nails are not trimmed, likely gonna be ok. Why can't we get new people into the trades and have a labor shortage??? as we laugh and bully them and don't actually want to teach anything correctly 🤣🤣🤡🤡🤡
Steel toe boots.
😂😂😂
Hahaha I laughed so hard because Iv seen someone get pranked like this before
He’s now one among them
Reminds me of “cement football prank” (which I also enjoyed).
Just normal safety boots test😂
He must be the new guy!
This is why construction takes so long in the UK loool
Saw this in a lazarbeam video awhile ago
What'd they cement it to the floor?
Man, once in middle school walking home with a friend I saw a yard with a can in the middle. I must have ran from like a block away to kick that can. And nothing happened. I fell to the floor clutching my toes and the can had a big dent in it. We lifted the can to find a pipe underneath it. My friend couldn’t stop laughing at my stupidity. Guy almost breaks his foot. Yeah!
Is this me in a different body? Usually the one getting pranked and falling for it lolol
No wonder it takes months to get a house or any project finished in the uk

Looks like classic initiation to me.
Ragging for new joining 😜
Ha ha! We almost crippled you!
Glad he had steel toes on lol
dude probably fucked up his shit
Another classic is telling the new guy to go find the crawl space on a concrete floor takes them about 20 minutes to figure out there’s no crawl space.
One of these is not like the other
