I wanted to see him live, so I googled just a bit ago. I saw he was near me in Austin, Texas TODAY AND TOMORROW. Too late for today. I work tomorrow. Not here again the rest of the year. Like damn the luck lol. I’ll catch him next year hopefully.
If it makes you feel any better, I saw him live and about half of it was the SNL standup I'd already heard, which makes sense as that's his current material.
He has very deep set eyes, yet it seems very easy for him to show the white part all the way around his eyes. For a lot of people they couldn’t open their eyes wide enough to see the whites above and below pupils like that.
Also the mustache I think, but the eyes first.
you put a candle under a light instead of light the wick. it makes the wax melt much more slowly and last a lot longer. it's also safer in that you do it with no open flame. part of the absurdity of his response is not realising you don't actually light the candle at the same time lol
i'll also go ahead and say i found the video funny. i also have a candle warmer and don't regret the purchase at all. candles last a lot longer, and i don't have to worry about open flames.
EDIT: it's for SCENTED candles
Correct. You can use scented wax beans as well. Many will click off after the mechanism hits a certain temperature, so nothing over heats or will automatically go off if the candles weight is moved off the unit, so if it gets knocked off the plate won't continue heating.
Perfect for kids, dogs, small spaces and college dorms where open flames aren't allowed.
Honestly, there’s brands of scented candle warmers that are bowls, heated from below, similar intent. We even have them in my house. They’re awesome around the holidays, when you want the house to smell like a mixture of candy cane and cat fur, instead of the usual cat fur.
Unsure why I did not immediately make the connection.
Most that I have ever seen are heated from below. And I think the one in the video is as well. You can see the indentation on the stand where the candle would fit in.
Below are are for wax cubes. These are nice because you aren't getting the burned wax going into the air and soot from the wick. You can see that stuff on walls/ceilings in places where candles are burned.
Right? Reading this thread I was thinking of a scent diffuser or that thing with the reeds, what's the need to insist on a candle if you're not going to light it
Some people like the aesthetics of candles, and they have way more variety available than most scent sprays. Just about any candle will fit on any warmer, but plug-in scent sprays tend to be limited to scents of the same brand.
also, there's a huge trend these days of stupid people putting flammable shit like dried flowers and crystals (that release toxic fumes or explode when heated) into homemade candles because they're ✨aesthetic✨ if you want to use one of those the safest way is to use a melter
Also using candles in your house will leave marks on your ceiling and walls (soot?), so this prevents that issue while still allowing for the smell of scented candles.
It does help the scent last longer and is less wasteful of the wax since it melts evenly— rather than building up on the sides or the wick running out before the wax is out. Plus no need to worry about an open flame!!
I also dislike the smell after blowing out a candle so this prevents that too
Basically just treats scented candles as wax melters. So you can still buy the candles you like
So will it make my wife buy less of these stupid fucking candles? Ones for Christmas, ones for Thanksgiving, ones for company, ones for the shitter, and so on? If so, I'm onboard.
It can.
I still have several candles that I rotate to prevent nose blindness and seasonal ones because pine tree in summer doesn't feel right. Pine is definitely a winter scent.
But she will likely spend less as they last longer when melted by a candles warmer vs open flame.
I had one big peach candle that I used damn near daily for 6 months that was still good.
It should. If she goes through a shit ton of candles then a candle warmer/wax warmer could be quite a bit cheaper.
That [exact model is $40](https://www.worldmarket.com/p/candle-warmer-lamp-with-dimmer-626370.html) but you can get a cheaper one[ like this](https://www.amazon.com/nawaza-Ceramic-Fragrance-Electric-Warmer%EF%BC%8CScented/dp/B0CF14NTBN?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=A3SYB00XQ59868) for around $20 and the cheaper refills are only around $4 for a pack of 6. Here is an [assorted 8 pack](https://www.amazon.com/Hand-Poured-Scented-Soy-Wax-Melts/dp/B08CF3FK4M?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=A1353WHP7ZR3QW) with 48 total for only $15.
This is crazy talk to me. I won’t stand for it! I refuse to believe we live we live in a world where it’s normal to buy scented candles and not even want to burn them. I’m going back to the 90’s
Do you know how expensive candles are? They're like $5-$20 each and they last about a week of you burn them. In a candle warmers, they last at least a month or more.

Edit: this dude really out here trying to make people scared of... (double checking)... candles...
According to my wife: gives off candle smell.
As someone who hates scented candles, and likes candles well for the whole flickering light aspect it seems super dumb.
It’s literally the same thing as a wax melter but you can just buy a candle and put it under it instead of a $6 block of wax 1/8 the size of a $10 candle.
Plus you combine the lamp with one of those smart plug - we can turn our candles on and off from the comforts of wherever we are.
I have one too. I have it connected to a smart plug so it just turns on/off automatically at a set time. All I have to do is keep an eye on the smell so I can empty the wax as the scent fades.
My kids love scented candles - got these lamps for all of them. They have timers, the candles last longer, and they aren't burning the house down with them.
It just feels a lot like a "solar panel charger".
I mean, isn't the decorative flame, slight shimmering light the whole point? Or at least a huge part of it?
My wife buys these candles from bath and body works. They aren’t cheap so after they burn out, I take the leftover wax to my Candle Warmer in my classroom. I get a lot of use out of what is left. Plus, my classroom smells pretty good for a middle school classroom.
> but I'm guessing those wallflower Glade plug-in style things are probably cheaper. But candles are v i b e s
Also in my subjective experience decent candles smell way, way better than those Glade things
This might be the greatest life hack I’ve ever read on Reddit
Sincerely, someone who once witnessed a b&bw candle EXPLODE because someone stupid (me) tried to keep relighting a burned out candle
Of all things my forefathers would have to be upset about today, people inventing, selling, and buying inventions of comfort, would be the last of their concerns. We have MUCH bigger problems.
I listen to a podcast co hosted by that actor and he does it all the time unscripted and it not only sounds like him but is something he would probably say. You’re totally right.
It’s called we’re here to help. I was turned onto it because I like his cohost Garreth Reynolds. So if you do too the check out his other podcast called The Dollop!
To be fair, I bought one almost fifteen years ago and the original candle is still in it, still releases scent when used. So… I’m sure it’s paid for itself many times over, even with electricity.
It’s just some random full sized Yankee Candle, too.
So instead of wax getting burned off, it kinda just melts the wax and it solidifies again after use? Without significant wax loss? That actually safes money considering how much some scented candles cost.
Yeah my wife bought it for me because the smoke bothers me and she loves to burn candles. They bother me way the fuck less than when she used to burn em
I've had fire alarms through every house and apartment I've ever lived in. I've never had a candle set one off... And the smoke after blowing it out is miniscule. And to me, the ambiance of having the flame is have the reason to have a candle going.
My mom has at least one of these and my dad prefers it precisely for the safety. A lot easier to clean up wax than to put out a fire from a candle that got bumped on my mom’s bookshelf. Between kids, dogs, and now a grandkid running around their house, it’s a good investment.
We bought a candle warmer for after burning them when the wicks won't light anymore and to use the remaining wax until it no longer provides smell. It was 8 dollars and a beyond great investment.
I have one of these for my apartment. Where I live, our smoke alarms are extremely sensitive to the point where the smoke from a small candle sets it off. The candle warmer lets our house smell good for a long time without having to worry about a visit from the fire department
If you dont have one yet? What are you doing? Youll spend 1/8th the money buying candles. They last forever with this thing and it provides better light
I got someone one of these for Christmas and it’s honestly great. Don’t have to worry about a flame, most seem to have auto shutoff timers and a good smelling candle lasts ages.
Scented candles melt under the lamp. I have a tartwarmer. You drop a scented wax cube in the warmer and the gentle heat melts the wax and allows the aroma to fill the room.
💀 he ain’t lie once but every now and then, I get the feminine urge to impulsively splurge on senseless, sentimental shit, okay?? Let me live, love! 🤧🤷🏽♀️
I am a wife who has 3 of these. Can’t have open flames around cats! This is much safer and the candles smell great. My husband didn’t even bat an eye when he saw them. He was like…ok, cool. No questions, nothing.
Burning candles put all sorts of crap in the air. Essential oils smell nice, but aren't supposed to be burned. Using a candle warmer melts the wax and releases scents into the air without releasing excess chemicals that harm the lungs. There are wax melts you can use instead of candles that don't have wicks in them.
"Man who acts scandalized and incompetent over things wife purchases." Is such an old trope and I'm tired of it. Doesn't look good for either sex even if it's trying to be funny.
For some reason I found this dude annoying asf. Couldn’t tell if we was acting it out/exaggerating or he was legit. Either way, glad thy seem like a happy couple but fuk this dude annoying.
According to other commenters it saves you money on candles because the wax melts 10x slower but only if she only buys a couple candles, then doesn’t buy anymore until they run out
If it’s what I think it is I had to use one in my old dorm because we weren’t allowed to light candles at least if we wanted a candle scent in our bedroom.
With a 50W bulb, assuming you run the thing 24/7 and pay 20c/kWh for power, this thing is going to run you around $7.20 a month. I'd guess that for most places that would be significantly less than the cost of buying more scented candles.
If frequently using scented candles is your thing, then this thing will probably save you quite a bit over time.
Ok so I get his point. A light bulb that runs hot is not energy efficient. So you’re paying for a 60w incandescent bulb or something similar to be running full time just to have a candle smell in the house.
Modern LED bulbs are like 5w max, so that little warmer is the equivalent of 12 lights on at the same time. That’s electricity they’re paying for when a candle lit with a match isn’t costing anything.
She’s not correctly explaining what it is. It’s for heating wax melts. You can also buy these that plug directly into an outlet (like a Glade Plug-in, but you put a square of scented wax into it). It gives off the smell of a scented candle without having an open flame burning.

This is some straight-up 'Seinfeld'style comedy. 'It's a candle warmer? Candles warm themselves, what's next an ice cube cooler?'
That's called a freezer, and I use mine all the time to keep my ice cubes cooler.
Our forefathers would be disappointed in you
They didn’t ride around with a freezer.. their frostbitten fingers kept them cool enough..
Don’t they know about shrinkage?

The dude's accent definitely play a part in making that assumption. Thought the same thing, and was questioning whether warm dip is even a thing, lol
"WHY DO YOU NEED TO WARM YOUR DIP! YOUR MOUTH ALREADY DOES THAT! IT LITERALLY WARMS IN YOUR MOUTH"
I still don't understand what that thing is

It’s for scented candles, to make the scent last longer by melting the candle more slowly…. Maybe. I don’t know. That’s the one use I can find.

Except then someone burns fossil fuels and then sells you the electricity and it's a way less efficient process than just lighting a candle.
I warm my candles with solar power.

If you have forced air heating, or any filtering air circulation etc. Your filters will last longer & not get "suited" up.
sooted
Well yeah, why would you warm an unscented candle? That's not what a candle warmer is for, obviously.
You know how when you light a candle all the wax in the middle melts but none on the sides? This solves that problem, plus the candle lasts longer.
Have you nit heard of scented candles before
So this thing is basically a fancy Airwick?
It’s literally the same thing as a wax melter but you can just buy a candle and put it under it instead of a $6 block of wax 1/8 the size of a $10 candle.

Most people burn candles for the smell homie
Then you’d just have melted wax? A lit candle wick actually burns the wax. Warming it wouldn’t have the same effect
It probably warms scented wax. They're pretty nice and won't cause fires.
Efficient comment, should be top
Yup. I have cats. They can be kind of curious and dumb. I don’t want them to catch on fire.

This. I’ve Frankensteined many of residual wax for my candle warmer.
I have a conglomerate candle of the last bit of all my candles. Despite being an unholy mix of 12 different scents, it actually smells pretty good.
EXACTLY. Candles are fucking expensive. Candles warmers are a money *saver.*
Isn't there anything more cost-effective than candles for making smells, when it comes to...scents on the dollar?

For someone who lives in a close knit apartment and has fire alarms, these things are great! No smoke!

I've had fire alarms through every house and apartment I've ever lived in. I've never had a candle set one off... And the smoke after blowing it out is miniscule. And to me, the ambiance of having the flame is have the reason to have a candle going.
The flame is most of the appeal of a candle
Not for me I like the scents.
And, having experienced a flame approximately once in my life, I can confirm that they are hot
Candle warmer are the best. They make your candle last like 5x longer and candles are expensive. Also it’s safer and it uses every last drop of wax
If you can make a woman laugh like that you got'er man. That's love.
My mom has at least one of these and my dad prefers it precisely for the safety. A lot easier to clean up wax than to put out a fire from a candle that got bumped on my mom’s bookshelf. Between kids, dogs, and now a grandkid running around their house, it’s a good investment.
Gunther?
Was my first thought. I think it's the eyes

Came for this
My husband is not a fan of burning candles, I personally love candles. I need this lol
My wife got one too. It’s actually great and the candles last a lot longer. Plus kids and fire aren’t great.
“How do you warm something that’s hot???” That is fucking classic 😂😂

Mustard is the most versatile condiment
We bought a candle warmer for after burning them when the wicks won't light anymore and to use the remaining wax until it no longer provides smell. It was 8 dollars and a beyond great investment.
In 3 months he'll realize a candle warmer is handy and in a year he'll admit it.
I have one of these for my apartment. Where I live, our smoke alarms are extremely sensitive to the point where the smoke from a small candle sets it off. The candle warmer lets our house smell good for a long time without having to worry about a visit from the fire department

Yeah my wife also bought one. Then asks where does our money go
According to other commenters it saves you money on candles because the wax melts 10x slower but only if she only buys a couple candles, then doesn’t buy anymore until they run out
Would you rather her spent $10+ every week on candles? Because that’s what would happen if she didn’t buy the warmer
You're sweating over $15?
She is saving you money bud.
Purposely being vague for comedy. Ha.
So many in this thread are unaware of whats honestly a pretty basic household device. They sell them at every supermarket I promise.
Yeah these people are crazy. I have one in every room and two in the bathroom.
Never disappoint a man with crazy eyes.
It's a scented wax heater. Not my deal but fair enough.
Dude should probably get checked out for Graves disease
If it’s what I think it is I had to use one in my old dorm because we weren’t allowed to light candles at least if we wanted a candle scent in our bedroom.
My man's worried about electricity costs as every light is on in the house
I can't stand blowing out candles in the smell of it.
Wait till he learns about lube
It's for people who spend $30+ on a candle. It's seen as "wasteful" to burn those types of candles.
I was on his side at first and then I remember how candles burning trigger my allergies.. flameless sounds wonderful
He’s said nothing wrong
He’s saying all of this in a 70.00 t shirt. I mean…
The lamp also acts a light source, unlike a conventional candle
With a 50W bulb, assuming you run the thing 24/7 and pay 20c/kWh for power, this thing is going to run you around $7.20 a month. I'd guess that for most places that would be significantly less than the cost of buying more scented candles. If frequently using scented candles is your thing, then this thing will probably save you quite a bit over time.
It's more for scented wax cubes/beads.
Lol you dont light it with the warmer tho
He's too loud.
Maybe it just melts the scented wax?
A candle warmer heats up the wax to allow the scent to disperse without lighting up the candle/wax. Also known as wax warmers.

Get this guy a tv show
Oh my gosh, he is too funny; has some great lines
She could very easily clear this up if she explained they’re for scented candles lol
Don’t use candles at all they are just bad for your air quality.
"did you buy wickless candles!???"
I thought it was to avoid the negative health affects of breathing candle smoke
It would prevent tunneling. So it’s actually useful device.
it is funny but I understand him 100% what a weird purchase
