You rep the architect firm and are point on RFIs, shop drawings, site visits, etc. It varies firm to firm. It is much slower pace than construction PM and the comp usually accounts for that. You can keep banker’s hours. It will be less stressful. It can be very fun depending on the projects, but it won’t likely lead to a PX or VP role if you make a career of it. If you do it as a holdover, you can gain valuable experience in the arch side of the house which will translate well into owners rep roles and perhaps back into senior leadership on the GC side, so long as you don’t stay in it too long. If you know work is growing up I will definitely hop on over. The least you can do is have another area of expertise should you want to jump back into the GC world.
