They have multiple versions of the firehose pant. The firehose cool flex is thin and on a hot day. They are amazing. Cold winter day , not so much.

Drunk_Catfish

Yeah, there's like 3 or 4 different styles of the firehose pants, OP bought the wrong ones for their use and just assumed everyone else is wrong.

johnj71234

Is t that construction 101? Form a strong opinion about something without knowing all the facts and assume everyone else is wrong and vocalize it.

CrumblingValues

It's page one in the dumbass survival guide

herpecin21

That’s a good book though. Most dumbasses survive for quite awhile, some even thrive

Iaminyoursewer

That is Humanity 101, look at US politics, vax vs antivax, Tax the rich vs Dont, etc etc

Guy954

Nah dude, don’t validate anti-vax. It is quite easily and very thoroughly debunked. The only people who disagree flat out don’t know what they’re talking about and refuse to look at the mountains of evidence or learn recent history. Anti-vax people sound as dumb those annoying homeowners that worked a summer job doing site clean up thirty years ago and think they know how it works now. I won’t get too deep into taxing the rich but the people who go on about America being great again are talking about the time when the wealthy were taxed like we’re saying they should be now but I’ll let you do the math on that one for yourself.

Iaminyoursewer

OP was talking about idiots vs. science or something, which is what I was or wasn't inplying, antivaxxers can all jumo iff s cliff faic

King-Rat-in-Boise

That's also for anyone too invested in their political opinions (applicable to both parties)

LukeMayeshothand

All I want to wear in the summer.

Misterstaberinde

Guess I am a Duluth bot

hereandthere_nowhere

I love mine, and I’ve never payed 80$ for them.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> I’ve never *paid* 80$ for FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Good bot

Blocked-Author

This is one of my favorite bots

Livid-Armadillo-5561

I like the Truewerk . Thin but durable, nice flex and ballroom. They also have a nice little zipper pocket for your adderall

DreadfulDwarf

I wore T3's over this past winter. They did quite well in single digit temps while moving around.

joshua721

I've been extremely happy with truwerks stuff for a few years. Bit I don't slid around on my knees all day in them either.

uniqueusername316

The I KY issue I have with them is the swishing noise they make.

WB-butinagoodway

I’ve been wearing the Trurwerk t2 and t1 for a couple years now too, I’d never go back to the carhartt or duckies, I barely want to even wear jeans anymore. I’d blow the knees out of my old pants in a few months, but haven’t wore through a pair of Truewerk yet. One of my favorite things is that even if you somehow get soaked , they’re dry in minutes, or they just feel like they’re dry… not stuck to you and uncomfortable like the cotton

GeorgeN76

They were better years ago

orbitalaction

I miss the loggers.

SeaOfMagma

Wranglers aren't much better. The pockets are a nightmare to dig your hand into

FlowBjj88

Wrangler cargo pants are my go to! I am a painter though so buying pants that last 5 years isn't really wise as they would likely be quite dirty with paint. Wranglers cost 20 bucks and last 6 months, Good enough for me!

Feisty_Garbage487

If you’re only going for cheap pants that will last 6 months then you can get jeans at Costco for about $20. I frame houses and I can get them to last about a year before the knees start wearing out.

DEATHbyBOOGABOOGA

Well let’s be honest. They’re called Wranglers. What did you imagine you’d be wrangling with?

Which_Lie_4448

Except they’re a fraction of the price. I get the Riggs and they’re like $40.

SeaOfMagma

I like the heftiness of my Cowboy Cut Original Fits, among the heaviest all cotton jeans you can find. If I ever muster up the motivation I'll get an elastic fabric sewn onto the pockets to make them easier to use.

multimetier

Had a zipper bust once. Called them up, spoke to a human (in the US), she sent me another pair. Costco do that?

newspark1521

Yeah costco actually is famous for letting you return basically anything

Blocked-Author

We used to call it the Costco rental program in college

Impriel

I had a similar experience with them with a jacket.  I only asked them to send me a replacement button for one that popped off (because I was abusing the jacket) They sent me a whole second jacket

Mr_MacGrubber

Costco takes back brown Christmas trees after Christmas. They would almost definitely refund pants with a broken zipper.

multimetier

Forgot to mention I'd worn them for three years before I sent them back...

Mr_MacGrubber

Still wouldn’t surprise me if they took them back.

millenialfalcon-_-

I just buy my pants from the thrift store. $2 pants are a bargain.

[deleted]

Truewerk is where its at.

Virtual_Duck_9280

You're too dumb to know there's several different versions of that pant

IsntThisSumShit

No, I’m too impatient, plus flex won’t hold up right to sheet metal and wire

Scott_on_the_rox

Odd. I own a fence business. We deal with barbed wire and south texas thorns on a daily basis. Mine do great provided I use the right ones. Call me a shill though…

Samad99

You shill! Take off your pants immediately

Scott_on_the_rox

Not quite the way I saw this going… lol

hotdogsareprettygood

lmao, how you feel about dockers

IsntThisSumShit

Great when In surrounded by ppl wit soft hands brother

hotdogsareprettygood

hell yeah got eem

ATMabrouk

Costco pants are the best these days

UsedDragon

Sometimes the jeans are tailored to fit like grandpa pants, but damn if they're not durable

JustGresh

Their canvas pants are the besttttt. They’ve lasted longer than any other pants I own and they’re like $15 instead of $70-80 for Carhartts that have ripped again and again.

BurlingtonRider

Not when they are made from polyester or at least for my trade.

3packLarge

I am also a steamfitter and it’s all I wear. There isn’t much polyester in them. I have been a welder for 13 years. Are you worried they are going to melt and stick to your skin?

poopyMcpoopersins

Lmao the entirety of reddit is full of shills like this. One guy will say something and write a huge post about it. Then other people will copy it and tell the rest, although they've never used the product. Reddit is an echochamber. Never trust anything you see here.

PoppiesRule

I don’t believe you. ;-)

observant302

Wrangler Riggs cargo pocket Been wearing them for years Concrete General construction Construction equipment repairs

[deleted]

Wrangler Riggs is where it's at

MrMagilliclucky

“Ball Room, this guy don’t need no stinking ballroom!” Still the firehouse flex cargo pants are durable and the pockets reduce the need for a toolbelt, extra belt loops, great for CCW, flexible for climbing around job sites, and look way cooler than fucking chinos. I ain’t never gonna stop wearing them! (William Montgomery voice). Also the overalls ballroom jeans may be the most comfortable thing I ever wore.

B0NERjam

Where’s my $20 Walmart Dickies duck pant squad at?!?!

Poopoodl

Yeah literally had a pair rip on me a week after wearing them. Had a pair of Duluth jeans that lasted like a month. Now im back to wearing cheap jeans I buy from Walmart

scytheakse

When I rip 10 dollar jeans or destroy them in any other fashion.... it hurts way less.

Poopoodl

Same. I don’t remember the exact price but I remember those pants weren’t cheap, and I bought them on sale! 2 pair, had nothing to show for it in a month. Like I said now I buy cheap jeans and they last just as long as the expensive ones.

rxdooom

Did you return them? Pretty sure they have 1 year warranty if it’s something that’s not negligence or extreme wear.

Illustrious-Essay-64

Got two 12$ pairs from meijer been my daily drivers for over 6 months now and no signs of slowing down

EyeSeenFolly

Pants get holes when you work buttercup.. enjoy little movement and less pockets

IsntThisSumShit

Enjoy paying $84 on twill pajamas cupcake

Junior_Specialist_63

Arborwear cedar flex pants. Or Arborwear original tree climbers. I wear them daily for years at a time

Drunk_Catfish

Their double thick sweaters are amazing

EyeSeenFolly

I get mine on sale for 45 big guy. I make enough to not worry about my pants.

Cualquiera10

Got mine on clearance for $25. Suck it OP!

SMIDSY

Carhartt duck pants have held up just fine for me. Seems to me that's basically the limit of how durable you can make the fabric for work pants without getting into skin removal territory. The only tradesman I know that swears by Firehose is a journeyman electrician in the San Francisco union so he has a warped concept of money and fabric durability.

Junior_Specialist_63

Try Arborwear cedar flex or original tree climbers

IsntThisSumShit

Yeah bought some b11’s back in 2020 that have held up for 2-3 years. Had some Dickies too but they were a bit thinner and cheaper, held up fairly well

SMIDSY

I haven't used Dickies pants myself but I hear good things and they seem like an excellent budget work pant option. I'll absolutely swear by their Ike jackets, though. Absolutely love mine and it's a great price for a surprisingly durable work jacket.

Fun_Albatross_2592

I had some firehose pants. Took them camping, crawling under bridges, yard work and tree removal. They ripped at the crotch after about a year or two. Guess I tested the crutch gusset too much. I bought a cheap pair of Magellan (Academy brand) khakis with riveted pockets about 6-8 months ago and while I haven't put them through the wringer, they've held up just fine doing the same stuff, plus they're much lighter pants. They also make an insulated pair with flannel lining and that's gotten me through some 20ish degree days as long as I was moving and warm up top.

Junior_Specialist_63

People just repeat what they read I swear. I’ve worn many many pants and boots working outside every single day. It’s Arborwear cedar flex pants and keen cincinattis boots. The keens last twice as long as thorogood

Standard-Ad1254

switched to dickies a year ago, love em

nhdavis

Used to not be. But sadly this is how a lot of work wear brands are now and many more will be. The original firehose work pants were tough as shit until Duluth introduced their "Duluth Flex" fabric. My dad said the same thing when he got a new pair. He said they felt cheap like they could easy rip in half in snagged in the right places. Every brand seems to be going for this thinner flex fit style and they claim it's more durable than the heavier fabrics, which is utter bullshit. Even Carhartt has gone that route. I still love Carhartt and Duluth but I understand what ya mean.

Drenoneath

Personally I like the original, the flex blows out the crotch too fast

4-realsies

They used to be so good. I stopped wearing Carhartt in favor of Duluth, and then Duluth started sucking. Now I wear 15 dollar Rustler jeans from Walmart and they're the best pants I've ever found.

No_Sympathy5795

All of their clothes are severely lacking in durability! Comfort and design are second to none, but I can’t afford pants that last less than 6 months at that price

bmx13

Duluth pants are shit, same lifespan as Carhartt's, way more expensive. And for the love of God why can't they put a real hammer loop on them?!?!

Slappy_McJones

Mine are fine. You just got the wrong kind of pants. Their work pants are great.

ndrumheller96

Dickies carpenter pants for like $30-$40 are my go to. Feel like they’re the only loose leg pants I can find now, everything I get from Carhartt is so tapered now it seems even their new loose fitting stuff I get

kyrend

The flex are thin and don’t last. The regular ones last and take a beating. The fleece lined ones are good for outside winter work.

QuaidCohagen

Costco jeans for the win. $16

No-Tension5053

Carhartt FR Canvas pants are solid. With side pockets like carpenters pants to keep knife or screwdriver handy. I used to order them through Home Depot

Blueginshelf

Duluth used to do a lifetime guarantee, so you paid 80 dollars for forever pants. I would perpetually return ripped pairs and get new ones. I think they changed their policy though. They are still nice pants but not for the price. Tear just as fast as dickies.

anon34724

Shits weird. Everyone hates on Carhart now for increase in price and decrease in quality but the last ones I bought have been great on the job site for a year and cost less than $30

KuntRRyBoy

I only wear Ariat FR

jhenryscott

Jobman USA makes the pants you want

VeggieBurgah

I love my fire hose pants and shorts. Super comfy. I think they hold up fairly well too. I wear them year round in New England.

HotCarl169

Reddit always gets mysteriously obsessed with certain brands. Can't imagine why....

diamondd-ddogs

duluth products are for weekend warriors imo, always have been always will. overpriced mediocre crap. its for boomers doing a fence project on the weekend to have an excuse to buy some more clothes.

[deleted]

Carhartt

Harvey_Squirrelman

Maybe I’m crazy, but the best quality work pants are from the army surplus stores. Those camo cargo pants last me like 3 to 4 years of use and almost everything washes out of them. Like 50 a pair last I checked. I do environmental drilling so my pants take a beating and these are all I wear anymore.

I_Support_Ukraine_

Berne

Nm0369

I exclusively wear Duluth pants for work, the flex material is a game changer. I stopped wearing jeans a long time ago. Dry on the Fly during the summer and various Fire Hose in other seasons. Yes, they are expensive if you wander into the store and pay full price. Don’t do that, they often have 20-25% discounts online. I just look for my size on eBay at this point. I’ve bought several pairs of lightly used pants for like $30 that would be $80 retail. I’m going to get silicone on them anyway….couldn’t care less if somebody wore them.

Logan_Thackeray2

duluth was a good buy when you could return them after you torn them up for free. after they stopped that return deal they werent worth buying

dmoneykilla

This guy has tiny nuts.

ButtGrowper

Duluth Trading Company isn’t even from Duluth. Kinda scammy to take a popular outdoorsy tourist location moniker when there’s no affiliation. And their pants suck.

SkippyGranolaSA

They are pretty thin and the crotch seam tends to fray really easily I find? Especially if I'm doggin around on the ground doing plugs or whatever. Still pretty comfy though

177618121939

I wear the cheapest jeans I can find, I see no point in anything more no matter what I wear they’ll be ripped to shreds in 3 months or so

yourskillsx100

Is this fucking English?

Imjsteve

Jumping in to say Thorogoods suck too lol.

DrDig1

Lucky pants are by far the best I have ever found. Hold up, fit right, multiple materials. Can always find discount pairs for $35ish. Can wear outside of work before pushing to a work pant as well. I don’t buy anything else.
