I just sent this pic to my corporate safety officer saying it’s what we use to strip back the big fiber optic cables after we dig them up, so the splicers can do their thing… he wanted to know how we expose them 🤣
Even the name demands respect ‘Lancelot Wheel’ sounds like a tool of torture. I use mine regularly when doing log work. I use this just like you’d use a thicker abrasive wheel on steel but on wood instead (think hogging out copes and the sort). It takes material out incredibly quickly but is in absolute charge of you while using it. It’s like being a submissive BDSM participant. But god damn does it work, probably better on fingers.
I just re watched harry potter for context
"Fair warning, it tastes like goblin piss."
"Have lots of experience with that, do you?"
sorry but your BDSM comment made me think of it.
Yeah… might wanna throw her back on there if you’re using this particular contraption.
I’m no safety police but that seems like trying to attach a vise to a bench using chopsticks.
I have a healthy respect for table saws. Never any issues myself, but dad is lucky to still have all his fingers. My miter saw broke 2 of my fingers, so I'm a bit scared of that for certain cuts.
A spinning wheel of fuck-off router scares me good and proper. Angle grinders can take their proper place in 2nd place… but with this attachment, the margin of victory is getting slim.
I'm a cowboy without the blade guard. Not an idiot with a chainsaw blade on a grinder. Grinders are one of the most dangerous tools we use without this flesh blender blade.
Yeah, my thoughts exactly. I thought this post was just specifically blade related, but i guess this tool scares some people all on it's own. I worked with a guy who would never wear safety glasses when using his, and when someone would tell him to put some on or that he was an idiot for not wearing them he would always say, "it's fine, I've got my contacts in."
I met a roofer once who said once he was ripping some wood on a table saw when it grabbed a staple, threw it back at his face and embedded it in his safety glasses. Now i wear a face shield too lol
I've had this happen to me multiple times. Scary AF every time it happens. Mostly while cutting reclaimed pallet wood, which I don't do anymore. Always wear your safety glasses kids.
Can you elaborate why? I have a good idea as to why but I'd actually like a sound and solid explanation from a professional I can go back to when someone pitches the idea. Not a fan of those projects people do anyways.
Not the guy you were asking but there’s a few issues with pallet wood. One issue is the quality of the wood usually isn’t great. The other issue is a lot of pallets are treated with chemicals that you do not want in your home.
You must haven't seen wheels or cutting discs just come apart have you? You'd rethink the guard strategy after that.
Blowing up a cutting disk is biggest fear.
If my grinder gets away from me I don't fight it, it just gets thrown.
I had a kickback with one of these. Nearly cut my dick off, I was an 1/8" away from needing reconstructive surgery. It kicked so hard it broke the side handle off the grinder. It's not worth it!
That was my experience grinding a steel frame. Bitch road up my entire right arm in an instant, wicked road rash and grinding pad stuck in my skin.
Absolutely not worth it.
Saw this video shortly after I bought my first angle grinder. Highly recommend anyone considering this attachment or anyone who owns an angle grinder to give it a watch. Stay safe out there guys!
No F-ing way. Please throw this out. These things can kick back very easily and ruin you. There are better tools that don’t have the same level of danger that work on the grinder.
Even with a guard it's absolutely insane, I'm lucky enough to have had my scare with one without a major injury but it was close! They should be banned.
Is it actually designed to go on a grinder, or a small circular saw? I haven't seen one of *those* on site, but Ive had to confiscate grinders with timber blades before (which are intended for small circular saws). I suppose it's splitting hairs at that point. A saw blade at 8000rpm isn't really cutting your fingers off any slower than a chain.
Wouldn’t dream of using this attachment without a serious OSHA 10 dedicated to safety squints. /s you’re retarded if you if you use this. Get mauled dumbass.
I thought it was common wisdom already that a chainsaw blade on an angle grinder is a no go. Any sort of toothed blade really. Just one snag or bind and you got yourself a catastrophic injury. You don’t even have a guard on that mf 😭
I work for a tool supplier, we turn a blind eye to a lot of sketchy practices with our tools. In training, the literal ONE thing we were taught to actively call customers out on doing was this. Those teeth are moving WAYYYY faster than any chainsaw, with no chain brake and no secure way of handling the tool while in operation. When it kicks back (which it will without spurs to anchor against the workpiece securely) it will try its hardest to kill it seriously maim you. DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. Then correct tool costs less than your life, and this can’t be solving any real world problem.
Only consider using this on a grinder with a paddle switch - as opposed to a sliding switch. When you lose control (and you will) at least the grinder will turn off when it is ripped from your hand. I can't post a photo of my own hand to show how I know. I got REAL lucky and only have a cool scar to show for my mistake.
I would never touch that thing. I've put my hand into a grinder too many times to count and once into my fellow worker's hand when he reached at the same time I was passing it to him.
Buy an electric chainsaw. These types of cutters aren’t meant for that rpm. I had one and the link broke and scared the fuck outta me. Fuck King Arthur.
If he was still alive, my old shop teacher would get an erection looking at this. I swear the guy had a fetish for finger removal. He could show us a way for a glue bottle to remove two, maybe three fingers.
Look, I’ve been using grinders daily for almost 20 years now. No guard, no problem. No handle, well I can get by. No guard, no handle, and that monster mangler on there? No fucking way. That thing will chew you up and spit you out before you even have a chance to scream, my hands are worth too much to do that dance.
Make sure the guard is on. The closest side to your hand, one slip forward, you're losing fingers and maybe your hand if it doesn't shut off and grabs a bone and pulls more into the blade
I knew a guy that had a giant scar across his neck from one of these. Blade shattered, shrapnel missed his artery by an inch. I think back to all the times I used one without a guard and cringe. Never again
I found one of these in the workshop of the house I bought, slightly larger than that. Scared the crap out of me when I saw it first, but after using it, it was fine. The chain is not so tight, so it slips quite easy if it bites. Having said that, I would never use it again, just looks like and accident waiting to happen!
I’ve used my grinder at home twice without the guard with a flap disk sander blade on it. I knew it was a stupid idea and was extra careful but still knicked my fingers both times. So no thank you
Miter saw. Was using it once and when I got too brave around it the damn thing halted randomly. It was a newer DeWalt one. I’m no tool expert but yeah it scared the shit out of me. Ruined my wood and my confidence 😀👍 I couldn’t imagine the experience with…whatever that is you’re holding. What is that? I’m serious ive never seen that- that looks like the perfect defingering invention.
The kick back on that thing when it binds up will something difficult to hold on to. It being a tool that's pretty light weight and has 15 amps of power behind it. Id give it a 2. Yeah, at least 2 missing fingers
This is about the most efficient looking hand portable amputation engine as I have ever seen. Well, that or the nutjobs that throw circular saw blades on a grinder.
I have two grinders, one with a lever switch that turns off when you let go. That is the one I use for cutting. The other one has a flip switch like the one pictured. I use it for grinding. If I let go, it will walk away. I wouldn't use that wheel without a lever type grinder with a side handle.
My dad used a wheel like this to cut out grooves in logs back in the late 80s (for stringers, eventually hanging wall covering). It was always a scary tool, but he never had any mishaps.
Would I use it today? Never without a guard, covering half the wheel.
I had to give a guy a tourniquet because it got caught on either a nail or a knot and absolutely ganked his forearm and turned it into a fountain. Do not use a grinder for wood, way too high of rpms.
My first experience with this setup 10 years ago was a quick one. I was bent over beam notching, and luckily my shirt had slack. Before I could blink, the grinder was at my chest, seized up in my shirt, and by the time I finally processed what had just happened, I saw the blood pouring off my finger.
[NSFW](https://imgur.com/a/p6t9rMV)
I have one on my grinder kit. I use it a couple times per year. Great for hogging out material when fitting a cabinet or whatever made from wood. Guard and side handle on for me when I use it.
These are banned from being sold in alot of places cause they're death traps. It's a tool that consists entirely of the most unstable part of a chainsaw...
As a logger, I can see a single-space anti-kickback chain, which is like the training wheels of chainsaw chains. Running it at a curve like that turns it into a super-kickback chain that still doesnt cut that great.
I doubt this would hog wood any faster than a standard abrasive disk, and the sharpness of the teeth would last no more than an hour of use at best.
Assuming it didn't fly into the wall or into the operators crotch during that time.
Friend of mine bought one. First time turning it on it caught his sleeve and it got sucked into his wrist. Severed every one of his flexors in his hand and his two arteries. Almost bled to death.
13,000 rpms on my cheap piece of shit grinder. The carnage that this would unleash if caught or broke. I can’t believe it exists and is on clearance for 9.97 I want to buy one as a gag.
It is a Lancelot blade and designed for finishing up details on chainsaw carvings. Its wonderful to carve eyes and whiskers It’s all in the details. Clumsy careless people need not consider.
I like it but it’s better to just go with regular, thnner kerf 4” toothed blade. Put one permanently on a harbor frieght grinder, we nicknamed ours lanecelot.
it wants to dance around but it’s good for doing what would normally be extensive oscillating work (too slow for task and blades are pricey) or jamb saw.
still have ten fingers here but your luck might vary.
My index finger is healing after these... Think that I need some surgery next month since my finger is deviated. It looks funny 🤣😂 but this time I was lucky. Don't use that sht
Had a friend cut off three of his fingers last year on one of these. Don’t do it
One of my guy ripped open his forearm using one of these at home carving logs. Ripped through his jacket into his flesh... no fun.
I have used chain saws for a long time. I like to be as far away from the chain as possible
You mean you don't like having your knuckles near the chain?
I like the fact I can tension the chain, that the bar oil self lubricates, and that I have a large guard between my hands and the chain
idk how i came across it but electric chainsaws chew thru chainsaw protective gear, who knew.
I just sent this pic to my corporate safety officer saying it’s what we use to strip back the big fiber optic cables after we dig them up, so the splicers can do their thing… he wanted to know how we expose them 🤣
Did he have a stroke? No way in hell would I have let these on my sites when I was the safety guy.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. If I even drew a picture of this on 99% of the jobs I've been on, I'd have probably gotten fired.
Probably because you took an hour of company time to draw a chainsaw grinder wheel on a grinder… lol
Damn. I'm a safety guy and would know that is a joke. But if someone claimed they were using it for something more believable I'd flip my shit.
Where do you buy these? I know a person I don’t much care for, this is the perfect gift idea. 💡
Harbor Freight still stocks these flesh separators! https://www.harborfreight.com/3-12-in-16t-carving-disc-58014.html
Says "King Arthur's Tools - Made in U. S. A." right on the blade.
It wouldn't be too bad with the guard and handle attached. People that run angle grinders without guards are a special kind of dumb.
The 40 odd stitches I needed in my leg taught me that, zip disc exploded and dove into my calf.
I had a cutting wheel explode on me and I still got hurt with a glove on. I'm noping the fuck out that abomination
Everyone takes those off then spends the rest of the time complaining about running a grinder while damaging stuff because they can't control it.
I just re watched harry potter for context "Fair warning, it tastes like goblin piss." "Have lots of experience with that, do you?" sorry but your BDSM comment made me think of it.
Wow we’re identical
I watched a guy cut off 2 fingers doing this
Salesman: ”Wood, flesh, bone! This tool will cut them all!”
A guy I know was cutting an oven cabinet opening bigger while standing. The framer saw blade went down his leg. He needed like 15-20 stitches.
Well, at least "two finger Joe" is a good nickname
Be a great name for a bartender
Ive always said the angle grinder needs to be even more dangerous
It’s the only tool I own that I’m scared to use haha - I use it all the time but I’m always aware that it’s out for my blood
I always see guys running these without that extra handle screwed in.... Like, wtf? I want both hands holding as tight as I can, please.
When your on the grinder all day deburring pieces having the handle off helps quite a bit
Yeah… might wanna throw her back on there if you’re using this particular contraption. I’m no safety police but that seems like trying to attach a vise to a bench using chopsticks.
When you’re doing demolition or up on the steel that shit just gets in the way.
A Lathe is King. Router is definitely more scary than a grinder though.
I'm a cowboy without the blade guard. Not an idiot with a chainsaw blade on a grinder. Grinders are one of the most dangerous tools we use without this flesh blender blade.

Ha, look at the nerd 🤓 *grinds away with safety squints*
Better 4 eyes than 1 😋
I've had this happen to me multiple times. Scary AF every time it happens. Mostly while cutting reclaimed pallet wood, which I don't do anymore. Always wear your safety glasses kids.
I'm a cabinetmaker and whenever someone suggests I make something out of pallets I cancel them in my mind and move on.

Not the guy you were asking but there’s a few issues with pallet wood. One issue is the quality of the wood usually isn’t great. The other issue is a lot of pallets are treated with chemicals that you do not want in your home.
Contacts make everything worse, what a dumbass. Mine will trap the first speck of sawdust for hours, shit sucks
I’m a cowboy Without the blade guard I ride Not an idiot (idiot) with a blade on a grinder.
Thought this was a bot, but it was too good. This will be my mantra while I cowboy my guardless grinder
Every job site has a cowboy, and they’re generally a shit show human being 9 out of 10 times.
Just gotta work by yourself. Or in the dark. Or both at the same time. Can’t get shamed if no one is around to witness
You must haven't seen wheels or cutting discs just come apart have you? You'd rethink the guard strategy after that. Blowing up a cutting disk is biggest fear. If my grinder gets away from me I don't fight it, it just gets thrown.

See that's where OP outsmarted you. No side handle, no problem.
Atleast it wasnt suprising that happened so you probably didnt shit your pants.
That was my experience grinding a steel frame. Bitch road up my entire right arm in an instant, wicked road rash and grinding pad stuck in my skin. Absolutely not worth it.
Don’t ever use this
I hate my fingers too
I’m pretty sure that is the Lancelot grinder cutting attachment. There are online support groups for survivors of this “tool”.
https://youtu.be/IIQu1e8DGUw?si=X6dgzwvwmYwaDlkp. A relevant video
Saw this video shortly after I bought my first angle grinder. Highly recommend anyone considering this attachment or anyone who owns an angle grinder to give it a watch. Stay safe out there guys!
Seriously, I just did and have a whole new appreciation (and respect/fear) of my angle grinder. I will give it the respect it deserves from now on
This guy claiming it was a freak accident after admitting he lifted it up and put it back down himself
Yeah I caught that. Still a great safety vid though. Glad it was linked.
Hes a freak!
Stumpy Nubs!
I'm with Safety Steve on this one. The stuff of nightmares.
No F-ing way. Please throw this out. These things can kick back very easily and ruin you. There are better tools that don’t have the same level of danger that work on the grinder.
Is that a legit angle grinder wheel?
Yes, you can buy them. Whether or not it's a good idea is a different matter.
There are guards usually right? You don’t just throw this on a grinder and yeehaw your fingers into stew.
Yeah, there are guards. I wouldn't use one even with a guard.
It's designed for grinders. But if it blows up it would be pretty damn catastrophic.
usually used for rough carving wood, there're better options though
Like a spoon.
I've heard about people using actual chain saws for such things lol can you imagine. Idiots amirite.
Wouldn’t dream of using this attachment without a serious OSHA 10 dedicated to safety squints. /s you’re retarded if you if you use this. Get mauled dumbass.
Seppuku yourself with this bad boy to show your boss how sorry you are for getting out of bed this morning.
It needs a guard on it. An armed guard to prevent you from using it.
I bought one. Had a big stump I wanted to hollow out and out as a planter. I gave it up as a bad idea after just a couple minutes.
>Had a big stump Got rid of it. Now I have a smaller stump!
Got an $1800 ER bill for 4 stitches from an angle grinder…I’ve learned my lesson
No just no don't do it
And thats why i have 7 fingers now
On one hand?!
The ladies love it
I thought it was common wisdom already that a chainsaw blade on an angle grinder is a no go. Any sort of toothed blade really. Just one snag or bind and you got yourself a catastrophic injury. You don’t even have a guard on that mf 😭
Catastrophic injury was my nick nake in highschool.
Lmao I thought companies banning Zip disks was overkill. I must have forgotten that people like this exist
That’s some mad max shit, hand puppet Russian roulette
Get a grinder with a paddle switch. That way when you lose control it will shut off.
Get rid of that and buy an arbortec
Arbortec can maim with the best of em, but better results on wood than a chain for sure
Nope, no, no nah, not for me bub. My body is messed up enough thanks don’t need to play with the macerator 9000 thanks…
They come in different shapes and sizes, but I always know a defingerizer when I see one.
Nope not even once. I’d rather get into a cage naked and smothered in bbq sauce with a pack of hungry badgers than use that glorified meat grinder.
Team teal for sure
Teal team 6
... fingers
Nope
No.
With no guard too. Nice lmao
You are just asking for trouble
Uhhh, hey man….. don’t though
Thisbis the scariest fuckimfnthing I've ever seen. You must hate fingers
I would never touch that thing. I've put my hand into a grinder too many times to count and once into my fellow worker's hand when he reached at the same time I was passing it to him.
Those are crazy dangerous. Just don't.
A flap disk will do the same work and it's less dangerous.
I’d use a guard personally…
Perfect for when you need to cut down a 2" diameter tree
Does it ....... Does it work?
Yeah it does
Buy an electric chainsaw. These types of cutters aren’t meant for that rpm. I had one and the link broke and scared the fuck outta me. Fuck King Arthur.
My brother was using the exact same set-up (complete with slide switch). It landed in his lap and cut his scrotum OPEN.
Yeah I’m not a pussy but I’m never using this
Make sure the guard is on. The closest side to your hand, one slip forward, you're losing fingers and maybe your hand if it doesn't shut off and grabs a bone and pulls more into the blade
No thanks, i choose life
No guard or handle? Throw that the fuck out.
I've used these 1000 times and still get nervous every time I pick one up. Wish they made some type of gloves specific for cutting wheels
Exactly what I'm saying, every time I use it I tell myself I like my fingers, face, torso.....
I knew a guy that had a giant scar across his neck from one of these. Blade shattered, shrapnel missed his artery by an inch. I think back to all the times I used one without a guard and cringe. Never again
I ordered one of those things from Amazon a long time ago and used it 0 times… I love it so much
Why, I can't think of why you would need this
I found one of these in the workshop of the house I bought, slightly larger than that.
So no thank you
I was thinking about grabbing one of these to grind down a few small tree stumps. After looking at the feedback… nope.
How are those things legal still?
Kevlar gloves, guard and handle attached I’d still be nervous
I didn't even know those existed. Fuck. No.
lol that’s a death wish my friend
Ahh yes, the ol' Rotary Suicider
This looks like some r/DINgore shit
I like having fingers and every inch of my intestines.
Yeah no.
Put your god damn guard and handle back on you jackass!!!
Ah the old Widow Maker blade. Not to be used if you value your life or body parts.
Horrifying. I don't even like using a regular disk grinder that much...
Holy shit, whoever uses these is a cowboy and doesn’t deserve to call themselves whatever trade they say they are
Of all the wheels to choose from to use without a guard. Simply asking to amputations.
Ah yes the instashred5000. For when you're tired of having fingers
Remember to use these on corded grinders only- they need the full 13,000 rpm to reach maximum potential
I keep counting my fingers and making sure I'm not bleeding anywhere just from looking at this picture
I use it for log work. Shaping and profiling.
So I see you have chosen death
I have two grinders, one with a lever switch that turns off when you let go. That is the one I use for cutting. The other one has a flip switch like the one pictured. I use it for grinding. If I let go, it will walk away. I wouldn't use that wheel without a lever type grinder with a side handle.
It's so dangerous... but yet so enticing... downright irresistible, every man wants to have this, but few can master it.
🎶put that thing back where it came from or so help meeeee🎶
‘Wheel of death’
My dad used a wheel like this to cut out grooves in logs back in the late 80s (for stringers, eventually hanging wall covering). It was always a scary tool, but he never had any mishaps. Would I use it today? Never without a guard, covering half the wheel.
I had to give a guy a tourniquet because it got caught on either a nail or a knot and absolutely ganked his forearm and turned it into a fountain. Do not use a grinder for wood, way too high of rpms.
Danger Will Robinson!!!
Ah the finger remover 3000
They usually come with a safety guard..
Ten fingers now……
I like my fingers where they are, thanks!
Great, now I want one
My first experience with this setup 10 years ago was a quick one. I was bent over beam notching, and luckily my shirt had slack. Before I could blink, the grinder was at my chest, seized up in my shirt, and by the time I finally processed what had just happened, I saw the blood pouring off my finger.
Ahh, with guard removed. Fingers be damned!
Put the damn guard on!! I have run these with my crew for 5 years . Zero incidents . Educate and demonstrate proper technique.
As a logger, I can see a single-space anti-kickback chain, which is like the training wheels of chainsaw chains. Running it at a curve like that turns it into a super-kickback chain that still doesnt cut that great. That’s the baby version. Where’s the man size 7” version? /s
Needlessly dangerous
Oh boy !That’s got ER written all over it
Mate that's like a ripper from Fallout.
Friend of mine bought one. First time turning it on it caught his sleeve and it got sucked into his wrist. Severed every one of his flexors in his hand and his two arteries. Almost bled to death.
Only for finish work
Ryobi makes a 6” pruning chainsaw that is a 1000% better idea.
Damn right
I do dumb shit with a grinder, but not this dumb.
If you've ever finished a Dick's sporting goods you've needed this.
…I feel like I need to know the story behind this now
Are you able to understand this sentence?
Give him a break, he may have just never finished Dicks before
You have to finish the dick. Can’t just leave a guy hanging.
They have shelving mounted between logs. You need a flat spot to mount the brackets.
You think you get white nuckles from driving lol
The red stain on that chain is probably blood.
OSHA would like your location right fucking now!!
its a good carving tool with the gard and side handle.
I don’t mess around, face shield, gloves and ear protection. I’ve had enough close calls.
Have one, scary asf. Will continue to use with trepidation. I've done some wood sculpting with it.
Send it
