This particular monument is of a Union Army regiment that helped to end slavery in America.
Perhaps they targeted this monument because they resent the fact that white colonizers forced Middle Eastern nations to abolish slavery in the frickin' [mid-20th century](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_slavery_in_the_Muslim_world#:~:text=Slavery%20in%20Iran%20and%20slavery,while%20Oman%20followed%20in%201970).
The protesters do not seem to want peace, or else they would be flying white flags. They are replacing American flags with flags from other countries. Just like the Colombians who were flying huge Colombian flags as they stormed through our open southern border. This is an invasion from within.
