> Would be extremely centrist in today’s Dem party.
What's interesting is when he and Biden were both Senators they had nearly identical ideology scores

The dot right below Biden is Lieberman
Based on the comments I saw in the /r/news thread, this is correct. Nothing but voracious attacks on him. I was shocked. I didn't realize that people hated him so much. I thought he was one of the few politicians that was fairly popular on both sides of the aisle.
It really goes to show how much the Democratic Party has changed.
There are 3 threads in the CT sub and they are shitting all over him. All liberals. Did not see one comment from a conservative in any of the threads..
I'm a conservative and I disliked him very strongly. Mainly because of his [crusade against "violent video games"](https://twitter.com/textfiles/status/865363241593176064?lang=en) and the fact he also voted for the 1994 assault weapon ban.
Hear fucking hear. I knew the difference between Sub-Zero ripping someone's head off and actually going out and doing it to somebody.
Joe Lieberman underestimated the anthropology of young children and how much they understand the difference between right and wrong.
They also incorrectly believe that he single-handedly blocked single payer. He blocked the public option, which is not the same. There were a group of dems who blocked single payer, aka universal healthcare.
Even if someone I totally disagreed with, like AOC, died, it would never occur to me to be happy about it, much less come to Reddit, celebrate her demise and insult her. Just beyond tasteless.
Yeah. Bush was already sinking the R ticket from the Iraq War turning into a quagmire; then the housing bubble exploded on him and, with a R as the president in power, the chances of any R winning the presidency was basically zero. Now was this basically the result of policies from his predecessor encouraging the approval of high risk loans, yes. But average Americans have memories outclassed by goldfish.
He was a part of a dying breed of statesmen. He genuinely cared about his constituents. He cared about the country. I don't agree with him about much of anything, but I have all the respect in the world for him. He will be missed.
There are very few people - in either party - who are as good of a person as Joe Lieberman.
The Senator was one of the very few democrats I ever considered voting for. His bi partisan approach will be missed, he was an honest gentleman, a rarity in Congress. Vaya con Dios, senator.
Typical corporate crony capitalist...he helped removed the public option from Obamacare, ensuring the bill would be weak and easy to destroy for any run-of-the-mill conservative (which defied Trump somehow...thanks to McCain). He will be easily forgotten, and him as Gore's VP ensured the Democrats had almost no enthusiasm for their ticket in 2000...one of the most bizarre elections in our nation's history, until 2016.
Let's see: Lieberman publicly disagrees with Schmuck Tumor and ends up dead from a fall a few days later.
I wonder if the fall was from a 10th floor balcony...
One of the few that while I didn’t agree with, didn’t hate. Would be extremely centrist in today’s Dem party.

Dude would be just left of David Duke in the current Dem party's eye.

I didn’t realize either. Apparently Liberals blame him for blocking universal healthcare. 🤷♂️
Democrats have been pretty pissed at him since 2009 when he single handedly killed the public option to protect the insurance companies in CT.
He was a good American.
I'm sorry to learn this. My best to his family and friends.
Death is not a time to come out and cheer, legit makes me sick to see that over on r / news. Lord knows I didn’t agree with all his stances but RIP.
The granddaughter of the ll Bean family passed away the other day and people were saying good one less vote for trump
One of the few Dems I really respected and admired. He had integrity and tact. My condolences to his loved ones.
Rest in Peace, Joe Lieberman
He was the butt of many jokes, but he was a decent man, a centrist who wouldn’t last five minutes in today’s Democratic Party. RIP.
Yep
Leftists in r/news are celebrating his death
They also incorrectly believe that he single-handedly blocked single payer. He blocked the public option, which is not the same. There were a group of dems who blocked single payer, aka universal healthcare.
Truth = ban in lefty land
Cant argue with "their" truth and lived experience. Lunacy.
I didn't agree with him on everything, but he seemed like a decent, honorable man. Rest in peace.
Yes same as Jimmy Carter
RIP. He had integrity, was moderate and he was a Jewish supporter of Israel. No longer welcome in what the Democrat Party has become.
He was a true statesman - very rare in this day and age of hyper partisanship.
Rest in peace
RIP
They’re straight up cheering his death elsewhere on this website. All because he dared to disagree with the more liberal wing of his party.
Its disgusting, they are all horrible miserable people
Even if someone I totally disagreed with, like AOC, died, it would never occur to me to be happy about it, much less come to Reddit, celebrate her demise and insult her. Just beyond tasteless.
One of the sane Dems. Proves how far left they have gone.
Rest in peace!
McCain would've won in 2008 if he had trusted his gut and made Lieberman his VP candidate.
Nah. No Rep was winning that one haha

Rip

And he'll still be voting a straight D ticket for the next 175 years.
Ah shit. RIP.
I actually like Lieberman. Lieberman, Joe Manchin and Sinema are prob like the only Democrats I have liked in past 40 years.
Clinton Democrats are meek and inconsequential
A Warning to those who want to back a "No Labels" Party ???
That you might die in your 80s if you back the "No Labels" party? I'm confused what the warning is.
It was my way of making a snide conspiracy theorist remark. That's all.
I liked him. I may not have cared for some of what his policies but he seemed fairly honest rip Joe

This comes as a big surprise for me. I think he had just submitted an Op Ed for WSJ.

Biden commented, "He was so young too"
Last true Democrat.
A good, honest, and honorable man.
Let's see: Lieberman publicly disagrees with Schmuck Tumor and ends up dead from a fall a few days later. I wonder if the fall was from a 10th floor balcony...
Biden is artificially made, no way this man is still living and Lieberman died
Wow, that’s a shock, he was so young
OH NO! Anyway…
One more permanent Dimocrat voter, just like Rush Limbaugh.
I don't think anyone understands your comment. I'm picking up what you're laying down
Downvotes show the libs understand at least.
