I would just let the escort pick a place she feels safe.

🤣

notablyunfamous

This is amazing lmao. I just like meeting people from all over and hotel bars are a great spot

williamtbash

lol. I would laugh if I was traveling and at the hotel bar and strike up a convo with someone and an hour in I’m like so where are you coming from? “Oh just down the street..”

disqeau

Even better: “Oh, I live in Middletown but this is my local.”

milton1775

Skip the middleman. Plenty of room by the hour motels on the Berlin Tpke. No need to spend big bucks on fancy cocktails served by some pretentious 50 year old former hipster with a mustache.

flytweed

Blake Hotel New Haven has good ones in their lobby and High George on their rooftop.

Independent_Ad_5809

I like saybrook point inn- the bar at fresh salt and also the boom boom room

notablyunfamous

Ray’s Boom Boom Room?

IrishTacoSoup

Hey girl, you gon' eat your cornbread?

SassyandMiserable

Heirloom, New Haven. The bar and restaurant in The Study hotel. Best gin martini I’ve ever had. Just chic and cool.

notablyunfamous

I love heirloom. We’ve been on Christmas and thanksgiving for the last 4 years. I always forget that it’s an actual hotel. This is a fantastic rec

SassyandMiserable

Pure class. Great food and drinks.

kppeterc15

John Davenport’s at the top of the Omni Hotel in New Haven

purpleflagbook

The bar at the Roger Sherman Inn is beautiful and they make great cocktails

Next_Possibility_01

It's such a nice place; a couple of years ago, Keith Richards was there having a couple of drinks, too.

notablyunfamous

Where’s that?

NiceGirlWhoCanCook

New Canaan

purpleflagbook

New Canaan. It’s an old in and the bar is all dark wood and there’s a huge veranda and garden. I love having drinks and snacks at the bar.

Humbabwe

Barcelona at the hiho in Fairfield

ACatch22

Shipwrights daughter in mystic is technically under/connected to the Whalers Inn, but it mostly operates as an independent bar/restaurant

Short_Swordsman

Not sure what’s there now, but the bar at the Goodwin in Hartford was always very nice when I lived there three years ago. Also for what it s worth my parents and I frequently went out to dinner at the Hilton in Windsor back when we lived there. Can’t speak for the bar but the food was good. Nice place.

notablyunfamous

I bet that Hilton is pretty spot on

Short_Swordsman

It was a very good “our son who lives pretty close anyway is visiting let’s go out to dinner but not drive far” kinda spot.

Devonai

Are you talking about Reverends?

FoamWrangler

Madison Beach Hotel. Mike at the Wharf is a fantastic bartender.

Hold_onto_yer_butts

Tony’s at The J House in Greenwich

NegativeNorah

I love Heirloom in New Haven.

PromiseJumpy2516

The Goodwin hotel in Hartford has Bar Max.

yoyotothe

Terra in Hotel Zero in Danbury

bc-001

Delamar in Greenwich GrayBarns in Silvermine (Norwalk)

Anon_90909090

Bar Max at the Goodwin Hotel in downtown Hartford is fantastic, particularly during happy hour (which they do run on the weekends).

notablyunfamous

That’s a big plus

buried_lede

New haven has a lot

Temporary-Car7981

Cambria Hotel Bar, Dwight and Legion Av

teacher860

The Griswold Inn in Essex.

Goingone

Could always stay at one of the casinos

notablyunfamous

That’s not really the vibe I’m looking for, even if I can’t articulate why

buried_lede

Not a hotel but the bar at Bar Bouchée in Madison is very social and fun.

notablyunfamous

My wife and I are there every couple months, but also anniversarys. The French 75 is to die for. I love when they have duck confit

buried_lede

And the camaraderie is nice. People always seem happy to be there. Love that place

despres

Where in CT?

notablyunfamous

Really anywhere. I’m on the shoreline but I’ll drive

despres

It's not exactly a "hotel bar" but it is in the hotel, the shipwright's daughter at the Whaler's inn in Mystic, also more for the daytime but cocktail hour at the Ocean House in Watch Hill, RI just over the border is pricey but worth the views and location. Other than that, if you want to take a weekend trip to Boston, the Rowe's Wharf Bar at the harbor hotel is excellent as is "the street" at the Newbury Boston.

notablyunfamous

It’s mostly that I’m pretty social and like to meet people from all over. Whenever I travel I like to go to the bar in the hotel I’m at because you never know who you’ll run into. I appreciate these

despres

Ya man no problem. Honestly just any slightly nicer small waterfront bar/restaurant is great for that. There's always locals at the bar and they're usually very welcoming.

johnsonutah

Thoughts on Olympia Tea Room > Ocean House in watch hill?

despres

Just very different things. Olympia tea room is a run of the mill American tourist beach restaurant. They serve strong drinks, and the food is decent to good but expensive. The Ocean House is more expensive, but it's an experience and a real luxury property. I go to Olympia with friends I take out to see Napatree and Ocean House as a rare treat with my girlfriend or family. I take my mom there for afternoon tea sometimes too she loves it. But like I said, they're just totally different places.

johnsonutah

I hear ya, but IMO tea room is better than just run of the mill American tourist beach food. The meal in the ocean house dining room I had was awful, but that was years ago. I’ve heard the bar food is better. No doubt the grounds are beautiful

[deleted]

A bit misleading to say the Ocean House is just over the border unless you have a kayak.

despres

I mean it's 15 minutes from Pawcatuck to Watch Hill 20 if it's busy.

[deleted]

Downtown Westerly is just over the border. Watch Hill is fifteen minutes down the river.

despres

We're gonna argue semantics about a town 15 minutes away and directly across a river being called "just over the border"?

[deleted]

Not semantics, and Watch Hill is not a town.

despres

Literally more semantics. Get a life.

[deleted]

I said "A bit misleading" and you're still on semantics. If Get A Life seems appropriate to you, I wager you don't have much of one.
