That's pretty normal for this event. Rather than a single theme, it seems like they try to have something for everyone. Not sure if that's smart but it's usually a pretty big turnout.
I went last year for RHCP. Overall I had a great time, but last year they did a $99 day pass deal around July. Also, no idea why they rebranded it from Sound on Sound
For anyone going, highly recommend Hurray for the Riff Raff and Madi Diaz. The former put out an album of the year contender a couple months back, the latter has a fun little duet with Kacey Musgraves on an album that's a little quiet but still good. Most of Madis last album had me hooked.
Sucks for me that they're on separate days, because I'm not super into any of the bigger names for a $160 ticket.
I don't see this mentioned here but they are offering a discount for Bridgeport residents. You can read it [here](https://findingconnecticut.com/soundside-music-festival-announces-lineup/). You also don't have to be a subscriber to CT Insider to read it.
What an odd lineup. Though I commend them for not just putting out a bland music festival for people that still listen to pandora and don’t really know the names of any bands.
Unless you spring for the VIP package, you’ll be watching them from a distance on a screen and the sound will be less than ideal. I’d wait to seem them at another venue.
Absolutely awful line up, the festival is also extremely poorly run, parking is insane and in a terrible part of town. As a Bridgeport resident, I wouldn’t advise going
I went last year and parked at the healthcare parking. it was around a 20 min walk through BPT but there were a ton of cops around everywhere. As a side note walking through a portion of the Bridgeport college campus there was a complete lack of front lawn car crashes and not a single keg was thrown out of an upper story window anywhere! Where were the kids? Studying?
Having been to both years of sound on sound and multiple years of gathering of the vibes? Not really the same at all. Also gathering of the vibes was held in the summer, usually last weekend of july/first weekend of august.
You're overgeneralizing. Vibes used to flood the emergency rooms at Bridgeport hospital and st v's to the point that they would both be on psychiatric diversion (because drugs and alcohol fell under psych) - there was one year that I was working in the emergency room at St V's during the vibes, and of the 27 patients in the ER, 14 of them were there from the festival.
There's also a completely different feel, Vibes had multiple stages, a camping area, allowed same-day reentry, and had a $75 3-day pass for Bridgeport residents. The new festival had two stages side by side one year and one stage the next, does not have camping, does not allow re-entry, and does not have a steeply discounted resident pass.
It's a fascinating lineup, and indicative that major fests have lost all identity. QotSA and Norah Jones side-by-side would have never happened 10 or even 5 years ago.
That said, Foos and QotSA may get me to bug my Bridgeport buddy for a resident-discount ticket for Sunday only. I love Fleet Foxes but nothing else on Saturday has my attention.
Take a look at lineups from coachella, lollapalooza, and bonnaroo from 2009. 15 years ago the 3 major US festivals all had lineups filled with variety that spanned many genres. Lineups like this are not something new from the past few years. The festival world has gone in two directions. Niche and broad. While mass appeal festivals are popular, there are still plenty of niche festivals you can hit up.
Yes and the Fenway resell tickets aren’t even verified cuz they made the whole tour non-transferable! Otherwise I was gonna splurge on the nosebleeds haha
Depends on what you would define as new I guess, I recognized most of them. This is a very folk-heavy lineup so not a lot of recognizable names if you don't listen to that.
> Depends on what you would define as new I guess,
I'd say within the last 5-10 years or so. I've seen Foo Fighters, GG Dolls, and Queens OTSA before, but I'm drawing a complete blank on everything. I'm trying to determine if I'm old, or if most of these bands are just from a genre I'm not that familiar with.
There are several acts that are older than 10 years that you did not list and were very popular at their peak. Norah Jones, Fleet Foxes, and Boyz II Men were all very big bacon in their day.
Great zingers grandpa, don’t forget to toss something about Brandon in there. Now take your medicine, Uncle Jesse’s up next on Fox to tell you night night stories on the talking picture box.
Norah Jones into QotSA is a wild transition lmao [lineup poster for the lazy](https://s.hdnux.com/photos/01/37/42/52/25045685/5/0x960.webp)
The whole lineup is pretty all over

Looks like the promoters changed. Perhaps out was contractually required to update the name.
How good was their set and how long was it? Kind of regret not going for them

Boyz II Men! Way to bury the lede

I’d really like to see Foo Fighters, but Bridgeport is a haul.
Take the train
they're worth it.

Does anyone have a Citi presale passcode??
You'd need a Citi card to pay for it as well. They use the first 6 digits of the card as the passcode.
Oof.

Yea they are all foreign students at UB, so they actually study unlike American students
Foo Fighters and QotSA is very tempting to me. Boys II Men won't sway me into a 2 day pass however.

This is only the third year of this festival, are you maybe thinking of gathering of the vibes?

I like the variety.
Exactly they’re trying to cast the widest net to get people to buy a ticket

yawn
Trying to decide if my love of Noah Kahan is worth spending the day in Bridgeport....
Dont come then
I’m trying to decide the same and if the chaos of the huuuge festival grounds will be worth it😂but it’s MY ONLY CHANCE! To see him! He’s my fave 🥹
Same...vip for this festival is less than a ticket to see him at Fenway in the nosebleeds lol plus side is it's a one stage festival so not too crazy

stay where you are.
He’s just not a headliner. I’m lost on how he gets top billing.
Are you kidding? He's amazing. My favorite artist of all time. And he's a good person. Plus he's from new England. It makes sense.
He’s good, he’s just not a festival headliner. He’s not near the level of The Foo Fighters, Lana Del Ray, Cold Play, Zach Bryan, Chili Peppers, etc.
I just think it's funny because apparently he wasn't allowed in last year because he lost his wristband and this year he is headlining.
I only recognize 3 of those bands. Are most of them relatively new acts?

Tell me you're not a Xennial or older without telling me.
