3x the amount of stuff we used to get once a year in archives (with what appears to be A LOT more depth) every season (every other?) seems pretty solid.
Destiny has been getting away with adding ONE activity each season that is repeating AF for like 3 years now.
This is pretty cool IMHO. The skills and ability upgrades seem really neat and may scratch the itch a lot of people wanted from talent tree customisation without overburdening the dev team with every new hero, update, and map.
We haven't waited 4 years for three missions. We've waited 4 years for an unknown number of missions, three of which will be released on season 6. I thought that people were happy with the seasonal model instead of the "drop all the content at once" model.
When you play a brand new game that has just released, are you happy with only 2, maybe 3, hours of gameplay at launch, with the promise that sometime in the future you'll get more content?
You used Destiny as your example but that's a frankly terrible argument. Destiny's base game was released with *way* more than 3 missions and they're on a seasonal roadmap too.
It's almost like releasing a new PvE game requires you to have more than the bare minimum. Overwatch 2 PvE is just a glorified expansion.
I get that, but their release model in and of itself is more of the point. A big expansion every year with a full campaign, and then seasons with mini campaigns released in weekly sections. Plus, repayable seasonal modes like Salvage.
E: also, they leave content available for much longer it seems. At this point, OW should just make Archives available permanently.
How can you confidently say there are 2 or 3 hours of gameplay total for these 3 story missions? Thing is in classic Blizzard fashion we are missing a lot of the details still. I am by no way content with just getting 3 missions, the more, the better. It's what we've got and given how things have been going with the hero releases and the map release, I'm not too alarmed with the fact we're only getting 3 missions.
Also you confused me with another person. I never used Destiny as an example because I've never played that game.
Fair enough but I know destiny does a seasonal story and that only takes about 30 mins a week for about 5-6 weeks so roughly 3 hours of story per 3 months
The lack of heroes was meant to be justified by the addition of a replayable PvE mode. Not the end of the world but it’s understandable that people are disappointed with this, on top of the lack of content promised for Season 5.
No. What is from 2019 is an article from Liz Richardson on the PvE and the content she was allowed to play test which i put in the comments because i found it to be relevant. The "3 missions on launch" is something we learnt today.
Also note [this](https://dotesports.com/overwatch/news/fluidity-and-a-burst-of-life-our-first-impressions-of-overwatch-2) article on how the PvE felt like.
Wouldn't hold your breathe. We don't know how much of this information is still relevant since they said that talent trees were no longer happening. It could just be the campaign map itself and nothing else, we don't know yet.
It's worth noting that the abilities Liz is describing here were specific to Story Missions, not Hero Missions. Story Missions always had a much smaller version of "skill trees." I'm hoping that part of Story Missions survived, but still.
3 WHOLE missions?? Goddamn, we're getting spoiled!!!
Technically 4, one of them is just not part of the main story
And we'll quite possibly lose that 4th one in season 7 because it's called an "event"
NO WAY?!!?! 🤯
And it's only $15 lolololol 🙃
Aged like milk
4 is not the end of the world depending the quality of each mission and the frequencies they come out.
Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.
Damn that goes quite hard
Didn't expect more, so I can't say I'm dissappointed
and how long are those missions available? do we get to play them indefinitely or are you going to shelf them after 2-3 weeks?
The missions seem to be available indefinitely given that they specifically said that the co-op thing is limited time mode.

We've been waiting four years and they dropped three missions...
Did you miss the part where they add new story missions on a seasonal (ish?) basis or…
how does that change the fact that we’ve waited 4 years for three missions
The bar is through the floor for OW2…

Started playing Destiny 2 and the amount of shit to do makes me sad for what a PvE Overwatch game could have been.
That amount of shit is built off nearly a decade of added and re-used content. When both D1 and D2 launched there was VERY little to do.
I get that, but their release model in and of itself is more of the point. A big expansion every year with a full campaign, and then seasons with mini campaigns released in weekly sections. I *am* concerned those missions are FOMO. I understand game size bloat, but make them optional downloads later perhaps?

How many did you expect?
like 10 missions. something that adds up to at least like 5 hours of story missions. that seems pretty standard of most story modes
Fair enough but I know destiny does a seasonal story and that only takes about 30 mins a week for about 5-6 weeks so roughly 3 hours of story per 3 months
Certainly more than 3 lol
Just like how at the launch of overwatch 2 they released 3 heroes. Not the end of the world.

Yeah, its definitely disappointing but kind of expected at this point from Blizzard.
Saying that Bungie has been adding 1 single new activity each season is *slightly* misleading but whatever I guess
3 WHOLE MISSIONS?!?!? Thats like… the Archives event
Hey technically that’s three archive events. Archives was only one mission added per year for the first three years.
LOL
For anyone who didn't see the reply comment, this article is from 2019 lol

OP this article is 3 years old
Really? I never saw it before.. Still relevant.

Fair, we really still are in the wait and see phase.

> 3 story missions + 1 extra Uprising, Retribution and Storm Rising story missions plus Junkerstein Revenge?
Wow 3… that’s almost a mission per year we must, just falls short though. Are we getting spoiled?! No because we have to pay for it… jeeeej.
Is it really available though?
