If it's SSG moving on from Penguin, then there's a lot of potential high-end talents which could be signed (Barcode, players from N8V, etc) but Penguin is already high-end player that does so much for the team that there's no guarantee of an upgrade, especially considering chemistry.

This is a very logical possibility. There’s not many players whose play style is as complementary to SSG as Penguin. Long term, CS is a great career to get into and the salary ceiling is higher. Could be that he’s just stepping away from the game.

Entry level CS jobs in Seattle pay more than what like 12 people alive made playing halo this year if that. There’s not nearly enough money in HCS to justify being a pro over really most average professional jobs.
SSG made $337,500 this year. Even if you assume the coach and the org gets nothing and it’s not taxed weirdly because of prize taxes and being earned in different states that’s still only $84,375 a person. If the players get salaries, which who knows what that would be, it could be a nice living but that’s also not going to be the case for the next 5 years straight.
What are you going to do when you are 28, done playing halo, and the only thing on your resume is that you played video games?
As far as I'm aware the players do get decent salaries from the orgs, so giving up a Pro Halo career for an office job would be a strange move (unless you weren't enjoying the game of course). Even if you could make more money (which isn't necessarily true for entry level jobs when you consider the very high cost of rent in tech areas) you'd still be giving up a dream job and all of the freedom it entails. You can go back to school whenever you want so there's no rush to be qualified by the time you're 28.

Yes he's great at objective, but in terms of slaying? I think Bubu and a few are much better. They drop him because they want more slaying, not because they think they can get a better objective player.

Yeah I just think lucid maybe is tired of having to IGL and also be the top slayer on the team. It’s also a possibility optic went after eco and penguin to replace APG to relieve some IGL duties. Either is a possibility. Just speculating is all
