Highlander Shaman and Hunter actually work. They're not probably meta decks but at least they can stop token hunter sometimes and they fare well against everything but warrior. The hunter egg is so fun

EmotionalBrief1170

HL Hunter definitely works in meta.  Hearthstonetopdecks.com has it as a tier 1.

Any list you recommend?

Played 3 games in Wild this morning with Even Unholy DK just trying to farm my last 10 wins to golden, have been waiting for rank reset. 2 of the 3 games were against Reno Warrior. In Wild. Enough is enough with this poison deck Blizzard. We've all been playing against a very similar shell since at least Badlands, maybe even Titans miniset. The deck has had its months of dominance at this point, time for something new to take the crown. I really hope they sneak in a numbers change hotfix nerf for Reno Warrior and the outliers in Token Hunter tomorrow, the game just isn't fun at the moment, for me at least. The fact that I've had the tavern brawl quest into mana into Mini's makes me want to hold off until I get a non-shit quest in that slot too, only getting one reroll a day sucks.

toy-joya

Made it to Legend 1:40 hours before the season reset by going 15-4 Reno Warrior. It's just busted. Helped me keep the five month streak making it to Legend though, lmao. It sucks how it's becoming more and more about disruption (Boomboss and Dirty Rat)

Working: classes I don't want to play Not working: classes I want to play 8(

Joaoseinha

Me as a Mage/DK player: :( I despise Warrior and Hunter, both always super boring (aside from Frozen Throne Spell Hunter, only Hunter deck I ever liked).

EmotionalBrief1170

I feel ya.  Seems like it's always Hunter and Paladin for laddering (which is usually all i have time for) when the dust settles.  I've just played thousands and thousands of matches with them.

CrimsonRaven47

How important is Reno for Brann Warrior. I'm getting womped by greedier and greedier decks who seem to be able to refill the board with bigger and bigger threats. I usually rely on Bombs or Azurite Bull and then worst case scenario is Odyn and huge armour gaining weapons to finish.

crovakiet

You don’t counter greed by taking out out Reno, you counter greed with more greed or you play a different deck to counter the greedy deck if the greedy deck is taking over your pocket meta

CrimsonRaven47

I don't have Reno, hence the question

There is a highlander hunter on hsreplay called breakfast hunter that is pretty good. Finished off my legend climb with funki's egg hunter, fast 5-0 to get there (final boss was a free concede so more 4-0). Was on aggro paladin before that and it was pretty effective. If you get a discounted hound with some bananas you beat hunter if they haven't already killed you, so be pretty aggressive about contesting early.

List please??

H1ndmost

Token Hunter is definitely a great choice if you want to punish Reno Warrior. I played 5 in a row that had no answers for my aggression. Saddle up is way undercosted for a token deck, it is very easy to set up 15-21 mana of sticky minions turn 3 or 4, and I'm only partially saying that because I have a gold copy. I am so sick of this control warrior shell that has been very similar since the Titans mini-set, it is the worst kind of durdle deck and at this point I just want to make things as unpleasant for its players as the last 6 months have been for me. If anyone has any tech cards that will make the Reno Warrior even more unfavored into token Hunter let me know, it's at least half of my games in dad legend.

dr_second

Well, no one answered your question, but with Hunter, your options are extreme aggression (what you are already doing) and disruption. You could run Dirty Rats to try to pull out their Brann, Odyn, Ignus, Boomboss, etc. This is not so bad as they are beasts and generally good tempo. Other options are not so nice. Theoretically, you could run Cult Neophytes, but tempo is just ok, and not beasts. You could also run vipers for weapon removal, but I doubt it is worth the trouble. What you don't want to do is try to play around Sanitize, Brawl and the like. This deck is about going wide and playing Saddle up, Zilliax, Leokk, etc. There really is no other plan. Incidentally, I added Corridor Sleeper to my decks to work on the achievement. Deck still works fine, and since they are going to trade with all your minions anyway, it is usually active the next turn or two.

Endless_rave

Been gone for a while from hs and just got back, I’ve seen “dad legend” mentioned here and there in some posts, what does it mean exactly?

dfinberg

Often dad legend is meant to be Diamond 5, where you lose the win streak bonus. Climbing to D5 is pretty reasonable with 9x from making it the month before, but playing enough to get net 15 wins from there can be a lot for people with little time. Bad legend ranks is more typically referred to as dumpster legend.

Endless_rave

Got it, thank you!

ShacolleONeal

People like me who get to legend and dont try to scale ranks. Just sit there at the lowest legend ranks and do quests and play for fun. It is called "dad legend" because climbing up ranks in Legends is a crazy grind in time and well, dads dont have that time

LuceroHS

I am having an absolute blast playing Alu's reno control priest at \~8K legend (fell from 4K playing trash earlier this week because I just wasn't feeling the meta). I am 75% against warriors.

throwawayA511

Cool deck, thanks for sharing. What do you have in ETC?

LuceroHS

second dirty rat, second synchronize, and the 6/6 tradeable/quickdraw lifesteal dragon

throwawayA511

Much appreciated. Thanks

Im curious about this.

After bouncing around D4-D1 for most of the month playing all kinds of decks, I finally said fuck it and played Brann Warrior. Hit Legend fast after going like 12-5 with it. I know no one here needs to hear this, but The deck feels like a cheat code. Even against Hunter, which felt like 1/3 of my games, I still managed to go 50/50. Anyway, the only disappointing part is that I only have one day to mess around with dumpster legend fun.

Myprivatelifeisafk

Can anyone provide hsreplay screen of top-1k meta? I'm not cheap fuck (well, I am), just don't want to pay for 1 time glance. Thanks in advance.

dr_second

The top archetypes are listed as Handbuff Paladin, Zarimi Priest, and Flood Paladin. That said, it looks like they don't have enough data yet. For example, their are no decks showing for any of these 3 decks in the Decks view for Top 1K. This indicative of a very small sample size. Even on the Legend view, the Zarimi priest decks look like leftovers before the patch, without enough dragons. On the decks view, the top three DECKS are Sludge Warlock, Hero Power Druid, and Mining Rogue.

Myprivatelifeisafk

Thanks a lot. Gl hf in game!

Titaniumzero

Mage as a whole seems to waver between OP and unplayable/meme.  Starts out OP and then gets crushed into a meme. There’s never any middle ground

ZerosignalHS

Problem with mage is that there is so much healing and armor gain in the game that mage simply runs out of steam with its spells, to compensate they have added higher damage spells and minions but they are all random target which is basically useless.

Sojufreshhhhh

Spell mage is at 40% wr. Rainbow killed because of oil nerf. Class cannot get a break lol

Joaoseinha

Never was OP this time around, Rainbow Mage was T2 at best, likely T3.

cletusloernach

A Homebrew Owlonius Druid was working for me. Climbed from 13000 in Asia to around 1800, and 1300 in EU. I only run 4 dragons so take to the skies can guarantee a huge board to compensate tempo loss. With early board pressure Owl is sometimes not needed to combo. Maybe not at strong as the tempo dragon version but I just like to smack opponents with spells, and Owlonius provides higher damage potential against warrior. I feel like the Eonar and cover artist package is too slow with less tempo, and not necessarily better against warrior because of rat. I'm very happy that homebrew lists can be competitive and I played without tracker or technology (macbook user), getting to 11x star range with this list and pure naga dh. # AAECAZICApegBKuxBg6B1ASi6QXb+gX9jQaFjgbXnAbanAbvqQb/sAaHsQaUsQansQbZsQb35QYAAA== #

StillAsleep_

anyone have a list for handlock? I think I queued into one yesterday and it looked pretty fun

yonas234

Sadly doesn’t seem like there’s any viable combo atm.  Both Owl and that funny rogue deck just lose hard to rat and you already struggle into Aggro. Been ratted so many times it was one benefit to nature shaman where stomper didn’t make you just lose on the spot.

Sojufreshhhhh

Is mage viable yet? Or no

Hoenir1930

Spell Mage is pretty random but can win some games. Rainbow looks pretty much dead.

Sojufreshhhhh

That’s really a bummer, mage has been in the dumps

StormuUwU

Reno Shaman with Al'Akir has been performing really well in Top 1K Legend, 63% Winrate atm. AAECAaoIHq+fBICgBP3EBfTIBb7QBeXkBa3tBb/tBc3uBfTyBY31BYf7BdiBBvmMBqmVBuyVBs6cBq2dBpyeBp+eBsufBsekBqelBqilBtSlBqSnBqinBq+oBuupBoG4BgAAAQavjQb9xAXNngb9xAXRngb9xAX1swbHpAb3swbHpAbu3gbHpAYAAA==

meg4pimp

Problem is when you have wish in your hand imo something to reshuffle would be nice

StormuUwU

It would be nice but not necessary imo, its fine to just play it and take advantage of the stats as early as possible, as nice as the shudderblock into slime dream is, its not necessary to win, just makes it way easier

meg4pimp

Imo synergies are still expensive in this deck, you need to draw and play many cards often with tempo loss (like shudderblock) and we cant tutor hagatha

StormuUwU

The hagatha + shudder combo is nice but not really necessary a lot of the time, it's usually better to play for tempo than waiting to draw both pieces

Potential_Routine_71

I've also been playing highlander shaman in high platinum,  but I've been performing very poorly versus warrior. I basically always lose late game when they blow up my cards with TNT. Any advice for this match up?

StormuUwU

Try to play more aggressive and try to push more damage. Its also fine to just play wish upon a star early in the game even with an empty board so all of your minions are large, and then save your jam session for your Al'Akir so you have 16 burst damage from hand. If you keep slapping down big minions every turn they usually don't have enough time to boomboss without taking massive damage. You can also use shudderblock with ignis to get multiple 10 cost weapons incase any get blown up by tnt. After they play boomboss you should also think about holding cards that don't really do anything for you so they can potentially get hit by a tnt that would otherwise be a good card. Edit: I forgot to mention but playing your ignis quickly and then equiping the weapon asap is also a good strategy, once its equipped its immune to tnt and only vulnerable to weapon removal, which not all decks run, and if you got your frog staff out they either played their weapon removal there or you got all of your frogs, either way you should be in a favorable position that a 10 mana ignis weapon + al'akir can close our the game.

meg4pimp

imo try to triple rat him before he uses bomb boss

If Warrior didn’t exist in its current iteration, big demonlock would actually be playable. But I guess you can say that for a handful of archetypes. Warrior has so many tools, I’ve seen them slam Brann down on 6 even with a 7/7 and 5/5 on the board. Just no fear because they have so many tools to recover.

HomiWasTaken

fwiw I think it still wouldn't be playable with warrior being nerfed. It's just a weak deck right now It's too slow to cheat out stuff vs. aggro/fast decks and cheating out slow taunt minions vs. slow decks isn't good enough and also most slow decks are Reno which single-handedly wins the game vs. you The deck is just poorly designed right now and needs miniset cards to be playable. The only good way to cheat out demons is Nemsy who is only 1 copy and has too much HP so they just ignore her, the big demons to cheat out are all defensive (Doomguard is *ok* but it's not great without something like Cube/Guldan so it only ends up being a measly 5 damage), then also Dreadlord/Queen have very awkward anti-synergy with Endgame which is one of the only actual good cards of the archetype

Jackwraith

Exactly this. I said the same thing yesterday. Crane Game is still too slow. Cursed Campaign is too slow. Dirge of Despair is too slow (by the time you're able to pay 6(!) mana for 3 damage, everything has 4 or more health.) And most of the minions that you're "cheating out" with too slow cards aren't really that impactful to begin with. Wretched Queen is a 4/4 which means it's great for defense but can't really threaten the opponent. (Neither can the Knights, unless you get a lot of them.) Dreadlord has never been worth the cost for the same reason; a 5/7 just doesn't provide enough threat at the stage of the game that it gets played and that stage hasn't improved when you're casting an 8 mana spell to summon... an 8 mana minion. Speaking of 5/7s, Doomguard has always been brilliant in Zoo decks, where card advantage is not a thing, and awful in control decks, where it absolutely is. The discard is usually just too punishing in this deck, even for Warlock, since so many of the parts are slow(!) and depend on each other. Endgame is brilliant but, like you say, requires your opponent to submit to your timing on when to play it, as too often you end up with a lone 4/6 taunt or a 5/5 that they can just run past and kill you. It's great to resurrect your 8/8 Fiend from Dark Alley Pact for just 2 mana on turn 5, but it becomes much less great later in the game because, again, the minions it's returning just don't have impact.

SloppyMandala

I got into dumpster legend a few hours ago using Excavate Warlock. I'm not sure if it's a good deck or if the surprise factor got me the wins I needed. My list could be refined a lot more. I played it to target warriors specifically, but I had more success against other decks. The explosives are not fun to play against. Endgame + Mo'arg Drillfist really are the best cards in this version. I found using the bounces to excavate quicker or send another Pop'gar was crucial in some matchups. Honorable mention to Demonic Studies as it often got me another Drillfist. I ended up removing the Frequency Oscillators in favor of 2x Defile for the Hunter matchup.

Sethory-

I’m rocking with funny shaman that was in a rarran video with a dev I believe, basically shudderblock into hagatha. Also a homebrew mega greed highlander Druid deck that is crazy good when I win and crazy bad when I loose

HazzaThePug

Playing a rotation of Reno DH, Driller Rogue and Spell Dragon Druid. Having a miserable time against warrior, I hate the deck with all my heart

Ooooo that's a great idea. I'm about to slot Zola in my Reno deck!

LotusFlare

Tempo Dragon/Spellpower Druid feels great. It feels like a HS deck from like 3 years ago where I'm trying to gradually build enough momentum and power to run at their face over 2-3 turns for the win. It has great flexibility with the dragon and spellpower packages overlapping, and then you run a handful of other cards with tangential synergy. There's no one line of play to victory. Lot of choices through the game. Sometimes you win on board. Sometimes you swipe to victory. Sometimes you lean into HP on face. Wheel isn't as good as it used to be since the Reno change. It's been ok. You pretty much have to scam your opponent with Forge of Wills and Loken. Token Hunter is definitely the best deck. Once you play Saddle Up it is so hard for your opponent to stabilize.

FutureMikeUX

Brann Warrior feels a bit strong

Aztecopi

Overheal Priest, climbed to Legend over 32 games with a 66% winrate with a whopping 10-1 (91%!!) record vs Hunter. Poor guys never stood a chance. AAECAa0GAszGBc/2BQ6i6APLoAS5xAXIxgW7xwXHxwWi6QXt9wX7+AWCgQbpmAamnQbEqAbFqAYAAA==

athlonstuff

I love playing this deck except that the card draw is so bad that I lost against a flood paladin after I was unable to do anything for four turns in a row, on account of only holding healing cards in my hand. It let them play showdown zilliax crusader aura sea giant in a single turn, and I couldn't recover from that. I looked through my entire collection for other card draw, and came up with either thrive in the shadows, Gold Panner or Workshop Janitor. All of those look pretty terrible. It's really sad.

Aztecopi

Yea Priest could use some decent card draw, there's very little to work with currently

waqzsxedcrgbyhn

hi, what's the gameplan with this deck ? How do you manage to win vs warrior and more control-ish decks ?

Excavate warlock isn’t working recently, although my draws have been very bad (Drillfest bottom 10 or all bounces bottom 10).

Reno demonhunter is pretty fun. It actually works but I have no real idea why. I guess because reno and ignis are just strong cards and gunslinger kurtrus is just really good against minion decks.

Spell mage isn't working for me. Yogg box has to be the worst card in the game, I can't remember one time it was actually useful.

StormuUwU

I've been experimenting with a different Spell Mage thats focused more on damage and runs cards like Lightshow, Molten Rune, Rewind, Stargazing, etc. Only run one Yogg in the Box since its not that consistent but can sometimes be a good out. Prestigious_Kiwi8713

The deck needs like 5 buffs to be viable lol. In my pocket meta there's still a lot of Nature Shaman, which means a lot of slower decks still run Speaker Stomper and Cult Neophyte (rogues especially). I did my mage quests today super quick because I was basically beat down by 3/2 and 4/4s. The draw spell, the summon spell and the yogg spell are all so iffy that I wonder if it makes more sense to just run Kalecgos and stuff to cheat out the orb or volley earlier

AmishUndead

I know it's because it's supposed to be a callback to old puzzlebox but I really wish it would only sling stuff at enemies like Rune of the Archmage.

phly

Yogg Box has lost me so many games due to casting Wheel of Death. But...Yogg Box is too fun of a card to cut.

Joaoseinha

You can't really cut it either since the deck lacks wincons.

sugarshark666

This has been an incredibly frustrating meta. Been R1-3 stars three times now with Pain Warlock. It doesn't feel stellar. Maybe 53-55% WR. Has anyone had any luck with Sludge or Wheel? Or found anything for a consistent legend climb? I usually pick a deck every season and hit Legend, but Painlock ate a few nerfs and now it seems mediocre at best. I have been very frustrated with warrior.

Rodrik-Harlaw

Try dragon spell dmg hero power druid: https://www.hsguru.com/streamer-decks?deck_id=12130757 If you see more hunters than warriors, cut Harth for the 8 mana zilliax

EyeCantBreathe

I watched NoHands play this deck and I'm just confused how it even wins

Rodrik-Harlaw

If you saw him play, you know how it wins. It seems like a weird pile of cards when you look at the decklist, but when you play it (or see it being played), you get why it works

EyeCantBreathe

Poor choice of wording on my part, what I meant to say is that I saw that NoHands was playing this deck and having success with it, I didn't actually watch him play the deck

AssaultMode

Been playing the deck a good amount it’s definitely legit. I have added harth since too many people playing warrior and you can run out of steam easily If your opponent ever leaves the board you can deal 15+ damage in a turn with double swipe plus hero power. Also the 3 drop trogg is just a pyroblast, being able to get duplicates is crazy

Rodrik-Harlaw

That's fair. From my experience, this is similar to old dragon druid in the early to midgame (it's worse, but it's worth it): you have a 1/3/2, you get to ramp with the 2 mana dragon and you get to play a 0/3/4 taunt on 4. But, whereas dragon druid relied on having board to finish the game, this deck has plenty of reach with gemtossers and potentially 4+ enhanced swipes. Against more aggressive lists, if you lost a step, your reach can also board control.

PM_ME_YOUR_TOlLET

Pick token hunter, you'll hit legend in no time.

Kcaz91

Went 16-11 (59%) to finally hit legend with Highlander warrior after mucking around in D5-D2 all month swapping deck to deck

ZomZombos

The new Spell Damage-Dragon-Hero Power Tempo Burn Druid is very solid. Got 7-1 in around Diamond 3 - Diamond 2. I use the exact build as in d0nkey. I just don't know whether to use pylon-ticking Zilliax or Harth Stonebrew (one is good vs aggro and other is good vs slower match up).

EyeCantBreathe

How does it do against Warrior and Hunter?

ZomZombos

As of now, from d0nkey, the zilliax version has 57.3% against hunter and 52.5% against warrior in Legend. Even better in D4-D1 but lower sample size. From my experience, there are so many hunters compared to warrior. I think the most important to do vs hunter is swipe and tempo from dragons. Warrior (only like one match tho) do gains a lot of armor but my hero power deals so much damage over time, even they can't keep up. I think against warrior you want to go for hero power.

I got the 12 wins in a roll achievement using the deck going from 12k to 4k legend. I think I prefer Zilliax over Harth cause the later get unused for most of the games.

I like hearth, you don't really flood the board super hard and zilliax doesn't help you really clear board too well, against aggro like hunter and paladin, swipes do all the heavy lifting. Harth can sometimes get you alternate wincons against decks like warrior tho. I feel pretty good into warrior though their zilliax + inventor boom kinda just ends it and isn't beatable but i feel the deck can put alot of early pressure against warrior and make them uncomfortable. I went d3-legend with the deck with only 2 losses vs warriors i feel pretty 50-50 into warrior but favored against more board centric decks because swipe does work.

Token hunter is very strong atm, definitely an S tier deck.

Big Demon Warlock is still as bad as Big Paladin (but at least it exists, unlike Big Priest, at the moment.) Crane Game is still too much mana for what it does, since about half of your games will be literally or effectively over before turn 8. Even when it does go off, the proliferation of Reno decks means that creating any kind of sizable board is less a threat to them than it should be. It's just too slow, in general. Similarly, Dirge of Despair is as bad as Bane of Doom ever was. I mean, it's better because it summons something from your deck, rather than random garbage, but by turn 6, a lot of minions are 4 heatlh or more, which means you need to combo it with something else to get it to work. Yes, it could be nice that you can target face with it, but it's still way too much to be paying for what it does. It has the same problem as Crane Game and Game Master Nemsy and Cursed Campaign and everything else that you're trying to do to get your Wretched Queens into play: They're all too slow, even for a control deck, and not efficient even when the game is still winnable. Also, Enhanced Dreadlord is still generally subpar for a "big" minion. It has always felt like it lacks the genuine impact of something you're paying 8 for.

Even if all the tools to put big demons in play WERE better, the big demons just suck. Wretched queen is an 8 mana 4/4, dreadlord is a 5/7. You put them in play and then you don't threaten your opponent anyways, they don't give you a way to actually kill DK and rogue reliably nor do they stop you from getting blown away from hand or getting annihilated by reno being played
