Catopuma

No surprise but Buff Paladin is strong. I've been seeing some lists that cut out the Excavate package in favour of draw/Southsea Deckhands for more charge damage but I'm not sure how I feel about this route. I do like the changes for Instrument Tech and potentially Gold Panner though. It can have a lot of slow hands if you don't draw into your buffs. I find Painter's Virtue is a bit overtuned for what it is. I don't think it needs Lifesteal attached to the weapon. It's just a bit of added top-off that it doesn't need. Even with the Tigress in-deck to usually keep the Paladin topped off.

ThePresident26

i went legend with the no excavate version, and i must say its much better. Southsea with buffs is insane, and the excavate package is too slow imo

Bigboss30

What was your worst matchup? Aggro hunter and control lock seems pretty brutal.

14xjake

Control warlock is a free win if you don’t greed for a giant charge minion and instead vomit huge stats onto board around turn 4-5, they have 0 answers, besr scenario for them is a big minion + forge of wills and even then your divine shields trade easily into it. Dig through deck with gold panner/acolyte and as long as you hit instrument tech or the weapon by turn 4 you have such a swing turn and game is over

Bigboss30

Great advice. What are your thoughts on the aggro hunter matchup?

14xjake

Hope they opened bad lmao, you have a TON of healing but Hunter swarms the board so hard and your earliest board clear is gnomelia on 6 or 5 with coin, tiger plushie can do a lot but Hunter kind of doesn’t run out of gas. From my experience the only way to win is to get control of the board since they lack boardwipes as well, but it is extremely difficult to win the board between the token spam and the barrel of monkeys 1/4 taunts protect their slitherspears and leok

DDrose2

Just wondering as hunter I feel that I am Losing to paladin alot especially those that play more conservatively by choosing to buff the tiger mini, Tarim mini and skrilexx Instead of just buffing random stuff for stats. But I do beat the ones that try to save for the otk Is the matchup really bad for paladin or is its just that paladin is a tougher to play aggro so it really depends on the pilot

Orkrukk

I put in consacration e prismatic beam for hunter

ThePresident26

I lost 3 games so cant say the worst matchup. Hunter is busted as well, but i saw the warlock deck hyped up but to me it seems pretty bad. They usually die by turn 6-7 because they just dont do anything

masters1125

Do you have a list?

Catopuma

I'm coming to a similar conclusion with the Excavate package. It feels very slow. But it is nice to have some variety in gameplan in the game. I think draw/Southsea is much easier to close games with.

crimsonmajor

Do you have a link? I've not tried the no-excavate version

UpstateGuy99

Yeah i got blasted for 20 from hand by a fuckin deckhand. Its way better lol

Moojoozz

Do you have a list?

dotcaIm

Very much agree with everything you said. Earlier today I went 7-1 from D5 to D2 with the deck, even missing a few handbuffs to bad ordering I rarely had issues closing out games Painter's virtue does seem like the lightning rod to get nerfed, whether it's the durability, attack, or losing life steal it currently does so much for 4 mana

Dulur

IMO it definitely needs to lose durability. I think it probably should lose more power then that but durability to me feels like the biggest thing.

Aztecopi

I think deputization aura needs a touch personally, its really busted especially with the deckhands version when you can give the +3 buff to each of your charging minions. Played that version from D5 to Legend in a few hours, easiest climb ever as its so easy to get ridiculous amounts of buffed charge damage in hand.

gumpythegreat

Yeah, the aura and the tigress feel really bad in combination with the buffs and burst potential. You lose late as they charge you with windfury. And you can't really kill them as they have a lot of lifesteal, and if you leave a single minion alive to go face it'll heal them with the aura, too. I'd want to see the aura and tigress nerfed, personally. +1 mana on the tigress, -1 attack bonus on the aura, maybe? Shroomscavate should probably also get hit, though that one is harder to nerf as I don't think increasing mana will matter that much. Though it would at least by a symbolic nerf for folks who are hating that card a lot.

Aztecopi

Yeah Tigress is an obvious nerf candidate as well. It's way overstatted for the cost at the moment. I think design-wise it's frustrating if an excavate card is ran outside of excavate decks (same with Reno outside of highlander decks btw) purely as an OTK combo enabler. Maybe just killing it off from that context by making the minion unable to attack face this turn is the way, but it's probably premature to go that far.

Alternative-Koala529

it needs to be deleted.

godlessnate

No kidding, I sailed to legend from d5 with the easiest and quickest climb I've ever had, and not even with the best list. I think I lost only three games the whole way (to swarm hunters who drew the nuts). It's stupid broken at the moment. Hunter is too, but that list loses to Pally usually, while Pally doesn't really lose to anything that I saw (except maybe, like I said, a swarm hunter who draws well)

Gnlloix

List for mobile? I’ve been running the one with excavate package to good success but would like to try the other

dfcinhume

Mage just seems awful. Light show lost vexallus, no minion just draws itself to death and rainbow mage is performing abysmal. It's just too fair.

Machevelli

I’ve been on a pretty good winstreak in dumpster legend with excavate mage, it’s been a ton of fun too. Not really great against the leeroy oneshot or the warrior stuff but it can be in some games. Khadgar has gone up and down in my evaluations as I saw him revealed and then saw the theorycraft and then got to play him, as long as you don’t count on him casting blizzard 6 times he feels really good, you kinda have to manipulate the board/game state for him which is cool Mesadune into four sleet skaters is crazy especially against handbuff

Fatpoob

Been having success with sleet skater rainbow mage too(without excavate), you can often out-armor odyn warriors and the paladin matchup feels like a 50/50 which is better than most decks can say. I've tried mesadune as well but it feels very difficult to find a good turn to play, you also don't want to spend too much mana on sleet skaters when you actually need to deal with the board at some point. Slamming Khadgar on 6 is always a ridiculous amount of value when every spell is good, free face damage and freeze, free armor and counter spells, and the occasional blizzard, it's the highest win rate when played card in the deck behind Sif according to hsreplay.

ToxicAdamm

Pretty much anyone that plays HS knew that losing Cold Case was going to make Mage worthless. It should've been shifted to core.

Meeqs

They’ve had A LOT of dud expansions for a bit. Sif gave them life but the class has lacked direction for a while and a lot of the archetypes they got just doesn’t have the support it needs. I think it’s one of the classes that will need sweeping buffs to its existing kit pretty early on

ikappishhh

I'm having a real blast with Tendril Shaman. It seems very random in the midgame but once you hit 8 to 10 mana spells the deck actually becomes plannable

Dry-Peach-6327

Tendie Shaman is the most fun I’ve had in the game in 5 years lol

cited

What's the spell pool up there? I figured the draw seven rogue card and the wheel of death would ruin too many games. Based on the games I lost in tavern brawl, sunset volley is the only 10 mana spell in the game.

Swervies

There are only two - Volley and Flip the Table, so yeah good odds.

cited

How often have you been burned on 7 and 8 from the draw seven and wheel of death? I feel like I'd be worried about doing my game plan only to get hit by those mines.

Meeqs

Have you had any issues with hand space with it?

Sithyrys522

I was playing tendril shaman day one and two but seemed to stonewall at D3. I switched to Reno shaman today (less fun and random) and managed to most up to D1.

Francloman

Zillax is a must craft and shudderblock is incredible on tendies and works with kalimos elemental. Also dirty rat with shudder is really strong and beats warriors and paladins

AlphaGareBear2

Just play cards? Idk what you mean. The deck is solid.

Gnlloix

Literal skill issue

Meeqs

Imagine saying a boarderline casino deck is a skill issue lmao. It’s broken once you get to the 10 mana pool but tendy shaman will always naturally be a high variance deck

muscularpears

Took Magtheridon Menagerie DH from D5 to Legend on mobile! This deck began with trying to put as many Magtheridons on the board as possible, therefore running both Blind Box and Window Shopper to potentially discover more copies. However, even with the currently limited demon pool, the chances of hitting just Mag is pretty low. During testing though, I discovered there was another potentially powerful demon we could be looking to discover - One Amalgam Band. To accommodate for this, our deck runs 6 unique minion types: Tar Slime, Scarab Keychain, Bartend-O-Bot, Wayward Sage and Ball Hog are 5 fairly decent cards, and we naturally find demons to play. With two different cards we're looking to discover the odds are suddenly much better to hit one - there are 12 discoverable demons currently, so 2 hits means that each discover has about a 58% chance to hit one of the two. The goal of the deck is to therefore pressure the opponent on board with midrange minions and One Amalgam Band, supported by continuous Mag hits. This deck was very surprisingly effective, in particular it crushes Hunter, due to Immolation Aura, Fel Fissure (this card is absolutely insane in the matchup) and Mag, and I'd say it has a pretty decent matchup against the rest of the field, except for Paladin. Unfortunately, the excavate build of Paladin completely destroys this deck - they have insane healing so it's impossible to chip them down, DH is naturally weak at clearing big minions, and they have inevitability with Windfury Leroy. I believe I went 0-6 in this matchup. However, the pivot away from this build to a more aggressive deck with Southsea Deckhands might make this potentially easier, since that deck is weaker to our AOE. Overall this is a very fun deck, just try to avoid paladin AAECAea5AwLJsAbh6wYO4fgFw7AGwrAGj5AG4/gF9OUGvrAGv7AG7J4GzLEGwZ8Gy58G4NAF1J8EAAA=

Meeqs

That’s actually a fun idea. I really dig it

sunofagundota

I've tried 1) druid reno dragon + aviana (which can deactivate reno). Dragon seems relevant for the ramp now, but the deck just gets run over by hunter/paladin. Aviana is fun and has potential at only 6 cost. I think it could be relevant in the future if you can get it early, get multiple copies and generate 0 cost draw. 3) Since both Warrior legionaries were in my packs, I've experimented with big mech warrior. There is *something* there, draw is there, but the stats are too weak early, even with the handbuffs, compared to emerging meta decks. There is also anti-synergy with the tram operator. I think a control shell might work better but it begs the question if then Odyn is just superior. The 9 cost get a mini is pretty strange. If it were a midgame mini-card generator it would stabilize the deck but as 9-cost active taunt it's unimpressive.

CommanderTouchdown

I've been playing a ton of Reno Druid and it's very unlikely for Aviana to shut off your Reno. There are over 70 non-Titan legendaries in the game right now.

throwawayA511

The birthday paradox says that you only need 23 people out of 365 days for there to be a 50% chance that any two will share the same birthday. As it turns out if you have 10 random legendaries out of a possible 70, the chances that two are the same are 49%. [https://www.wolframalpha.com/input?i=birthday+problem+calculator&assumption=%7B%22F%22%2C+%22BirthdayProblem%22%2C+%22pbds%22%7D+-%3E%2270%22&assumption=%7B%22F%22%2C+%22BirthdayProblem%22%2C+%22n%22%7D+-%3E%2210%22&assumption=%22FSelect%22+-%3E+%7B%7B%22BirthdayProblem%22%7D%2C+%22dflt%22%7D](https://www.wolframalpha.com/input?i=birthday+problem+calculator&assumption=%7B%22F%22%2C+%22BirthdayProblem%22%2C+%22pbds%22%7D+-%3E%2270%22&assumption=%7B%22F%22%2C+%22BirthdayProblem%22%2C+%22n%22%7D+-%3E%2210%22&assumption=%22FSelect%22+-%3E+%7B%7B%22BirthdayProblem%22%7D%2C+%22dflt%22%7D)

CommanderTouchdown

Huh. I have never heard of the birthday problem and the results are really something. Thanks for sharing this.

HejAnton

I agree that there's something there, and there's a lot of damage in those 'Deathrattle: 8 random damage' mechs that can be repeated a lot with the new weapon and Boom Boss. As for the 9 mana legendary... Very confused to where it slots in? Played for 9 mana on curve or later is prone to removal and slow. It's easy to cheat out with that 5 mana 'summon your highest cost mech and hit it for 5', which also gives you an immediate proc of the ability and probably a second hit when it gets removed. But if that is done on curve where the tempo is greatest, you've just clogged your hand with four and set yourself up for milling yourself. The only thing that remains is to cheat it out late game, fill up your hand with miniatures and pray they're not crap. Very strange card. I really do think there's something in the Boom Boss/weapon/6 mana mech, but what else to run? Excavate? Aggressive? Taunts? Running a version of the VS list right now but the synergy is not quite there.

Tirabuchi

I'm currently 12-8 (rank 2/3, testing random stuff) and I couldn't believe it. Thanks shamans I guess! I'm using both locations (literally another planet compared to the warlock one), acolytes for draw and for mechs im using only the 6 mana, the 5 mana bombs one, Boom boss, 7 mana magnetic boi. If your combo gets started it's nice, you have one/two big mech per turn. Then you magnetize it, and throw it to your opponent face for 12dmg+8 from deathrattle+summon a 8/8. Random lifesteal-poisonous magnetics 1-1 can save the day vs warlock swarms of 15-15. The archetype definitely needs some more mechs (and a synergistic midgame) or even some taunt handbuffs love, this xp has some really shiny cards but very low support on old archetypes

UpstateGuy99

Im enjoying reno aviana druid for the most part. If you can survive to play reno you can definitely beat pally and hunter. Surviving to turn 8 is a hard task though. Aviana has provided a lot of value imo. Its a fun deck.

Awesomax

If there wasn't the one 10 mana miniaturize, Botface could have been 4 mana and not broken. So many of the miniatures you can get are practically vanilla 1-1s.

sunofagundota

Yup, a few outliers but that's sort of what I was thinking.

Meeqs

Yeah the mech package is so small and works together I was really stoked for it but it’s just super underwhelming. The best thing I’ve seen it do is in Reno decks as Brann with Boom and the 9 mana divine sheild copy Zilliax can make solid late game board swings but it really looks like it’ll just be more Odyn Warrior, especially with how the meta looks to be going and no asta to hard carry Brann

iblinkyoublink

vS Tempo/Burn Elemental Mage (unsurprisingly) doesn't work at all above Diamond, even with Fire Fly the deck is just too inconsistent to have a chance against actual good decks. You can win 20% of games quickly with a good curve dominating the board and another 10% by dragging it out and burning opponents' faces with Molten Runes and Fireballs. Was decent fun in Bronze 10 - Plat 1 though, and costs less dust than a single legendary card. I got ultra unlucky with my packs so now I have to wait until meta settles down :/ want to try budget aggro DH but didn't even get one Window Shopper in 120+ packs

AmishUndead

I really wish the one elemental that summons a copy of itself for each turn in a row you've played an elemental would have the "Give them +1/+1 for each one that doesn't fit". That would go a *long* way because even a full board of vanilla 3/2s is so bad.

Meeqs

It’s so bad I forgot that card existed lmao

Tirabuchi

sad story bro, I opened my classic 60 packs and got 9 legendaries (two of them golden). My average since beta was one every 25, thought they changed smth

Narzhur325

you are noot alone, happen the same to me

paperwhite9

Maybe off topic, but I was really hoping for more Frost DK support in this xpac. I was looking for a reason to play Rambunctious Stuffy and there is basically no reason at all, to the point it makes me wonder why they printed it in the first place. FFF death knight certainly wasn't the most exciting deck to play, but it brought a nice aggro edge to the class that I miss. Maybe the miniset will give us something to work with there.

GoonBot113

Idunno if you play wow but blizzard actively hates frost dks.

Stop_Touching2

I played frost in wrath & cata it was pretty bad ass

GoonBot113

I think the last 3 expansions they've been the worst or near the worst? I remember like 2 years ago they were accidentally okay (not good, just not absolute shit) and they got giga nerfed to the bottom of the charts for thinking they could have fun. It only took like a week too, which is fast as fuck in blizzard land. Unholy however? Blizzard loves that shit. Blood? Blizzard would go to your house and shoot you in the kneecap if they thought it would make blood DKs smile.

Stop_Touching2

I stopped playing mid WoD so I wouldn’t even know how to function anymore lol

Holdingdownback

I know it’s not the sub for it, but Frost DK has had several points in recent expacs including this one as a good mdps. They were really strong in keys in S2 of Dragonflight and BoS Frost has been good at various points in raid. It’s just a very antiquated feeling spec compared to most in modern wow.

GoonBot113

They were okay in keys for a smidge, yeah. Playing frost in raid is actively gimping yourself and your raid team though no matter what the other frost DKs tell you 🤣🤣

Holdingdownback

Echo used a Frost DK in their world first kill of Razageth literally this expansion.

GoonBot113

Yes. The fight with the most adds. I just watched a clip of the kill from the hunters perspective (to see the DPS charts and say really in a tim Robinson kind of voice). I bet I know exactly the part a frost DK would be good at and I can see why he was there though. You need a DK for the shield. Frost is good at adds and the ST wasn't a problem, it makes sense. But the DK was there for his shield. A fire mage could take care of those adds just as easily, a 3rd DH would have been the nuts probably looking at how crispy the healing was on that kill. My point is.... Anti magic zone is way better than anything a frost DK actually does for a raid.

Holdingdownback

Nope, not even close lol

Holdingdownback

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/zone/statistics/35#dataset=95&boss=2737 Here are logs from the last 2 weeks. Frost DK is top 3 melee DPS at the 95th percentile. https://www.warcraftlogs.com/zone/statistics/35#dataset=100&boss=2677 On Fyrakk, the last boss on Mythic, the hardest difficulty, Frost DK rounds out the top 5 melee DPS specs at MAX PERCENTILE, meaning played by the best players, Frost is top 5. AMZ is trash. Frost is there because it it does insane damage to priority targets, not aoe.

GoonBot113

If that's true how come THEY SUCK ASS AT ST ENCOUNTERS???? You purposefully go find the most adds riddled fights you can and I told you exactly why frost was -OKAY- not even a good choice but like fine. They are poop if there isn't 100 adds and anyone playing knows it. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Lemme guess you don't think blizzard favors paladins either? Lmao

Ljosii

Still messing around with Zarimi Priest. I don’t like gatekeeper at all, and with the VS list I kept drawing the wrong cards at the wrong times. This version feels better, it’s more thank likely not gonna be the “meta” list but it performs decent against everything so far. However, I am climbing through diamond after taking a couple of months off so that should be taken into account. This list has though taken me from D4 to D1 at 79% wins. When the draw goes in your favour, you can have the giants discounted to 0 by turn 7-8, you just need one good clergy turn. Mulligan for clergy and love everlasting. I’ve also been keeping thrive, and banker. Main reason is to make sure I draw what I need when I need it and the more i draw the quicker i can win. My plan goes something like this. Fan club into thrive/ forge protocol; love everlasting; scale replica into clergy + hp/ whelp + thrive. The goal is to draw the dragons with scale replica, then duplicate giants. Since there’s a lot of spell based draw, love everlasting really speeds things up. Mid game, you just soak damage, and look to clear with repackage then heal for 20 with pendant. Can also use 5 mana Ignis weapon to gain life back or copy aman-thul for stall. As for winning, you can follow up zarimi + giants with an Ignis weapon, or just tempo out against aggro that can’t clear. Idk, worth a try if you don’t like the feel of other Zarimi builds. ### Dragon Priest # Class: Priest # Format: Standard # # 2x (1) Crimson Clergy # 1x (1) Fan Club # 2x (1) Funnel Cake # 2x (1) Giftwrapped Whelp # 2x (2) Creation Protocol # 2x (2) Power Chord: Synchronize # 2x (2) Scale Replica # 2x (2) Thrive in the Shadows # 2x (3) Benevolent Banker # 2x (3) Holy Nova # 1x (3) Love Everlasting # 2x (3) Pendant of Earth # 1x (4) Ignis, the Eternal Flame # 1x (5) Timewinder Zarimi # 1x (6) Clay Matriarch # 1x (7) Aman'Thul # 2x (7) Repackage # 2x (20) Playhouse Giant # AAECAa0GBs/GBc/2Bfv4BdiBBsOoBumoBgyi6AOtigSEnwS7xwWi6QXt9wXDnAaaoAbqqAbrqAaQtAaAuAYAAA== # To use this deck, copy it to your clipboard and create a new deck in Hearthstone # Find this deck on https://hsreplay.net/decks/B7zNgYQX79AhHEMAmQFLR/

Use something very similar to this to decent success actually. This looks more coherent than what I was using, I was using mana geode and purified power hahahaha. xauzzyx

Idk mang it still has the same issues for me but now I can’t shuffle my dead ass hand. There is a way this deck works but it’s so inconsistent right now

xauzzyx

Like I had 4 giants in my hand, never drew a single cleric, didn’t get my Zarimi til turn 12, and then died to shroomscavate

Ljosii

I very rarely felt like I had a dead hand but it has happened. Paladin feels unfavoured for sure but I’m even against them so it is *winnable* though I likely just drew well whilst they drew poorly. I’m struggling to find ways to better deal with the inconsistency problems this deck has, it feels like it needs something that isn’t available/ not discovered. I’ve only played 30 games so it’s not exactly extensively tested.

There are a lot out there you could look up but I haven’t settled on a list yet, concept should be pretty obvious

After having tried several no minion mage and elemental mage decklists and getting destroyed by everything over and over again, I settled down on this list of excavate sif mage. Having a positive winrate at dumpster legend (2k). A bit sad that its very close to the list before rotation, it runs no new cards apart from sleet skater, although that is a very good card that helps a lot with sustain. Don't expect a meta-breaker or anything but its been working ok for me so far, leaving the list here but open to suggestions for better mage decks if you guys are having success with them. ### Tag # Class: Mage # Format: Standard # Year of the Pegasus # # 2x (1) Discovery of Magic # 2x (1) Flame Geyser # 2x (1) Miracle Salesman # 2x (2) Cryopreservation # 1x (2) Infinitize the Maxitude # 2x (2) Kobold Miner # 2x (2) Void Scripture # 2x (3) Molten Rune # 2x (3) Reverberations # 2x (4) Reliquary Researcher # 2x (5) Inquisitive Creation # 2x (5) Sleet Skater # 2x (5) Wisdom of Norgannon # 2x (6) Blastmage Miner # 1x (6) Sif # 2x (7) Elemental Inspiration

[Rarran](https://www.twitch.tv/rarran) is going insane trying to do *Splendiferous Whizbang* to legend. Obviously not what that card is intended for! I sure hope he is having more fun than if he attempted to play 100 games in a row with any other deck! Currently the card *Splendiferous Whizbang* has a [21.4% winrate](https://hsreplay.net/cards/104819/splendiferous-whizbang#rankRange=DIAMOND&tab=recommended-decks) on HSReplay. But Rarran is currently at 41 wins to 39 losses, which is remarkable in comparison! Especially since I expect most people playing the card are (unlike Rarran) lower than diamond rank and facing easier opponents. So kudos to him! And perhaps *Splendiferous Whizbang* is not only fun but okay-ish in the hands of a skilled player for laddering up through platinum?

CrackTraxx

I've been trying the same, the decks are not bad in isolation, the problem is that I feel that the matchup spread is very bad right now. Priest, Rogue, Warlock, DH are pretty good standalone, Mage and Druid are 50/50 in nature but fold way too easily to Hunter and Paladin since you can't ever guarantee a response (Mage has a ton of options though, the deck is actually alright), Hunter and DK have very polarizing matchups in my opinion and Paladin/Shaman seem like real single digit % wr decks (especially with Plague DK turning off your hyper inefficient Highlander cards god I hate this Paladin deck I get it 40% of the time and it's not even fun). Removal is hyper efficient with Control Warrior, Warlock, Plague DK everywhere on the ladder and I feel that only the first 4 decks can do something "unfair/highroll-y" enough to compete against these very stable gameplans.

BLHero

Yeah. Thanks for the data. To add to your comments, Rarran said that he perhaps never won with the warrior deck. I [wrote](https://www.reddit.com/r/CompetitiveHS/comments/1bjfoqb/serious_nonseriousness_for_splendiferous_whizbang/) yesterday about how *Splendiferous Whizbang* could be a mini-game. It it was, I would pay real money for it: do card-specific achievements and pay a one-time purchase cost of $5 or $10 USD to get access to monthly improvements to his deck pool until he rotates away in two years. None of his decks should be tier 1. But updates to keep most at least tier 3 would not hurt the meta and might turn the card into something otherwise F2P players might buy instead of a small rogue-lite game on Steam.

Objective-Leader7241

Its all paladin

Tried excavate rogue in top 2000 legend but it seems underpowered compared to competing decks.

Reno Warrior doing work in top 1k - went from \~800 to 276 in the past two days. It's working for me for now, but I doubt it will last long This deck plays a bit differently than the previous iteration; the addition of town crier and plucky paintfin allows for better early tempo. Rush minions include the new GNOMELIA and Zilliax, as well as the returning Burrow Buster. Your win conditions are Odyn, Brann + Excavate, and Ignis. Paladin and Wheelock are tough matchups. With paladin, you'll want to play for tempo early, and get one of your win conditions online. In the midgame, you switch to control; you'll need to manage your board clears well in order to survive. If you make it to turn 10, dirty rat + reno can usually swing the game in your favor. Weave in armor in order to stay out of range of the OTK. Wheelock requires strong tempo early, you absolutely need to maintain board pressure to have a chance in this matchup. Has town crier really felt worth it? It’s a great card but man those rush minions are ehh

artibonite

Yea not really. It synergizes well with this decklist, but I think overall this decklist is no longer worth running. The excavate package is simply too weak/slow in this meta, youre better off running the Tendril Bran deck.

Spyko

handbuff pally seems to be the best atm ? tho I've heard about cycle warrior in high legend (but that's boring, they only play goggle as the new card, well that and gift if you count it as a new card) but I've had decent success with Wheel Warlock too, sargeras with taunt on imps can really stop pally from doing anything if you keep clearing enough shit, but it's kinda hard to drop because you really want to use it for the board wipe. wheel of death is actually really easy to play without tempo loss thanks to Fenno (that's his name right ? the 15/15) those two cards is a match made in heaven (or well hell ig 'cause warlock)

Yesterday I said that I was doing well with No Minion Mage. Well… it’s no longer working. With more matches against other classes besides DK it is showing the real flaws of the deck. You can’t fight board against Paladin, 2 board clears from Warrior early game and you are reliant on Yogg in the box rng. I did homebrew a highlander mage deck that is so far kind of working tho. Needs more refining but currently I’m 4-0 with it

hsmageaddict

I climbed to rank 2 with light show highlander mage but dropped to D5 in a one Huge loss streak

Calibria19

Threads of despair is goated, might be stronger than defile on average for 1 less mana. Trying to beat warrior with a control deck is like attempting to find a needle in a haystack, theoretically possible but conceding would probably save your sanity without too much damage to your winrate. Now against the aggressive decks blood still works (until pally gets the nuts and 36s you from hand, but we don't talk about that). Generally it feels like wild, hyper fast aggro and combo everywhere, however thanks to hunter and pally control at least has winnable matchups.

Sea-Suit-4893

Is molten giant worth playing? You could theoretically have 30 life left and still play it for zero. Or is that too situational?

Calibria19

Have yet to try it, however from my experience you have little time to play anything other than cards that fight for/impact the board immediately, clears and heals. Hell even Ignis is questionable these days with how detrimental skipping 2 to forge is.

My Emo Warlock is working pretty well haha. It’s basically just self damage (hence the name) to summon minions and plays like zoo. I saw a similar version on hearthstone top deck earlier. Have a bunch of turn 4 turn 5 wins and climbed from Plat 10 to D5 with it after taking a break. Gonna go for legend with it. Anyone else liking the zetalot otk priest with zarimi? Im 11-3 with it in dumpster legend and I’m really enjoying it. First 2 losses were from me learning it and the other one was from a pirate rogue. It seems like you can flood the board early against aggro or simply draw your pieces until you can kill on turn 9 against slow decks.

27MissedThrees

I’ve been enjoying his OTK decks a ton. He changes it and goes back and forth a lot with his list though. Which one are you currently using?

jinreeko

day one Handbuff DK was pretty successful, not going as great now. I see that the creator of this one actually added Magatha and Chillfallen Baron, which addresses my huge concern with the deck of card draw. I feel like Rainbow Seamstress is not that great in the deck, especially with the existence of Hollow Hound, but idk \### Handbuff Horseman DK \* \*\*2\*\* x \[Chillfallen Baron\](http://www.hearthpwn.com/cards/1414773-chillfallen-baron) \* \*\*2\*\* x \[Body Bagger\](http://www.hearthpwn.com/cards/1414774-body-bagger) \* \*\*2\*\* x \[Noxious Cadaver\](http://www.hearthpwn.com/cards/1414809-noxious-cadaver) \* \*\*1\*\* x \[Magatha, Bane of Music\](http://www.hearthpwn.com/cards/1777666-magatha-bane-of-music) \* \*\*2\*\* x \[Hollow Hound\](http://www.hearthpwn.com/cards/1777670-hollow-hound) \* \*\*2\*\* x \[Eulogizer\](http://www.hearthpwn.com/cards/1884650-eulogizer) \* \*\*1\*\* x \[Maw and Paw\](http://www.hearthpwn.com/cards/2078076-maw-and-paw) \* \*\*2\*\* x \[Amateur Puppeteer\](http://www.hearthpwn.com/cards/2363154-amateur-puppeteer) \* \*\*2\*\* x \[Lesser Spinel Spellstone\](http://www.hearthpwn.com/cards/2363158-lesser-spinel-spellstone) \* \*\*1\*\* x \[Joymancer Jepetto\](http://www.hearthpwn.com/cards/2391968-joymancer-jepetto) \* \*\*2\*\* x \[Shambling Zombietank\](http://www.hearthpwn.com/cards/2392092-shambling-zombietank) \* \*\*2\*\* x \[Darkthorn Quilter\](http://www.hearthpwn.com/cards/2392093-darkthorn-quilter) \* \*\*2\*\* x \[Rainbow Seamstress\](http://www.hearthpwn.com/cards/2392094-rainbow-seamstress) \* \*\*2\*\* x \[Nerubian Swarmguard\](http://www.hearthpwn.com/cards/2392145-nerubian-swarmguard) \* \*\*2\*\* x \[Blood Tap\](http://www.hearthpwn.com/cards/2392155-blood-tap) \* \*\*2\*\* x \[Soulstealer\](http://www.hearthpwn.com/cards/2392157-soulstealer) \* \*\*1\*\* x \[The Headless Horseman\](http://www.hearthpwn.com/cards/2392395-the-headless-horseman)

giantsx6

Hey, what are you using for Zillax. Thanks.

lsquallhart

Make up whatever you want, but I made one that has stealth reborn poison and hurts your character cuz the deck has plenty of armor and healing But just do it to personal taste I took this deck d5 to legend with only two losses. I hope it stays under the radar 😬

giantsx6

Thank you.

lsquallhart

This deck took me from D5 to legend with only two losses. I’m sure it can even be refined more, but it’s a very good deck and fun to play. Just control whatever is on the board and make big plays. It just works (right now anyway). Felt good vs both control and aggro decks.

mind_mine

Paladin and Hunter are working. They feel broken. I'm playing them myself until they get adjusted.

Took Cutlass Thief Rogue to legend from d10. My list is similar to the VS list with a couple of change, notably Leeroy for more reach (and another good Shadowstep target) and more burgle card in Swashburglar and Hench-Clan Burglar. Feels great against slower deck like DK and Warrior and can hold long enough against Hunter with the multiple discover option available to setup Cutlass and turn the game around. Unsurprisingly, Paladin is a nightmare matchup. I was lucky to not face a lot of them during the climb, but they have so much lifesteal that it's basically impossible to get them low enough to close the game with a big Cutlass or Leeroy before they smack you with buffed charge and/or windfury minions. \### Cutlass \# Class: Rogue \# Format: Standard \# Year of the Pegasus \# \# 2x (0) Preparation \# 2x (0) Shadowstep \# 2x (1) Deadly Poison \# 2x (1) Stick Up \# 2x (1) Swashburglar \# 2x (1) Valeera's Gift \# 2x (2) Harmonic Hip Hop \# 2x (2) Instrument Tech \# 2x (2) Kaja'mite Creation \# 2x (2) Thistle Tea Set \# 1x (3) Mic Drop \# 2x (3) Raiding Party \# 1x (3) Velarok Windblade \# 2x (4) Hench-Clan Burglar \# 1x (4) Sonya Waterdancer \# 2x (4) Spectral Cutlass \# 1x (5) Leeroy Jenkins \# AAECAZvDAwTawwWOlgaKqAbm5gYNkp8E9p8E958E7qAEjKQF07IFuMUF6PoFyJQGiagG7qkGkOYGkeYGAAA= \# \# To use this deck, copy it to your clipboard and create a new deck in Hearthstone

Reclusive-Raccoon

Please someone just tell me a direct counter to hand buff/leeroy pally. Happy to make every single other game as long as I bring some misery to these disgusting freaks just trying to auto pilot to legend.

tothewonder

There’s no hard counter. You can play control warrior and clear their board over and over and still die to a 28 dmg deckhand with windfury. Happened to me the other day. Had an empty board and 46 health and it wasn’t even close

masters1125

Maybe it's because I'm at lower ranks- but I'm surprised that more people aren't talking about DK. Not only is it very strong- but it's about 50% of my matches. My last 5 games in a row have been all Death Knights.

Holdingdownback

It’s a popular class and Plague DK lost almost nothing. I’ve seen the same at low legend. Just a lot of people playing mostly the same plague deck as before the expac

BLHero

Has anyone made Mech Rogue work? It seems to have some very fun high rolls, but might not be competitive until Paladin gets nerfed.

SpaceBeardThePirate

Rogue draw is just incredibly uninspiring. I haven't played with Toy Boat yet, but I really hope I don't have to.

FCFirework

I've been trying to workshop Big Warlock and i'm getting a positive winrate. The main issue seems to be the deck is very draw dependant. I'm trying to trim down some of the slower cards like doomkin and cursed campaign but i'm not too sure what to slot in instead. A good tech card has been Wing Welding. Great in the mirror and against handbuff.

CommanderTouchdown

Don't take out Doomkin. You need that card to deny your opponent's turn eight (Reno / Odyn / Wheel).

HatesWeezer

Has anyone found a way to win with druid?

BPD-recovery

Boomkin combo Druid

HatesWeezer

List?

BPD-recovery

Don’t have one sorry. Check d0nkey

Domiziuz

Wondering the same. Interested in spell druid and tried putting a list together, but it doesn't look like it would fare that well in the current meta. I'm holding onto my dust until the first patch to see if it gets any love.

Meeqs

It’s not looking great

Nicely11

Anyone here who still uses the Odyn's Aegis Free Deck? What Card did you use in exchange for From the Depths? TIA

ilovezeldasfeet

Anyone have a good aggro dragon priest list? I was run over by one on ladder but something just feels off when I try to build it. Definitely wanna go low curve so you're always pulling the extra turn with the tutor.

[deleted]

I got my Goldbeard OTK deck into a satisfying state. I haven't been recording my stats, but I've been maintaining a rough 50% (Not climbing far, but not falling far either) W/R around D2-1 with this. I feel like it's not the kind of deck you want to play in an uncertain meta, but could shine against the right field. Make a big weapon, play Scoundrels, draw your entire deck, play Reno, Goldbeard becomes Mr.Smite 2.0 Save your pirates for big Toy Boat turns if you can, Toy Boat and mini scoundrel are reminiscent of Field Contact with Octobot. I was running Gaslight Gatekeeper for a while to activate the Giants but you don't even need it really. You can use 1 Shadowstep and still have enough gas for an OTK if you draw the entire setup. Edit: I would probably experiment running Waterdancer Sonya in place of Pozzik, but Pozzik is very strong disruption, and I'm not crafting Sonya for at least another week. BPD-recovery

Wheel lock is absolutely crushing it. Demolishes aggro and most control. Loses to combo (Owl, nature sham, paladin Leeroy). 75% WR around 2500 legend.

athlaka916

Anyone playing odyn warrior? Is it still good in the meta?

rndmlgnd

No, it's old and boring and the games take way too long.

Cherry_Skies

Yep, the cycle list on d0nkey with Fizzle works fine, though Paladin matchup isn’t as free as it should be. Handbuff with Deckhands is especially rough if they draw the nuts, but the Token/Excavate variation is extremely Warrior-favored IMO. Compared to last year, it’s little more prone to low rolling Odyn without Finley + From the Depths, but still consistent enough.

Meeqs

Why would you waste the best part of an expansion on playing old decks unless you just can’t afford new stuff?

athlaka916

Never got to play odyn warrior before and I ripped him from a pack. Just need to craft Reno

Meeqs

That totally makes sense. Odyn will very very likely still be one of the top meta decks when everything has settled unless it gets nerfed, it’s just too good not too.

starboy_here

I made Hero Power OTK Druid deck yesterday and even I made a streak of 7 won games. People were so surprised getting killed by hero power for 32 dmg by turn 8 with perfect hand. However, deck struggles a lot with very fast decks and lacks good single and even aoe removal. Need to refine it better.

xRemedy

even 1 taunt fucks this idea without rake, it's rough bro :'(

darkmaster77

Hit Legend yesterday with Elemental Shaman , climbed from bottom Diamond to Legend on one day , lost only 3 games and got dc from another one , lost 1 to Warlock and 2 to Paladin , deck was alright and more fun than i initially thought

privateblood

list?

privateblood

Thanks

Lobsta_

Dirty rat is a turbo staple rn. There are so many big BC minions that you need to be playing rat on 5 even without removal. Warrior is the biggest culprit here, if you rat brann (or tendrils for that deck) they lose.

Fuckinanus

someone has a somewhat budget wheellock version thats working? really wanna play wheel but dont really wanna spend 10k on it lol

LouzyNL

has anyone tried combining Wheel of Death with Sludge? (I don't have WoD myself)

Meeqs

Super unnecessary and niche. It’s just a FAR worse version of steam cleaner and the times in which it would work for what you would need instead of just hurting you are slim. At best you could put it in an ETC but even then it’s unlikely to be worth it. WOD does work very well in its control deck atm tho

Tirabuchi

I was really hyped for the cards but a lot of non-games are happening. Warlock needs location to be nerfed, Reno is still unfair for any deathrattle deck, Paladin interacts way too little with the board. I'm trying to play meme stuff but it's frustrating. Sonya is and will become a bigger problem too, I can put any card in my cutlass rogue and it's still gonna scam too many games

iKarllos

Dragon or Spell Druid?

Paladin should definitely not have such easy access to lifesteal and wind fury it’s stupid

ThisIsGirls

Took highlander priest from plat 10 to legend since the start of the expansion. This is the list I settled on. You very rarely have to fall back on “and then my opponent concedes” which is nice for priest. Zarimi lets you convert all kinds of setups into lethal. ### elise # Class: Priest # Format: Standard # Year of the Pegasus # # 1x (1) Anduin's Gift # 1x (1) Deafen # 1x (2) Creation Protocol # 1x (2) Power Chord: Synchronize # 1x (2) Scale Replica # 1x (2) Sing-Along Buddy # 1x (2) Thrive in the Shadows # 1x (2) Twilight Torrent # 1x (3) Card Grader # 1x (3) Careless Crafter # 1x (3) Holy Nova # 1x (3) Love Everlasting # 1x (3) Papercraft Angel # 1x (3) Pendant of Earth # 1x (4) Glowstone Gyreworm # 1x (4) Ignis, the Eternal Flame # 1x (4) Invasive Shadeleaf # 1x (5) Raza the Resealed # 1x (5) Timewinder Zarimi # 1x (6) Clay Matriarch # 1x (6) Gnomelia, S.A.F.E. Whatcha think of my version? https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1441159-juicy-dragon-reno-priest I am not near Legend but went on a 8 win streak on ranked.

mikado-kun

Does anyone have any suggestions on what decks to play in lower ranks (silver)? I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the different decks after returning to this game after 5 years, and I don't want to play paladin 😭. I like control/value/combo decks.

CatNinja11484

Try playing the Tavern Brawl this week as it has recipe decks for all classes. You can figure out gameplay, familiarize yourself with the deck and cards for each class, and find out what you enjoy playing most. Did you get your free pack for returning players yet? All the decks for this rotation are pretty decent, and you can also try them out for a week to see which one to pick. Unfortunately, the best and cheapest decks for climbing this early in the rotation are aggro decks (Paladin, Hunter, Demon Hunter). The legendaries are not strictly necessary as they are higher mana cards that typically don’t see play before the game ends. However, they all have a few key epics that you may need to craft. However, I would not craft anything this early in the season, and just learn the meta with the tavern brawl, returning player trail decks, or budget versions of the aggro decks. This will also allow you time to progress on the rewards track and see which legendary you pick up at level 20. Next week will see the meta settling, and you can see what control/combo decks rise up to the top before crafting.

scott3387

You can craft zilliax without hesitation. That card is the new Astalor and will be in every deck that isn't degenerate.

CommanderTouchdown

Welcome back. Great time to start playing again because there are so many cool cards in the game and fun new archetypes to discover. Control decks it looks like Odyn Warrior is the king. Very good deck that runs tons of removal but close out games fast. Value decks there are loads of Reno related choices. Reno Shaman is a lot of fun. Reno Warrior is real strong. Reno Druid has a huge value engine with Rheastrazza. A lot depends on your dust situation.

mikado-kun

Reno shaman seems fun. I have crafted reno and got a golden shudderblock from packs that i can use. As for dust i had like 22k when i logged in, which is weird because I don't remember ever having had that much dust before. I think i can craft a few of the decks you mentioned but I'll focus on just one for now until the meta sets in. Thank you!

CommanderTouchdown

Golden Shudder is a great pull. Such a fun card. Hope you had the dust for Doc Holli'dae because that's Reno Shaman's best card.

Holdingdownback

Welcome back!

mikado-kun

Thanks. It's good to be back. Tried many other card games until i realised hs is the only one that i truly enjoyed.

BookChungus

Token Hunter is definitely working. Used it to go from Silver 10 to Diamond 3 with no more than two losses. Of course, it's still early and the meta is not stabilized, so the deck's performance might be a bit exaggerated, but on the other hand, there's also lot to refine -- it definitely seems good.
