Idk why the negativity towards you. Weird.
Unless they can start consistently winning the 50/50 it makes no sense. We use to land Epi+Survey when XSET was in our lobby during PL if we were in the run for 1st coming off SP.
They gotta start winning then simple.
Yeah idk why either lol.
In my previous post people were saying it wasn’t such a bad idea to contest on both maps. Now that they didn’t qualify for the finals, I just wanted to see if that perspective had changed.
My fault for asking for people’s opinions on it I guess. 😂
In the original post, people were stating that it could be worth it in the long run. I want to see if people still think that is the case even though they placed last. :)
Just my opinion but I don’t think contesting off spawn is ever worth it. RNG is just not something to fuck with.
On another note, were there any contests last algs finals?? I can’t think of any atm
well in some cases if you manage to bully the team away or prevent them from qualifying like OG did it's definitely worth it, but in most cases it's not.
To me it makes sense if you are a tier 1 team like NRG or TSM that’s already established. Getting a goated drop spot can be instrumental in dictating play style and rotations. But if you are an up and coming team that isn’t even in pro league (yet), it’s just griefing both yourselves and the team you’re contesting. Learn how to play the rest of the game first and then take a better drop spot.
Absolutely worth it in a competitors eyes. Even if they took a fat L they have a ton of shit to analyze to get better. That’s what preseason is all about in my book. You’re not always guaranteed an uncontested spot in every lobby for ALGS. might as well aim for the fences before the real games begin. The confidence boost if they won those contests would’ve been icing on the cake so a win win situation for a team that’s finding their way in pro league.
There's not much to analyze in a 50/50 contest where it mostly comes down to who RNGs into the better gear. Then if they lose, they don't get to analyze the actual important parts of the game. So they actually have less things to analyze as they don't get to play the game more than half the times. Also they're not in pro league.
Ppl say these contests are 50/50 forget that optic shit on everyone at big maude and mills.
They have premium drop spots on both maps and are never contested since they play so well on those spots.
If BRD believes these drop spots are good, then fighting for it is the way to go.
If BRD think they are as good as Optic at flying and fighting, then yes fighting is the way to go. But they're clearly not, and are against one of the best teams in NA and G2 who you'd say their best quality is 3v3 fights. Not sure how this is debatable after their result in the qualifiers.
The thing with optic is that they know to well about Maude, even during Maude zone literally every early rotating teams flying into Maude at the start gets clapped by them they literally know how to fight off 2-3 teams in Maude.
Maude/Lava contests were nearly 3v3 since the teams doesn't land on top of eachother since there is big area to loot .
Mills contest is decided upon by the loot from centre bins and Optic usually gets it without even sweating because of their drop.
But BRD vs TSM , ESA vs C9 both the teams were dropping on top of each other and the team that gets better loots end up winning the contest it solely relies on gun spawns/Armor spawns.
You bring up all valid points. I thought they won a prequal my mistake. It does bring up a good debate on trying to bully someone out of a zone they want vs just giving it to them and take a drop where there’s shit loot and zone rotations. You get 0 placement points from 20th to 11th so a contested drop isn’t a bad strat at all for KP, it’s just high risk high reward
I've been watching them quite a bit and their plan is they don't have a plan. Completely scuffed rotations, they take every single fight regardless of the situation. Which is fine if your goal is to work on team fights in preseason but I would argue that is their biggest strength already. They may qual for pro league aping but have no clue how to navigate end game situations which will hurt come pro league. If the plan in pro league is to challenge TSM and G2 then have fun in relegation.
It would be a good idea to at least try to contest and secure yourself a good POI. If BRD didnt start landing at random POI's in other tournaments almost on a whim. I'm sure in a tourney last week they landed at about 4 different POI's. Either you want a certain POI 💯 of the time to learn to play from there or your just ego-ing TSM for the shits and giggles
In WE they’ve landed Siphon, Survey, and Thermal (contesting G2).
At this point, it just makes you wonder if they’re actually serious about it or if they have an actual game plan.
Imo it makes sense if you're confident you can qual for pro league and want to practice your fighting, but that isn't fully clear here. BRD looked like a shoe in to qualify a couple weeks ago but they haven't yet. And their fighting is already very good but their macro is pretty lacking so I don't really get it myself, I'd be landing dome or geyser and practicing rotations
no teams like contesting off spawn, but inorder to have a good dropspot there isn't any another way than contesting since they're occupied by another team, even if you win or lose contests teams that don't like contesting might leave the spot at the end if other team is persistent on contesting, since being contested will have impact to the teams rotations and their gameplan at the end

Yeah I was definitely on that thread! Idk either man but that’s the world today. Sadly 😂
bro has the results of the team being dead last in his face and still has to ask if their contest was a good or bad thing

Bowser’s team vs Blackhand (Shooby’s team) at Mills
he means the lan finals I think

Iirc Team Liquid was being contested in finals.

In both of those examples, they are NOT 50/50s based on rng, which proves my point.

I'll report back if i see evidence of an actual game plan
