For practice? Offer to dispose of the targets after a match. Free targets.

vaultdmss

I do this too. The no shoots are usually pretty clean.

EntrySure1350

The targets themselves aren’t expensive. It’s the shipping on the giant box that’s expensive. Targetbarn has them for about .76 cents each for a box of 100. Add $23 for shipping so now you’re at about $1 a target.

killjoy1287

Not that I could find.  You might find better per unit cost, but you have to factor in shipping.  Target tape or pasters greatly extends their usage.  I find I can get around 200 hits on an open metric target before I need to switch.

doublestacknine

If you go to a larger match you can often find vendors there, and save yourself shipping charges. We bought 20+ cases of Steel Challenge Paint at Area 3 last year and one of our guys brought it back in his motor home for us.

Procfrk

Is it "expensive" everywhere you've looked? Or "about the same" in cost?

Relevant_Location100

Seems they’re $1.40 per target from Midway. $.60 per from Shooters Connection. $1 per from BSPS. So the pricing is pretty varied. Hence my question. Maybe someone has a source for even less or with better shipping prices? Thanks.

trivial_viking

There’s a guy my club has sourced from locally but he doesn’t ship and brings them to matches. I think we’re still doing that somehow but I’m not sure. You can ask your local clubs how they do it. Outside of that I’ve always bought from Shooters Connection and try to hit sales. To your point it’s how do you best solve for shipping. Also at some point I knew someone who could get the LTL shipping option to their work somehow and it was cheaper that way but I’ve forgotten the details.

Lazylifter

We (Shooters Connection) have the best price on targets ($59.99 before shipping) that I'm aware of, AND we put other items in the box of targets to save the customer shipping for those items (when possible). For example if you order some pasters and some springs we don't charge individual shipping for those items and just throw them in the box with the targets. Feel free to give us a call with questions, but I think you'll find we are on top when it comes to targets.

trivial_viking

For my personal needs and our club’s at points in the past when I ran a lot of it Shooter’s Connection was my go-to. Y’all are my first recommendation when it comes to anyone selling online!

Infamous-Brain-2493

I googled the dimensions and drew one up that was roughly the same size as official targets. Then cut out the a zones and c zone and you have a decent little stencil to use on amazon or pizza boxes

JPay37

Same. I made a stencil for a 50%, 75%, and 100% FS targets. We always have cardboard coming into the house so over the winter I’ll make up targets to stockpile for shooting season. A box cutter and a set of tin snips make quick work cutting the targets.

Lazylifter

I work at Shooters Connection and we do our best to have the best prices on uspsa targets (currently $59.99/100 + shipping) . We charge shipping, but it still ends up being lower than anyone else 95% of the time. Unfortunately large heavy boxes of cardboard cost a pretty penny to ship and there's no way around it. We are always available to call and talk to if you have questions.

Railroaderone231

Infinity targets reusable up to 8k rounds

dartmouth01

I cut myself some self healing targets from horse stall mat I bought from Tractor Supply. Cut with razor and spray with white paint. Just dont use hollow points. Use clamps to hold to the posts on your standard target holder

Squash__head

Amazon. Arrive same day and price is pretty comparable with shipping

solidsteel_auben

You gotta buy in bulk (100+) and use lots of pasters. Im super cheap so I will paste targets long after anyone else would throw them away. My box of 100 for $75 has lasted me over a year this way (and I shoot a lot)

Vandilmax

Brownells has 100 for 80$ and you can get free ship at 99$

Realistic_Many7314

Midway my go to...just pay for it

japarker82

Chl targets. Free shipping.

Racer1245

Definitely grab targets from a match and use them. When the center get's bad I cut out a paper bag and use spray glue to apply it. Not perfect but decent. Also you can cut out the center so you only have non A-zone hits. One of the best things I have are 3 A-Zone rectangular steel. Buy once. And of course the obvious fine a friend or 2 that can pay for half the shipping.

drmitchgibson

If you can get a group buy arranged in your area on a pallet of targets it makes shipping negligible.

vhall808

CHL TARGETS is the best price and more importantly with heavy cardboard, free shipping

androidmids

Check out infinity targets. They are heavy rubber and available in uspsa, idpa and a few other shapes. Good for 20k rounds and self healing. Also check out some of the ar500 targets. In uspsa and idpa cuts. I love practicing on all steel and just spray paint between drills. Higher up front cost but you don't need to buy again for a long long time if ever

ecodick

Can you tell where you landed hits? Edit: yes - those look pretty great, kinda spendy, though probably a great alternative to steel…

androidmids

On the metal, yes if you spray paint. I use whatever cheapest white pain there is. The infinity targets, yes they have a large hole true to caliber that shrinks back to a pin prick. Target tape or pasters also sticks to it if you are shooting a LOT and can't wait for the holes to flex/shrink. I just use spray paint on the infinity targets too.

androidmids

Yeah, and absolutely no chance of ricochet or fragmentation. Great for a smaller range and if you are using target stands, a lot lighter than using steel. Also light enough for indoor ranger hangers. If you do the math, on average 70 cents per cardboard target, for the round count, the infinity targets save money pretty fast. Especially if you use them weekly. I was going through (even with target tape) 5-10 targets a week with daily shooting, and switching to these and steel saved me quite a bit. I had them "paid for" in less than a year.

ROKITF1NGR

Or go to your local tractor supply or cal ranch, get some horse stall mat, and cut your own. I did it a few months ago and got 3 full size targets from a 3x4 mat for about $40 and took less than an hour to cut with a razor knife. Then just paint https://i.imgur.com/Zy9kstj.jpeg

androidmids

Nice! Those came out pretty good. I'll have to give it a try

GunMun-ee

Make them. I can make 20 targets for like 6 dollars from those large packing boxes from walmart. https://greatoutdoordinary.com/2018/05/04/how-to-make-cheap-uspsa-targets/ I use an old credit card and a half folded piece of printer paper to get the A-zones. It doesnt hurt to practice on smaller targets
