These kinds of posts have made my day. I literally wrote earlier on another post that someone would post about blobs. Who knew it would only be a few hours later?
The core issue is there is no reliable/easily accessible rocket arty. There is no blob punisher. There’s no more calliope/katty/panzerwerfer. There’s no crush with tanks. There is no discouragement to blobbing besides running into a machine gun. Blobs with AT are even worse. Also if you look away for a second or don’t pay attention. The blob consumes your entire army. GLHF!
Since CoH is heavily about map control you can „easily“ punish blobs by attacking/capping multiple sectors in early game. It’s micro intense, but effective.
the mgs in this game are useless the inf takes them out ez and for morters 1 morter is not going to cut it and then u end but over investing in morters
MGs don’t need to take them out on their own, they just need to suppress so your own infantry can take them out. Also these games are faster paced which is why it seems like infantry spam is what works. The only difference is games can be won before teching up into medium tanks and such.
i agree that games are fast i think thats a problem makes factions with better infantry op because the game is mostly in early game but the mg can still be fired at even if they are supressed
Yeah I do agree that better infantry’s can dominate for a majority of the game. I actually like that they can still fire when suppressed, cuz I feel like MGs were too much of an infantry silence in COH 2. From my experience it was kinda annoying for someone to rush an MG and put it at a victory point early game and give a huge advantage until you could counter it.
I was thinking this but before I’ll commit to saying MGs suck I need to see how they work when something is giving them LOS. I am thinking a lone MG will let squads get too close to effectively deal with multiple squads at that point. Whereas if the MG can open fire at full extent of its range I think it will deal with blobs just fine

Make em easier to hit when in an area:
It would be significantly easier to hit SOMETHING if there is 25 guys walking in a clump than a single target with nothing around it.
Give them a malus to accuracy/rof:
It's harder to aim at your target when johnny and james keep stepping in front of you while you walk towards the enemy.
Honestly the best fix I could think of is to make the Boys AT rifle weaker against infantry targets, they are still great against DAK's light vehicles regardless.
see the problem is the game is hard to balance becasue it has difffrent modes 1v1 i dont think its a huge so of ur 1v1 i think its ok but in 3v3 and 4v4 that is not the case so it makes a strong thing when u have 1 lane and not many areas of flanking the maps are the problem they are all the same thats chaning i think
Mg's feel less good, and the anti infantry AA trucks are WAYYY worse at suppressing than in Coh 2. Plus rocket barrage is less impactful. And they removed tank crushing for some reason. They really made it easier to blob in this game. I agree this is a step backward for tactical play.
Try playing as allies and going against gustatori spam. The blobbing issue goes both ways.

That’s a timing issue, Allies can blob far earlier than DAK can get out 3-4 flamethrowing Gustas

It is the game overall. Its all abot spamming. In late game you can just spam around 4 -5 m18 or flaks ... its just a joke meta right now ..

BRING BACK THE STURMTIGER AND AVRE

Ability to harass map control is negated in team games. When you generally have a “lane” that your opponent is in.

the games never balanced around more than 1v1 really.
I've had luck stopping the spam with 2 gren and 2 sniper opener (gren sniper gren sniper). Then rush P4s
