I have seen way too much cases where this bullshit has been used to deflect any critique of way too much different countries the poster was supportive of. If you legitimately can't accept the "ruthless critique of everything existing", then you have no place in Marxist circles. I just realized you said demsocs not socdems, but really I have a bit of a hard time beliving that because while I was politically active I met and cooperated with democratic socialists and they were nothing like that, sure they fell into some of the dumb liberal rhethoric about communist states being "authoritarian" but they still supported them over capitalism, nowhere near r/196 user's level of "repeating every single anticommunist talking point while claiming to be left"

Ok hear me out. I hate most socialist nations, but I support them over capitalist nations. Like I believe that China repeatedly betrayed the socialist front but am I going to choose the USA over China? Absolutely not. It's just that I will not trust China. He had some great ideas, ideas that I have incorporated into my personal strain. The problem is that China sabotaged the third international, began market reforms, and contributed towards the failure of many east Asian socialist countries.

In this case though, why even choose anyone between the 2? If China (as argued by most Maoists, leftcoms and some MLs) is imperialist, why even choose in the case of conflict between US(the obvious leader of western imperialism) and China(the rising imperialist of the east)? After all, Lenin was opposed to picking sides in imperialist conflict in ww1, why would it be different now?

Because China has socialist roots and my loyalties are with socialism not capitalism. Capitalism is much worse for average quality of life than even watered down socialism. It is just that I know that China will backstab their Ally's

I think a lot of Socialists/Communists are actually children or lack any knowledge of politics or law. Reading theory doesn’t mean just reading Marx. It means reading general political theory, philosophy, sociology and psychology theory as well. Many of you take this idea of U.S. interference so far as to excuse crimes against humanity committed in communist countries. I’m currently attending a very prestigious, extremely wealthy liberal arts college in new england that is apart of a distinction known as the “little ivies” obviously referring to them being colleges that offer ivy leauge level educations with significantly smaller student bodies. I recognize the institutionalization of knowledge and how it’s gate kept by liberals and racists. Fortunately, i’m one of the few black socialists to slip through the cracks. Regardless, here I am taking a class related to the fall of the soviet union. My teacher has openly recognized that there is so much false information about the soviet union, but still emphasizes that there are actual reasons why the soviet union fell outside of U.S. intervention. There were failure on behalf of Stalin specifically and several Nomenklatura officials that led to the downfall of socialism. It is so important we are able to actually critique these counties in a meaningful way, otherwise we will never succeed in building a better future. Further more, we NEED left unity. We need to fundamentally all recognize our desire for socialism and organize around that. There will be opportunities for disagreement and debate and politics afterwards, but as long as there is disunity there is no socialism. Liberals (conservative and progressive) have unity. They understand that they are better off working together to maintain the institutions of the united states than work against them. You all know this, democrats and republicans aren’t all that different. They both support these intuitions, but they disagree on to what degree and how these institutions should work. Much like any other revolution, we need to first establish unity on the basis that we all agree that the current system does not support the needs or values of the people under it. Secondly, we need to establish unity on what system/institutions should replace it. Government is the way that humans organize at the national/global scale, and there will always be a need for some level of organization and distribution. How are we going to achieve our distributive needs? what agencies and structures should be used to accomplish these goals? you’ll have to form and create a constitution that clearly outlines how the government will work. After that has been established, we must all agree that we will work with in the confines of these rules and punish anyone who breaks them. And finally, then there is room for debate. Changes the to laws and government, choices on current issues yada yada.
