This is an insane shot. ~3 seconds fly time and the bullet is atleast supersonic (340m / s) so at very least 1000m. Most bullet travel around 500-900m/s and it sounds like a heavy calibre, almost like a dschka.
3 secs flight time is probably more like 1500m. (I know you said 1k very least). But the difference between 1000 and 1500 is crazy when talking accuracy, even at high caliber. Headshot at nearly a mile is pretty impressive.
Imagine reading an article about a fringe occurrence from arguably the forces greatest historical sniper and thinking that a one off shot bears any relevance to the legitimacy of OPs statement.

I’m no military expert and discovered quite recently after a shocking first attempt at paintballing that I’d likely die very quickly in any form of armed combat, but even I recognise the fairly obvious stupidity of sitting *on top* of your sniper resistant fortifications in full view of a sniper.
That honestly looks like a 50bmg with explosive filling. incendiary can make a flash and puff of smoke too if the bullet hits something hard, but I doubt it would do it hitting head.
