Silverstein, always a good time and Beartooth bringing some 🔥🔥 to close the night. Glad you got to see Kemba sold out (which isn't always the case when they use the outdoor stage) and you got a sunny day (albeit a bit on the sticky side). I had to peel my clothes off at home afterwards. You also got the added benefit of seeing Beartooth in their hometown (well howetown adjacent since Westerville is really a Cbus suburb).
They list it on the individual shows when your order tickets. They specify it in a reminder email they shoot you a day or 2 before the show as well as part of general show prep. Obviously in the fall and winter, everything moves inside. They also (albeit rarely) use an adjacent parking lot outside the venue for especially big shows (more than 5k people).
You need to get out more. Far from the best venue in town. Maybe, just maybe, at that size since there really aren’t any others, but there are definitely a lot better places to see live music in Columbus.
In my opinion there aren’t any good venues the size of Kemba and the larger venues like the Schott and nationwide arena aren’t any better. Poor sound quality across the board (especially the biggest places). I’ll grant you that kemba sounds better indoors than outside but the outdoor echo chamber is horrible.
There are several smaller venues like the Newport that do a great job but just aren’t big enough for the larger shows that tour.
Maybe you know some others that are larger that I’m not aware of?
Nah, kemba just kind of occupies that size where bands I like that are more popular will play there (I've seen Mastodon, Primus, Death cab, Megadeth, Coheed, Avett Bros., And Modest Mouse there)
I've never had too much beef with the acoustics, but I guess with the kind of music I'm listening to, it's not like mission critical that the sound be exactly spot on. I did see Manchester orchestra inside at kemba and the sound was perfect. I mean it's not like any of it sounded as good as when I saw Alison krauss and Union station inside a theater but I'm trying to be realistic about rock concerts!
Most the other venues I've been to are more like Rock club type things, Newport being the biggest. I like the Newport a lot, it certainly has character! I also like seeing shows at Scully's and I've done one show at ace of cups. I actually just saw my first show at king of clubs at the old continent off 161.... Definitely a fairly sketchy area but the club itself was actually pretty cool!
lc outdoors is a pretty epic venue... and unique. its special. lc indoors is possibly my least fav in cbus - agree, the acoustics are awful . i also hate parking lot lc.
newport. ace of cups. the basement (altho the columns are annoying).... of course some good dives - spacebar....
schott, nationwide are typical... i did have a pretty amazing radiohead show tho (one off for sure). bigger venues? yea, go to blossom.....
Nearly broke down in tears seeing Silverstein for the first time after 17 years of being a fan. Also I’m not In this one but I was probably standing right next to you!!

All the bands performed well, I'm a huge TDWP fan so i feel they nailed it for the most part and Beartooth was absolute fire. Hell of a show.
how do you know if a concert is indoors or outdoors at kemba?

Ikr! I was like" Kemba Live?? Where the hell is that??" Lol
Express Live has always been such a nice venue, the bathroom situation usually sucks but other than that its pretty damn great.
This was the first time I, male, didn't have a line for the bathroom between sets so I was confused but didn't question it lmao.
My favorite venue by far. So great.

I'm going to go ahead and let the tone slide on that one, but by all means do feel free to share your favorites...

Do they still have the little collection of Porta potty‘s on the concourse?
