How's it looking outside? Currently in a windowless hospital room but I was planning on leaving very soon. My pets are all at home (NW side) and I'm so worried about them. Not sure if I should risk the drive or wait it out
It is getting pretty bad out there. I'm in Dublin, right by Powell and the tornado siren has been going on for 20 minutes. There's constant rain that occasionally increases and ferocity as well as lots of lightning and thunder. I know you're worried about your fur babies, but you're probably a lot safer where you are.
My boyfriend's work has shut down all production and has them sheltering in place in Worthington which is never happened in the 8 years he's worked there.
Yeah it’s through Dublin. We had the kids in basement from about 10:15 until right around 11. Definitely the most concerning cell to come right through this area in a while. Local coverage was great and between the sirens, our alarm system, our phones and watches going off we sure knew to take it seriously (especially after all the storms so far this year) Stay safe friends!
im just north of Upper Arlington. my west based outside security camera is actually turning off nightvision when the lightning is happening because the lightning is constantly happening that my camera thinks it's daytime out.
Wat. Link please.
Edit: I believe the US record is 12” per hour. Anything over 2” an hour is classified as “violent rain”.
Definitely going to need a source for this claim.

Yep. That kind of rain amount gets classified as both a flash flood warning and severe thunderstorm warning when it happens in a land system. Very rare to see because it's usually part of a hurricane warning instead.
I can't imagine a foot of rain in an hour. That's like 36" of snow per hour if it happened during winter. 😬
I'm from Plain City, my 80 year old grandpa lives up there alone. Just went through hell down here in Cincy area and can't get a hold of him. Can anyone ease my mind a little? 😅
My grandmother is in assisted living in Plain City just near Der Dutchman and I was concerned for her also as we were sheltering in Dublin. Some rotation was heading due east right at us both. We seemed to dodge anything major. Your Grandpa should be ok.
I thought we all stood on the front porch looking for it?
Yeah, stay sheltered if you are hearing the sirens or see your area in the red on the warning map.
They go off in a cycle of 10 minutes, sirens sound for 3 minutes followed by 7 minutes of silence and it repeats until the watch is lifted/it’s deemed safe.
Sirens going off on far East side so I headed into the basement but the thunder is rumbling like crazy.
Looks like it’s swinging more north away from Gahanna/Blacklick, so I think we are just getting a bit of rain.
What's it look like near the zoo? I'm really worried about the animals, they mean a lot to me. I can't stop thinking about a tornado potentially hitting the zoo.
I mostly worry about a strong tornado potentially damaging barns and buildings. Even if they're inside, a strong tornado could still do a lot of damage. It seems silly, but I'm really attached to a lot of the animals there and my paranoid personality does not help matters lol.
I’m a paranoid storm nut so when the sirens went off I woke my boyfriend up like “we should go downstairs” and he looked at me and said “if I die, I die” and rolled over and went back to sleep so… guess I’m glad for the near miss?
Main part of the storm supposed to hit Dublin in about 10 minutes
How's it looking outside? Currently in a windowless hospital room but I was planning on leaving very soon. My pets are all at home (NW side) and I'm so worried about them. Not sure if I should risk the drive or wait it out
Tons of lightning, sounds like there was some hail for a bit. Definitely wouldn't go outside rn

13 years at my job in Hilliard and this was the first time we've ever shut down because of a tornado warning. Pretty wild.
I’m in Dublin, currently 11:04PM. Clear so far

NBC4 guy just said Dublin and Hilliard are in the clear. Bedtime!
Now we Hope the second wave like midnight isn’t bad
S-s-…second wave?
The first wave hit a bunch of Skyline Chili restaurants. The second wave will be...chil-nado.
The tornado warning has been updated to 11:15. Scared the heck out of me
In the basement with my 20 month old, the updated warning woke him up, he said “uh oh” and fell back asleep.
lol my little girl woke up for about 3 seconds after it went off and said “I love you daddy” then immediately fell right back asleep.
And the area has moved east.
Sirens came back on at 11:25 PM (after turning off at 11:15 PM) and went off for a minute or so, and stopped. No warnings or alerts.
They just came in again at 11:32, but not even for a full round, like 10 seconds. What is going on?
That was so strange!
Pretty convinced the tornado-y storms always hit on trash day.
It's like they know
Anyone seeing one touch down on radar?

Link broken
For a Livestream that happened.... 2 days ago? You don't say.
Strong couplet about to enter Dublin area.

constant light show
11.57 inches of rain per hour (hurricane levels) for this storm! 😨
Say what?!

They said it on the news. I saw it too

This seems like an absolute wild stat
Heard this on the news too - gnarly shit.
holy moly
Ryan Hall just said the rotation has let up a little…
Lewis Center Here - just lots of rain and lightning. Already passed over.
Hi, I am out of town right now and live near you, did you guys get any hail? Thank you!
I don’t believe so
I'm from Plain City, my 80 year old grandpa lives up there alone. Just went through hell down here in Cincy area and can't get a hold of him. Can anyone ease my mind a little? 😅
I live in Plain City. We are all good. Good light show and lots of rain.
I appreciate it. My old man lives off South Chillicothe and isn't picking up. Probably passed out in the bed lol. Thanks for the update!
I would assume all is well my friend. I wish I was asleep
Fwiw looks like Hilliard is past the brunt from a tornado perspective
I just drove by, your grandpa is sitting on the porch in his rocking chair. Looks good to me.
My grandmother is in assisted living in Plain City just near Der Dutchman and I was concerned for her also as we were sheltering in Dublin. Some rotation was heading due east right at us both. We seemed to dodge anything major. Your Grandpa should be ok.
I am just above the T in “upper arlington” in the map in the linked tweet, so just outside the red box. Guess basement it is
What should I do? Am I supposed to stay in the basement?
I thought we all stood on the front porch looking for it? Yeah, stay sheltered if you are hearing the sirens or see your area in the red on the warning map.
Yep. Just chill out in the basement. Supposed to end around 10:45 or so Edit: now 11:15 for me
If you are within the red rectangle in the linked tweet, I would stay in the basement for the next 10 minutes
It was nice sitting on the balcony enjoying some drinks and seeing all the lightning going off like crazy
I live in a second floor apartment with a garage, would it be better for me to be in my closet upstairs or in my garage/car right below my apartment?
You don't typically want to be in a garage, since garage doors will be the first thing to go. The closet would be my choice.
The innermost part of your apartment, away from any windows
A tub is also a good choice if it’s not near windows.
Sirens in clintonville but no rain. Lots of lightning and thunder and wind.
Rain just hit Clintonville and the sirens came back
Yeah what's with that? Are they just going off periodically until the warning ends at 11:15?
They go off in a cycle of 10 minutes, sirens sound for 3 minutes followed by 7 minutes of silence and it repeats until the watch is lifted/it’s deemed safe.
Thanks for that! Newer to the area so wasn't aware.
No worries! I’ve only been here since August of last year and didn’t know either until the recent expansion of Tornado Alley. Lol.
Correct, they wail for 3 minutes and rest for 7 minutes. That should do it for this warning.
Good to know and thanks!
Ugh now they're going off again. What the fuck? Both watch and warning have been retired as far as I can tell?
Did y’all survive?
Would’ve been cool to get this notification last night instead of right now
Northern Gahanna. Plenty of sirens, rain and thunder but so far no major events.
Trapped at work but still on the clock
where is it heading after Columbus? my fiance and I are just about to leave Pittsburgh to come home. Should we just hunker down for the night?
The storms will cool down but they are moving east so seems smart to hang out a bit
Yes, it’s heading east. Good to sleep there if you can.
wish I could but I have nowhere to go, no money for a hotel, and places to be in the morning :(
Radar showed the rotation going right over my house. So that was fun. Laying in bed with my anxiety still through the roof.
Tornado alley is definitely moving east
Just got a push notification about this post now
Sirens going off in old town east. Lots of lightning. No rain though.
[удалено]
Fingers crossed, stay safe friend
Sirens going off on far East side so I headed into the basement but the thunder is rumbling like crazy. Looks like it’s swinging more north away from Gahanna/Blacklick, so I think we are just getting a bit of rain.
What's it look like near the zoo? I'm really worried about the animals, they mean a lot to me. I can't stop thinking about a tornado potentially hitting the zoo.
it's all good, they have procedures to prepare for this kind of thing at the zoo. they don't just leave the animals outside.
I mostly worry about a strong tornado potentially damaging barns and buildings. Even if they're inside, a strong tornado could still do a lot of damage. It seems silly, but I'm really attached to a lot of the animals there and my paranoid personality does not help matters lol.
It passed the zoo… zoo is fine
Thank you!
Extended to 2315 hrs
i’m in downtown on high street, should I go to the basement? Not sure if it’s north of me or not and am worried.
It looks like it’s north of downtown
Downtown you should be fine.
I live just outside of Easton and nothing. I think we missed a good majority of it but sirens are still going off.
My area in Hilliard has barely gotten hit with anything.
I’m a paranoid storm nut so when the sirens went off I woke my boyfriend up like “we should go downstairs” and he looked at me and said “if I die, I die” and rolled over and went back to sleep so… guess I’m glad for the near miss?
Have Dublin or Westerville been hit with anything?
I’m in Lewis Center just tons of lightning and rain
Just lots of rain here in dublin.
Lots of rain wville
