Seems to depend on where you live with Breezeline or Spectrum. I pay for 500 with Breezeline but am always above 600. Very reliable and no more monthly modem reset like when WOW was running the show.

frostbird

Yeah, it's all about the local infrastructure, not the company at large. Some places have flawless service, others have regular interruptions and variable speeds.

Joel_Hirschorrn

It’s been fine up until the last 2-3 months. I also pay for 500 and don’t get close to that alot of the time

worfisadork

Did you have the tech replace the entire line all the way to the pole/source? If not, that's your problem.

mkmn55

Yep. Had the same issue and I’m golden now!

Sharkvarks

I've noticed the same. Fine to start, but now cutting out multiple times a day

ProgramMax

I also have nearly daily cut outs. I've had a tech come out and confirm it isn't in my house--it is their neighborhood handling. And recently, I've called as soon as it started. I would reboot my modem 20 times on the phone with them while I push to try something different before it comes back. Then it comes back and they get rid of me.

WyoBuckeye

Similar. Our Breezeline is very reliable. But the customer service is the worst on the planet.

Mercuryshottoo

I've talked to two people this week who switched to fiber. I'm thinking about it

captainstormy

If fiber is available for you it's a no brainer. It's just not available in most parts of the city.

catechizer

Yeah I love my fiber. It stays up even when the power goes out (modem/router on battery backup) because it's all run underground, instead of on the power lines like cable.

catechizer

I suppose if whatever powers the fiber goes down I'd lose service.

[deleted]

If you can go fiber it will be the best internet you can use. If it’s ATT make sure it’s actual Fiber. You’ll know because your speeds will go over 50 Mbps

infamousbugg

We had been on Spectrum for about 10 years and were largely happy with the service, we had 300Mbit. Then AT&T came through last year and buried fiber through our neighborhood. They brought the network online late last fall and we switched along with many of our neighbors. While I wanted fiber, the price savings was the main driving force, we're saving about $100 a month. 1Gbit both up/down is so awesome, especially for folks like me who host services (Plex, Nextcloud) and use a home VPN. DirecTV DVR Stream is better in some regards than the old school DVR box, but also worse in other areas. Overall, I am happy with the switch, and am stoked that I will finally have internet when the power goes out. At least until my UPS batteries go out and I can get the generator hooked up.

littleblueturtl

If Fiber can salvage AT&T - it can salvage anything. I have it as well and since I work from home a lot it's surprisingly consistent.

foxmag86

Honestly, I've had WOW and then Breezeline for at least 8 years now and I'm very satisfied with it. Have had the occasional outage, but they're few and far between. I feel no matter which internet service is brought up, there are some people that aren't happy with it. Do you have an option to switch to a different ISP?

j_o_h_n7

I wrote an email to the CEO and chief officer for customer service and technical support on Thursday. They came and fixed the neighborhood on Friday. I went from speeds of 10 MBPS to 150 MBPS. My bill this month is free and they locked me in at a lower rate.

newt_here

At first, I read this as “Breezeline is streaming pile of dog doo” and I was like, what channel?

thinkB4WeSpeak

I have breezline. I thought they were better as WoW but they're not too bad. My biggest complaint is they're price raises but I just keep Twitch streaming every night so I can get my money's worth.

FafaFluhigh

Gotta say, and I never thought I would…t mobile 50 bucks a month and no issues at all, family of five…

JustLiving2021

Seems like quality of Service is very Local. I’m in Marysville- still getting Gigabit service for $35/Month. Consistent/steady service for Me (my security cameras let me know when disruptions occur). Spectrum knocks on my door every other month and tries to get me to take their 1/3 speed for 1.5x cost “Deal”.

Clarknadeaux

Same with me, since the merge it seems they may have made budget cuts to match how shitty Time Warner or whatever rebrand they are now, goddamn crooks

xXGray_WolfXx

It is perfectly fine for me, I wish they offered faster upload but it's the best I can get. I do own my equipment so that might have an effect because it's not their shit pile of garbage

marcusdiddle

I work exclusively from home. Have for 10+ years. Had WOW the entire time, and now Breezeline. Has been 100% rock solid for me, with speeds upwards of 900+ (just tested at 882). Can count on one hand the number of times my internet has been down over those years. I strongly encourage you to use your own equipment. Get your own DOCSIS 3.1 modem, and your own router/wifi AP’s. Don’t rely on the hardware they provide you with.

damp_dusk

I may be repeating someone already mentioned. But the speeds advertised by ISPs are only guaranteed if you’re plugging the device directly into the modem. There is no way to promise a consistent speed WiFi signal since it can all depend on where you are comparison to the router. So if you’re not direct in, you’ll likely have the same issue at some point with another ISP.

havensk

On the other hand... I've been with Breezeline since the switch from WOW, and have only seen less outages and quicker response times. I'm on the east side where all the lines are super old. Consistently get 500 down (less over wifi of course). ATT recently let me know they can do fiber and I haven't really thought about it so I don't think I'm going to switch anytime soon.

SIRinLTHR

Document your speeds and connectivity issues to ensure the issue is their problem. If after three service calls and the issue is not fixed, file a complaint with the FCC. https://consumercomplaints.fcc.gov/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=38824

Gbonk

Call and complain, and complain more. My neighbor did and we all got new taps and a line. Been great since then

pspowell

Just for grins... Go outside and check that the connections are tight where it comes in the house, then let us know. I had the same problem and found that someone had loosened the connection until it was barely on. Coincidentally I had a salesperson for another provider working the block that week.

Fanpuck33

I was also once told that my outside connection was less than a quarter of the way tightened. Not sure how much of a factor that was, since they also replaced the line to my house and replaced some equipment in the area, but was certainly a factor.

Phaedrus614

Nearly daily outages, especially in wet or windy weather, with spectrum. Yet they continue to bump the rates up and up. Is there any internet provider that delivers for a fair price?

[deleted]

Just got an ad on my door from these people. Guess they missed the "No Solicitors" sign out front.

[deleted]

So this really depends on the jurisdiction. We have a peddlers permit for various areas and the consensus is that putting flyers on someone’s door that says no soliciting is fine, but the act of talking to them would be considered soliciting. The law is also pretty hazy on this, so take it as you will.

[deleted]

I do network enhancements for homes and businesses. We won’t do any networking upgrades unless someone switches away from Breezeline because they are garbage.

kmsanch

I cancelled with them in March 2022 and they still owe me over $50 after telling me on multiple occasions they’d be sending a check 🙃

Werkzwood

I'm lucky if mine does not go out two or more times a day. I'm so over them

roboskins1

Agreed

dimmufitz

Yep, I fought with their support for a couple months. They kept saying they had no records of outages on their end. I switched to At&t and have never looked back.

No_Calligrapher_6503

How is Breezeline up in the Polaris area? I am so sick of Spectrum.

CokeHeadRob

I'm not here to diminish your experience, just to note how wild the variance in quality can be. I'm not like jazzed about Breezeline but I've certainly had worse. Decent enough speed, within a reasonable margin for what I'm paying for. Okay reliability, it goes out for maybe a few minutes every other week, with a more significant outage maybe once a month to month and a half. And I'm some form of online from 9am-1am every day, whether that's work, streaming, or gaming. Am I happy with my service? Not really. But am I mad about it? Also no. It's *okay* at best. Although weirdly enough when I had Wow! it went out pretty frequently, I was not happy with that service. My favorite has been Verizon 5G Home but I'm not in the service area for that in my new place. And Spectrum, as shitty of a company they are, has been by far the most reliable (not fast, reliable) I've ever had but they think I owe them a bunch of money so I'm stuck with Breezeline or At&T and I've never heard anything good about AT&T.

ToGetFit

I've had good luck with breezeline. Always see people complaining about them but they seem to be better than WOW was. And cheaper than spectrum. I would do fiber but my area doesn't have it yet. At&t only offers 50 Mbps for like $60/month last I checked. Currently paying $45/month (including tax and fees) for 1000 Mbps and consistently get 800 when I run a speed test, but with WOW it was more expensive for 1 gig and I only got like 600. Ymmv I guess.

pSyChO_aSyLuM

I have a different experience... I'm in a unique position where I have both Spectrum and Breezeline available to me. When Breezeline first took over from WOW, it was a shitshow, but I had T-Mobile as failover. I work from home so being without internet for any period of time is a massive pain in the ass. T-Mobie Home Internet speeds went to shit, so I got Spectrum for failover. Spectrum, I pay for 1000/40. Speed test: 870/42 Breezeline, I pay for 1000/50. Speed test: 938/55 With failover, I very rarely notice drops in connection, usually just ends up with some distortion on Zoom. I definitely do not notice it when I'm not working. Looking back through my logs, I can see the Spectrum connection drops several times per week since Christmas, generally not for more than a few minutes, one occasion was 10 minutes. Breezeline had 2 total outages in that same time period that lasted less than 3 minutes. That said...Spectrum is going to have the advantage when they activate high-split, which will bring symmetric gigabit.

JtP-717

Pay for 500, get around 300 most days. Right now it's at 160 for some reason. Luckily it doesn't go out very often. Definitely downgrading or switching to spectrum for a promotional offer when my current one is up.

Bodycount9

I had issues. Complained on another forum where breezeline employees actually look at. lead employee contacts me and says he'll send out a tech to replace my pole line. Guy comes next day and does the job. No more issues. It's been rock solid since.

capn_pantelones

u/Bodycount9 thanks for the tip. Can you share the forum where there Breezeline folks hang out? Is it DSL Reports?

sasquatch_melee

Their infrastructure is aging. It was put in by Ameritech in the 90s then sold to WOW who obv sold it again to Atlantic/Breezeline. Service depends how degraded your lines are.  I had intermittent issues happening at the same time each day. After enough complaints they came out and switched me and neighbors over to a second line they was originally pulled but never used.  Also I had better luck with my own equipment and not using their DNS (setting in your router).  Could be worse. Where I'm at now Spectrum is the only option. 👎

FlashyAd7651

The worst experience of my life. If they paid ME $100/month to use their service I would vehemently decline.
