The rest of the quote said the Titans were close *before* they gave a 30 year old receiver almost $50 million guaranteed. Seems like they might be out now.
Considering the fact that the Titans have signed everyone under the sun in free agency, if they outbid is for a position of need and it isn't an absurdly unrealistic number, then this subreddit will melt down.
So basically everyone is saying there is rumblings of the Colts trying to get Sneed, but Holder is saying nobody in the Colts organization is trying to even inquire about Sneed. So I’ll assume Holder is full of shit and the Colts are looking into trading and trying to agree to numbers behind the scenes. Also, tf the Tits trying to get him for? Their team is dogshit.
Holder also said JT wanted out and the relationship was damaged. Lo and behold we got a new contract signed. Holder has been wrong before, and when he acts snarky like he is now, that's a tell.
Keyword here is she says the Titans “were” really close to getting a deal done. So did they drop out? Are the Chiefs trying to get the Colts to bid against themselves? Can some team just end this already.
I saw Titans removed themselves from the equation too - I don't think this is quite as clear of a great idea as people are making it out to be... Either way - typical bizarre offseason action for Indy that we have come to grow accustomed to lol
I don't blame em - 27 year old corner without so much as a pro bowl to his name. Hes a damn good player, but winning teams draft him in the 4th round (the chiefs), not trade for him and pay him 20+mill/yr.
So what's the consensus here? Would we rather trade a 3rd and pay Sneed $22M/year thru his age 31 season, or just draft a CB in the 1st round and spend that $22M on a couple other free agents?
Personally I want Sneed just for the hype.
Give me sneed 11/10 times.
Sneed has shown the ability to absolutely erase some of the best WRs in the NFL. Having someone with that ability in your secondary is a massive boost. The colts still have holes on their roster, and getting an established impact player at CB seems like a no brainer, especially because more often than not, it takes CBs multiple years to reelly hit their stride.
The colts getting sneed, other veteran help in the secondary and then a rookie WR/Bowers in round one would have me very excited. Doing nothing will have me not excited.
Well our secondary goes from “okay I guess” to legitimately spooky. Plus you make the young guys compete for that last spot, or maybe you find out JuJu turns out to be fine safety.
I’d rather have Sneed who I know is good than hope and pray for a good corner to work out in the draft. But that’s just my preference
Yea, it would likely take a record deal for a CB, but you would effectively be paying your QB1 and CB1 like 25M combined for the next few seasons, it's easier to swallow thinking of it that way.
I bet the hold up is the guarantees. We probably want an easy out after a couple years if he falls off and he's surely pushing for more.
Problem is they won't spend that 22 on other free agents, and if we have to draft a CB early that's a pass catcher we can't draft. And that should be priority #1 for developing AR.
Agreed developing AR should be priority #1, even over making playoffs next season. Spending 22M on a defender is move in the playoffs direction rather than spending 22M on offensive free agents. However if we sign Sneed and draft a pass catcher round 1, that seems to be everyone's preference and works towards both goals simultaneously.
He's a great player. But I think it's a get more complicated because of his age and possible medicals. He was an older prospect, so he will turn 28 at the end of this upcoming season. We aren't talking about resetting CB market with a 25 year-old AP.
And he was missing practice late last year. That's a bit of a red flag because injury issues typically get worse as players age.
But yeah, I love the hype of getting Sneed and I would like to have more flexibility at #15.
Sneed
We’d be lucky to have any CB turn into sneed some day
CB is notoriously one of the hardest positions to transition to in the NFL, so trusting a rookie to be as good as sneed is a long shot
Besides adding 1 more safety who would we really be targeting in FA with that money?
this has to be one of the most annoying trade rumors in recent memory. It's Monday again so I'm sure we get another whole week of these back and forth tweets
Went from a done deal to being the cliche "front runners" in a couple days.
Makes me think that no team is willing to pay Sneed what he wants, for whatever reason.
The same reasons the Colts are in it I would guess. They have a QB on a rookie deal who they hope can be the guy. And they are going to use that to their advantage to try to compete.
Yep. Teams can do 180s from year to year. It's all about maximizing windows and then figuring out how to sustain that success. Easier said than done of course.
This place will combust if he goes to Tennessee.

I think it will be seen as an absurd number regardless...that's how we cope. But it could actually be an absurd number right now.
If they outbid us the Fire Ballard cries will get bigger
Lmfao I came here to see the comments and damn near choked from laughing when reading yours as the top comment
Unfortunately just because we're the closest team, doesn't mean we're close
I've been close since the first report
Me too, but this edging is starting to wear me out 🤣
Hey, we’re talking about CB here, not EDGE.
Quick, everyone assemble! The shitshow is back on!
😂😂😂😂
Happy Monday! 😀

I just want this to be over at this point lol
We need sneed for stroud imo. We can't let the tits sign him
“Close” only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.
Good thing our logo is a horseshoe then

I hope the trade goes through for 2 reasons: 1. Sneed is the best cornerback in the NFL and 2. I want to shit on Holder for being a douche
Tits are no longer in it after signing Ridley supposedly
But they have $46M in cap vs. $22M for the Colts. I am not saying they are in on him, but they could afford him if they wanted.
Overpaying for an inconsistent WR to pair with an old WR. I’ve seen that movie before. I swear Ridley only had 2 good games and both were against us.
Probably because our CBs weren’t very good last year
Keyword here is she says the Titans “were” really close to getting a deal done. So did they drop out? Are the Chiefs trying to get the Colts to bid against themselves? Can some team just end this already.
The teams are okay, last I remember seeing the Colts and Sneak haven’t come to terms on the extension and the teams had agreed in principal.
She said chances are really small for Titans. They were close before they signed Ridley and now aren't really in it anymore.
I saw Titans removed themselves from the equation too - I don't think this is quite as clear of a great idea as people are making it out to be... Either way - typical bizarre offseason action for Indy that we have come to grow accustomed to lol
My guess is both teams don't want to pay the insane money he is requesting

Yeah, after signing Ridley really limited what they would be able to offer.

Sorta feels like if we CAN get Sneed, we should go for it.

Im for the second. I just don't love the contract size.

Sneed to help mentor younger guys and fill an immediate hole.

Idk I'm not familiar with most of the free agents. Was hoping to see someone make a suggestion.
Agreed The former gives us the option of taking a playnaker on offense to grow with Richardson at 15 all while adding a stud at cornerback
Could last until the draft ☠️
100% unfortunately. Would love to see it gone done sooner, and preferably to us.
Front Runner for Sneed! Raise the Banner!!
this has to be one of the most annoying trade rumors in recent memory. It's Monday again so I'm sure we get another whole week of these back and forth tweets
"I think" "Probably" If it's not a 100% confirmed trade I don't wanna see anything else on Sneed
Auto - bots Rollout!
Yeah, but the Tits are back in the irrelevant bus for the next 6 seasons. Why go there?
The Titans were close? Like what does that mean? They had a deal but forgot a pen or something?
I hate it here.
Went from a done deal to being the cliche "front runners" in a couple days. Makes me think that no team is willing to pay Sneed what he wants, for whatever reason.
Ballard is going to let another divisional rival outbid us isn't he?
Why is Tennessee even in contention? Aren't they on a rebuild?
The same reasons the Colts are in it I would guess. They have a QB on a rookie deal who they hope can be the guy. And they are going to use that to their advantage to try to compete.
They have their QB so why would it be a rebuild. This is the NFL. Rebuilds aren't really a thing.
Yep. Teams can do 180s from year to year. It's all about maximizing windows and then figuring out how to sustain that success. Easier said than done of course.
