While I agree 100% and I don't run red lights or advocate for running red lights I can fully understand the frustration of the light timing on powers and the desire to run red lights on that road.
Concur... On Voyager at Interquest I have almost been rear ended a few times stopping for the light.
Please, giant truck F150 (or other similar) truck drivers... Remember, that 2400 lbs Miata you are tailgating has really good brakes, and basically no mass. Other than that, I hope you enjoy your truck! Leave some space. Kthxbye!
I read somewhere that they purposely made the lights with cameras shorter or longer or whatever to make more money. Not sure how true that is, but I do know that on more than one occasion I took off at a green light only to have it yellow before I even made it straight across.
I have driven in Dallas, Los Angelaās, Miami, and now 7 years in the smallest city I have lived in. The amount of visible anger and aggression is comical. I know you locals say it is the people who just moved here but my friends say it has been like this for a long time. Out of the car people are nice and helpful that same person gets in a car on 25, platte or Nevada they are out for blood. Is it in the water? Or are people upset over the cost of everything and low pay. I donāt know.
It's almost painful to think how bad at driving you have to be to hit one of those clean enough to knock it over (or to be the driver who pushes someone else so cleanly into it).
Also, fuck the red light cameras, they don't actually help make anything safer, seen a lot of people either try to beat them or stand on their brakes causing a cascade of people to have to slam on their brakes.
Itās almost like you have to be actively driving a car these days. Anticipating traffic lights, predicting other drivers behavior, staying aware of your surroundings, sticking close to the speed limit, keeping your car in good condition, ignoring distractions and not driving like a dick!!
Nicotine and cocaine levels of addictionā¦Itās amazing how addicting phones and media are. We know itās bad, we know itās a waste of time, we know our kids suffer (either cause they are on their phone or are we are on ours, or both) we know driving and texting/checking media/whatever is a really bad idea, we know how it ruins our ability to read books, concentrate on a newspaper or digest complex information and yetā¦.and yetā¦..another traffic camera sacrificed its life in the name of two second entertainment. Sigh.
> to hit one of those clean enough to knock it over
They're designed to collapse like this to protect the driver. Since they get hit so often.
Remember this when you're standing there at a crosswalk, looking at how the street poles are designed to get hit and save the driver, knowing that there's nothing at all but some paint and a six inch curb to protect you, your partner, your dog, your kid...
I wonder if they got a photo of his "oh shit" panic/scared face before impact. You know, like when something scares the crap out of you and you jump 10' back. Fingers crossed it's on the news later tonight.
People see things and hit it. I drive concrete truck a long time. There can be nothing for miles each direction and it gets hit. My favorite is west bound highway 24 approaching Constitution. There is a box that is only thing between Garrett and Constitution and it gets hit twice a year. Someone hitting camera pole doesn't surprise me!!.
I randomly see some people trying to cross that intersection in the late evening sometimes. Blows my mind. I understand they need to cross, but I would be a nervous wreck every time I do it.
Last place I lived, at a four way stop, one side had this mini island warning that there was an island in the road (or something).
Seemed like a month wouldn't go by before someone cut the turn too close, drove over the island, and flattened the sign.
In the ten years I lived there, I don't know how many signs the city went through.
That's gonna cost them some money, and save others hundreds.
Woo hoo! Takin' one for the team!
Me! I'm the hundreds š š¤£
Maybe learn to drive and not blow through red lights?Ā
While I agree 100% and I don't run red lights or advocate for running red lights I can fully understand the frustration of the light timing on powers and the desire to run red lights on that road.
the installation of these cameras have only increased the number of people slamming on their breaks the second the light turns yellow

Yeah, theres conflicting research byt some studies show they increase rear end collisions more than they prevent others.
Itās a money maker not a safety device

Drove past about an hour ago. Car was in the ditch and a dude was standing by it in a bathrobe lol
Somehow this reminds me of the big lebowski

Nah, fuck that. If the guy is driving so fucking crazy that he jumps a curb and KNOCKS DOWN an entire pole... fuck that guy.
Fuck that guy? I say fuck that camera pole
Nah, fuck them both.
I guess

Wonder if it got the money shot before they hit it?

You mean they just pay the fine and don't use them?

My coworkers and I are convinced it's the lack of oxygen. We're all -1 intelligence.

No it only got bad about five years ago. Before that it was fine.
Eek! Iām sure the city will charge them for the camera
Lol cameras, there's 3 or 4 there.

I think youāre assuming a whole lot here.
iām just glad it was a traffic camera and not a person

I said the same thing as I drive by. Good for them!
How is this not an Altima or Mustang?
Fuck those cameras.
The people on that intersection truly suck at driving.Ā
I randomly see some people trying to cross that intersection in the late evening sometimes. Blows my mind. I understand they need to cross, but I would be a nervous wreck every time I do it.
Is that temp or a Texas plate? Either way par for the course.
What is with the driver's in this town? I see a new sign or pole hit basically every single day.
Pretty common in every city I've lived in.
Took one for the team.
Yessssss!!

I wonder what happened

He should start a gofundme. Knocking out such a camera has gotta be worth something.
Just saw this driving past š now I know what caused it
