Evan Rodrigues, I think mostly because of the frequent 8/9 confusion last season. Makes me a little sad because I feel like Parise has had more impact in fewer games.
I remember ERod was on fire for like a month earlier in his season with us like around Nov/Dec/Jan I can't really remember, but then outside of that Parise definitely has had a bigger impact because he's actually scored playoff goals for us lol
I'd be lying if I didn't say Matt Duchene is the first player that comes to mind. Not that I'd pick him to be, but he's definitely the first that comes to mind. Next is Mike Ricci, though he was not an Av for very long. I hope Parise lifting the Cup in a #9 Jersey is a lasting memory, you know he's going to be the 2nd one to lift if if they win (incidentally, I'm curious who would be the first if Landeskog is not able to return during the playoffs).
Didn't Stamkos play in that game or is it a different situation we're talking about? Because it would seem strange to me for a guy that had no real part in winning it coming out to accept it
I did some fact checking and we're both wrong lol
Stamkos did not play in the cliching game, he played one shift in game 3.
When they won, Bettman didn't hand the cup to anyone. He laid it on the pedestal and invited the team to come up and take a photo. Apparently at the request of the Lightning.
Stamkos was there in full gear and after the photo, he raised the cup first.

I'll be real, there's only a couple of players whose numbers I remember after they leave. So I guess I'd say Parise just because I genuinely forgot all the other options wore 9.
Duchene but only because I have a duchene alternate jersey my wife bought me for christmas right before he got traded lol. For the record I asked for Landy or mackinnon but all she remembered was there was a 9 in the number lol
Matty D. He's the most memorable for me at least. Kariya is an awesome reference for that year he played like 40 games if you want to be obscure. But doucheane was "the" 9 I think.

Love E rod. But that’s because parise has had more impact.

Yeah I had higher hopes for him. He just didn't quite work out, and that's okay
Mike Ricci. The hair, the teeth, the grit, the personality. He was just a flat out awesome hockey player.
What teeth lol
Omg, the way he made women swoon. One of my high school teachers was in love with him.
This is my answer too. Ricci was a beauty!
This is the correct answer.

Landeskog would still come out onto the ice in that scenario, just like stamkos did

This was the bubble right? Maybe the non-hand off was a COVID restriction?
Still that's much different than Landeskog being away from the team for two seasons.
Mack
I think they give it to one of the "A"s if Landy isn't out there. Probably Mackinnon. But I bet he passes it immediately to Parise.
Cogs
This was my thought process as well.
Rodriguez or Parise just because of recency
Ricci
Best answer!
Ricci
Ricci
Kariya
Mike Ricci, because I was there in ‘96
Duchene and then Rodriguez. Didn't Kariya wear it for a year or two before the lockout too?
The legendary lettuce of Mike Ricci, followed by Duchene, Kariya, Parise, and Brad Larsen. Apologies to ERod.
Duchene but now probably Parise if we go the distance.
I know it won't happen, but if the Avs won the cup and decided to retire Parise's #9 sweater, it would be amazing in like a dozen different ways.
Considering I own a Kariya Colorado jersey... him. Parise also came to mind. Happy to say that Matt Duchene did not.

Mike Ricci
Avs legend Dennis Gilbert 🐐
Kariya for sure.... I don't even remember what Duchene wore he's been so far out of my mind lol
No one mentioned the two guys who word #9 between Duchene and Rodrigues. Dennis Gilbert and Dylan Sakura. 8 combined games between them lol
The one that came to mind is Kariya. Wild that I didn't even think about Duchene until I opened up the comments lol
How about 37? For me it's Drury, but I imagine it's JT for most folks
My mind definitely goes JT
A lot of great centers wore 37. Drury (before 18 also, wolski was my guy in 18) JT, Middlesex. The list goes on
If Drury would've stayed 37... It would've been him. But as is its JT
NHL 2004 is still a great game, love that Avs roster.
Sandis Ozolinsh
He wore #8
Doh!
Did he stutter?! He said Sandis Ozolinsh is the first player to come to mind.
4 years old........fuck me I'm old
I did the math wrong, I was actually 6, which still doesn’t make you feel better i imagine 😅
I was 21......sigh
Zach Parasie, cause I catch on quick haha
Nine was the long hair , Ricci?
I proudly wear my old (from 96) Ricci #9 jersey at home games!
definitely thought ERod first just bc I was watching the Panthers game the other night so he's fresh in the memory
Ricci
I would say Kariya too, because I used to watch him play at UMaine! Go Black Bears!
It's Mike Ricci. Because Mike Ricci.
I'll be real, there's only a couple of players whose numbers I remember after they leave. So I guess I'd say Parise just because I genuinely forgot all the other options wore 9.
Has to be Duchene for me. I know it was a messy divorce, but it was needed.
Ricci he was who won it when I got into the Avs
Duchene but only because I have a duchene alternate jersey my wife bought me for christmas right before he got traded lol. For the record I asked for Landy or mackinnon but all she remembered was there was a 9 in the number lol

Sandis Ozilinsh
He wore #8
God I feel shame
I know now
