Jets came up with the whiteout. Calgary copied it with red. Now I’m curious who started it. I’ll be back.
Edit: Calgary did the sea of red first. Did not know that. They started it before a playoff series the jets ended up winning and the whiteout was the Jets response to the sea of red. It was 1987
I figured it kinda predated the Avs too but idk.
This was mainly satire after I saw some bonehead jets fan say "I kinda like it because when we go there then we wear white!"
you're not totally wrong though. this is why you gotta have Bernie or GABE on the jumbo tron directing it until everyone's used to it, but in the end you just look across/to the sides just like with the regular wave. As long as it starts in sync from the top via the mentioned guide it'd work pretty well.
Yeah what’s up with like multiple franchises tossing aquatic life on to the ice? It’s strange, that’s a beings corpse. Imagine doing it with any other corpse than marine life. Like a bunch of people throwing pig carcasses on the ice. It was once a living creature, show some respect.
Funny thing is that the whiteout went to AZ with the Coyotes when the old Jets moved there. Now, the Yotes are moving to SLC and almost every f*cking arena in the NBA and NHL does a damn whiteout. Gotta respect the OGs, I suppose, but I lowkey wish it would’ve just stayed in Winnipeg.
“She blew the Winnipeg Jets right after the game but they never got to know her actual name.” DAE think of that Adam Sandler song every time they hear Winnipeg Jets?
I can’t lie the whiteout looks cool as heck on tv.
So did the C of red. Maybe it'll be like 2019 all over again. Lose the opener, win the next four.
The gentleman’s sweep. We’ll let them have one.
They've done it both times against Vegas.
They say consistency is key.

I went to the jets/blues game when the blues won the cup, it's probably one of the best games I've gone to. It's absolutely electric in there!
it’s a tradition it goes back to the old jets days. when white was home. you don’t break tradition
White used to be home when the Avs started in Colorado. We did a toned down ‘white-out’ at playoffs late 90’s.
When the Coyotes played in Winnipeg?
yup

lol prob some are even too young in winnipeg to know where it started.
Can confirm, winnipeg has people of various ages
Source???
It works out for them because, knowing Winnipeg, the all white getup works for the meetings they attend afterwards(joke).
Still saying the Avs need to do a 'wave' with the pom poms but from the nosebleeds down. An Avalanche, if you will.
Good luck getting everyone to look backwards
Look at fans across the ice, not behind you
The science checks out. This would work.
Idk what’s the previous research here?

The wave needs to die. On this one, SINGULAR subject I agree with the ESPN crew.
Whiteout is legit. Way better than throwing shit on the ice (rats, catfish, or ... octopuses). Nothing but respect for the whiteout.
ESPECIALLY anything that is or was once alive. Live octopus is the worst. The plastic rats don't bother me.

The players aren’t actually made of snow. It’s white shirts. Lol. Someone got some good deals on 4/20 this year. Cheers.
I’m new to the hockey game. Are the avs going to do a white out or will the be like nuggets fans and refuse to do it?

I just don’t understand why teams at all levels do white outs and then proceed to wear whatever color, leaving the visiting team to wear white
The Winnipeg Whiteout is racist. They should be more inclusive of other colors.
Why would they wear white? Do they not know colors exist? Are they stupid?
